Why would red war make you doubt Cayde's stories?!? He was lightless just like the rest of his fireteam. It makes perfect sense what's left without it is a goofy guy in way over his head. He just no longer has his failsafe, pun intended
Since you asked about previous attacks on the tower(s) there where some attacks directly on the Towers and City, like an extremely big and important combined attack by the different houses of the Fallen. Just to name one, there where also originally a bunch of Towers but they where either abandoned or destroyed during one of our enemy factions attacks (mainly fallen) like the PvP map Bannerfall. But well it was basically all just Fallen so far because simply it was no reasonable target yet. The hive was mostly festering and growing in secret, slowly expanding their reach over the system and so where the Vex and Kabal and if you look at all the potential enemies they'd have to fight a settlement of potentially immortal soldiers probably just sounded less appealing than overtaking the territory of the other factions first, so basically they kept each other in check what kinda saved us for many many years.
32:05 Whether or not you're the same Guardian as D1 depends on whether you had your PSN account linked and a D1 save file. If you were new, there were different voice lines when you'd be introduced to enemy races. If you were old, they'd make references to where you've seen them before. It was pretty cool. Still doesn't explain why you were wearing such crap armor at the beginning though. Maybe it was laundry day.
Roughly 70% of all the content ever made for D2 is now unplayable. That includes entire years worth of DLCs, planets, crucible maps, strikes, AND seasonal model content. This game has more taken out than that’s in it.
😢It was the alternative to creating destiny 3. Most complained they lost everything from D1. So they tried to keep it alive. currently, this game is technically is D3.
@Angel-yi4fs eh, they've roughly said thats not true and don't like that idea. Every major update aince beyond light has had the *This is it, this is D3* tagged to it by the community. I can't see them trying to make a D3 parallel to marathon when D2 was working, their ideas for it may have not.
i had the chance to play it before but did not, woe is me i started at the end of forsaken and was overwhelmed at that time so i didnt knew until beyond light
@@lorrr_enzokinda same only I started barely at the end of D1. Got D2 barely understood what the hell was going on. I literally was so dumb I thought public events were a main part of the game and not a side thing 😖stopped playing and watching this video helped me remember what I DID play
@@Ajaydynamism6 yea. That's what caused me to leave the game after I preordered and bought the deluxe edition lol. Just nothing to do afterwards, leaving one wanting more for the 60 bucks of a game one paid for. It was basically 60 bucks just to enter destiny 2, do a not-so-bad campaign, and lose all locations, guns, armor, and aesthetics from Destiny 1. They shoudlve spent more time doing Destiny 2 development, so they could have launched it with all the existing exotics from Destiny 1. Instead, we had to deal with bungie crew doing this over the past many years. No much new content, just already existing content from the previous game, put back into the sequel. Which by now is late as fuck, given we are basically at the end of Destiny 2 life cycle now, lol.
Yeah it was a much better campaign than most of the campaigns that we got back then although that's not saying much. It's a shame that the first great destiny 2 campaign started with its 6th expansion. I remember having a lot of fun with destiny 2 but thinking that it was pretty lacking after the campaign which wasn't the case for The Taken King or Rise of Iron which were almost perfect in comparison to D2 at the time.
@@SnoozytubeGhaul was just a better villain than Calus imo. I really thought him becoming made of light at the end of the Red War would’ve led to something significant.
Every new season makes me sad it may be the last time we ever hear him as Zavala, he is such a vital part of Destiny, it breaks my heart. I hope that when he was alive, he knew how much this small community around the game appreciated and loved his voice.
@@maythomas4591 You just never quit, do you? Took out ghaul. Woke up the traveler. And now half of what i hear in the streets is how much you and your clan are making a difference.
The real gut punch is that I have very fond memories of getting to the farm for the first time on release day and being so overwhelmed. It was beautiful and people won't ever experience that. The second punch, the sucker punch is that Marty ODonnells music got removed from the game to and let me tell you, that music made the game.
I spent a comical amount of time just playing football on the pitch lol. Was just enjoying the vibes. Taking my time. Every couple mins or so someone new would spawn in and join me lol
@oxsila , lad it was certainly a vibe and how good was Titan the first time.. the atmosphere and art direction linked with the music made it something so special.
Same. I only ever played for the first month or so (I played the beta and all of D1 as well), but it really was something special despite all the criticism. Decided to come back a couple months ago, only to find everything was gone....
