I’ve had a pocket three for six months and I took it out of the box and it sits there watching you walk around and video scenes. Oh it is so much easier than holding a phone or a big camera. You’ve convinced me I’ve got to get it out and learn how to use it. Thanks for the review.
You sold this camera perfectly!!! every use I would use it for for actually. only thing I would want to see is used at night but you shown everything I needed
I feel ya, I tried vlogging once in Home Depot and kept having people mistake me for talking to them and then the humiliation of responding. “No. I’m talking to my camera.” So now I avoid it at all cost and figured screw it if I’m going to film in public I do it on my iPhone (selfie cam, even it’s not the best quality it’s good enough.)
I love the extended protection plan with DJI - in regards to your statement about the screen feeling a little flimsy. $35 for 1 yr, $55 for 2 yrs, which includes 4 replacements is wild. I've had a great experience with DJI's protection plans in the past with my Air2S drone. I've crashed 2 of them, and never had an issue with getting a quick replacement ( less than 5 days). So that mitigates for me any mishaps that I might have with this device. Thank you for this review!
I don't have ANY video camera for me or my family. I've watched NUMEROUS pocket 3 reviews without commenting, but I really do enjoy your real world use so I felt I needed to. Trying to decide if this is worth the price tag for our anniversary trip next year and just a really good family video camera overall to document life...
Sometimes my hands shake due to meds i take. So I truly think this is my best option even though they're expensive for a new vlogger. I saw people in Costa Rica having to travel in 2's and 3's to get shots and it seemed to annoy the locals.
One of the best and most comprehensive tests I've seen of this camera, comparison with ND filters and iPhone were extremely useful, as well as the mic comparisons. Thanks!
I think the lens is locked at 2.0 so you’ll always have bokeh. Without the ND filter, the bokeh was similar. But the shutterspeed goes up without the ND filter in your example.
Thank you so so much for making this video, I just picked one up and I was so concerned of how well it would work outside and particularly by the beaches as I live in Florida.. So for that thank you ❤❤❤❤ I’m so excited to start using it to tape my content for my channels … Thanks 😉 lovely video.
I have been seeing nothing but 24fps for frame rate on other videos and I have to say that when vlogging, the 60fps looks much better! In my opinion anyway. Great video, I am looking to pick up a OP3 soon!
This was a good video; one of the questions I had had was can one use more than one microphone? YES! watch the video. follow up question; how many mics could be used if you know? Thanks.
I picked up a Feiyu Gimbal camera. It works well in that it shoots nice footage, just not quite as nice as the OMP3. So the problems with that camera were that it’s audio mic is not up to par. There is also no external option with it. When I finally discovered that when I attempted to play back some footage on it there was no sound..the undit didn’t have an onboard speaker. That was enough for me. So I just ordered the OMP4 Creator Version, which arrives tomorrow. Looking forward to it. Thanks for the all around great demo of it, along with your thoughts about how it works along with its accessories…I wasn’t aware that it actually comes with lens filters, and thanks as well for your description of the way the DJI Mic 2 works with the camera. I think the OMP3 will be perfect for my use cases. One of them will be filming while onboard our sailboat on the way to Catalina Island this Thursday! Can’t wait for that trip!
Good video. I just picked up the OP3 in a reshuffling of what gear I use. Looking forward to getting started with it when I travel. Wireless mics are a compromise in convenience vs performance. Wired lav is the best, but the DJI 2 isn't bad. From what I could see in the video, you're actually wearing it too low. Distance matters with these mics.
Nice review. But Actually, an ND filter’s primary function is to reduce the amount of light entering the camera, allowing you to use different exposure settings without overexposing the image. It also allows you to leverage the 180 degree shutter rule in bright conditions when it comes to motion blur. It doesn’t directly affect the depth of field or bokeh. But sincerely thanks for the review. Great work. 👍🏽
i have pocket 3 but i used to run around with pocket 2. and that gimbal is durable as fck. it took a beating from me. sometimes I would put in on a car which it clangs around for 6 hours at a time. it survived
Looks like the internal mic picks up a lot more surrounding noise and the mic2 setup quiets the surrounding noise kind of like noise cancellation. And it sounds a little more dull. But nice. Can't wait to try mine.
