The review i am looking for. I am now more inclined in purchasing hohem m6. Using s23 ultra. Thanks for a very informative and honest review, specially mentioning that not everyone or in every country can spend to buy multiple gimbals. Looking to upgrade from Zhiyun smooth 4. Looks like hohem m6 would be the most i can get the most out of. You get a sub! Thanks!
i bought the hohem months ago, but im not using because of its size. im looking for something i can put in my purse/pocket. so im considering a second purchase of the flow. and myabe in certain cases i can then have two camera postiions.
I love how you acknowledged and compared how different users around the world have different capacities to buy or return product. Some folks think that the cost of all these equipment is not a big deal.
Thanks for the feedback. I also feel many times this is not taken into consideration, as if anybody can afford whatever gear people make videos for, and that is not the case. Even I also look after the pennies when I need or want to buy any equipment. For instance, I am looking at buying another camera for my filming, and I am not just buying whatever is new in the market, because I might not need it, I might be better off with something that is 1 or 2 years old and works with everything I got and will save me some money, because money doesn't grow on tress. I feel it is a responsibility for anyone who reviews to have this concept in mind.
@@SamuelSotiega Agreed. I frequently made this mistake in my younger years and only just recently realizing you don't have to pay for features you will rarely or never need. Most of the times they're just reworded features for marketing. Thanks to videos like yours we get to cut through all that BS.
Wow the M6 . Just bought it. Still working it out. But the inception mode is just amazing. Your viewing a scene then tap tap on a tiny mode button and the gimbal turns around and creates an upside down effect like in movies. Nice touch and the 360 spinning on a swivel by far the best I’ve ever used. And i can leave the phone case on. Oh yeah am using s 22 ultra so quite a large phone? Oh yeah and the stability is 2nd to none
I am so pleased to read that you are happy with it. I also think it is a great gimbal for smartphones and the AI tracking for content creators is fantastic.
@@mhalonazaro6576 Its nothing like any gimbal I’ve ever used. It adds a look to smartphone video, you only see in movies. It holds the GoPro hero 10 perfectly. The Ai component is a must have
i admire the fact that you consider other people's financial situation and needs in other countries. most reviews i see here on youtube cater only to western and financially well off viewers. plus your reviews are very straightforward and practical. im a small youtuber from the philippines, by the way. thank you for making this (and i have watched a couple of your videos), do continue to make more. 😊
Thanks for the feedback! Glad you enjoyed it and found it helpful!! I agree with you, many times reviewers don’t really consider the whole picture when putting up their content…
I was seconds away from buying the Flow--after seeing some reviews online. I wanted to take one more look to verify things and came across your review. It was evident that all of the points you've mentioned were correct. There's no way I'm going to buy the Flow. Now, I'm going to look more closely at the Holem. I'm glad to find someone who is giving an honest review and has real knowledge on these things. Thanks!
Did you see my other video for an actual review of the Flow gimbal itself? I think you'll find it very enlightening and reassuring that you have made the right decision... Do you have any other gimbal in mind?
@@SamuelSotiega Yes, an amazing and revealing review. That solidified my decision. As for a particular gimbal, I'm still looking around. Actually, I'm still in a state of shock--trying to recover from everything about the Flow--and will need to figure out what's next. Thx!
I want to thank you I have watched many videos and found your videos very useful and finally I have decided to purchase hohem M6. After I watched your video on insta 360 flow I found that gimbal have many flaws and M6 is better than that in every espect.
Tilt restriction on the Insta360 is so bad. Used to own it. I flipped it (bought it used low price and sold it a little higher - Praise God) gonna get the M6 now
Excellent review. The information you provided was exactly what I was looking for. All my questions were answered. Was leaning towards the Insta360 Flo. However, after your review and comparison, I'm now more inclined to purchase the Hohem M6. Big Thanks!
Great Review. I was going for the insta, but after this video I think I will go for the hohen. Thanks a lot for helping me make this decision. One question: which tripod are you using with it. I want to get one that is stable enough to hold the gimbal, a iPhone and maybe later some more. What do you recommend? I don’t have that big of a budget. I don’t want to spend much more then 50$ to 70$. Thank you very much. Best regards
Thanks for your feedback! I would suggest this amzn.to/3sM8fHi and it will still leave you some money for something else too... This one also is great as it gives you the ability to use it as a monopod, which can be very handy and it doesn't have the crank-up handle the other one has, which you might or might not find annoying amzn.to/3R4tTjy. I hope this helps.
This was a great review! I was trying to decide between a DJI Osmo 6 Mobile and Insta360, but saw some negative user reviews on Amazon. (I especially don’t like sharing all my photos and videos with China, but lots of complaints about not working or short lifetimes. This review has me seriously looking at Homen now. - But then I really like the 360 and Osmo’s subject tracking :-/ One thing I like about out the Osmo 6 despite the data sharing is how simple the apps user interface is and how well-integrates with the phone, as I’m a very novice and will be only very occasional iPhone videographer. I’m curious, what separate video recording app would you recommend for someone like me? (Overall, this is one of the most thoughtful and comprehensive gimbal reviews I’ve seen. Your channel deserves a lot more subscribers!)
Well, I only use thre hohem app for adjusting settings. To be frank, I use blackmagic camera app and never the hohem app, but recently I noticed they had added functionality and frame rates, like 25fps and a better layout that resembles the DJI MIMO app. As I am on iPhone I canlt really say, but I believe they have a decent Android implementation. But if you have a camera app that you already use and are happy with it, i reckon you will be able to keep using it and only use the hohem app if you like it or for settings, and maybe timelapse... I hope this helps..
