Tried it and it fixed my at least 10 year old Harbor Freight 3 ton floor jack. worked on my 22 yr old costco 3 ton floor jack that only recently started showing signs; I used it to keep pressure on a keel guard on my boat and when I'd check it in the morning, it would be 3" lower. I jacked it all the way, gave it 6-8 pumps looking for leaks and listening for anything "giving way" and after no apparent leaks, I lowered it.. brought it all the way back up, then lowered again. Put the block of wood back on and braced the keel guard under the boat; left overnight and checked in the morning. Still in position and wood block still tight against the keel guard. THIS WORKED GREAT! But seeing the rapid lift jack you used for demonstration, I still bought a new rapid lift jack anyway. My old one will be for when I need a second jack. GREAT VID!! THANX HUGE!!!

Hi there. Thanks for the advice. Dad gave me a jack that when you turn it to lift it never gets to the end of the twist. You can keep tightening. It does goe up and everything, creeps down slowly but curious about the turning of the lever. I thought you have to get to a point where is completely tight and then start lifting
Hey Steve Rob. This advice actually worked. My jack which I thought was junk is now holding pressure again and staying up. Thanks for posting this Man!

I have a datona floor jack that goes down as soon as I lift the handle up. when trying to figure it out, I put it under a car, lifted the pad assembly up to the lift point and pumped it once, it started lifting, as soon as I lift the handle up, it goes all the way down as if I had opened the valve, this has twin pumps on it, what do you think?

I have a 2 /12 Ton Turin Floor Jack and have had very little success getting the air out as you have shown. When the lift arm is completely up, I can push on it, and the crank handle starts to shutter for a bit as the lift arm falls back a smidge. No matter how many times I attempt to bleed all the air out, seems like I can not get there. I don"t see any oil drops on any portion of the jack. Any thoughts on what else I could try?
Been having trouble with my 3 ton floor jack for years. Slowly leaking down and getting worse. Tried this procedure today that your video suggests and WALA it is now working normally. Thank you for this video suggestion!
Oh no way! I'm going to try this as I noticed that my 11 year old Jack started doing this. It doesn't happen so fast that I can't get hack stands under it but still enough to be annoying when I want it to hold. I'm not leaking any oil so I think this will work for me! Thank you
WOW, it worked. Had this jack for 40 years and then it let me down. Good to go for another 40. I am keeping the bent nail that holds the handle together though.
Thanks for this trick. My 2 1/4 ton jack started doing this for the first time. I jacked it up all the way with no weight and kept pumping about 20 more times. Went to try it again and it worked perfectly..
MUCH appreciate fix my HF 1.5 in minutes. My valve would barley turn at all. After I got it to raise all the way up, I kept pumping 10 times . Bam valve started turning all the way open & closed. :)
What do you do if the jack won't lift at all? I've got a brand new Pittsburgh 3 ton from harbor freight, even after bleeding it won't lift. Any suggestions?
I would take a good look at the valve that controls the jack and make sure it does screw in all the way . If its not seating right it will never go up.
STEVE ROB REVIEWS problem solved! There's a screw at the bottom of the hole the handle goes in, I simply removed the screw and this gave the handle enough room to grip that valve! Thanks for your help, and I hope my post helps someone else.
Thanks Steve,I"ve got a 40 year old,2 ton floor jack that I bought new, never failed me until today. It"s doing exactly what you say,no sign of leaks so this is probably the problem,I mean,it can"t be bad, already!
I have a Pallet Jack that does the same thing. After I Jack it up it starts dropping and I can barely move the Pallet Jack a foot before the Pallet lays on the floor again. I should mention there is no leaking going on. Do you think this procedure would work for a Pallet Jack? I don’t use the Pallet Jack much at all which probably isn’t helping the situation.
Thanks so much for your time and effort to produce this video. I just did this to my creeping not so old Craftsman floor jack and it worked great. Chuck Pittsburgh