Nice review. For some reason the Pocket 3 exposes faces much better in Normal color mode even in backlit situations. When in Dlog it does not exposes faces well with heavy backlight. I rarely use the wide angle adapter. To much distortion in my opinion. I know it can be corrected in post processing, but the point of the Pocket 3 for me is to have an easy to use camera with minimal post processing.
Very nice! The only reason I didn’t get it was because it’s so fragile. I didn’t want to baby it the entire time. I had problems with my DJI Osmo Mobile 6 gimbal and had to return it so until there’s a waterproof follow up, I’m sticking with my GoPro.
I’m from AZ and I was stressing the whole time when you were walking near those cactuses 🌵everyone stays away from them because they shoot out and stuff
Your comment about filming more is what has me really interested. The ease of use and simplicity to get useful footage is tough to beat. Great real world review with just enough of the tech to help us see how it'll work.
Hi, thanks for the info....For someone just starting the vlogging journey and still not yet purchased a camera as such (just been using my phone for now) would you say this would be a good choice or should I stick to a 'typical' camera? I really like the look of this and from the reviews im seeing all sound positive.
I’m thinking about investing in the Pocket 3. I already have a vlogging on the move GoPro setup but this would be a great backup. Thanks for sharing your experience. It was helpful. Take care ✌️😎
Great one, l have the pocket 3 aswell trying to learn it. This one was helpful to see how everthing looking and Nice to see the pop ups to see the settings that it filmed with 💪
I use a ZV-E1 with a 11m lense from sigma, a gopro 9 + 11, and a sony mark 7 But. I have to admit that the osmo pocket 3 is just PERFECT it can easily replace both of my gopro and my mark 7, so yeah definetly getting one!
I have ZVE1, awesome camera and thus cannot match the image quality at all. BUT I’ve one of these for when I want simplicity, small setup and travel. For example, I’m on a business trip today in my new EV. I want to capture a range test over the next 2 days. Just take the Osmo. Do one of the hotel resort reviews I do, I’ll use my main camera, or my at home TH-cam barbecue etc, I’ll use the main camera. I’m off to Abu Dhabi soon, they get funny about people filming with larger cameras, take the Osmo. What I’m saying is they both have their place.
The ND filter shouldn't affect the Bokeh at all since the aperture is fixed. It only affects the shutter speed. Personally, I don't think it's that useful since I don't really care about the 180 degree shutter rule
I really like this video. Is it difficult to edit the footage? I have a Hero 11 but it’s so hard to compress the content and it makes it very challenging to record edit post in a seamless manner.
Nice work. Got some big muscles there man.. I love the p3, but it felt like a toy until I put it in a "scotty makes stuff" pro case..Now I think I am a pro..😝
@@techbymidas I am absolutely loving it. I went in completely blind for my first recordings, using a few tips I picked up from your channel and others. man, this camera is actually so good and the size is incredible, no heavy things to hall around! I'll have to pick one up.
So worth it if you like to film without all the hassle!

One of the best and most comprehensive tests I've seen of this camera, comparison with ND filters and iPhone were extremely useful, as well as the mic comparisons. Thanks!
Finally somebody who actually did a blog with the camera and not just record the camera
I shot way more videos than before after I got the P3. I think it is something to do with the flipping screen to start the gimbal, so satisfying.
So easy and quick to use! I definitely film more with it than I did before :)
I think the lens is locked at 2.0 so you’ll always have bokeh. Without the ND filter, the bokeh was similar. But the shutterspeed goes up without the ND filter in your example.
That makes sense! The footage is just softer with the ND filter on vs. not
Not sure you can ever expect much bokeh from a 1 inch sensor. 2.0 is basically 5.4 full frame.