According to my encyclopedic lore friend, there weren’t attacks on the tower because nobody, including the cabal, were equipped to reach the tower without being detected. The Cabal really got lucky here. They just dove in, expecting to fight their way in and were surprised when they didn’t experience resistance until they arrived, and that is because Mercury, of The Nine, interfered with the Vanguard’s defense sensors. And that is why when The Almighty started devouring Mercury for its superweapon to blow the sun up, the rest of The Nine did not help it.
Absolutely. I just played through lightfall as a returning player and it was ok. I can’t say I didn’t enjoy it but I did question some decisions which I don’t usually do playing the game
Who the hell at Bungie made the decision to remove this? I started playing in Season of the Splicer, got almost 3000 hours in Destiny. And I feel like just these couple of cutscenes have done more character building and helping me understand some of the enemies/ allies I see every day in Destiny, than ANYTHING I've played since I started. Wow.
I know right! The original reason was due to Cayde's death if i remember right. After Forsaken, we got Shadow Keep. During this time, we still had all the campaigns and stuff but I remember people being confused as to why Cayde 6 was dead, but you could still find him in campaigns. May of been idiots at bungie listening to that idea and also make an excuse to remove all the old content
@@greenchilistudioz4537 regarding OOB, like the Dark Forest or other locations, they still remain in game. Even if useless, would be nice to access such locations in game
Same. I joined the season after Splicer (Lost I think) and everything has just felt so flat. I count myself lucky that I managed to at least play the Forsaken campaign all the way through
This was a great throwback. People talk down about Red War, but I always loved it. I remember how awesome it felt to be "powerless" and to have an enemy that actually dealt a real blow. I fondly remember exploring the planets, discovering lost sectors, figuring out heroic public events and completing adventures. All without a sparrow (which was cool the first time, although it would've been nice to earn one a little earlier). All of the QOL changes were nice. Like fast travel, mantling, having a map and class abilities. Like others though, once the honeymoon phase ended, the game felt lackluster in some areas. Like static rolls and no special weapons. I took a break until the end of forsaken and was so happy to see the changes. Overall, I do think the campaign being gone is bad for the new player experience. (And the fact that I actually PAID for the base game) I know reintroducing it makes no sense to the current story, but it really was one of the best campaigns we got in this series.
A lot of people say reintroducing it doesnt make sense for the current story, but id argue its the complete opposite. The red war is the only reason the pyramids are even here now, if ghaul didn't put the cage around the traveler forcing it to essentially blow itself up, then the pyramids never would have detected the pulse of light and would still be sitting dormant millions of lightyears away. The pyramid on the moon would still be in the same state it was back in d1, sitting essentially dead .
Exactly, seeing your maxed D1 character get fucking manhandled was…. Oddly satisfying. Back in the day on D2 you could just replay these campaigns… similar to old raids and content in WoW. The excuse when they sunset it of “the game file was getting to big” never made any sense….. like make it an optional download and let us have our fun. That was the big difference I always felt between Destiny 1 & 2 ….. user enjoyment! Destiny was a fascinating story and game that had real momentum and potential. Destiny 2 had a fair bit of clean up and gameplay to work on….. but that didn’t mean that D1 wasn’t a banger. After the first year of D2… it just never really clicked… never felt fresh (like D1)… it took them YEARS to add classes and content that was desperately needed in the base game at launch. The story tellers still had some real passion in D2, but it always felt like the gameplay and mechanics where being designed with a mind frame of “that’s good enough”… and it wasn’t even that good.
I always assumed the reason the Traveler didn't just break out of the restraints was to avoid sending that blast out, it knew it would give its position away like a sonar ping to the darkness. It might have been waiting until Ghaul was truly a threat before risking giving away its position, as in when Ghaul was about to gain the light. It gave the Guardian the light first in hopes the player would stop Ghaul before it got to that point. That's my head cannon at least.
That's probably close to the truth, I think Savathun used a ritual to hide the traveler so the Witness thought at first that it escaped to another system and that blast was what revealed its position.
it is. i believe its the hawkmoon lorebooks, told from the perspective of the speaker, shows the traveler knows in the moment it breaks free to kill ghaul that it will catch the attention of the witness, but not acting would cause worse problems so it does so anyways.
I'm confused... I recall the Red War being the base game of Destiny 2, before it got its first DLC, expansion, or even seasons. The Red War was the cause (excuse) for our vaults not carrying over from Destiny 1 even.
