Hollywood's Biggest Ponzi Scheme

  • The glamour of Hollywood has attracted aspiring actors and filmmakers from around the world for a century. There’s no other place on the planet quite like it - a town full of wildly ambitious people who have followed their dreams of succeeding in the cutthroat entertainment industry. Of course, only a very small select few land roles in movies people actually watch, let alone walk red carpets or become household names. For everyone else, it’s hustling for auditions while working part-time jobs, taking every small uncredited role, doing almost anything to make it. Zach Horwitz (aka Zach Avery) was one of those people. He moved to Hollywood with no connections and no qualifications but ended up acting alongside Hollywood legends, bought a multi-million-dollar house, and drove flashy cars - he had, ostensibly, “made it”. But this is not some Hollywood fairytale. Zach Horwitz went to the extreme to make his dream come true, and along the way, stole millions from his closest family and friends.

Never make yourself dependent on a man, they will exploit you. If a man askes you to give up your work to stay at home, this is ALWAYS a red flag! He will make you completely dependent on him and isolate you and you are not able to leave when he starts to abuse you, and he will abuse you.

@@adampatino5372 nah. I know what irony means, as it is opposite, but the word has taken on more meanings than that, including quirky or unexpected results.

you are forgetting the detail that it was his closest, lifelong friends and family who lent him the money. it was not strangers. people you have known for years who trust you will often need little to no convincing. they assume that because of your past and connections you would repay them somehow even if things did go south. that was their downfall, blindly trusting a friend to be a good person.

We interviewed this man after a publicist pitched him back in 2019 and are absolutely blown away by this story. It was so weird to recognize his face in a thumbnail of a true crime channel. It's a play on millimeter, because 35mm celluloid film was the industry standard before digital. Also, Horwitz was a better actor than people give him credit for if he pulled off a Ponzi like this.

All these _Californicated_ individuals that dream of nothing more in life other than making it big on the silver screen make me _cringe_ at the core, it takes just a glimpse to see how empty and meaningless the lives of these _zombie actors_ are.

“I want to see my sons grow up” I know he said that to get sympathy and get out of it but does he _really_ think they’d want anything to do with him when they inevitably find out what he did?

No way am I going to be held at bay over some emails. The lynch pin for people with money like this is so shallow. People that putside looking in are so decorated it makes decisions that carry so much weight with remedial justification..
