Baba Simoni Ayelabowo is very right. He has always been very punctual. I had the opportunity of playing with him btw 1997/1998 when we were together in Mr. Akin Atoki (Honey Makers) led inter reformers band. Baba Ayelabowo will always be one of the first to get to any show. There was never a dull moment with him at all. Whenever he sets his eyes on me, he will use his drum to welcome me by drumming "Olusegun aja segun, kaabo se daada lode" 😂😆😂 Mr. Dele Coker took me to join the band as a bassist. Im now the leader of Osta Tee & De-Merciful Band. Mr. Ayelabowo's favourite quote anyday anytime is "Modupe lowo Olorun"..... Im happy for him. He is very creative.
agbaletu, iam one of your biggest fans, iam an igbo guy but i deal with african music, my brother has a record stores back then , we rocord music and sale music , i can connect with every musicians ,and i like to listen to all the band membered as per every interviews, including agbagba fans , ajimutu record store at ibadan omo aje record store ogo oluwa records stores. that where we buy our records back then , keep it up brother;
This is a very humble, loyal and dedicated man. He has got a very good sense of humor and respectful. He understand what dedication and hard work is. I definitely enjoyed this interview.
Baba Simoni made some very salient points regarding his time in the inter-reformers band - bitter sweet it seems, but, mainly his interview was balanced, and I admire his openness by accepting that the band members especially - talking drummers inadvertently made some of the great Juju band leaders adopt some of the divide and rule style of leadership they exerted within the ranks of their bands. It reminds me of the saying, ‘ you cannot clap with one hand’ or it ‘takes two to tango’. Great interview!
Another excellent and insightful interview from respectful Baba Simoni which is consistent with interviews he gave in the past. I wish him longer life and continued radiant health.
Ohh, what a deep and educative interview! Ahhhh! This man is straightforward, focused, godly, down to earth & full of integrity. A typical Ekiti man😂May you live long my brother. But I read on the social media recently that the last surviving band member of Ebenezer Obey had just died. It's like this man is still alive oo! Despite his bitterness on certain issues, he has a heart of gratitude & continued to thank God. Ò mo'nú rò. You are a shining light. God bless you real good.
Buda Simon is truthful with his statement. We lived together at Ilasamaja before. He had boys at Ibadan street while himself was staying at Salako street . I salute you sir
No matter what you do in life think about tomorrow life is too short be good to people Mr Simon you have suffered a lot God have already blessed you thank God
I'm thanking Dele Adeyanju for bringing all these talented veterans' band boys from great musicians in Nigeria. I'm one of compulsive fans of Ebenezer Obey band and late Ayinde Barrister. Please, if you can bring other veterans, like Sunday, Fadugba, Francis Aluko, and others. We will be appreciate.
Baba aiyelabowo is a good man. He decided not to recall pains and he succeeded not to sound bitter althrough. Kudos to the eminent interviewer and the lovely interviewee.
I have learnt a lot from this interview. Thank you very much Agbaletu for this great work. Hopefully, someday we will have the opportunity of sharing our story in the music industry. Amen!!
God bless Àgbà man for this interview, but please let them play talking drum for us, like 2 or 3 Proverbs to be in the documentary. God will enrich you bountifully . Baba simoni my mentor, baba is very respectful, it's not easy, so part of his stories almost get me emotional, this interview really lifts my spirit that no matter the hard times we passing through, it shall surely pass and we shall come out victorious, imagine someone that has gone to America , Uk and Europe and want to commit suicide😢 I pray you live long in good health baba simoni, ipade wa bii oyin lagbara Oluwa, i know God's grace i'll meet you one day soonest ❤
Nice interview, Agbaletu, and keep shining. May God continue to bless and protect you, with good health and longevity Simoni Omo Ayelabowo. I really admired you for your boldness and honesty. Keep it up. Thanks for all these insights.
I am very passionate about talking drums as well as other instruments and always listen with attempts to interpret what was played. You bringing all these instrumentalists and getting to know their works and interpreting what was played gives me so much joy. You are the best Mr. Dele Adeyanju. God continue to bless you and protect you.
Thank you brother simoni, for uplifting the name of our great town (okemesi-ekiti). But,i expect you to talk about the egun oba drum that u add to the album of it's a goal o Odegbanmi at around 78 or79, after iicc shooting wone the African winners cup in 1976. Baba re a'gbe yin o.Agbaletu well-done.
Sir Dele Abiodun, I can't but laud your efforts as regard giving we young talents the privilege to learn from the elders. Your questions are outstanding, and you have a great aura around you. I will soon become a super star and I will keep referencing your platform. Much ❤
Yes, in the beginning there was word, and the word is God. Baba Ebenezer Obey, will rather talk than actions. He is also, a disciplinary man and very funny. He loved, what does, believed in it and makes it happened. Baba Obey is also a family man, and a good Father, that took care of his people.
Sir Dele Abiodu. Please, is there a way to involve interviewing legendary radio presenters too? Like Baba Dele Tomori, Adeoye Bakare, Kola Olootu and more. God bless you real good Sir. ❤
His home town , Imesi Ile, is a walking distance from Esa Oke in Osun State though his town is in Ekiti State. The two towns share the same dialectic intonation of Ijesha dialect.
The interview was very well conducted. Mr. Simoni Ayelabowo spoke factually, The only aspect not clear to me is that, he stressed that he had virtually nothing when he was with Obey, but later stated that he purchased a Datson 120Y car (2nd hand) for his father as of the time he was with Obey. Can someone without money buy a car for his dad ?
In what Mr Simoni said about money sharing, i think the problem is with the management because they have the last say. After giving Commander his own percentage, the rest will be shared by the management who are not truthful about it. It's not really Commander's fault.
Simon, doesn't have a good memory of their works. Gango gango alagogo was second side of the Ebun pataki album, and Ebenezer Obey's band was split in 1982.
These band boys, they bite more than they can chew in the sense that they have a harem of women and father so many children that is difficult for them to raise with the pittance they get from the band. Summarily, they cannot make ends meet and they end up blaming the band leaders as the reason for their woes.
From what he has said, the band is divided into 2 because some were having cars, living well and other category not well treated. Another thing from the interview, Obey did not have much say even Alhaji Mutiu was doing as he wanted yet had big boys following and living well. I want to believe it was funded from money he paid. Grace pass grace smoking for 50years and still counting but someone will play few days and have cancer, no copy copy in life o😂.
An Ebenezer Obey biopic would be very good with all this stories from his former band boys 😂 "I'm the boss of the business, I'm Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey, Olasupo Remilekun by name" 😂😂
Baba Ebenezer Obey is a human being, and everybody has his/ hers one or two things. No one is perfect except God. I believed Commander, is not exceptional because every party, ceremony will not be the same. Thank you for being truthful and honest. Am glad, you said it out that Commander is not brutal but the gang members like the managers, captains and emergency ogas.