32:21 If your save continues (aka not deleting characters to restart), you're the same character, it's how you get veteran lines such as during the corridors of time, and for Tyra forgetting who you are, she speculates she loses her memory from not having the light
Also, in Shadowkeep, you face against your own nightmares, one of which is the Nightmare of Crota. It wouldn't make sense for us to remember Crota if we never defeated him before. It's the same guardian
Ill never forget after gaul threw us off and the tower fell. It was our guardian, and showing they were spending days going through the terrain, surviving. A nice time lapse
As a blueberry who got to play this expansion for free, I thoroughly enjoyed playing through it with my pals and learning the mechanics. I feel like this campaign was built to teach people the game and it was quite good at it
yup, im so sorry for my friends I want to pull in to D2 because decent sales lately because I know they will suffocate under amount of stuff that is in this game
Im sorry, did you want an epic story with a badass cabal that spans various planets instead of some shit quests on Earth? Tough, go play crucible like Bungo wants.
They overhauled how their engine worked and not all of the older assets and maps were compatible. They needed to be reworked before they could be reintroduced. A much lesser priority than creating new content
@@NessBeecayde’s writing in red war was horrible. An unmatched catastrophe, killing tons of guardians and civilians, is happening, and you have to stop it. Meanwhile Cayde is goofing around, and being super reckless, without a care in the world.
@@NessBeeno it wasn’t lmao, he had “silly” moments but he was still rather serious. D2 cayde was cringe and they had to kill him off to make a somewhat good serious toned story and it worked
interaction bait aside, the only reason enemies hadn't assaulted the Tower before the Red War was because some of the Nine had a hand in the Red Legion's assault, sabotaging the City's defense systems because they didn't like humanity or something. otherwise the satellites would have detected an incoming force long before they got close enough, and i think i remember hearing/reading something about the Traveller's light interfering with the Vex, such that they either can't show up on earth (or at least the Tower) or it takes tremendous effort to do so
I guess I never realized that the vex aren’t ever an enemy in earth patrol locations..that’s very interesting..I just never put one thought to how they aren’t. I never realized that
The only reason the Red Legion even succeeded in the first place was because they put up a strong enough assault to catch the Guardians by surprise and prevent an effective coordinated response, then pretty soon trapped the Traveler and cut off the connection to the Light making the Guardians much less powerful and easier to kill. If the Red Legion engaged just in battle alone they'd certainly have perma killed some Guardians, maybe a bunch and done serious damage, but the Guardian's resurrection ability and huge power would have eventually won them the battle against the Red Legion. Ghaul is still the only enemy who's ever come close to winning aside from the WItness, but they are a whole other level of power and they're not even directly attacking us like Ghaul did.
you must have forgotten the whisper mission then if you miss it or got carried because that was the most awful, frustrating thing ever. Playing the revamp, i remember why i didnt have the catalyst.
One of Lightfalls biggest omg momments in the new trailer for "The Final Shape" is the return of Cayde-6. For everyone that is brand new to the game can't even play forsaken to figure out why cayde-6's return is such a big deal to us vets like come on.
Players: “The thing that makes Destiny great is random weapons rolls and fully customizable subclasses. Bungie: “For Destiny 2, we’re removing random weapon rolls and limiting subclass options to two static trees.”
except that isn't exactly what players were saying. They were complaining that Destiny's biggest problem was a lack of balance at the end of D1, and PvP wasn't competitive. At least that is what the echo chamber was saying. Bungie tried to fix those things by making weapons and sub classes they could actually balance, and making the game slow enough to be competitive even with the netcode, and the community was "not like that!!!"
Bungie: Also, we're gonna waste the year of the witch queen undoing our mistake and you have to wait longer for the new dark element because we did a funny and ruin the narrative of lightfall, oh and we're gonna homogenize everything taking away almost all subclass identities from most subclasses.
@@vonborgahI did. I loved it in DESTINY 1 and I made every gun feel different. I stopped playing Destiny 2 after no random rolls and finishing all the launch content.
Loved the video and it's nice to see people finally talking about how good Red War is/was. I hope after The Final Shape has run its course that bungie will add in all the og content for the people who want it back, since they never should have taken the base game out. I've had friends actually try and get into D2 but drop it because even they don't like what it currently is with how much the "new" intro doesn't even make sense gameplay wise and lore wise. Can't wait to see the next video!
