I think the reason for a phone gimbal is for it to be quick and easy to carry around, especially during a holiday trip. A compact one like DJI's seems the one I am going for.
Dji osmo is good only with i-phone. With S23 ultra is orrible. You can't register in 4k and the follow track doesn't run with s-23 ultra. I ve already bought the Isteady m6 and I really hope that it will truly run with s-23 ultra
@OttoJulian_ @vince_ago90 @taser290 after using DJI OM 6 for almost 6 months, I feel dissatisfied with "stabilisation". It is prone to tilt on its own when you move/walk/pan and very weird tilting as well, upward or downward. I am thinking of getting Hohem M6.

I've never had a selfie stick or a gimbal before. I currently have a Note-9. But maybe upgrading to a 23 Ultra. I like the compactness on the DJI. I feel like it's a little less conspicuous while I'm learning how to use it. I wish that these companies would not restrict the features on the Android phones so much. Having said all that. I do like the hohem, but right now it seems a little too big and more difficult to carry around.
Hi. Agreed. Although these companies are not restricting the use of 60fps for example, it’s actually phone manufacturers like Samsung who restrict third party apps from accessing the camera full features
Great video. I have the OM6 and just ordered the Hohem M6. One thing that’s happening with my DJI OM6 is, it automatically switches to FAST FOLLOW and I have to keep resetting it back to Medium or Slow in the MIMO app every time!! Anyone else have this problem???
I'm waiting for the next version of the Hohem M6. The features I'm hoping Hohem will add are better support for Android phones, and also the ability to lock the tilt motor which i believe you cannot do on the M6.
Congratulations on your channel, I have always liked the type of devices that you analyse. I have a question about the compatibility with the devices. I was planning to buy the DJI OM SE, but it is not clear to me if it would work properly with my device. I have a OnePlus Nord 2, which does not appear on the compatibility list for any of the gimbals, but the weight and dimensions are within the ranges established by the manufacturer. Do you know if it could work? If not, do you know of any other gimbal that could work? Thank you so much.
Well from your choice which will you recommend for tight budget users in 2024 and which will not outdate early or which will be more useful. And except these two more suggestion?
If you holiday maker amateur go for Osmo. If you techie and a little serious and shoot with iPhone and some heavy lenses and need to shoot on Filmic/Moment etc. than Hohem. Battery life, no need to run the gimbal app and the tracking and 360 are very valid points for me.
none of these gimbals will have 8K inside their apps. You'd have to use your native camera app, which is not a problem to be honest, and well, both of these gimbals are good, OM6 is more portable and has an extension rod, easier to setup with the magnetic clip, the M6 has tracking sensor and it can support extra weight, and it has a few features that can be useful
Both are excellent if you don’t mind the limitations. They are just different in amount of features, portability, etc. I did cover all of them in the video
I am trying to get a gimbal and looking all over youtube for comparisons. Thanks for doing this! However as far as I know the Osmo mobile 6 will not let you do 4k 60fps if on android but only 4k 30fps, and the the point of buying it are not worth it for me. The same goes for Insta 360 flow. Can you confirm this?
Yeah these gimbals have the same limitation because most Android devices will just not work. There seems to be a few exceptions but it’s better to use the native camera app for 60fps
Both are good, that's my honest opinion, and they are my favorite ones to use. When I travel by air I prefer to take the OM6 as it's more compact, if I don't have to fly then M6 most of the times. But now the new V3 from Hohem has been taking the DJI position when I need more convenience