Hi Samuel, I order a Flow today before I saw your video :) I go try the Homen M6 also!! But this video is now 11 months ago. Are there changes? Is the Homen the best now or are there other Gimbals you advise? Your video is very useful, thank you. And which external app do you talk about?
I still use the M6 to this date dn it works just as good. I use the blackmagic camera app with my smartphone and I get amazing results. On a 15 pro max with apple log the footage looks incredible. Plus, you can record Apple Log on H265, which means you don't need massive storage capacity at all either...
What app do you use? The default apple app or Blackmagic? If you use blackmagic’s app it allows you to set the recording to h264 or h265 in apple log and you save tonnes of storage without compromising on noticeable quality..
I use iPhone so I don't really know. On the iPhone I recommend blackmagic's camera app, but I think it doesn't work on Android, but hopefully that will change... I wish I could be of more help. Some brands have a pro version of their android app, and that might be enough... Sorry...
Your best argument is pointing out folks who want only one gimbal or can only afford one. When you need a gimbal to "do it all" there is little doubt the Hohem rises to the top. It's not perfect, but offers an outstanding list of features. The Flow cannot compete in a features contest, but tracks well, re-aquiring subject when lost, holding original subject instead of switching to others. Very portable. App provides some unique editing tools. As for "One Gimbal to Rule them All" the M6 is clearly a top choice. Some minor bugs -at least in the Android version, hope to see fixes in a firmware update.
I agree with you on the fixes for Android. The flow has a place, as I say in the video, but I feel for the majority of people needing an al-rounder, might be a disappointment. And yes the tracking is great and I do mention that. Picking up a person or object is great. I agree.
Hi, great comparison. I have a question: Can you create hyperlapse by manually object tracking a building from some distance? This is normally possible in OM6. This is my only concern with hohem m6. Thanks in advance.
The M6 has a tracker on the app that will allow you to do this, however you are limited to 24, 30 and 60fps frame rates. If you film in any of those, I would say, no problem!!
Nice to see your new video again! Thanks for the excellent review!! I got the M6 after talking to you about the M6 and the Smooth 5S last time. M6 is really great, appearance, clear OLED and ease for using, these made me choose it. Flow may be really portable, but it has too few adjustable viewing angles. Its tracking function needs to use APP to reach the amazing level, however those magic features only work well with the iPhone. Also the built-in tripod looks flimsy and unstable
@@mhalonazaro6576 The M6 is still very easy to use. If you need face tracking, I think that tracker can satisfy daily use. But there is a small disadvantage, I am not sure whether this should be defined as a disadvantage. It has two locks that can lock two axes. One of them has an up and down switch and can still be used normally. The other is locked with a tenon and has been worn out and cannot be used.
@@mhalonazaro6576 However, I think the M6 cannot shoot straight for a long time, because when shooting with the S23 Ultra before, the phone would slowly slide down. So if you are shooting in landscape orientation, I personally think it is still recommended for use at the moment.
I was looking at purchasing a Flow soon but this might convince me to get the Hohem if the app has been improved. Otherwise, do you have any suggestions for a compatible app?
The app has definitely improved and you now have an app that looks and feels like the DJI mimo app with all the frame rates and manual adjustment as one would expect.
Help me by answering me these 3 questions, please. Do you plan to use tracking? Do you plan to use phone only or lenses and filters? Any crazy moves planned, like crane-up or crane-shots?
Tracking , sometimes but probably not all the time Just phone lens , nothing will be added I got no idea what are the crazy moves you just talked aboutl ol but I guess maybe occasionally when I am doing something fun with friends and family
@@determinetothriveufff… hard to say. I am not sure. Based on your answers, and without knowing specific details, either one will do something good for you. Did you actually watch the video, where I show you the differences? Is there any aspect that particularly makes you feel over is better suited than the other?
I was inches away from buying 360, now whhhhoooooaaa, I think I’m going M6. Great review, thanks a million. How often do these gimbals update, will these be out of date in months?
Weight and size were the most important for me right after proper stabilization and tracking (I wanted to skip buying additional screen or miror). So yes, it was tight competition for me between the Insta flow and hohem.... v2! And I almost went for it not even taking the price into account! I chose better tracking and longer battery life but honestly the choice was very very difficult and i am not sure if I was right...
The V2 is a great little gimbal. And if you want to add additional functionality, you could pair it to a YC onion slider for new and remote sliding shot so you can have an additional point of view, so a gimbal could be more than just a gimbal.
Thank you for the review, I was undecided until now.. Btw what wide lense attachment you use on your phone? If it works for the pixel 6 I like to buy it..
I was looking to buy a mobile gimbal purely to do hyperlapse videos so the ai tracking in the flow still seems to be the best for this despite its other flaws
This was a really great review and I love the way you approached all the information in it to compare the two. I was considering the Insta360 flow pro until I watch this video and your other video on it. OMG so glad I watched that video and didn't buy it. I was originally interested in the Insta360 flow pro because of its compact design for travel overseas. Is there a compact gimbal you recommend for travel with an iPhone?
Glad it was helpful! Well, no compact gimbal is going to give you fill no restriction of movement, they will all do. It's part of the inherent design., if you know that and can work around those limitations, I guess any gimbal will do. Is tracking important to you or not?