Honestly, even if they just take a backup of the game during forsaken or shadowkeep with all the seasons and put it in a seperate game id be happy. No darkness subclasses and it would save space
Kinda digging up an old post, but I'm hoping they release a D3 as a curated experience of all content thus far in the game followed by new content. (Probably with prismatic being the only subclass), but I think at best we might get the ability to replay old content via a memory or something so they can pick and choose. I can't say I really really want to replay all of Destiny, but I want the whole story there for people who missed it and to make it fun.
I was actually one of the D1 veteran players who poured THOUSANDS of hours into D1 & actually experienced the red war & I was definitely part of the hype... but by the time Warmind (or whatever the second DLC was) I saw the direction Destiny was heading & I jumped ship to Warframe. Seeing what Destiny is now.... I've never regretted that decision.
My first time playing the game was 2 weeks before Beyond Light released meaning that I was in season of arrivals. All the content at that point was still in the game but I didn’t have enough time to get into it. I remember just grinding public events because I had no idea what to do and that excited me. All of this content available to me overwhelmed me and it was an exciting feeling. Then they took it out of the game and I have been feeling left out ever since. I had no idea why people like certain raids, or the menagerie or the exotic missions. I never got a chance to play them and it saddened me. I really wish I can play it again but unfortunately with how the game is going I cannot. That’s why I can never truly love the game the way it is
*before even watching this video* Oh shit... this gonna make me drop a few tears. I miss my fireteam. I actually loved the Red War, as in the past on paper the plot had everything to be an absolute blast, they had the boldness to destroy the game hub where we spent literally hundred if not thousands of hours for almost 4 years and was pretty impactful, Ghaul was an impressive character with some personality behind it, not just a cardboard villain. Some missions were visually stunning, the Almighty remains my favorite one, nothing that cames after got me so much.
The final battle to retake the city is still one of the highlights of the series for me. Fighting your way toward the Traveler just felt so epic at the time. Urban warfare is part of why Halo 3 ODST is still my favorite Halo game.
FYI technicly if you use your d1 character there is dialogue to them like the Eris Morn one in titan but for some reason Tyra in the farm forgot about us wich leads us to think the Red War was supposed to happen before Rise of Iron
Bungie just doesnt like rise of iron, they dont want to admit one of the best expansions the series had ever seen was made by a third party studio they hired
The fallen have tried to a few times in the lore. Believe the hive was going to attack the tower but we stopped them before they got the chance to. And the vex have been in the city to.
This video is a banger and really brought me back to like 2018-2019. Destiny had a special place in my heart as I had played since middle school. And even though D2 on launch was interesting, it was really fun. You really captured the feeling well and how exciting this time of the game was
I remember that if you are playing a character from D1 Tyra saying that her separation from the light made her confused and that she feels she should recognize you but doesn't remember your name. But if you are playing as a new gaurdian, she doesn't know you.
I feel like siva sums up Bungie short comings. They have something fans love and want more, and they refuse to bring it back even in the wrath of the machine.
God what a trip down memory lane. Your best video yet. The game has changed so so much over the years. LMAO @ "this would be the last time anyone liked Hawthorne."
you definitely play as the same guardian from D1, they have confirmed that, plus you keep certain nicknames based on d1 accomplishments the rise of iron was just destiny's red headed step kid, and they even gave reason for tyra's memory loss in the campaign
With regards to the traveller awakening at the end, I always kind of thought of it like this: Ghaul stole the light but it was corrupted, hence the drippy shadowey vibe to his final form. By channeling all that light in front of the traveller itself, it was able to channel everything it had to one point and then use Ghaul like a magnet, focusing all that light to one point and using it to break the cage (though that wouldn't explain the arm breaking but eh) to cleanse it. That or the traveller let Ghaul take light to get to that point because it knew it wasn't strong enough to break out alone and that we would be able to defeat Ghaul. Still lots of points and that don't make sense but I like to think it at least makes it a bit more viable..
I remember this, partly. I bought Destiny 2 at full price but never had the time to really play it, I only made it a bit through the story, I ended up picking it back up one day only to see that the game I spent my own money for had removed all the content I had payed for, the game was free, which I don’t mind, but I felt like I wasted my money on an experience I never got and will never be able to get, which is why I stopped playing the game altogether, it felt like the developers did not care about me as a consumer.
