Great work .. True. I own the old DJI model and bought the Hohem 6. Yes, the only problem with the Hohem is switching from portrait to landscape mode. However, it is comprehensive in all aspects, especially lighting, tracking, shooting panoramas, products, interviews, and selfies. I agree with you in the end when you talked about using them in different fields. The DJI is lightweight, easy to set up, and quick to use for a job that requires taking a video or taking a picture that you would miss if you used the Hohem.
The DJI comes with the telescoping selfie stick loaded into the grip. The Homan use 1 or 2 50cm threaded on tubes (1/4" m one one end, female on the other). With the dji, you still use the grip, the homen you grip the pole and the gimbal grip is up by the phone. I wish the M6 had a telescoping selfie stick... then there would be zero comparison.
I ended up returning my M6 due to the LCD screen not coming on even when it was fully charged. I'm going to order it again eventually because it's a great gimbal and it supports the weight of my ultra 24 with case on it.
I have an older Pixel that has 0 battery life, so it needs to be plugged in to function. The reverse charging feature of the homan m6 may be my best option, even if I have to attach a external battery stick with its increased payload
@matthiaslachmund3303 Hohem just released their V3 gimbal with telescoping handle and included detachable remote. But the battery is only 1400mah (half that of the M6) and doesn't appear to have usb-c ports (for USB mic or external battery). It almost feels like they could make a perfect gimbal (telescoping handle, holds 400g weight, great integrated detachable remote, etc) but they won't. They want you to have to buy Both. The M6 is the best if you want bulletproof. If not, just buy a DJI mini cam
I bought this setup for my S24 ultra (240 grams) with freewell 1.55x lens (140 grams) and its case (60 gram). It already tops the max. load of 400 grams. But i still need counterweights. Did you run into an issue like this by any chance?
This review was like comparing a golf mk1 to a BMW M3. The Hohem is way better, has better features, much stronger and faster motors making for much smoother videos plus the auto tracking is a huge plus. Will definitely get the Hohem before the DJI any day.

Nice Video... Have you experienced any mechanical failures with the Hohem? The motors don't lock either right? It seems that there are a lot of bad reviews on this Gimbal. Is it worth upgrading to the MT2? I;ve also been reading the the DJI has terrible active tracking. Also can you use a GoPro 12 with any of these? Been trying to decide between the DJI, Hohem, and Insta 360 Flow. Last question, can you use bany of these with the blackmagic app? Thoughts?
My personal go-to currently is the Hohem iSteady M6 - it has the most all around package for me. I had no issues with the motor struggling or anything similar. the MT2 makes just sense if you use a heavier setup. I don't have a gopro so I don't know sorry! Hope this helps
hands down go hohem... if you have android it allows you to shoot full 4k 60 where the dji does not. Dji also very limited when it comes to android they are 100% more centered to apple phones always has been.
I'm sure i saw a video elsewhere that showed an easier way to move from portrait to landscape mode. They just tapped the phone and it turned using motors. Can you confirm this?
I bought the OM5 to replace my OM1. Now I'm back with the OM1 !!! OM5 (and OM6) is more for filming yourself and very limited cinematic move. But on the positive side, it is very compact. Choose wisely... :))

The only couple things I can see where the m6 outdoes the om6 is the tilt angle and the fact it can carry a heavy load. People will say that with the m6… you can use other apps but from what I understand you can do that with the om6 as well. When both are used with other apps their features are limited. The m6 seems awful cumbersome to operate.
regarding vertical and landscape: Shooting vertical videos is ONLY useful for tik tok and other crap like that. All other normal and healthy people use landscape mode only. edit: also the hohem AI light you showed DOES NOT COME with isteady m6. It only comes with KIT version of it.

I purchased both. I like the Hohem more because of the mobility…however I cannot for the life of me figure out how I can make it work with a plug in mic while in portrait mode. I have an iPhone and need an adapter. The adapter sticking out of the bottom of the phone hinders any movement. Have you figured out a work around?
The question is when you are using the wireless mic. If you are a vloger and using your own live narrative on the location, a mic attached to the mobile phone is good. But if you are using a wireless mic, attaching the receiver is a big problem, as the mobile phone has to be slided much left of the gimbal arm, and you will end up in unbalanced mobile cam. This is the case of wireless mics like Rode and DJI. I am using Boya wireless mic so that there is no balancing issues and I can reverse charge my mobile through the receiver type C port. I am using Hohem M6 with Beastcam camera app in my normal iPhone 13. And Beastcam allows me to shoot in 10bit. 4k @30fps. When it comes to 10 bit the app restricted 60fps.

I’m confused why you didn’t mention that the OM6 has a telescope arm and therefore a much much wider range of use cases?
i am not a fan of it to be honest as the entire thing just becomes less stable and feels more filmsy. For certain scenarios definitely helfpul though!