@@SamuelSotiega thanks for the reply. Yes I'm starting to realise that. I'm also watching a review now for the DGI Osmo mobile 6 gimbal but suffers from the same design flaws as the Insta360 flow pro. Yes I think tracking would be good for holiday videos. I like all the range of movement of the Mohem Isteady M6. Is there a more compact gimbal that has a similar range of movement that you could recommend?
Hello, Good video explaining gimbals The Magnetic AI visionsensor is only used to film people. The sensor is useless for objects, correct? So, for those who want to use the gimbal to film landscapes, monuments, trees, animals, everything except people, we don't need the AI sensor, can you confirm? Thanks for help
Great review, I like your honest opinion! One thing that bothers me: Is it possible to connect a DJI Mic to the phone while using this gimbal or is the motor in the way?
It will be in the way of the motor but the M6 has a fair motor strength and a longer than average toll axis bar for balancing so you are probably gonna be ok with the phone attached to the phone.
Hello Mate, great review. I appreciate the detailed comparison. It helps me a lot to which gimbal to buy. If don't mind me asking what 3rd party app do you suggest instead of the hohem joy app. 😅
Thanks for the feedback i use the blackmagic camera app, as I have an iPhone. What phone do you have? I did a video some time ago about the app, look it up, if interested… And it is a free app too! Trust me, well worth it.
I like the Osmo 6 but the tracking on it is just terrible. I have yet to try the firmware update they just released. I have a Flow coming in soon and I look forward to checking it out and your full review of the device gave me a lot to consider when using. I like the Hohem model but will see how I do with the two I already have before getting a third. Your videos have definitely been very honest and I appreciate the content a lot.
Hi Samuel love your content very informative, I am looking for a Gimbal that could track my son for his basketball game 5v5, which model would you suggest for a landscape horizontal view ? Thanks
Thanks gorgeous your feedback!! It will be hard for any gimbal to keep track in that manner but based on what you tell me you want to do, with mostly tracking, probably the insta360 Flow would be your better choice. Purely for the tracking. The M6 tracks amazing but primarily for solo content creators, not so much for what you have in mind… still not sure the flow will do it but I reckon is your best bet…
For AI tracking, do you think the M6 with the AI sensor is better than the flow software AI for tracking Sports, where the subject is moving around other people and objects? I have the m6, but I am considering the flow for the AI tracking of players in sports, there they are moving in and out of people
My locations tend to be in the wilderness. Weight, or battery life not being a factor. Which one would you say is more rugged/reliable. This is one aspect I don’t see addressed. My main concern are dust/dirt. Does there appear to be, any type of dust shield on either of them?
No dust shield as such. I do feel the Hohem M6 is way more solid and rugged. The Flow at one point when I was filming my initial video collapsed while I was moving it. if you deal with dust and sand in the wild, I can see the Flow's selfie stick getting all messed up as sand would find a way in...
Samuel- as good as the M6 OLED Display is (and it is really good) -one missed opportunity is indicating if you are RECORDING! A red LED on the shutter button would work also. Why? Because when you VLOGING with the rear camera (especially when using gestures to start/stop recording) there is NO WAY to tell if it is recording or stopped. This is really annoying and I have missed entire sections; unable to tell if it is recording or not.
@@SamuelSotiega Because you mentioned in your video said there always better third party apps than company apps they offer. Maybe I misunderstood what you said in video. Thank you for replying.
I did! 😊 you can find it in the video description, but I leave it here to make it easy. Sandmarc Lenses, filters, and cases for Smartphones - bit.ly/3DS6Ezt I hope this helps!! Let me know otherwise!
Well, that was the point of the video, there is no decision right or wrong, we all have different needs and requirements. If it works for you, then job well done! 👍
Thank you very much for the detailed and honest comparison! I am very glad to see how they compare side-by-side. I am really happy to see how these gimbals were compared in terms of all the aspects, like the restrictions of movement and the level of dependence of the gimbal with the app. The only question I have, is how did you get a remote controller for the Hohem M6? I currently own one and I don’t think I have the controller included with the gimbal. I got all the other accessories including the sensor, but I don’t see a remote anywhere.
You need to buy it separately from their website. It is around $19 but I think worth it for the flexibility that it offers…. It could be a but better made in terms of components but as long as it does what it is supposed to do, everybody happy!
Grazie per il tuo intervento. Se guardi il video vedrai cosa penso di ciascuno di essi e perché. Fammi sapere se hai domande specifiche in seguito... Grazie!
It is a sandmarc case for their lenses and filters, but lately I have been using the case and filters from freewell (sherpa) and they have now a 6-9 VND which makes it perfect for daytime. When they release lenses (I am guessign they will one day) I think it will be a hard to beat system...
I just found another gimbal that has an ai tracking module just like the Hohem M6 but for much cheaper AND it has a telescoping neck. The only thing making me hesitant to purchase it is the lack of detailed reviews. It seems that it has been out for a few months now and yet I can only find poor and undetailed videos on it. The gimbal is Smove Pro Mobile X.
I looked at that gimbal just now. Sounds decent, but you will have the same tilt range issues as with the flow or the OM6 because of the design with a bracket behind the camera. I just don’t understand why they can’t make a compact gimbal the right way…
I use Sandmarc Lenses, filters, and cases for Smartphones - bit.ly/3DS6Ezt. But they are iphone lenses only. What phone do you have? If Android, consider the freewell lenses and filters as they also have a case...
