    I skipped Ultra 1 and bought Ultra 2 this year. Glad I waited.
    My Applewatch 6 is currently resting at the bottom of the Indian ocean off the shores of Maldives after it came off my arm whilst diving. My Ultra 2 has a great band which won't do that.
    I ordered a Black band and Orange band from ebay - and I want a titanium bracelet eventually.

    The Action Button is limited to a shortlist of apps for now, but Apple didn’t generally release the programming APIs for the Ultra prior to the release of the Watch. Application developers will be able to utilize the Action Button, so we should be seeing a lot more uses for that button in the near future.

    Since you can use the action button for Shortcuts, it’s more useful than you think. Shortcuts can be tied to the Focus modes, so it can do quite a few things. There are apps that will add maps and a number of other features that the Ultra lacks (for now).

      On my Apple Watch Ultra, I assigned the Action button to a Shortcut that does 5 different functions at once. With the ability to run a Shortcut, the Action button is anything but limited and/or gimmicky. Think of the out-of-the-box options as some simple pre-configured Shortcuts to get you started.

    • @melgross
      @melgross 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MichaelSoledad it’s otetty simp,e. You go to the watch app and go to actions, and there’s a list. Tap one and it’s done. If you pick shortcuts, it more complex because you have to pick or make your own shortcut. But that’s expected. There’s no other way to do it.

    As a professional pilot who is constantly on the move, I was pulling my phone out of my pocket probably 100 times a day. I just bought an Apple Watch Ultra a few weeks ago and it has been an incredible time saver!
    Apple pay, notifications, email and the customizable watch faces (UTC as well as local time, date, sunset/sunrise allow me access to most of my regular smart phone needs without pulling out and unlocking the phone saving me close to an hour every day. Night mode on the wayfinder face is perfect for limiting distractions.

    The reason why I’m interested in it is because of its versatility and how sturdy it is. I mean the original one is pretty water resistant but couldn’t really hurt to have something that can go even deeper in the water?.….Or be resistant to the cold?…… or basically any really harsh environment that my sadly clumsy 60 year old mother can get into. I mean as long as it does the basic things like keep track of her vitals… keep records of how many steps she takes….does it really hurt to pay a little more to have something that’s probably going to outlive her…lol

If your familiar with the shortcuts app on the iPhone, you just create a shortcut on the iPhone, make sure it’s in the Apple watch folder in the shortcuts app. Then pull up the watch app go to action button and select shortcut. The shortcut you created should be there to assign. I just created a shortcut to open app and then chose the sports alerts app.

    I looked at the Apple Watch Ultra as a no brainer. It would have cost $800 for the titanium version of an Apple Watch a few years ago ($100 more than the SS version) and the current SS version is $750 for the iwatch 8. So for $50 more I get a bigger watch, better os, and frankly a better watch!

    About its size.
    I find the people that have issues with this kind of…entitled?
    This is the first Apple Watch that I can actually wear without feeling like I sport a candy watch from a carnival. Until now I had Garmin 6x Pro and for me, at the start, even Ultra felt a little too small.
    I understand that for some who’d want to have ultra, its size may be too big. But two things if those people feel left out.
    1. if you need smaller watch you have at least 2 other options for a wearable Apple device right?
    2. It’s targeted as a sport watch, and those (garmins etc) are not small.

So far on its first full charge almost 48 hours in it is still on 26%. It is not significantly bigger than my old Series 7 with a Spigen case and is massively lighter than my old Seiko diving watch. The action button will sell me on an apple watch the day they let me program it to start a preset timer. For sailing races I need a countdown from 3 minutes several times a day. One click to start the timer, another to stop the timer, and another to reset. It would be so simple but I guess adding a music quiz was more important.

Personally I still bought the ultra just for the feeling and the looking of the watch on my wrist when I'm living in the city. It is a beautiful piece of electronic devices to own or play with, I'd say, if the battery could last for over a week in low power mode. It will kill most other none pro smart watch. In addition. if the battery can last 7 days with normal use . wow I'm happy to pay 3 times of the price just for the easier life, consider you can use it for 2~3 years or maybe more? $3000 ultra with 7 days normal use power does not feel expensive at all.

Im a man with smaller wrist but i ended up loving the rugged look and large screen…the crown gaurd makes it look less like a tv. And it dosent look huge to me on my wrist at all. Bought mine 2 days ago in Phuket Thailand where I retired to a year ago from the US. Absolutely love the Ultra! I have a Series 7 with cellular purchased in the US but unfortunately it’s not compatible with the Thai cellular system, at least with my provider, AIS. I power walk and run almost everyday along the ocean and because of no working cellular on my watch wasn’t able to get calls or listen to tunes, (Not about to lug an iphone Pro Max along.) so obviously happy to have cellular again, but most of all I love the design, size and features of the Ultra! The ruggedness is one of the most important to me as I’m living much more of an outdoor lifestyle now, and my existing Apple watch had scratches on the screen not just from normal use and accidental bumps, but also in a scooter accident earlier this year. I too worried about the size, but forget about it! It’s incredibly light, and the Alpine Loop band it came with is amazingly comfortable, much more so than the silicone sport band on my other Apple watch. I’m a certified diver but haven’t been on a dive in decades and can’t wait to get back into and test this baby out in the extremes of being deep in the ocean.

    The idea of it being something that limits my need to carry my phone is a huge plus. I've been hanging onto my Series 3 since they came out, but frankly haven't seen a reason to upgrade, but I'm starting to get swayed by the things I'm hearing about for the Ultra - especially battery life and just pure ease of use.

    (2:36) People are missing the actual point of the watch. Hence why it is called the Ultra. It is big enough to be visible in adverse circumstances, like Diving or a Blizzard…
    You can bet there will be a smaller version in the near future, but it wont be call the ultra mini, more like the AppleWatch Pro / Max…

    You’re not doing anything wrong. You are exactly the market this Apple Watch Ultra was designed for: non athletes. Because athletes won’t use this device if they are true mountaineering , divers or ultra runners. They would use other devices with topo maps physiological parameters and a very long battery. So Apple designed the ultra for non explores and made them a little bit guilty of not being adventurous while getting the AWUltta but simultaneously they are saying in their heads: but it’s the best Apple Watch so I’ll get it, so what!

    • @blaisebanko3487

      The problem is people thinking that a weekends worth of battery isn’t enough. I do many long runs and would use it. Why pay twice as much for Garmin or Suunto? Nobody, literally NOBODY needs a watch with 2-3 weeks of a battery. It takes zero effort to put it on a charger.

    Just picked one up. Not sure I can justify the 800 price tag. It’s heavy and a little bulky, but damn does it look good. Depending on the cellular service you have, it may not perform untethered from your phone as well as you would like. Mine has issues streaming music while independent from my phone which bugs the living shit out of me. Oh well.

    • @MichaelSoledad
      @MichaelSoledad  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the watch can have inconsistent signals when streaming music so I download them before hand. Although the latest update seems to have improved performance significantly.

    • @Pays2Win
      @Pays2Win ปีที่แล้ว

      I talked with T mobile about it. Apparently it has something to do with the areas they provide service to. They said once the infrastructure is upgraded the performance will improve however, they don’t have a timeline. There’s a lot of complaints in the T-Mobile chat rooms about this issue with the watch.
