Pattern: Use this convenient modern method to accomplish this step! Juul (and me): But if I don't get to stab it over and over again, What's the point? Where's the fun? How will I release my inner rage?
Half the time I'm cursing the modern instructions. All my husband hears is: what the hell does that even mean?? You know no no no it doesn't need to be this complicated for no reason I'm gonna do it my way.
I think the sewing instead of the gluing gave it a much neater finish! Also I love the silk fabric you used, it looks so good on the finished hat. Congratulations to a lovely outcome of your first millinery adventure!
Thank you! I do think using the right materials helps so much for a good result. I remember diy-ing a hat with random wire and polyester and it was so disappointing.
I agree, no glue. And yes, you correctly consulted with the supervisor on the final decoration decisions. You are most fortunate to have such an attractive supervisor ;)
Stunning! I still couldn’t help but wince when the big vintage ribbon was cut. Because I am silly, and I would just hold on to it and never use it. Even though it makes no sense.
I've folded extra ribbon or lace to the back of a garment or accessory in order to keep from cutting it. Then the lace or ribbon can be removed and reused if needed. Rather hard to do if you have oodles of it, though. Super-duper hat and right on the mid-1790s note! Delightful video.
Millinery mischief is absolutely adorable and I’m hugely impressed with the results! And kitty inspector is incredibly cute and the murder claws going for the button made me giggle! Love the hat and the insanely wide vintage ribbon gives it that absolute perfect final touch! Thanks for sharing!!!!
Love the stabby stabby hat. It was a good thing that the Very Important Inspector of Quality Control was there to supervise you, or this might have been difficult. Stay well.
How delightful this was. 😊 I love the finished hat. Your selection of gorgeous ribbons and buttons is most enviable, however they are in good hands and not squandered or hoarded as they would be with me. And Wegie🤗❤️stealing the show and my heart. Thank you Juul, another triumph beautifully shared. Xx
About vintage haberdashery: it's equally sad to use them and not to use them. To use them is scary because you cannot uncut them, you can only use it once. To not use them is sad because they are not fulfilling their purpose... the solution is to hoard so much you can do both 😏
Sheesh the amount of decoration, and yet compared to “the times” modest and scaled back. Lovely colors and I particularly like the textured tower part (clearly I’m a hat expert lol)
That will never, ever come apart. Pfffffff...tape and glue...not in this lifetime. I adore the way the light pulls the colours out of the shirred silk. So gorgeous. The fial product is big, beautiful, and amazingly over the top. In other words, perfect. I'm sure His Floofness the QC officer approved whole heartedly. Thanks for sharing!
Your expression when the thing broke was priceless! I love how patient you are and how much concentration you give to everything you do. Watching you create is very soothing Juul. I loved the finished hat too, looks very smart and antique!
Hello!🙋♀️ I have long been delighted with the pill box hats of the 30's & 40's. I want to learn how to make them. Your hat adventure has inspired me. Thanks for sharing! Blessings and Happy Autumn! 🌟💖🌾🍄🌻🍂🥧☕🍁✨👒🎉
Stunning and while I am not a hat expert I think you made a good call by not using glue. Maybe they recommend glue so you can save some time but I feel the stitching will make it last longer.
I loved your concentration, and the evident joy that you got from constructing your hat. As I’m sure you know, you are also the owner of a beautiful cat. Thank you for a pretty pleasant interlude.
When you said big bow, I never expected it to be THAT big xD It works for this hat though, and I love how the other decorations work with it - it would have been so lonely withouth them. Fortunately one can still see the shirring, it would have been a shame if all of it was covered up. I definitely wouldn't mind seeing more hats from you, I love this one!
The hat turned out absolutely fabulous!! Thank you for partnering with my webshop, it's always such a pleasure to watch your videos and a huge inspiration. And of course the Weeg made an excellent choice in choosing the bow ;)
Ah... how your videos are soothing to the mind and soul. You are always inspiring me to a project. The hat is lovely and I can see that it was a ton of work. As always I love the Mr. Kitty and your clever comments. Thanks for the therapy!
Beautiful! I appreciated the stabby approach to construction, as I also enjoy stabbing things...um...I mean fabric, repeatedly. Be well, and have a joyous week.
Those colors have a very Absinthe or Creme de Menthe vibe going which is very fun. I'm also glad you are a rule breaker and hold yourself to a higher standard sans glue.
hello , bless your heart , for all of the painstaking detail and quality you put into your hats . it is a beauty . thank you , for sharing...............
I like your new hat. Seeing the stash of ribbon was very satisfying, especially when the bow turned out larger than I expected. I hope you do more millinery, and that Quality Control Cat helps.
Come for the beautiful sewing, stay for the great sense of humor and ASMR
Thank you. Lovely film.
I LOVE that you made it with better quality by SEWING and not just gluing. That’s passion and heart in it too.
The cat is good, the stabbery is better, the hat is best. Well done. It looks marvelous.
Wegie begs to differ: What even is a hat, stabbery is fun, cats are best!!
@@JuulThijssen My sewing supervisor, George, would agree with Wegie :). I, however, still think the hat is best.
My supervisors thought "oooh, prey!" 🤣
I know envy is a sin....oh well..what the heck....
Absolutely stunning 🥂
This hat is green with it, because it saw another one with more bows.