Very clear and fair comparison between these 2 gimbals. I think both gimbals will have their own fans, based on each individual needs. After watching this, we can choose the gimbal that suit our personal uses and accept the limitation with peacefull mind. Thanks for the great video 😊😊.
I wouldn't call...or, even consider...this video as a "comparison" between these two gimbals. In all honesty, it's more of a "why you should avoid the Insta360 Flow, and why the Hohem iSteady M6 is your best choice". I don't mean this in any 'negative' way...but, in an EXTREMELY positive way. When the Flow was first released, there was a flood of (so-called) 'review' videos, all of which praised the Flow beyond belief, as if it was the best consumer gimbal ever produced. Yet, in all of these 'reviews', they never discussed...or, even mentioned...ANY of the flaws. Why? Because these videos were all sponsored by Insta360, thus the reviewers were, essentially, compelled to say nothing negative, so that they "protect" their ability to receive free products from the manufacturer in the future. Move forward to those reviewing the Flow who purchased them with their own money, and the truths start being heard...and, as more times passes, we find out even more about the Flow's flaws..and, why (especially for Android users) the iSteady M6 is, truly, the better, and smarter, choice. As great as Insta360 cameras are...ESPECIALLY the One X3 & One RS 1-Inch 360 Edition...they, unfortunately, have a HUGE "fail" in the Flow. Will it sell well? Of course. Especially for iPhone users. But, I'm willing to bet that 98% (or higher) of Android users will avoid the Flow like the plague. On behalf of every person...again, especially Android users...currently considering purchasing a cell phone gimbal, and is trying to decide between these two (or, even the "big 4" - the other two being the DJI Osmo OM6 & Zhiyun Smooth 5S), I thank you.
Great unbiased review. How often are you going to go down along the ground and then up...hardly ever. To me it's all about the editing and the AI editing in the 360 makes up for any loss of angles and the final video is going to be so much better, more compelling and well constructed using the flow app. If you do lots of V logging obviously the motor in the view of the flow is a deal breaker.
Thanks for yet another great review I seen your review on the 360flow after I got mine and I immediately returned it. Before your video I seen all of these other so called "influencers" swearing by the 360, heck one of them said "I have never recommended a phone gimbal but I can today," so of Course I ordered one. So upset about all them fake reviews just praising the 360flow while hiding its flaws. thanks again I ordered the HOHEM the same day I seen your hohem review. Much happier.
You will struggle regardless if you are looking at the tracker to keep track of a specific player.. Gimbals are not designed to work when so many people move so randomly in front of the camera. Is this what you have in mind?
Would be interesting to see this again but with the updated Insta360 Flex Pro. The M6 would be perfect with the IOS integration of the Flex and with the ability to use a MagSafe connection mechanism
Thank you Samuel for your review. "M6 without AI Sensor" has a way worse tracking than the "Flow". But does the "M6 WITH the AI Sensor" have a better tracking than the "Flow" ?
yes and no. Yes for people and the ability to reframe. For picking up people, like action cam mode, the flow takes advantage of the action cam technology and I feel it is a bit better. The M6 picks up but it is more designed as an AI tracker for content creators/ solo content creators where the tracking is focus on person. I feel the flow is more for "flowing" tracking. I hope it makes sense.
I bought an iSteady Mobile + because of my budget. Unfortunately the one I got from Amazon was an old version. And it was a disappointment. I ordered an M6 that will arrive this weekend. I hope it is as good as the reviews. It’s like with this gimbal, Hohem came out of nowhere and dominated the scene instantly.
I am iPhone user with no access to an Android device. All my colleagues and people I know are also iPhone users. Unfortunately all I can say is what other people say, Android implementation is not ideal. The best is to use a 3rd party app that works with your phone and use the gimbal's app for settings... But I wish I could give you more info than this though...
Thanks for the -fast aswell- answer. I got an android and everything that I read about gimbals and android is that they don't fit well. You've got a new subscriber!❤
Still unsure. I have a zhiyun crane m3 already that works with my zv1 and my iPhone with a Smallrig cage. I am looking for something that would fit my pocket but I would love to be able to use an external mic with it. The flow with a iPhone plug in wireless or lav mic might be an option. Thoughts? Also, do you know if the light that comes with the flows creator kit can be used both ways?
Well, if you know the limitations and you need a pocket gimbal, I guess either the flow or the OM6 will be fine. I guess it all depends on the functionality of the app and what works best. If you add decent gimbal legs/tripod, I guess the flow could do the trick, specially if tracking is important…
hi, I have a Xiaomi mi 11 ultra, I chose this one because it has a good 5x telephoto lens that allows me to film my son's football matches, but now I would also like to get a gimbal, the flow has a better track than the one I have seen in many other comparative videos compared to the m6, but if I understand correctly, the Deep tracking of the flow only works via the flow app so I can't use the telephoto lens of my mi 11 ultra? what can I do with m6 right?
Have you tested that you can’t use your telephoto lens? The M6 tracking is frankly designed for tracking a person’s face. I don’t think it would suit what you want to achieve. The Flow, if you can use the telephoto, might be a better option. But integration with Android is not the best. I am on iPhone so I don’t think I am the best person to give advice as I don’t have access to an Android phone to try/ test…
I'm thinking of purchasing the M6 but also purchasing the anchorwork wireless mics. But if I want to plug the receiver directly into my phone then I'm not sure the gimbal will be able to hold it securely. Do you have a mic system similar to this or the DJI and have tried using the gimbal with your phone to see if it will hold without worries?
