Best interview so far ! Egbon Segun Adewale is down to earth, wise, funny and witty. A very very special human being. Pity I never played for him or worked for him.
Well -done to this interviewer. You really got a lot of information out of Baba. Baba does not know me but I met him as a child, I think I was about 8yrs old and I still remember him as a fair handsome man. He used to visit one of his band member( guitarist) by the name Thousandwire in Oworonsoki, Lagos State.
I failed to ask egbon to give us his contact number to find out what we can do to help him to release his 14 songs yet to be released. Thanks for your efforts. Peace!✌️
Kasa ma foriti…truly got my attention few years ago because of its excellence in lyrics and musical composition, including a beautiful rendition for a noted plastic industrialist at the time. This gentleman is highly talented and I respect him more for his authenticity in this interview with Agbaletu.
I'm taken aback somehow, by Pa Adewale's gesture and response in this interview. I think, he's being economical with the truth, as he captioned his early life and music career, IMO (i may be wrong though). And he's not coherent, with his response. He's too dramatic and most of the time in the interview, defeated and sounded too unserious with facts. Again, I'm surprise, he's lost his voices. He's such a beautiful singer with velevet voice. There's so much, that have happened to him over time, which he seems not to want to reveal, IMO.
Weldon sir @ Agbaletu... More grace and wisdom.. More years to witness baba segun adewale.... I played guitar for baba segun adewale during his closeness with my father, Prophet Timothy funso akande
the interviewer is very good with his works. Good interview methods, research base questions, bold to disagree with interviewee and very professional. Kudos❤❤❤
The interview really got me glued to my seat. Very interesting and informative. Segun Adewale, yes maybe not so great on the guitar, is a great and accomplished musician. I really enjoyed the interview. May you live long sir And to Agbaletu, you are just great. However, you may try not to make the interview this long as not so many people have the time to sit down and watch interview for this length of time. Bravo to you. You are doing so so well 👍
This interview is a fantastic one, it goes down memory lane, so interesting and funny. I like the way you throw questions at Alagba Segun Adewale, so probing and revealing.😅😅 I love you all ❤❤❤
Another great one, Agba. Interestingly, another musician Dr.Orlando Owo came to S&T barracks at Eleyele so frequently in the early 80s...you could almost assume he lived around there.
Great interview, and delighted to see Prince Adewale in great body and mind. I think the young man interviewing him wasted many opportunities to learn more from his wealth of experiences on irrelevant information. Like one of the comments below I was glued to my seat. Very interesting and productive life of a legend, hope young entertainers can learn from his advice on endurance in any endeavors we engage in. Long live sir, and thanks Agbaletu TV for availing the presentation.
some might consider those pieces of information regarded as irrelevant as most interesting. Information resonates with individuals differently and severally
From this interview you will agree with me that Segun was a stubborn boy in his formative years but discover his destiny as God plan it. If Prince Segun Adewale had completed her medical program at University of Ife then may be nobody who have known him. How many of his medical colleagues did we hear about today. I pray to God may He lead our young ones to discover their destiny early in life.
He got the dates and ages wrong . He was born in 1949 and said he had joined music by 1967 That’s after being in Ife for four years. It doesn’t add up. Ife was a fledgling university at that time period with no medical school. The medical school started in 1971. I read all of Prof Grillos articles when I was in the university on his vision for the school. The baba needs a a proper biographer who will go into his personal records and make things straight. He was a very brilliant and handsome musician back in the day
I was at cetnary hall ake Abeokuta when the two of them are together during the time they released an album awa ni super star sare sare sare sare wao tete mujojo o with shina peter
The same complaint Ade-Wesco gave that he recorded many record under Ibukun Orisuniye, but, he was paid a token for 10 years. He said Ibukun Orisuniye was not a good man. He later collected Civilian bus and the instruments he bought for him.
You are doing a great job Mr Dele. You are very assertive and I’m thrilled with all your interviews. Definitely you will progress well in life ijmn Amen 🙏🏻. Please let us all Yorubas refrain from saying ‘agbalagba puro’ You could use better phrase to communicate to an elder if you don’t agree with what he said to be the truth. All your interviews are very informative which children of today and tomorrow would love to listen to and such should not be communicated in Yoruba language to elders at all. Don’t be upset, just my observation and feedback ❤ I wish you all the best in life 👍.
point of correction IK Dairo lived in Ibadan for a while. There is even a street named after him where he built his house around Agodi Gate , Ibadan. He did the video of "ERORA FESO JAIYE AIYE OLOPIN" @ that house.