Half the time I'm cursing the modern instructions. All my husband hears is: what the hell does that even mean?? You know no no no it doesn't need to be this complicated for no reason I'm gonna do it my way.
For real though. Im glad I'm not the only one that use's hand sewing as that kind of therapy. STABSTABSTAB.. ok I'm good now!
It's GLORIOUS! You could step right into 1895 and be the most stylish woman on the avenue!
I seem to have misplaced my time machine, though. Have you seen it, maybe?
You can certainly trim a bonnet! I love it.
I think the sewing instead of the gluing gave it a much neater finish! Also I love the silk fabric you used, it looks so good on the finished hat. Congratulations to a lovely outcome of your first millinery adventure!

Lovely as usual. Hats are so fun, my sister was 103 never left the house without a hat. She would gave approved.
I often wonder why we have all abandoned hats and caps!
Apparently hats went "out" when cars got head tests. if you've every worn a hat in a modern car you can understand the struggle.
that hat is LIFE.
I agree, no glue. And yes, you correctly consulted with the supervisor on the final decoration decisions. You are most fortunate to have such an attractive supervisor ;)
He tried to convince me to put half a bird on it, but I said 'maybe next time, sir.'
@@JuulThijssen did he supply the bird?
Now, THAT is a bow. Beautiful hat, fabulous video. Bravo!
The sound of cutting fabric always hits me right in the heart)
I love the hat.
Stunning!
I still couldn’t help but wince when the big vintage ribbon was cut. Because I am silly, and I would just hold on to it and never use it. Even though it makes no sense.
It's always a bit of cringe when I cut into old lace or ribbon... but I tell myself they are finally realising their potential when I use them.
Juul Thijssen you are a better woman than I. I just get too scared. It’s like the fear of that first (expensive) fabric cut, only times 1000!
I'm like that too. Or with certain pieces of lace or fabric. :)
I've folded extra ribbon or lace to the back of a garment or accessory in order to keep from cutting it. Then the lace or ribbon can be removed and reused if needed. Rather hard to do if you have oodles of it, though. Super-duper hat and right on the mid-1790s note! Delightful video.
Love your hat and watching you stitch. Really love no music, just the sound of fabric, paper, scissors and pins.
Marvelous Dahling... Simply marvelous... Love the stubbornness of no tape or glue :) Mr Wegie was the best QC inspector ever.
Loved the video. I feel the need to watch Abby Cox hand stitching tutorial before starting of one of my own. Thank You for this video!
Glad you liked it! And yes, listen to Abby's wise words (I should have, too, perhaps, talking about the right needle for the job...😳)
The inspector doing a big stretch and reaching for the button... melted my heart
Love the stabby stabby hat. It was a good thing that the Very Important Inspector of Quality Control was there to supervise you, or this might have been difficult. Stay well.
Inspector Wegie agrees ;)
this hat is amazing!
This is a perfect demonstration of good millinery. Thank you for this video. I love it, also the cat and the hat.
Thank you
Juul : pulls out a needle
the pattern : Am I a joke to you?
(The hat looks great btw :D The bow is just the right amount of extra )
I had every intention to do what it told me... but I am too headstrong 😆
As always, wonderful job!
Your hat looks amazing. I love it!
OMG I love it. So sassy! The silk fabric is beautiful. 😊
Beautiful!

Amazing. Whimsical and charming.
Sheesh the amount of decoration, and yet compared to “the times” modest and scaled back. Lovely colors and I particularly like the textured tower part (clearly I’m a hat expert lol)
Excellent. I will update the pattern to include proper terminology! I propose 'balcony' for the part where the decoration sits to wave at the public.
Yes please
Absolutely stunning. Great job. Thank you for sharing.
Lovely! Well done! That bow looks positively cheeky!
Is it weird that I enjoyed the use of that lovely double cotton gauze as the mull? 😂 Absolutely lovely 💖💖
Beautiful.
Beautiful hat, wonderful craftwomanship and patience.
I really enjoy the peaceful, quiet nature of your videos. The sound of your scissors is absolutely delightful. 💜
Going to bed soon, so I had to come back and watch you make this delight of a hat to ensure pleasant dreams!