hi, the M6 will have more flexibility with moving angles, and it looks more sophisticated than the OM6 due to the screen, big wheel, general size, etc.
Hello! I just found your video & was so happy to find it! It is very helpful. I do have a question or maybe a request.. I am curious to know how you would compare or maybe rate from favorite to least favorite these 2 stabilizers/gimbals the DJIOsmoMobile 6, the Hohem iSteady M6 + the Zhiyun Smooth 5S, the Insta 360 Flow & the Aochuan Smart S2. They’re all relatively close in price & each has its own special pros as well as cons. I’m so conflicted on which one to get! I also looked at the Hohem iSteady Vs2 which is a lower price point but seems to be also a great stabilizer/gimbal, just maybe a little more basic or beginner friendly. My head is spinning looking at all the different brands & models out there. Originally I thought I’d found what I wanted but the more I started digging into some of the different models I found more pros & cons as well as realizing that I need to spend a bit more than I had originally planned for better Ulithi & features. Anyhow your video was so helpful so thank you. I would love to hear more about your thoughts on some comparative models. Thanks again!
sorry about the late reply. It's not an easy answer, and I don't know if you already made up your mind. I think my best advice is to watch the videos that I have for the smartphone gimbals that you mentioned, but bottom line, choosing one will depend on the phone that you have and also your shooting style. My favorites right now are the OM6, the Hohem M6 and maybe the insta360. I didn't test the Aochuan S2, and Smooth 5S was replaced by the M6 in my book for a few reasons. Hope this helps
@@OttoJulian_ on DJI you are correct, on hohem, I can, maybe it wasn't at the time you tried them, but now I guarantee its possible for Hohem. Best thing is that I can use either hohem app or the phone app. Thats another + for hohem.
The design of the DJI and other gimbals like that one (Hohem also have these kind of models) are a bit more beginner friendly in my opinion, but suffer from a few limitations and yet they have some advantages. The Hohem is great if you need reliable tracking but the person being tracked needs to activate it (on the DJI the person using the gimbal can select the subject). It will all depend on what you will use it for and HOW you will use it

If that phone has one of the latest Android versions it should work. All Android devices have some limitations when using the DJI app, but that will happen even if you buy the most expensive Samsung smartphone
M6 will give you more freedom in your movements, specially for cars, but I like the OM6 for size, the magnetic clamp and other features mentioned in this video
I’m thinking of buying a gimbal only to make some walking tour style videos with my iphone 14 pro from time to time. Which one would you suggest? Will om 6 be sufficient?
Most phone gimbals have issues with the ultra-wide angle lens of smartphones: the gimbal arms are usually visible in the frame, does the hohem have this issue too? Secondly, can the Hohem do the jigsaw move for reveal shot? you know the move where we attach a monopod to the base of a gimbal and raise it up as high as possible to reveal a location? I know the DJI can't do that as it has to be held sideways(sucks) Lastly, what are the resolutions and frame rates the Hohem shoots at? you didn't mention all these in the video.
The phones I tried do not have a problem with ultra wide lens, but I only have 2 phones to test, iPhone and Samsung Galaxy S22 + I replied to you about this jigsaw reveal shot in the other video, you can do the movement with the M6, and the reason why you can't do it with the OM6 is because of the design limitation for tilting movements. You can watch my M6 video review, I believe the last section is about the app and supported frame rates.
In terms of "packing", how small can Hohem M6 can be unfolded down? I use the Peak Design Everyday Sling 10L and DJI OM 6 can fit in a slot easily. If I can pack Hohem M6 into this bag, I am going to switch to that one.

Dear, I also use Fold4. What I want to know is "doesn't fit" means,, Exactly Fit or available fit. Even not Exact Fit, only can use for fold4, I want to try. Couse, hohem is only option for Heavy Android phone like Fold4. So, Do you think it is possible to use for Fold??
Do you record using the iPhone's native camera? Because when I record in the BlackMagic app and disable the iPhone's stabilization, to use only the Hohem Isteady M6's stabilization, the video is shaky. It only resolves when I turn on the iPhone's stabilization
Outside of TH-cam I do. For these videos I try to do a bit of everything. I think they complement each other as the stabilization on these gimbals are not perfect if there the one on the phone is off, but I have tested both modes (handheld and gimbal with no stabilization on the phone) and the results are quite different. I showcased that on one of my recent videos.
is there any update on the dji app that supports more android camera features, such as up to 8k, and use the gimbal buttons to control the native camera?
I think the very first batch had some minor issues, but as far as I know they fixed them. No overheating at all, I have used it for many hours without a break
Great review!! One issue i have with the m6 Wont stay unlocked!!!I'm on my second m6 in a week span with the same issue!! They have an issue with the lock button, it will not stay in the unlocked position. Once it rotates a full 360 it automatically locks back. Any suggestions?
@matt9789 thanks for replying. You need to contact Hohem, they will most likely send you a replacement. For now, what you can do is to avoid that problem is to pull it down and place something small enough to keep the lever down.
Hi otto! Want to ask you please about poco x3 pro, do you know for sure, if it works with the gji 6 or with the hehem m6? I need to know for sure though..and if they have is substantial differences in weight because for the type of shooting I'm doing is about 4 hours shooting straight live show.. with one hand..(probably with additional Mike for the phone and lens on the gimble itself)..
@@OttoJulian_ not really, I downloaded hohem app to check it out before buying anything and it allows to use camera without the device and it supports 1080p60, cant tell about 4k60 since my phone is 4k30 only.