Oga Segun Adewale was trying to be economical with thr truth about being in Ife for four years studying medicine. His responses to the questions on his sorjourn in Ife do not add up. He doesn't need to embellish his story for it to be interesting. My two cents is that the man never attempted to study medicine. SSP's interview was far more enlightening and genuine that this. My apologies, if i offended anyone, i am a huge fan of both men, but this interview is not very honest for me.
Your comment was very succinct. I don't believe his brief stint in Ife as he claimed. Four years in the four walls of a university as the great Ife caliber, should reflect in his intellect. The Mr Olofinjana, was my late mom's teacher in primary school Ifako, Agege, axis then. My mom's parents were amongst the first settlers in Arogangan village, Ifako, Agege. He's right about Mr Olofinjana, being his teacher. The interviewer did his homework properly. I liked his interjection during the interview, which sometimes exposed the loopholes in Mr Segun's response.
Baba Segun Adewale has paid his dues in the music industry, both locally and internationally. May the Almighty God continue to uphold, strengthen and bless him in Jesus mighty name.
Just I assumed all along, the young man based most of his questions on cross examining Prince Adewale. The legend himself can figure it out by the middle of the interview, " O tigbo nibi kan ni tabi lagbaja so fun e " .
Mr Segun Adewale might wanted to mentioned ₦100. Market survey in 1979/80 were: Ralign Bicycle🚲 was ₦15 SuzukiA100 & B120 Motorcycle were between ₦500 & ₦502 Volkswagen1500 was ₦2,000 Peugeot 504 L was ₦5,000 Boarding Secondary school tuition fee was ₦12.
Another rumour i heard about Baba Segun Adewale was about his "false accomplishments" as a guitarist. In 1992, i was quite young and we had a neighbor in the same compound who back then, his name is Uncle Kayode and he was a musician, actually a guitarist and he plays for a band. I recalled back in 92, i was in the sitting room watching a live performance of Baba Segun Adewale with his band on tv and immediately Uncle Kayode quipped that Segun Adewale was a poor guitar player. And Immediately the camera was focused on Segun Adewale during a guitar instrumental interlude, and just at that instant, Baba Segun Adewale turned his back to the audience and camera so the camera and audience couldn't see his deficiency. That experience left an indelible mark on my young mind. For a guitarist who was an accomplished musician and member of a band to criticize the skills of a leading artiste like Segun Adewale and while he was still talking we saw Baba's stylish backing of the audience and camera for an instrumental interlude. The story of this Uncle Kayode must be very plausible. 😅
I know uncle kay very well, he was member of my uncle band in the 70s before he and uncle Ilumo went to super segun Adewale band while Uncle Tunde Afolabi and late Uncle AdeWunmi Ogunsanmi aka super went to sir shina Peters band.
Segun Adewale is indeed an accomplished musician, great voice and good compositions. However, he cannot clain not to have used other artistes' songs. I am aware that the song "igi oko dorikodo, ojojo mo s'ewe ayo,,,,' was originally by another old musician. Perhaps late Wale Glorious but not certain.
He met IK Dairo at Ibadan, he also met Atolagbe at Ibadan and all others he mentioned before Prince Adekunle. What time has he to attend all the schools he quoted. Can he ever combine academic with those escapades? I doubt it. A "boy" that claimed he ran away from home at early age, who then was his sponsor?
Great interview. Headline could be better. I understand you want to draw viewers but don’t let seem like you are pitching these great musicians against one another.
I so much love Segun Adewale but I doubt if truly he was in Ife for medicine and surgery. He couldn't have spent 4 yrs studies medicine and still abandon it. Okay, let him mention a few of his classmates who later graduated as doctors
The interviewer is good and intelligent but could get hyped and carried away few times. You could try to find out the truth with guest but don’t let it turn to argument.

Great interview but i find some of his responses quite verbose, some conflicting like the price of Peugeot car in the early 80s was surely around N4,500...As such i find his tale about his 4 years stint at Ife Uni studying Medicine a bit suspicious and creative... but then i maybe wrong... My days in Radio Lagos in the late 70s to mid 80s afforded some of us unfettered access to these crooners and the industry at large..