Hey to answer your question ("why did no one else attack the tower?"); that's actually explained eventually in the lore. The Nine purposefully masked the red legion's ships from being detected because they wanted to see how the guardians and the traveler/light would react to the events that would unfold. Basically they used the circumstance as an opportunity for experimentation in order to help them further their goal of "entering into our physical reality", more or less.
Looking back. Its crazy to see how far our Guardian has been. From being physically unable to stand up when losing light. To immediately sprinting to our ghost in Excision
Red war campaign was legendary, and the last campaign I got to experience with my friend Jonny red shoes, rest in peace John destiny will never be the same without you.
It’s really bizarre to be someone coming back to Destiny after 3ish years because I don’t even know about all the content that isn’t in the game. For what it’s worth I have found almost everything in the game currently to be a ton of fun.
I remember playing this when it first came out and felt so mad when the cabal took our tower away. They definitely made this story memorable especially with the speaker cutscene too
Back on d2 launch I remember every reset day rushing home from school to speak to hawthorn 😂 I wish at the bare minimum they made new players so this first mission then sum the red war up with a cutscene. I understand why they take out content bc we will either have a 500 gig game with everything or they would have had to make destiny 3 so they kinda couldn’t win bc the main complaint from d1 to d2 was losing all the loot. Sorry for yapping
@@baileyrog no, he wasn't. The Speaker has never been a Guardian. "Though the Speaker is not a Guardian, he can be seen accompanied by a Ghost." - Destinypedia.
even in 2024 content ever made for D2 is now unplayable, and the story is all over the place, plus u need to pay for content thats no mmore in the game so u can have acces to 2-3 wep`s and one armor,i i want to play raids and dung,i need to buy a tone of stuff that cost 400-600 $,thats just stupid,i still play the game ,but to invest in it,hell no,is just greedy ``f2p`` game, and the story has no sense even for old players,a new player will just drop and delete the game in 2 hours max,Bungie become like EA!
I had around 8,000 hours into Destiny 1. To put it simply, when Destiny 2 vanilla launched, I was so excited to see & play that opening scene where the tower is attacked. A month after that 1st day, I was done. It Being basically able to procure every exotic in that months time, and No random rolls to chase, it felt so generic. Random rolls were what kept me playing D1. Hell, I must have spent a record amount of materials when the gunsmith let you re-roll weapons in D1. When Bungie didnt seem to be interested in changing that simple fact, I left & didnt even think twice. Fortunately they fixed that. Someone actually told me “hey, random rolls are back in Destiny & it’s a lot better”. And sure enough, soon I was back in & to this day still play 20+ hours a week even during lulls in the game.
as a new player, y1 of destiny 2 was essentially perfect. Easy to understand systems, a pretty good campaign that properly introduces you to the series, and interesting enough activities for someone who had never touched the series to get into. But as an old player, I can see why people disliked it. The game was completely different and people didnt like that, its part of why I quit after beyond light, tried to get back into it during WQ and lightfall and never could. The whole atmosphere of the game feels different now and I personally hate it
This is actually ground for a class action lawsuit. Americans sue over every little thing but shady videogame developers almost always get off the hook
This makes me feel old. I remember getting Destiny 2 when it came out. I remember playing Destiny 1 about a year in after getting an Xbox one. I'm 28 now and Destiny 2, while I enjoy it, isn't what it used to be.
I'm shocked to see people suddenly speak so fondly of the Red War. That shit was universally panned when the game launched, and I'm still convinced everyone has gaslit themselves into liking it because they can say they played it to show how cool and old school they are.
Never thought about the fact that if you purchased just the OG D2, you essentially cannot play that game ever again. Is this the first time a game developer has done this?
I really wish they brought all of the sunset content back. Atleast the main story bits idc about seasonal stuff so maybe itll be better for the new player experience
Destiny 1, charges $40 for a storyline that should've shipped with the game in the first place. Destiny 2, deletes the storyline that shipped with the game. Bruh 💀
I wish Bungo would release the entire story playable in game from Red War to Final Shape. Every story mission including all seasonal missions that are story relevant and let us play from top to bottom.
If they don’t add the red war campaign as either a side content DLC, game mode or even as a different game I think a lot of people will be very upset. Me included it was one of the best campaigns I’ve ever played. 19:10 P.S. There was another attack on the last city, it was by the fallen decades before the first game. It was at the battle of Twilight gap and it was a disaster for the fallen because a fire team of 4 including Shacks and Anna Bray held the line when they were told to retreat, crushing the fallen assault and breaking the united house into all of the houses in game today.