"Questioning life choices..."😂 😂😂
Isn't stabbing fabric with a needle like, the #1 reason to learn to sew?! 🙌
The hat is gorgeous!!! 💗
Breaking all the rules, except the one about matching the green ribbon to the cat’s eyes.
Your expression when the thing broke was priceless! I love how patient you are and how much concentration you give to everything you do. Watching you create is very soothing Juul. I loved the finished hat too, looks very smart and antique!

Blessings and Happy Autumn! 🌟💖🌾🍄🌻🍂🥧☕🍁✨👒🎉
I think there must be enough patterns to make those.. and they use less material than a large hat like this!
That’s no bow it’s a space station! 🎀. It’s really pretty.
Juul-ston, we have a problem.
Fabulous, can't believe this was your first time doing this!! Well done.
I was really happy with the result, very satisfying!
Fabulous! 😍

That bow is outrageously large! The hat looks absolutely amazing!
It is so LORGE!
Gushing " ITS SO PRETTY!!" I'm so fan girling right now. And add all the fun kitty shots to so Im in like flin!
Wow, you are so talented! That decoration is spot on. I loved that the video wasn't spoiled by unnecessary music. Loved it! Thank you.
I love the ridiculously ginormous bow! And stabbing fabric is why I watch seeing videos
Wow - what an impression that hat makes!
I loved your concentration, and the evident joy that you got from constructing your hat. As I’m sure you know, you are also the owner of a beautiful cat. Thank you for a pretty pleasant interlude.
Absolutely too divine!! ❤❤❤ snuggies for thr kitteh!
That hat is glorious from every angle! Glorious, I tell you!
Gorgeous!
Watching you sew is so relaxing! And I do enjoy the randomly thrown in sarcastic comments very much. XD
The hat turned out beautyful! And your cat is so majestic, like a lion!
That is so fancy and so whimsical all at once. Love it.
A beautiful piece of wearable art.Just brilliant.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT. The hat is gorgeous. Thank you so much for this video!!! Would love to see more of this type of videos

Thanks for the therapy!
i love that hat. i have been thinking of making some hats. i have only gone so far as to buy patterns, but now i am totally inspired. thank you!
You can do it!
I love the hat and it is really good you did the handstitching instead of the glueing. Great hat!!!
Thank you!
The stabbery was completely worth it- this is such a beautiful piece! Well done to you and the inspector 😊

This hat is wonderful! And Wegie did such a good trick for you in this video! I love it so much 💚
LOVE IT!!
Thank you!
The result is stunning! You can never have too much trimmings on a hat like this, and yours look just perfect :)
That's a gorgeous hat you did a great job
An absolute triumph...now ALL THE HATS PLEASE...maybe one for the QC Officer....?😻😻😻
love this so much.
Loved watching this. Soon I’ll make my own, but first I’ll have to decide on what fabric to use😁
Also not intending to use glue either.👍🏽
I hope you find your fabric soon, it's fun to make a hat! (even if you struggle sometimes)
hello , bless your heart , for all of the painstaking detail and quality you put into your hats . it is a beauty . thank you , for sharing...............
I thought the lining fabric made a pretty hat, but the finished product is GORGEOUS! Thanks for taking us along on the venture!
Beautifully done! I thoroughly enjoy your videos. Your QC supervisor is a stunning beauty! Thank you for sharing!
Eres una auténtica artista...maravilloso.👍👏👏👏👏👏😘😘
Oh wow that silk! 😍
You look quite Beautiful in your new hat. LOVE IT!
Wonderful! Very Stylish!!
I've just started making hats and learning everything I can about millinery. Thank you for the video, I thoroughly enjoyed it!
The ornaments are wonderful.
I love the uniqueness of this hat!!
Love the hat and your beautiful fur baby!
That hat is so extra! Love it! Hats are my Jam and yours is aweso.e!
So excited to see what can be achieved at the dining room table. Very impressed. I think I really must give it a go. Thank you.
What a lovely statement hat! Happy biking!
Beautiful... you're so talented, and the cats lovely too xxx
Love it! Tedious needle work but so woth it. Made several lately for Halloween and prefer needle to glue . A lady can always wear a hat!
I like the green fan part, but not the big black bow part. All hand sewn....amazing! ❤👍
A pleasure to watch as always
I like your new hat. Seeing the stash of ribbon was very satisfying, especially when the bow turned out larger than I expected. I hope you do more millinery, and that Quality Control Cat helps.
I’m super impressed and was transfixed by the entire process.
So cool! I love every time it said glue you were adamantly like THREAD lol. Also your helper is the cutest ... well other than my own helpers lol.
I like that!
Beautiful hat
and beautiful cat!
The sounds of the video are so lovely and satisfying
Wonderful hat ….so clever as always