It use some boya wireless mic and the gimbal stabilises fine. As long as I don’t go crazy on the payload with phone accessories. I think I would suggest you wait for 9 days for something new. I can’t say any more but if you can wait, it will be worth it…
Is it normal for some clicking plastic sounds to come from gimbals when tilting up and down at a fairly steady pace? Almost sounds like my case of the phone in the rubber clasp but it’s not. My old and new gimbal both do this and I hear it in the audio, but maybe that’s cause I’m indoors and it is just a lot more noticeable
Well… the ai sensor has a led/rgb light, not super bright but will get you out of a pickle… if you use a long gimbal feet, you will get a decent reach very close to what a selfie stick on a small gimbal offers due to the M6 being a bit longer… not the same but… 😉
Wont stay unlocked!!!I'm on my second m6 in a week span with the same issue!! They have an issue with the lock button, it will not stay in the unlocked position. Once it rotates a full 360 it automatically locks back. Any suggestions?
Really? I don’t experience the same issue. It should just rotate. That is a real bummer, I feel for you. Send me a private message and see if I can speak to my contact at Hohem and ge this sorted out for you asap. Details in my about page here on YT.
Of coarse you conveniently left out the balancing procedure with the Hohem. The most dreaded part of gimbals. And when you want to switch to vertical mode, you have to re balance. No annoying balancing procedures with the Insta360 Flow and that's why I bought it. While your balancing, I'll be filming.
Balancing the M6 is so simplistic, i mean, you mount the phone, adjust the tilt axis slightly. Which by the time you use it 2-3 times you will know exactly where the bar needs to be, pretty much on auto-pilot, and you are done. It takes less than 5 seconds really, not worth mentioning. But look, if you feel those 5-6 seconds are so important to you that are happy to disregard all the issues the gimbal has, all I can say is, well done. I am really pleased for you that you are happy with the gimbal!
Y me parece genial. Hay de todo en la vida. Si te funciona entonces fenomenal. Quien soy yo o nadie para decir nada. Lo único que importa es que te funciona, lo demás es ruido 😀😊. Enhorabuena 👏
Which one? Both are compatible with Android but with less functionality than iOS. The flow's integration with Android feels worse than the M6. The beauty of the M6 is that you don't need the hohem app to use it and you can use your preferred 3rd party camera app. You might just go into the hohem app to adjust some settings, but for the operation itself, changing modes, etc, everything can be done on the gimbal itself, which is what makes it great too...
Very honest and balanced review of the two gimbals after initially declaring that the Flow was garbage! I chose Flow as I already have another gimbal for dslr work. The Hohem M6 seems similar in size to the new Ronin RS3 mini and should be a good buy for 1st time buyers.
Personally, i rather have a proper gimbal than a compact gimbal that compromises in quality for pretty much every type of shot that I do. I’d go the M6 route all the way, but that is just me. If you want a mega compact body ideal for travelling, being camera and gimbal, spend a bit more and get yourself a dji pocket 2, simply put, unbeatable.
You're appealing to false equivalence. Ford and Mercedes are two different things. However, I agree that you should compare Insta360 Flow and DJI Mobile 6. I have the Insta360 Flow, and it makes a lot of sense for me to use if I travel compared to the Hohem M6, which is more significant to carry. Portability between the two is "apples to oranges." However, some users used the Hohem M6 the crappy way, and the insta360 Flow the better way, vis-a-vis. It depends on the user. If you compare driving a Ford to a Mercedes, I would agree. Comparing features is different. However, the price will be. Nice video, though... thanks. Thumbs up.
To some people it seems you are biased towards M6, but the fact is M6 is the better device mechanically, although Flow360 has its gimmics but is limited in lots of ways like app restrictions, motion limitations.
Which part of my video and explanation you feel is incorrect or wrong? I also give you visual examples so you can see, not just hear. I give credit to the flow where it is superior, and the same to the M6. Simply because I state the obvious doesn’t mean that I am biased.
@@SamuelSotiega i never said you are biased, i am aligned with you in every aspect of the video. In my opinion you are the only one giving honest review. I mean other people think you are biased because every other influencer are just pushing DJI gimbal and flow360 gimbal.
@@phenomdark27 ahh! I see! Let them think whatever they want. The important thing is all the people who has written thanking me for giving an alternative view to the prevailing narrative… cheers!! 👍👍
@@SamuelSotiega i ordered my M6 Kit just after watching all your videos about it. It is much more capable gimbal in almost all the aspects i need. I specially love how some features works without the gimbal app, like a-b transition and tracking!!
as for me the ai is the only feature i need in gimbals. sad to see that m6 loses you too easily. by this moment it feels like none of them is good enough if you sum up the pros and cons. m6 only needs to improve ai, flow needs to improve ergonomics. seems like flow version 2 have more chances to become good gimbal, but i really hope that m6 will try their best and make their ai at least on the same level like the flow has. then m6 (or m6 mark 2) it will be god of phone gimbals with this detachable sensor. by the way, how does this sensor works in low light?
my experience so far has been good and only loses me when I knee down (let's say to film me reaching out to my camera bag on the floor) and it loses my face. But if I don't move super fast, even when I knee down, it works well. I might just have to raise up my head and look up somewhere (not to camera) so I know the sensor has got a clear view of my face, before I stand up. But in normal circumstances so far so good. Perfection doesn't exist but then again, I might use it in a different way that you would...
bought the Hohem m6 and returned Flow. Can someone help me buying remote for Hohem as it is not available in India, I can pay. Please let me know if anyone can help me in comments.
