    Thank you for actually explaining and showing. I was going crazy trying to figure out that rubber seal.

    I got the same exact jack and I did not purge it. It would not stay still when I used it. It was dangerous until I learned that I had to bleed the air. Thank you for showing us. You literally saved my life.

    I noticed you had a piece of wood on the pad of your jack instead of using a piece of wood get a couple of hockey pucks they were crate and leave no marks. you can even cut a v on one side of the pot and leave the other side smooth.

      You can also make a custom, made to fit pad for your jack from an old tire. The trick is finding a shredded piece of tire large enough to cut a piece from it. Oh wait! I should be able to score some shredded tire pieces from any large tire shop in the area of which I live. Yes! Good info there, perhaps I'll do that. Oh wait! What about just cutting a piece out of a whole tire? Well, you can do that but then you'd need to either store the rest of the carcass or get rid of it and therein lies the rub. Generally speaking, you cannot just toss a tire into the trash because it isn't legal to do so. This means you might have trouble disposing of what you don't use. The bottom line is to make sure you can do what you want to do without it becoming a problem or cost a bunch of money. That's why just grabbing a piece of a tire that's already shredded works so well. Just keeping your eyes open while driving along the highway for a larger chunk of tire is a good option too. Best wishes!

    Craftsman and harbor freight are now the same. They order different color paint thats about it.

      +vankmen1 Always possible with bigger items like this. Only a few companies actually make the pistons and jack parts for everyone according to their style.

    Just in case this helps other people, in my case that rubber seal was gray, same color as the jack, so it actually looked like it did not have a seal, but it did

    I see several suggestions though when you read the orange sheet from Craftsman waning to purge air first, they say the air may be released while the handle is DOWN not UP. The orange cap mentioned in the posts below would not be visible with the handle down. Followed your instructions worked like a charm, thanks for the video!

    OK... So this is day 3 of being trapped because my foot was under the tire when I let the car down and the jack quit working. I have the fluid within reach,but cannot reach the screwdriver. My wife just shakes her head at me saying: you men think you know everything. But she still brings me dinner and has sex with me. I wonder what she's gonna do when its time for me to go to work, because she likes money.

    If there is air in there and pinching the plug lets it out, whay not remove the plug and top it off with jack oil and replace the plug? To me that would make sence, less air means more room for oil.

    My Michelin jack stopped lifting all of a sudden. There was a tiny breathing hole that got covered with dirt. Cleaned it nicely, pumped a few times and now it's lifting again ! I guess many of these jacks just get filled with air and stop lifting at some point th-cam.com/video/g0DOPFcWBSY/w-d-xo.html

    I have the same jack but it is from rodac. It's a nice jack but watch out when you lower the jack under pressure because the car will come down very fast.

    I bought this package as well, at sears. I was wondering how the jack is working for you so far. I've read some reviews, and they say its unsafe. For example, it drops your vehicle really fast and what not. But it's a craftsman. It shouldn't fail that easily.

    • @cedicol
      @cedicol 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      narinderpal kahlon Yes, they go down very fast. When you lower the car you have to be very carful not to turn the lever tomutch or the car fals down very hard. You say it's a craftsman, well I have the same one but it is red and it's from rodac. It's just a name the put on it but that's all. For hobby use it's very good but if I would work on cars professional I would not buy this one.

    • @kahlonl5p804
      @kahlonl5p804 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      cedicol thank you. I used it for for a recent oil change and it worked perfectly fine for me. all i did was purge the air whenever i needed to use it. overall, didn't give me trouble and the oil change was successful. also isn't their any place to add grease like you can on the pittsburgh jacks from harbor freight? i didn't find a place and thought it would help decrease the chances of the jack lowering the vehicle very fast.

    Hi I got a harbor freight 1.5 ton racing floor jack, I turned it counterclockwise to open the valve and to bleed it, I kept turning it counterclockwise and it never reaches the end/limit (should have a limit right?) and when I bleed it a moving rod thing connected to the lever started to leak. Cleaned it up and later closed the valve and tested it again, still leaked. It's defected right shouldn't leak at all? And hydraulic fluid should be all the way up and you can see it clearly when you open the fill hole? I can see the oil moving when I pump it but can't see the fluid level.

      Donda Nana It can be frustrating but with a small flathead screwdriver and some patience you can do it. Push the rubber plug into the hole as best you can then use the screwdriver to gently push the other side where it's hanging up down into the hole.

    That rubber plug is damn near impossible to get out and put back in. And on my Craftsman 3 ton floor jack the tip of the rubber plug broke off and fell back into the fill tank. What I am going to try to do to get it out without taking the jack apart is put two metal chairs opposite of each other and put the jack on them upside down with the pumping mechanism removed. I am going to use blocks of wood to get it level to drain the oil. And tie it down. Then when all the oil is out I am going to use a vacuum cleaner hose to hopefully suck it up to the hole. And if I can get it to the hole, I'm gonna take tweezers and *hopefully* pull it out of there. Then when and if I get it out. I am gonna tap threads into that hole. That's with the jack upside down. If anybody has any suggestions I'm all open.