Otto, do you feel the zoom lever on the M6 works any smoother than the zoom slider on the Hohem Mobile + 2022, or the Hohem V6? Does the zoom always move slowly, or is the zoom speed variable depending on the pressure you use on the lever or slider? hello Dee, the zoom slider feels better than on those other gimbals that you mentioned, but it is not sensitive to the pressure applied, so either it zooms or it doesn't. As Phenom Dark said, you can customize the zoom speed inside the app

Yeah. iPhones do allow full access to their camera unlike Android. My way to solve this is to use the native camera app to use 60fps. You lose some features when you shoot at that frame rate but it’s a matter of adapting
Great comparison video!!! I purchased the OM6 q few months ago and love it. It handles my iPhone 14 Pro Max with Sandmarc case and anamorphic lens pretty good. However, I ordered the iSteady M6 for the tracking and inception mode. I don't like the Mimo app except for some of its extra features. I want to use the stock camera app in cinematic mode sometimes and the M6 is perfect for that!

the general answer is no, but there are a few (a few!) exceptions. OM6 has been reported to work at 60fps with google Pixel phone, but quality is not good for what I understand
These 2 are my favorites right now. I like the M6 for the tracking sensor, OLED screen, A to B buttons and also the range of movement. The OM6 for portability/size, the magnetic clamp and the app feels better.
I'm experiencing a few stability issues with the Osmo mobile 6... he gets out of sync and it's hard to bring it back. Plus I've found that when on the go, the FPV mode is a bit more normal. And I'm using an iPhone 13 Pro Max with it.
@@OttoJulian_ it moves to a different direction, it gets locked on random people and then it's just leaving the subject and destroys the video. Sometimes it feels like the gimbal is tired... drifts and then doesn't want to come back. I was recently on a trip and it was a nightmare to work with it. The pocket 2 preformed better 🤷🏻♂️.

@@dishxpert insta 360flow is great for iPhone, that is not a bad choice at all, the app has almost everything supported, only limitation I see is tilt angle. if you can work around it with Flow, then Flow is perfect gimbal
try to make sure that the your Android is not connected to anything else. I would also try to restart your phone and make sure that the gimbal is not connected to another smartphone around you
If Martinez means if inception mode can be used in vertical and horizontal mode, then sure, it will spin regardless of the phone POSITION (position and direction are not the same!)
yes, if it's a sport where multiple people are running around at the same time the gimbal at some point will lose the subject as there are too many "obstacles" aka other people

I love the old ones but the M6 can do more of what i want and the AI is the best with the add on. I bought Hohem isteady m6 kit and it's worked suprb.... It's not compact... It won't come in one pocket but other then that it's too good.

