@@attorneysteve It is Northern District of Oklahoma. I talked with one of your staff members and they found out they wouldn't allow out of state representation. The good news is that I was able to get the company to settle with me without having to go to court. However, I would've likely done much better with someone like you representing me.
Hi so i'm about to release a music project via distrokid, however i wanna copyright it. But I'm stuck on the publishing page where it asks if my work is published. Is my work published via distrokid? Or how do I go about doing that b/c it looks like my project can't be copyrighted until it's published.
Anyway it's always bugging me, what if someone reupload my music on their chanel and monetize it, could i copyright them, or is it automatically get the share of the revenue or even could strike them. Or does it taking no action anyway? Because the reason i wanna use distrokid because i wanna secure my music. Any thoughts om that?

I signed up for distribution of our latest album trough distrokid and guess what on Spotify below the album it says "©Records DK". That's wrong! They should have put in "© Solid Rock Blues Band" just like TuneCore and CDBaby did (we released previous albums trough them). Another problem with DK many have is: they won't respond to emails or support tickets. They also all of the sudden started taking a lot of money from several artists "due to tax law" as they claim.. it seems they're not so great after all.. our next album will not be released trough DK, that's for sure.
Happy Fourth of July, Attorney Steve. 🌴🎇🍺🌴
Always a ton of value from your channel. 😎👍🏻
Happy Fourth!!! Steve
Awesome info, as always! I wish you were my IP attorney. District court rules prevent that, unfortunately.
which district court are you in? Many provide a path for out of state lawyers....for example for copyright litigation purposes

Thank you.
thank you for this, only question i have is what do i do if i already have a soundcloud with my artist name an a few songs dropped?
I’m sure you’ve probably figured this out by now but distro doesn’t put songs on SoundCloud
How can I get the terms after you passed them?
Hi does that mean if someone’s music is provided by distrokid it is copyrighted so I can’t use there music as my backround music?
Quick question do I need to still copyright my sound recording or am I good being that I uploaded it on distrokid and see that P logo next to it?
Check with them. Most of my clients like to get their stuff copyrighted to make clear who owns it. SV

Yes, Distrokid has a ContentID service for $4.95 annually and 20% of the revenue of all matches they detect, the rest will be paid to you
