I never knew about this Kei car in particular. Right when you started driving, I was confused, expecting to hear a 4 cyl, only to realize it's a 650cc 3cyl. The sound of the car gives the impression you're driving a powerful car, but it only has 65hp. For sure I would want to drive this car and try it out, as I'm sure it'll feel a lot faster and have a much more fun drive than my 07 es350, not that I don't love my car.

I had one; no one ever believed it when I called out the speed. It broke down 80% childlike joy/20% mortal terror for passengers.

the absolute best part of this car is how hard you can push it without reaching jail speeds

@Clay Wong great review! As an owner of a Honda Beat here in the U.S. I can agree with just about everything you said. These little cars are a blast to drive and they get as much attention as a $200k Ferrari!
However the price you quoted “$15k to $30k” is waaaaay off. You can pick these up from $5k to $10k all day long.
I have the honor of buying the cheapest Honda Beat in North America, and despite a few minor annoyances, when she is running right she is an absolute joy to drive!
    Keep up the great work!

I wanted a cool two seater by summer of 2022 and was thinking of a Porsche Boxster or a Miata. But, after doing a deep dive on the 91-96 Honda Beat, I think that's the way to go. I just want a car to take to shows and cruise. No need to go fast -- I got a motorcycle for that. The little Honda wins hands down with the 'cool' factor. You're right with your estimates, from what I've seen. Maybe $12k for a nice low miles one, tops. but I see them from $6-10k, at least these last 2 months. This is also one of the most affordable JDM import cars when you look at all the popular options already stateside. Do you mind if i ask where you purchased yours?

@@cripplermaximus my Beat came with a very unique story which hopefully I’ll be able to get into more detail on my channel. Long story short I was introduced to my Beat back in 2010 at my annual Honda Event that I host called H2O. The owner promised to sell it to me one day and that day finally came a year and a half ago.
There are many places and ways to purchase one aside from Facebook Marketplace and eBay. Private owners are the way to go vs through a dealership or importer who generally add and extra $2k in “fees”. A buddy of mine recently found one on line in Japan and imported it himself for under $6,500 total including shipping!
Best of luck with your search and feel free to contact me with any questions. Happy Holidays!

The fix for the heel and tow issue is to get a dished wheel, so your knee doesn’t hit the steering wheel, you can also sit further back (if not already maxed out) to straighten legs more. The Beat has a very short leg, long arm driving position from factory, making for difficult angles in the legs for heel tow…

The heavy steering you experienced in this car is due to the tyre width, the Beat review had 175 on the front. This should be 155. These are a way to wide.

I've had one here in the UK for about 12 years. I've quite desirable cars too and I know if I'd placed the keys on their bonnets then the Beat would come top for selection. Yes it's tiny. Yes storage is really restricted. Etc etc. But even onlookers join the driver by smiling.

With the speed limiter bypassed, it will bury the speedometer...which isn't saying much, as it only displays 140km/h. It will only go up to (what appears to be) 160km/h...and is limited by gearing. It will hit the rev limiter in 5th gear...you can't go any faster. Doesn't actually take that long to get there, surprisingly.
...ask me how I know 😉

I would guess he was quoting AUD on the Australian market, which is about right. Decent ones are about 20k, more for mint ones.