After having both and using both for a while... The flow: If you are on Android... PASS... the app is limited, on my Pixel 7 Pro the flow was wobbly.. it's hard to explain.. when tracking and standing still the flow looked like it was on ocean waves... swirling around crazy. Figuring out how to launch apps on top of it's tracking app to do things like live stream on FB or YT was nearly impossible... As for speed of use and mounting... I didn't find it ANY faster than the hohem because I had to first click the phone into the magnetic mount bracket THEN click it on the gimbal.. SO I still had to mount the phone on to a bracket and the bracket pushed the vol/power buttons... ROFL.. it was a PITA. The hohem app is lacking and the "Moments" tutorial/start features were not very good... it's hard to time even with the music. I ended up just doing it manually. And the AI trackign is good enough that I don't even need to use the app.. Why use the app if I can use the built in camera and STILL get tracking? Hohem wins easily for me.
I am using s23u with flow and it's very easy to use other apps like the samsung native camera app on top of the tracking app. And I feel it's unfair to talk about the AI when M6 + the detachable AI camera is more expensive than the flow, it's no longer "apple to apple" that this video is trying to convey. It's literally 50 bucks more, of course it HAS to be better
@@hirukashiro5995 When I first made the comparison they were roughly the same price and the flow didn't work as well for me. Now it may be a different story... let me check. Nope.. they are still roughly the same price... equally outfitted... you can get the M6 base without the AI camera and still use software to track which works just like the Flow.. both are $159... The creatore kit for the flow includes a case and light.. JUST like the M6 kit which includes the case and light and AI Camera tracker and BOTH are $209... so exact same price.
@techguyMD Mmm you don't get my point lol. You DON'T need the kit for a really good AI tracking with Flow, the AI is built in, no need for accessories. It's just better for the average user who is not a camera nerd and just want to do easy seamless travel shoots. The guy in the video is trying to compare the AI tracking experience with just the Flow vs the M6 + attachment camera which is 50$ more.
@@hirukashiro5995 the flow is $159 the M6 is $209 minus the 15% discount code I give in the video, which brings it down to around €177. Still apples to apples, different shape and one slightly bigger than the other one, but still apples anyway. Plus, as the only marketed AI tracking gimbals at the time, I still feel it was a great video concept. Plus it saved a lot of people from wasting their hard earned money, or helped them reinforce the idea their decision was the right one. Job well dine I would say! 👍👍
Thanks!
I use the M6 and AI tracker a lot and I love it. You won’t be disappointed!
i bought the hohem months ago, but im not using because of its size. im looking for something i can put in my purse/pocket. so im considering a second purchase of the flow. and myabe in certain cases i can then have two camera postiions.
Spot on. The flow is a bit of a joke and the M6 is a much better gimbal for the average person. Great comparison.
Thanks! and glad you liked the video!
You ain't lying, I swear when I got mine I felt I was holding a fragile toy, not a tool.
I wouldn’t say it’s a joke, it’s what you need from a product. It will be very popular with beginners and is a great entry product
How has the M6 been for you so far?
Thx!

Perfect video! Thank you so so much for this in depth but still concise comparison! It's extremely helpful, especially for a gimbal beginner!
I am so glad you found it helpful!
Great video. Which third party app do you recommend ?
If you are on iPhone, Blackmagic app, free forever and amazing. I donlt have Android so I can;t really give you advice....
I want to thank you I have watched many videos and found your videos very useful and finally I have decided to purchase hohem M6. After I watched your video on insta 360 flow I found that gimbal have many flaws and M6 is better than that in every espect.
Hey! Thanks for a such a positive feedback! I am so glad you found the videos helpful. Stay tuned for more cool stuff!
Tilt restriction on the Insta360 is so bad. Used to own it. I flipped it (bought it used low price and sold it a little higher - Praise God) gonna get the M6 now
I think that is a very wise decision!!
Excellent review. The information you provided was exactly what I was looking for. All my questions were answered. Was leaning towards the Insta360 Flo. However, after your review and comparison, I'm now more inclined to purchase the Hohem M6. Big Thanks!
Wow, thanks for the feedback and glad you found it helpful!
- But then I really like the 360 and Osmo’s subject tracking :-/
One thing I like about out the Osmo 6 despite the data sharing is how simple the apps user interface is and how well-integrates with the phone, as I’m a very novice and will be only very occasional iPhone videographer.
I’m curious, what separate video recording app would you recommend for someone like me?
(Overall, this is one of the most thoughtful and comprehensive gimbal reviews I’ve seen. Your channel deserves a lot more subscribers!)
thanks for the feedback and I agree with you 100%
Great Video Samuel! Insta360 flow just came in, I am now selling it and ordering the Hohem M6!
Thanks for the feedback. Did you watch my review for either one of them, the M6 and the Flow?
great review... I'm between these two. I'm with S23 ultra so... what i will miss from the Hohem app... like frame and futures?
@@SamuelSotiega Thanks. record today in Apple Log. It feels a bit 'shaky'. I have to try other recordings.
What app do you use? The default apple app or Blackmagic? If you use blackmagic’s app it allows you to set the recording to h264 or h265 in apple log and you save tonnes of storage without compromising on noticeable quality..