Dude you tried really, really hard to put a positive spin on the "red war" and you just can't. That was an awful campaign and most of the stuff you say just does not apply. This is a terrible story for the game.
The Red War was easily the greatest Destiny campaign of all time; a work of art in the gaming industry. I really hope they bring it back someday, it is nostalgic, epic, and amazingly fun to play.
look at any other mmo, ff14 you HAVE to play through every story in the way it was intended, even WOW who doesn’t make you play old content, still has all the old content available in the game
If i were to rewrite the red war campaign id of made it so the second In Command Activated the light extractor and he was actually the boss(the player fights) instead of ghaul (the speakers words instead of just being Seemingly BS instead got through to him (id specifically have a line that a guardian must lose Everything (die) in order to become a guardian)) and ghaul in an act Contrary to the villain role he was originally placed in Sacrifices himself to give the player the ability to actually Damage the boss(the flow of light energy from the Extractor is constantly Healing the bosses HP) by Punching the core of the device containing the traveler Hes killed by the devices own Energy as his Burned body falls into the Combat Arena and as you Defeat the Boss the light Leaves his Body and Crystalises into at least 1 new ghost which Resurects Ghaul (like imagine the breaking of expextaions) as a Cabal guardian
They released D2 as if it was a standard online fps game. All guns standardised loot is skins etc. D2 was and remains unique in that its all about the random rolls. Who cares about getting the same weapon from drops if they're always identical. However I will grind a pulse rifle for the particular roll I want.
Man, people absolutely shit all over this game when it launched. And sure, some of it was definitely justified. But the vanilla campaign was awesome. I really miss it. When they sunset it and the the planets, it really killed a lot of my drive to continue playing. Then the shift to the seasonal activity model bullshit and microtransaction city was the final nail. What this game could have been.....
Yeah, take away the intuitive, organic way for players to get into the game and clog the game with content that is made to be deleted in a year. No focus on evergreen content like other healthy MMOs. No wonder new/returning players bounce of this tumorous game. We, the core players who play every season barely get affected by this, but our friends do.
You did miss a lortab there was a time where the fallen houses banded together to attack the last City And you're actually playing the same guardian as the one the only difference is is that for some reason they don't like to reference the rise of iron dlc it's almost like it never actually happened
cut content has been out longer then in the game. WTF Bungie. Just give me what I payed for. No other game studio does this kind of crap. A real shame that youtubers have to make better story videos than Bungie does.
I stopped playing when the Tangled Shore went. I miss Io and Mars, but I used to spend most of my time on Titan, until that was taken away. When the Tangled Shore went, I just lost interest.
Nobody attacked the Tower? The Fallen have attacked the Tower several times. Twilight Gap? Battle of Six Fronts? I'm going to assume you just overlooked this
It's so crazy to think that a new player today or even us the ones that payed for for it can't go and play this stuff. It's insane if you actually think about it. They just removed part of their game no one can play anymore. Not even put it as an option as some other separate content off to the side as it's own thing. Just gone.
Thanks for putting this together. I totally forgot how invested I was in the storyline of Destiny 2. I still get a bit emotional watching it. The story was that powerful. Lightfall was the polar opposite and the storyline especially Nimbus was 🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 None of it fits the overall story I nearly gave up but I randomly had someone join my fireteam and they sucked me into a clan and we were doing raids. Now the story seems back on track as if Bungie are stepping away from the pile of 💩💩💩that is Neomuna I only go there now for title achievements etc.
Shame bungie were to greedy to leave all the campaign dlcs we had to pay for in it would have been amazing for new players to experience all the story in order, now destiny 2 is a lazy cash grab with nothing to do but empty your wallet and lose more content no other game franchise has disrespected it’s player base as much as bungie has buy removeing campaign story you had to pay for hence why I quit playing this game after they started removing content and it’s the best choice I ever made and saved me hundreds of dollars in dlc campaigns that would have been removed and have been removed.

It was actually Michael Salvatori who composed the OST for destiny two. Not Marty.

As someone who played Lightfall recently and enjoyed it more than Red war I have to agree
@@greenchilistudioz4537 new players care......
That's probably close to the truth, I think Savathun used a ritual to hide the traveler so the Witness thought at first that it escaped to another system and that blast was what revealed its position.
it is. i believe its the hawkmoon lorebooks, told from the perspective of the speaker, shows the traveler knows in the moment it breaks free to kill ghaul that it will catch the attention of the witness, but not acting would cause worse problems so it does so anyways.

