    Hi,
    since there is another big update to superset since that video and a lot of development how wpuld you now rate superset plus aw ultra (and maybe the Tempo run recover repeat app) compared to Garmin for someone who mostly runs and lift weights and skis?

    How was the GPS performance? I found the Ultra 1 not to be consistent in distance, even with itself. It would read the same distance route to be a different distance almost every time I did the same route.

    What I find is funny is people say "Garmin is focused on sports-science" yet the heart-rate sensor is not even at the same level as AppleWatch, I don't get it, we know their heart-rate sensor is not accurate so how can you trust the recovery metrics based on HRV ?

    I follow trends or health-related issues rather than metrics. That was one of the reasons I switched from Epix 51 to AWU2. The garmin results didn't completely reflect how I was feeling , so rather counterproductive for me. I am now more comfortable with AWU2 because of their added value. Primarily, I'm interested in GPS and heart rate measurement from the sports features and the watch does that well.

    Apple needs to step up their game with battery life and fitness data and recommendations natively. The Superset App shouldn’t be necessary. I imagine so much nice stuff with clever AI and all the data the watch and phone collects… apple health could be such a game changer.

      I've been there! Good thing you got out. But I will say in testing all these watches the body battery does reveal and expose super accurately things going on physiologically, for me at least.

    • @Seanonyoutube
      @Seanonyoutube 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@fitgearhunter I guess we’ll see if I get sick in the next day or two lol. Personally I think it’s a glitch in the system. I don’t sleep with the watch (use apple watch instead bc I heard its more accurate) so I typically turn it off before bed. But last night it stayed on the charger all night. Perhaps it somehow kept thinking I was wearing it (accidentally paird with the coros hr monitor while off? That has happened to me before already..) and the battery just kept depleting all night (9 is the lowest I ever seen, I typically wake up at around 70 and by bedtime i’m around 20) so yeah, I suspect the watch just got confused. 97 sleep score and “superb” waking HRV according to auto sleep. So yeah, there’s a limit how much I’ll trust these little gadgets on my wrist.

  • @meFatuations

    What an odd review. The flashlight being something of significant importance? Hobbling together third party apps to get what you want. Any technically competent person would be able to configure the device for their own use. Not a big deal. In fact, that kind of flexibility is one of the main features of these sorts of watches. So, dinging the watch because you don't want to deal with third party applications misses the point. I have an Ultra 2 and I think it is the most impressive electronic device I've ever had. The ability of the watch to integrate into my iPhone's functionality is a great feature. The Ultra is vastly more capable and sophisticated than any Garmin product.

    • @fitgearhunter
      @fitgearhunter  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for the feedback! Yes I almost always say that this channel is exclusively for testing and tracking devices for higher-level training and sports related endeavors, so that's always the vantage point. I say it so much that I sometimes forget that it needs to be said every review! Regarding the cobbling together of third-party apps, unfortunately that is a very felt sentiment amongst many People, especially in the sports training community - the cobbling together of the third-party apps is not abundantly apparent, and there are a wide variety of nuance differences and value differences and usefulness differences, etc.. And that's where the Apple Watch in general falls short relative to Garmin. Like I said my original review for the Apple Watch Ultra whenever it came out, as good of a smart watch as the Apple Watch is, and it is the best, is how good as a sports and training watch that Garmin is, and it is the best.

    I just returned the Ultra 2 and now thinking I should have tried this app! I find compared to my Epix Pro 51mm that the WU2 is useless. Athlytic was so much easier to reach sleep and recovery goals that I questioned its usefulness and that was probably all dependent on the HRV. No idea why Apple can't nail HRV...They are so slow!

    • @fitgearhunter
      @fitgearhunter  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Completely agree! It makes no sense that Apple can't add the HRV tracking in full minute by minute or every five minutes. at all times throughout the day, but I guess they don't really check heart rate consistently either. They should make that an available option, to be able to turn on HRV tracking for at least every five minutes all day.
      And yes the app really is just so clean and well done that it definitely made an impact on how I felt about the usefulness of the Apple Watch in general as a solution.

    Apple is really taking it's hands off the wheel and letting 3rd party developers make it a competent device

    • @fitgearhunter
      @fitgearhunter  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes but they need to make HRV tracking a real thing. At the end of the day you have to actually run with a hack that doesn't even provide complete accuracy, but just enough minimal accuracy to make use

  • @BillMcLean
    @BillMcLean 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I've enjoyed both superset and athlytic. I felt the same way initially about athlytic but the longer I have let it collect data the more accurate it has become. Superset was pretty accurate right out of the gate though. It is still slightly annoying to match all of the features of a Garmin you need at least 3 or 4 different third party apps and there is still some stuff you just don't get.