@@SamuelSotiega I use BlackMagic now also .
What 3rd app in android do you recommend for the M6 ? Thanks
The Flow cannot compete in a features contest, but tracks well, re-aquiring subject when
lost, holding original subject instead of switching to others.
I agree.
unbiased comment👍
Hi, great comparison. I have a question: Can you create hyperlapse by manually object tracking a building from some distance? This is normally possible in OM6. This is my only concern with hohem m6. Thanks in advance.
The M6 has a tracker on the app that will allow you to do this, however you are limited to 24, 30 and 60fps frame rates. If you film in any of those, I would say, no problem!!
@@SamuelSotiega thanks 🙂
Nice to see your new video again!
Thanks for the excellent review!!
I got the M6 after talking to you about the M6 and the Smooth 5S last time.
M6 is really great, appearance, clear OLED and ease for using, these made me choose it.
Flow may be really portable, but it has too few adjustable viewing angles.
Its tracking function needs to use APP to reach the amazing level, however those magic features only work well with the iPhone.
Also the built-in tripod looks flimsy and unstable
I hope you are enjoying the M6! Thanks for watching !!
How how the M6 been for you so far? Im thinking about buying it
@@mhalonazaro6576 The M6 is still very easy to use.
@@SamuelSotiega Thanks! Definitely going to keep this one under consideration.

I was inches away from buying 360, now whhhhoooooaaa, I think I’m going M6. Great review, thanks a million. How often do these gimbals update, will these be out of date in months?
The M6 was released around March. Whether they release a new one aroudn the same time or not, it is impossible to know.... I wish I knew!
@Samuel Sotiega : Can you make a video of M6 using Android device and showing us all third party apps compatible with all functions explained ?
I’ll consider it!!
Agreed! Such as instagram, tiktok, and snapchat for vertical videos
I use sandmarc lenses, but I think they are iphone only...

Wow! Thanks for the feedback. Glad you liked the style!! 😁
Nice. what is the model and brand of the monopod you have used in this video ? Thank you so much.
Any monopod will do as long as it has a 1/4inch at the top so you can screw the gimbal on… This might help amzn.to/3PNMwId
@@SamuelSotiega Thank you so much.
I was looking to buy a mobile gimbal purely to do hyperlapse videos so the ai tracking in the flow still seems to be the best for this despite its other flaws

Oh wow, thanks for the feedback and I also wish you had!!
Great review video with thoughtful perspective. Thank you!

so the AI subject tracking is significantly better on the flow? do they both do object tracking?
Object tracking is better on the flow, yes. it is the only thing in my opinion the flow is better than the M6 or MT2 from hohem.
Hello,
Good video explaining gimbals
The Magnetic AI visionsensor is only used to film people. The sensor is useless for objects, correct? So, for those who want to use the gimbal to film landscapes, monuments, trees, animals, everything except people, we don't need the AI sensor, can you confirm?
Thanks for help
you are right, for normal use, you don't need to engage the tracking or ai tracking.
@@SamuelSotiega thank you. 😉

I just got the Flow for $90 after gift cards. It's my first gimbal ever. For that price, it's quite hard to beat.
That is a price more in line with the quality of the gimbal…
I have the m6, but I am considering the flow for the AI tracking of players in sports, there they are moving in and out of people
I don't think either will be good to be honest. Well, I don't know about the new flow pro, but I would consider XbotGo gimbals for this..
@@SamuelSotiega thanks, yeah I am looking at the xbot chameleon
My locations tend to be in the wilderness. Weight, or battery life not being a factor. Which one would you say is more rugged/reliable. This is one aspect I don’t see addressed.
My main concern are dust/dirt. Does there appear to be, any type of dust shield on either of them?
No dust shield as such. I do feel the Hohem M6 is way more solid and rugged. The Flow at one point when I was filming my initial video collapsed while I was moving it. if you deal with dust and sand in the wild, I can see the Flow's selfie stick getting all messed up as sand would find a way in...
@@SamuelSotiega thank you.
I can totally agree with you on this. Yes, that would be a very handy feature too.

Very nice informative comparison boss... All doubts cleared now.. Thank you
Glad you found the video helpful!
Hello, thanks for the great review, what case is that at 9:56 with the camera lens protection?
I just don’t understand why they can’t make a compact gimbal the right way…
What brand are those camera lens you use?
I use Sandmarc Lenses, filters, and cases for Smartphones - bit.ly/3DS6Ezt. But they are iphone lenses only. What phone do you have? If Android, consider the freewell lenses and filters as they also have a case...
Very clear and fair comparison between these 2 gimbals.
I think both gimbals will have their own fans, based on each individual needs.
After watching this, we can choose the gimbal that suit our personal uses and accept the limitation with peacefull mind. Thanks for the great video 😊😊.
Glad you enjoyed it! 👍
Wow, thanks for sharing your views! Android implementation is a shambles, I totally agree!! The M6 is a great solution for sure!!
We all work and do things in different ways and what works for one person doesn’t necessarily applies to the next. For Vlogging though, it’s a bummer…
Oh wow, that is so nice to hear! I hope you’re still happy with the decision!! Thanks for the feedback!
Hi just one question , I need a gimbal to film my football ⚽️ game which one is the best gimbal insta 360 or hohem M6 ?
You will struggle regardless if you are looking at the tracker to keep track of a specific player.. Gimbals are not designed to work when so many people move so randomly in front of the camera. Is this what you have in mind?