interaction bait aside, the only reason enemies hadn't assaulted the Tower before the Red War was because some of the Nine had a hand in the Red Legion's assault, sabotaging the City's defense systems because they didn't like humanity or something. otherwise the satellites would have detected an incoming force long before they got close enough, and i think i remember hearing/reading something about the Traveller's light interfering with the Vex, such that they either can't show up on earth (or at least the Tower) or it takes tremendous effort to do so
the nine did it for shits and giggles i kid you not

Battle of 6 fronts, eliksni attacked the city
Allegedly just One of the Nine did it, to examine how to take the Traveler.

Kinda digging up an old post, but I'm hoping they release a D3 as a curated experience of all content thus far in the game followed by new content.

LMAO @ "this would be the last time anyone liked Hawthorne."
I still think that removing content people already paid for is embarrassing
you definitely play as the same guardian from D1, they have confirmed that, plus you keep certain nicknames based on d1 accomplishments
the rise of iron was just destiny's red headed step kid, and they even gave reason for tyra's memory loss in the campaign

Whos gonna tell him😬
Its a shame that it's now impossible to re-experience this campaign in person ever again

Also it was 6 years ago nostalgia I personally liked it but I never played D1
Never thought about the fact that if you purchased just the OG D2, you essentially cannot play that game ever again. Is this the first time a game developer has done this?
I really wish they brought all of the sunset content back. Atleast the main story bits idc about seasonal stuff so maybe itll be better for the new player experience
Destiny 1, charges $40 for a storyline that should've shipped with the game in the first place.
Destiny 2, deletes the storyline that shipped with the game.
Bruh 💀
Bungie should re-release Destiny 1 and call it Destiny Classic. I would drop everything to play that.
Man D2 had so much, and it’s all gone. 💔
It's Sad that I'll never get that Sexy "OG Destiny 2 Raid Gear" that's lost to time now..
look at any other mmo, ff14 you HAVE to play through every story in the way it was intended, even WOW who doesn’t make you play old content, still has all the old content available in the game
You did miss a lortab there was a time where the fallen houses banded together to attack the last City
And you're actually playing the same guardian as the one the only difference is is that for some reason they don't like to reference the rise of iron dlc it's almost like it never actually happened
cut content has been out longer then in the game. WTF Bungie. Just give me what I payed for. No other game studio does this kind of crap. A real shame that youtubers have to make better story videos than Bungie does.
Dude, Io was the best, I miss it so much. It's really not fair
I stopped playing when the Tangled Shore went. I miss Io and Mars, but I used to spend most of my time on Titan, until that was taken away. When the Tangled Shore went, I just lost interest.
Red War was awesome. I miss Dominus Ghaul, even though he kicked me off that platform 😊
Just gone.
Sitting here and telling me ghaul was a compelling villain and the story was a grand space opera is a bit of a stretch. But your dead on with the rest
Honestly I feel like this is why d3 shouldve happened so that this campaogn and parts of forsakens wouldn't have had to have been sunset .
Thanks for putting this together.
I totally forgot how invested I was in the storyline of Destiny 2.
I still get a bit emotional watching it. The story was that powerful.
Lightfall was the polar opposite and the storyline especially Nimbus was 🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
None of it fits the overall story
I nearly gave up but I randomly had someone join my fireteam and they sucked me into a clan and we were doing raids.
Now the story seems back on track as if Bungie are stepping away from the pile of 💩💩💩that is Neomuna
I only go there now for title achievements etc.
RED WAR is Oscar-worthy compared to CRAPFALL and TRASHLIGHT, that's for sure...
they just need to undo sunsetting and give us that old content back its soo hard to get people into this game when the story is all messed up
Shame bungie were to greedy to leave all the campaign dlcs we had to pay for in it would have been amazing for new players to experience all the story in order, now destiny 2 is a lazy cash grab with nothing to do but empty your wallet and lose more content no other game franchise has disrespected it’s player base as much as bungie has buy removeing campaign story you had to pay for hence why I quit playing this game after they started removing content and it’s the best choice I ever made and saved me hundreds of dollars in dlc campaigns that would have been removed and have been removed.
How odd. The game nowadays mechanically is in a insanely great spot. but it goes to show how much a campaign sells the live service.