I can’t believe this worked on my jacks!! But I got to cuz I’m looking right at em!!! Thanx for the great tip and saving me a bunch of money!!!
Glad I could help!
Perfect title for your excellent video. My 1976? Sears 1.5 ton never leaked a drop floor jack works like new again. I figured it had to be something simple. I think I'll leave a couple pumps in the cyl from now on when I'm not using it. I think I remember reading you should do that with pump type things. Thanks a Million for sharing your valuable experience!!!!!
Just glad to help . Cheers
Hi there. Thanks for the advice. Dad gave me a jack that when you turn it to lift it never gets to the end of the twist. You can keep tightening. It does goe up and everything, creeps down slowly but curious about the turning of the lever. I thought you have to get to a point where is completely tight and then start lifting
Yes the handle must be turned in tight to lift . Cheers
Hey Steve Rob. This advice actually worked. My jack which I thought was junk is now holding pressure again and staying up. Thanks for posting this Man!
Terrific, so glad to have been some help. Cheers
Thank you. This actually fixed our jack that we've been tryin to fix for bout a year. Thank you very much
Awesome Jessica so glad to see it helped . Cheers 👍
I’ve had the problem of my old jack slowly dropping, I’ve had time to get a stand underneath but it’s been getting worse, I’ve tried filling and bleeding and still wasn’t any better. I gave your method a go and now my jack works perfectly!! Thank you for saving me money
Awesome David so nice to see. Cheers
I just started having this problem with my jack this year, the jack is 15-20 years old. I will try this tomorrow! Thank you!
Sure give it a try . Cheers
I watched a few videos before yours and decided to try the simplest solution first. Can't believe it, but this worked for me. Thanks.
Terrific Jeff so glad to have helped.
Great tip had that trouble with my jack for over 20 years.
Thanks Danny - if it happens again give this a try.
At first I did not believe that this hack fix will work. Tried it on my jack that has been in storage for the past couple of years. It works. I have Now a working jack. Thanks Steve for sharing.
Awesome Philip 👍
Duh, I learned this trickr more than 50 year's ago, but it's good to hear that you are sharing this quick easy fix. Great video 👍
That's proof right there , with age comes wisdom . Sharing is a good thing . Cheers 👍
Wow, was on the way out the door to get a new jack, figured I'd Google first, and BAM, jack is working fine. VERY nice!
Thanks,,,,
I have a datona floor jack that goes down as soon as I lift the handle up. when trying to figure it out, I put it under a car, lifted the pad assembly up to the lift point and pumped it once, it started lifting, as soon as I lift the handle up, it goes all the way down as if I had opened the valve, this has twin pumps on it, what do you think?
I think a rebuild kit may be your best option.
Wise info,how about jack oil
If it's too low that causes the same fault.
Thanks for the tip! .. was wondering what happened to my Michelin floor jack..stored it for a year and now it leaks down..
John mine does this every spring until I get the air out as shown . It's a great Jack . Cheers
Good tip I’ll try it!
@stuwemhoener5937 Good Luck 👍
Hello..my name is Marwan and I am from Libya.. I came across your channel the other day.. I tell you what..I love the stuff you talk about... now I am proudly big fan of your videos.
Thanks Marwan , much appreciated . Libya wow it's -40 here and + 40 there - too hot for me and too cold for you :)
+STEVE ROB REVIEWS correct it's quite warm in Libya.. but currently I am in Istanbul and it's freezing right now.. anyway I appreciate your reply.. thanks
I’m gonna try that on my Jack. It’s the same as yours but red and Snap On branded, they call it ‘The 4 pump beast’. Great tip with the T bar as well. Cheers buddy
Rob make a quick tip vid - a before and after and i'm thinking it would so well . People struggle with this condition constantly . Cheers buddy
Reminds me of a girl from high school 🤣
And now she lives in your house - awesome mate :)
STEVE ROB REVIEWS haha
Did you try?
Will this work if you only lift so tires clear the ground for brake job , i leave jacked up over nite in the morning its deflated , I've been placing the tire i took off under the car
It just might so give it a try Jim .
@@SteveRobReviews in the words of the late great jed clampett, weee dogeee it worked thanks Steve
@@Jim-bx7vs Almost better than possum shanks and boiled mule 👍