Hello! I just found your video & was so happy to find it! It is very helpful. I do have a question or maybe a request.. I am curious to know how you would compare or maybe rate from favorite to least favorite these 2 stabilizers/gimbals the DJIOsmoMobile 6, the Hohem iSteady M6 + the Zhiyun Smooth 5S, the Insta 360 Flow & the Aochuan Smart S2. They’re all relatively close in price & each has its own special pros as well as cons. I’m so conflicted on which one to get! I also looked at the Hohem iSteady Vs2 which is a lower price point but seems to be also a great stabilizer/gimbal, just maybe a little more basic or beginner friendly. My head is spinning looking at all the different brands & models out there. Originally I thought I’d found what I wanted but the more I started digging into some of the different models I found more pros & cons as well as realizing that I need to spend a bit more than I had originally planned for better Ulithi & features. Anyhow your video was so helpful so thank you. I would love to hear more about your thoughts on some comparative models. Thanks again!
sorry about the late reply. It's not an easy answer, and I don't know if you already made up your mind. I think my best advice is to watch the videos that I have for the smartphone gimbals that you mentioned, but bottom line, choosing one will depend on the phone that you have and also your shooting style. My favorites right now are the OM6, the Hohem M6 and maybe the insta360. I didn't test the Aochuan S2, and Smooth 5S was replaced by the M6 in my book for a few reasons. Hope this helps

Bought both. I have s24 ultra. Can't shoot 4k 60 fps on dji, but i can do it with hohem. Just for that, i'll keep hohem and refund dji
Android devices are not supposed to shoot in 60fps with their apps, not sure how you pulled it off
@@OttoJulian_ on DJI you are correct, on hohem, I can, maybe it wasn't at the time you tried them, but now I guarantee its possible for Hohem. Best thing is that I can use either hohem app or the phone app. Thats another + for hohem.
Which would you recommend for a beginner? I have an iPhone 14 PM but I need to shoot videos for my school.
The design of the DJI and other gimbals like that one (Hohem also have these kind of models) are a bit more beginner friendly in my opinion, but suffer from a few limitations and yet they have some advantages. The Hohem is great if you need reliable tracking but the person being tracked needs to activate it (on the DJI the person using the gimbal can select the subject). It will all depend on what you will use it for and HOW you will use it

Sir if ever you need to choose between them which gimbal stabilizer is better that you not get regret in comes to price etc.
They are a little bit different. I travel a lot so I prefer the OM6 for size and portability, but the features of the M6 are better in my opinion

If that phone has one of the latest Android versions it should work. All Android devices have some limitations when using the DJI app, but that will happen even if you buy the most expensive Samsung smartphone

M6 will give you more freedom in your movements, specially for cars, but I like the OM6 for size, the magnetic clamp and other features mentioned in this video

Most phone gimbals have issues with the ultra-wide angle lens of smartphones: the gimbal arms are usually visible in the frame, does the hohem have this issue too?
Secondly, can the Hohem do the jigsaw move for reveal shot? you know the move where we attach a monopod to the base of a gimbal and raise it up as high as possible to reveal a location? I know the DJI can't do that as it has to be held sideways(sucks)
Lastly, what are the resolutions and frame rates the Hohem shoots at? you didn't mention all these in the video.
The phones I tried do not have a problem with ultra wide lens, but I only have 2 phones to test, iPhone and Samsung Galaxy S22 +
I replied to you about this jigsaw reveal shot in the other video, you can do the movement with the M6, and the reason why you can't do it with the OM6 is because of the design limitation for tilting movements. You can watch my M6 video review, I believe the last section is about the app and supported frame rates.

In terms of "packing", how small can Hohem M6 can be unfolded down? I use the Peak Design Everyday Sling 10L and DJI OM 6 can fit in a slot easily. If I can pack Hohem M6 into this bag, I am going to switch to that one.

Do you record using the iPhone's native camera?
Because when I record in the BlackMagic app and disable the iPhone's stabilization, to use only the Hohem Isteady M6's stabilization, the video is shaky. It only resolves when I turn on the iPhone's stabilization
Outside of TH-cam I do. For these videos I try to do a bit of everything. I think they complement each other as the stabilization on these gimbals are not perfect if there the one on the phone is off, but I have tested both modes (handheld and gimbal with no stabilization on the phone) and the results are quite different. I showcased that on one of my recent videos.

I think the very first batch had some minor issues, but as far as I know they fixed them. No overheating at all, I have used it for many hours without a break

Wont stay unlocked!!!I'm on my second m6 in a week span with the same issue!! They have an issue with the lock button, it will not stay in the unlocked position. Once it rotates a full 360 it automatically locks back. Any suggestions?