Great review! 👍👍👍 the lenses and tracking made me choose Hohem.
Glad you found it helpful! And good choice by the way!!
Would be interesting to see this again but with the updated Insta360 Flex Pro.
The M6 would be perfect with the IOS integration of the Flex and with the ability to use a MagSafe connection mechanism
I feel it is the same core issues as the design remains the same. They are just polishing a turd, In my opinion...
@@SamuelSotiega Yeah I do get what you meant. Thank you for replying.
It is a good gimbal, not perfect but offers a lot of functionality. Did you watch my review of the M6?
@@SamuelSotiega yes. I watched all your Hohem reviews

What about using both and dji with android?
I am iPhone user with no access to an Android device. All my colleagues and people I know are also iPhone users. Unfortunately all I can say is what other people say, Android implementation is not ideal. The best is to use a 3rd party app that works with your phone and use the gimbal's app for settings... But I wish I could give you more info than this though...
Thanks for the -fast aswell- answer. I got an android and everything that I read about gimbals and android is that they don't fit well. You've got a new subscriber!❤
So true about overseas consumer protections, or lack thereof.
I know! It is shocking!
Do both work for samsung u23?
I believe so! But the insta360 not as well. Based on people with Samsung phones who have told me or left comments.
@@SamuelSotiega thank you. I think the m6 is a little big as a pocket gimbal though. How about the light?
Is there any app that gives insta type AI features with the m6? Have a iPhone 14 pro.
No that I am aware of. The AI on the M6 is purposely designed by Hohem so it can be used independently of the gimbal…
I really enjoy your honesty in your videos, appreciate it. Subbed👍🏾
Thanks for the feedback and welcome to the club!!
hi, I have a Xiaomi mi 11 ultra, I chose this one because it has a good 5x telephoto lens that allows me to film my son's football matches, but now I would also like to get a gimbal, the flow has a better track than the one I have seen in many other comparative videos compared to the m6, but if I understand correctly, the Deep tracking of the flow only works via the flow app so I can't use the telephoto lens of my mi 11 ultra? what can I do with m6 right?
Sorry for my bad english
I can’t say any more but if you can wait, it will be worth it…
@@SamuelSotiega ok, i will await for your clue to be uncovered, because Amazon prime day is soon
@@csmoran9 hahaha, actually yes, right into amazon prime day, what a convenient coincidence!!
@@SamuelSotiega haha, ok so I'm guessing a new mic or new gimbal will be revealed by a company 🤣
@@csmoran9 the latter, but it will be something that fits like a glove what you're looking for, I think.
Which gimbals do you have? Have you tried to do a calibration with the payload as you put the phone in?
Can the hohem shoot 4k on samsung s23?
I am on iPhone land but I believe the app integrates with Samsung and Android phones without any restrictions compared to iPhones..
How's the support for Hohem on Android devices?
Better than in most other Smartphone gimbals for sure!!! Plus you get to use the gimbal with any 3rd party app without a problem…
@@SamuelSotiega thank you!
Great vide. Thanks
Glad you liked it!
Great comparison. I just wish that the Hohem had a built-in selfish stick and built-in flood lamp.

I am using Galaxy S23 Ultra. Which is batter amongst these 2? Or you have any other suggestions.
Thx in advance
The M6 is miles ahead. Plus, android implementation is shambolic in the flow….
@@SamuelSotiegasir, what about zhiyum smooth5 and dji osmo mobile 6 for s23 ultra?
So helpful! Thank you

yo estoy muy contento con el 360 flow
Y me parece genial. Hay de todo en la vida. Si te funciona entonces fenomenal. Quien soy yo o nadie para decir nada. Lo único que importa es que te funciona, lo demás es ruido 😀😊. Enhorabuena 👏
Awesome review, thank you!!
Glad it was helpful!
It's compatibile with android M6?

Hopefully I have given enough angles and different views for anyone to make an informed decision they won’t regret.
@@SamuelSotiega you have! 👏 👏
For Travel -insta 360 flow 😊
No travel - M6 😊
And if you were able to afford only 1 gimbal, which one would you buy?
Why
Nice video, though... thanks. Thumbs up.
Thanks for chipping in and sharing your opinion!
Good show!
M6 it is!
I think that’s a good choice… 👍

What gimbal are you leaning more towards?

Here's my code for the Hohem.........now why you should buy that one
if you actually watch the video you will discover why! 😂
I bought four time Hohem M6 and unfortunately all of them were crashed. Finally i bought 360.
Oh no! May I ask, from where you bought it from?
Sounds like bs
as for me the ai is the only feature i need in gimbals. sad to see that m6 loses you too easily. by this moment it feels like none of them is good enough if you sum up the pros and cons. m6 only needs to improve ai, flow needs to improve ergonomics. seems like flow version 2 have more chances to become good gimbal, but i really hope that m6 will try their best and make their ai at least on the same level like the flow has. then m6 (or m6 mark 2) it will be god of phone gimbals with this detachable sensor. by the way, how does this sensor works in low light?
my experience so far has been good and only loses me when I knee down (let's say to film me reaching out to my camera bag on the floor) and it loses my face.
@@SamuelSotiega thank you for the answer!)
I’ll take the pocket gimble. I don’t want to be lugging around a big clunky stabilizer just for my phone.

I couldn’t agree more!! You’re spot on
I am using s23u with flow and it's very easy to use other apps like the samsung native camera app on top of the tracking app.