@@SteveRobReviews 🤣😂🙂 yes sirrr
This hack solved the exact problem I had with a motorcycle jack that wasn’t used in several months. Thanks!
Awesome Ken , as it seems letting a jack sit not used seems to cause this condition but now you know how to revive it. Cheers
Well good sir, that worked like an absolute charm. So, now got the winters on my wife's car today and she is ready for the winter. Many thanks. Dave
Awesome David so glad it worked for you too. Cheers
I would check to make sure it's not low on oil first . If the oil is full your most likely needing a seal kit to repair it.
Been having trouble with my 3 ton floor jack for years. Slowly leaking down and getting worse. Tried this procedure today that your video suggests and WALA it is now working normally. Thank you for this video suggestion!
Fantastic Mike . Cheers
great tip steve i need to try that we have one in the shop that doses that
Now theres a vid before and after. I wish I had an example of the before.
You are the 5th person in the last 2 weeks who says will try the tip, but nobody has come back to let us know if it worked...
Great tip... I'm going to try tomorrow...
@@Hellofrank35 👍
Oh no way! I'm going to try this as I noticed that my 11 year old Jack started doing this. It doesn't happen so fast that I can't get hack stands under it but still enough to be annoying when I want it to hold. I'm not leaking any oil so I think this will work for me! Thank you
Adam give it a try . Cheers 👍
WOW, it worked. Had this jack for 40 years and then it let me down. Good to go for another 40. I am keeping the bent nail that holds the handle together though.
Awesome 👍
Thanks for this trick. My 2 1/4 ton jack started doing this for the first time. I jacked it up all the way with no weight and kept pumping about 20 more times. Went to try it again and it worked perfectly..
Julio that's fantastic , so glad to help. Cheers
MUCH appreciate fix my HF 1.5 in minutes. My valve would barley turn at all. After I got it to raise all the way up, I kept pumping 10 times . Bam valve started turning all the way open & closed. :)
@@RobfromArkansas Terrific 👍
What do you do if the jack won't lift at all? I've got a brand new Pittsburgh 3 ton from harbor freight, even after bleeding it won't lift. Any suggestions?
I would take a good look at the valve that controls the jack and make sure it does screw in all the way . If its not seating right it will never go up.
STEVE ROB REVIEWS that seems to be the problem, the valve the handle is inserted in isn't even turning. I guess it's defective.
STEVE ROB REVIEWS problem solved! There's a screw at the bottom of the hole the handle goes in, I simply removed the screw and this gave the handle enough room to grip that valve! Thanks for your help, and I hope my post helps someone else.
Awesome buddy glad to see its fixed.
Thanks Steve,I"ve got a 40 year old,2 ton floor jack that I bought new, never failed me until today. It"s doing exactly what you say,no sign of leaks so this is probably the problem,I mean,it can"t be bad, already!
Hope it helps since its almost new :)
I'd give it a try , sure.
Thanks so much for your time and effort to produce this video. I just did this to my creeping not so old Craftsman floor jack and it worked great. Chuck Pittsburgh
Thanks Chuck , just awesome to see it worked for you . Cheers
Glad I found your video right before I was about to toss out my old jack. Saved me 100 bucks! Thank you
Glad to hear Kenny .👍
Thanks! Can't wait to try that later! Hope it works! I will let you know!

@@SteveRobReviews I'll be turning 60 this month, my girlfriend is 17 years younger. She was building a flower box along side of the house, pryer to that she put life insurance on me, I told her that this old body is no good for fertilizer. When we come to a stairs I let her go first so feel a little safer:) I said, when we go to the mall get a wheel chair push me around for practice before I turn 80:) If she don't laugh at my funny ways it don't matter, I laugh at my own jokes anyway, I call it the happy medium. A woman kicks her husband out off the house and said with a loud voice as she was tossing his cloth's over the lawn, I hope you live a miserable life, he replied, oh you want me to stay do you?
Magic trick 👌🏽 I was ready to tear it down. Such a simple trick
Works very well for most . Cheers 👍
Awesome, I’ve had this craftsman for over 4 years, it if started slowly lowering a couple years ago and i thought it was defective. She works perfectly now, thank you
Terrific Mike , your all good now that you know how . Cheers