@matt9789 thanks for replying. You need to contact Hohem, they will most likely send you a replacement. For now, what you can do is to avoid that problem is to pull it down and place something small enough to keep the lever down.
Hi otto! Want to ask you please about poco x3 pro, do you know for sure, if it works with the gji 6 or with the hehem m6? I need to know for sure though..and if they have is substantial differences in weight because for the type of shooting I'm doing is about 4 hours shooting straight live show.. with one hand..(probably with additional Mike for the phone and lens on the gimble itself)..

both are very good. Tracking is fantastic with the M6. OM6 is more portable and has a magnetic clamp for the phone.

The advantage of the Hohem is that it has less movement limitations that you will find on the OM6 and similar gimbals

hi James, you can use the tracking feature inside their app just like other gimbals do. This will NOT need the AI sensor
Otto, do you feel the zoom lever on the M6 works any smoother than the zoom slider on the Hohem Mobile + 2022, or the Hohem V6? Does the zoom always move slowly, or is the zoom speed variable depending on the pressure you use on the lever or slider? you can program the zoom sensitivity on hohem app, not sure about DJI
hello Dee, the zoom slider feels better than on those other gimbals that you mentioned, but it is not sensitive to the pressure applied, so either it zooms or it doesn't. As Phenom Dark said, you can customize the zoom speed inside the app
M6 has big time quality and manufacturing issues. Got two different M6’s and both the locking switch was defective.

what kind of cycling? I feel that gimbals in general are not too good if you are going to use your bike on a park or rough terrain.

Yeah. iPhones do allow full access to their camera unlike Android. My way to solve this is to use the native camera app to use 60fps. You lose some features when you shoot at that frame rate but it’s a matter of adapting

Great comparison video!!! I purchased the OM6 q few months ago and love it. It handles my iPhone 14 Pro Max with Sandmarc case and anamorphic lens pretty good. However, I ordered the iSteady M6 for the tracking and inception mode. I don't like the Mimo app except for some of its extra features. I want to use the stock camera app in cinematic mode sometimes and the M6 is perfect for that!

the general answer is no, but there are a few (a few!) exceptions. OM6 has been reported to work at 60fps with google Pixel phone, but quality is not good for what I understand

These 2 are my favorites right now. I like the M6 for the tracking sensor, OLED screen, A to B buttons and also the range of movement. The OM6 for portability/size, the magnetic clamp and the app feels better.

I'm experiencing a few stability issues with the Osmo mobile 6... he gets out of sync and it's hard to bring it back. Plus I've found that when on the go, the FPV mode is a bit more normal. And I'm using an iPhone 13 Pro Max with it.
By “out of sync” do you mean that it drifts somewhere else?
@@OttoJulian_ it moves to a different direction, it gets locked on random people and then it's just leaving the subject and destroys the video. Sometimes it feels like the gimbal is tired... drifts and then doesn't want to come back. I was recently on a trip and it was a nightmare to work with it. The pocket 2 preformed better 🤷🏻♂️.
Did you calibrate the gimbal? If you did, it might not be working as intended. I would send it back for a replacement

@@dishxpert insta 360flow is great for iPhone, that is not a bad choice at all, the app has almost everything supported, only limitation I see is tilt angle. if you can work around it with Flow, then Flow is perfect gimbal

try to make sure that the your Android is not connected to anything else. I would also try to restart your phone and make sure that the gimbal is not connected to another smartphone around you
The M6 using the native camera app can shot at any FPS that the phone allows. It's a great plus! DJI in this case, needs to learn from HOHEM

If Martinez means if inception mode can be used in vertical and horizontal mode, then sure, it will spin regardless of the phone POSITION (position and direction are not the same!)
Have you tried to track sports with these Gimbals?
yes, if it's a sport where multiple people are running around at the same time the gimbal at some point will lose the subject as there are too many "obstacles" aka other people

Hello Otto, I have the OM5 and the 360 flow - just ordered the M6 kit - as I am looking to up my game a bit.... I love the old ones but the M6 can do more of what i want and the AI is the best with the add on. Will be using it with my iPhone 13 Pro so will not have the problems that Android users seem to have with their phones.... keep up the wicked Videos my brother....