Wow!..
Baba Aiyelabowo had finally revealed that Pastor Paul Tao is from Lake Chad.
No regret listening to this interview at all.
Buda Simon is truthful with his statement. We lived together at Ilasamaja before. He had boys at Ibadan street while himself was staying at Salako street . I salute you sir
Very good man … met him once on Barking road … then we met at our family holiday trip south end
This man looks good at 70! He definitely takes care of himself. Thanks Agbaletu for bringing another important figure to us.
I love to see him handling talking drum. He's a legend. More strength to him
No matter what you do in life think about tomorrow life is too short be good to people Mr Simon you have suffered a lot God have already blessed you thank God
God bless you Àgbà man for this, so happy as I saw this notification just now, I'm coming back after watching it comment, baba simoni my mentor 🎉

1:05:50 - The album that Simoni Ayelabowo wanted to remember is "There Is No Friend Like Jesus," recorded at Decca West African Studios in 1979.
You are 100% right.
Fantastic show! More grease to your elbow agbaletu. I really enjoy it. I learned and gained a lots today. God bless you my brother. Appreciate🫶🏽🙌
Baba Simoni is right. Throughout his stay in London, he was never late to a show. We played together
We must protect Agbaletu by all means, He is a national treasure. I want his retentive memory
Very interesting and straight forward. Thanks, Simeon Ayelabowo, for being honest and open.
I have learnt a lot from this interview. Thank you very much Agbaletu for this great work. Hopefully, someday we will have the opportunity of sharing our story in the music industry. Amen!!
Thank you, Uncle Simoni, for mentioning the case of Ayan Kunle. Truth must be told ❤❤.....May God bless you, sir 🙏 .....you are full of wisdom ✨️ 🙌 🙏

It has been a pleasure meeting Baba Simoni, he even made his former boss , Baba Obey, look good.

This Dele Adeyanju guy does his research very well before bringing all these ex-drummers on his show. He’s well informed. Kudos to him.

Lively and opened discussion.

Thank you so much
Agbaletu well done - possible to share the Honeymakers lead by Akin album ?
Please who led the drums in the record of OGUNPA and Oba Sijuade.
The interview was very well conducted. He mentioned that he did extra hustles on the side besides playing for Inter Reformers.
As a man, there must be other side jobs to make money
First I will always say this all this men’s are just realizing there worth
Boda Sunday . Our church drummer in those those

Asiko laye! Igba iponju ni asiko tire. Igba adun ni asiko tire. Igba awa omo eniyan, ni asiko tire. E je ki a se rere lenu ise ati ise wa.
I very much like your comment and Yoruba orthography. Only very few persons write Yoruba words correctly.
Huun,it’s not Commander’s fault not to give job to this papa, but he will not remind him because of the evil of those talking drummers before
@Agbaletu- Dele Adeyanju... Yungba...yungba is not in Celebration album, but in the Aya F'Oba Mimo...lo le fo na wan wa o.
YOU ARE WRONG.
Ebenezer had a plan, he merely stopped to conquer. The band effectively became his following name recognition. He could stamp his authority then.
I wish one day some of these bandleader will come to this program and defend themselves
This man interview shows why instrumentalist are treated cheaply. Many of them just want to play or looking for place to play or start.
Baba were ni baba yi😂😂😂😂 commander GRO Emi ni MFR😂😂😂
Agbaletu eku ise Opolo
Hummmn band leaders!!!
Simon, doesn't have a good memory of their works. Gango gango alagogo was second side of the Ebun pataki album, and Ebenezer Obey's band was split in 1982.
You really tried.
These band boys, they bite more than they can chew in the sense that they have a harem of women and father so many children that is difficult for them to raise with the pittance they get from the band. Summarily, they cannot make ends meet and they end up blaming the band leaders as the reason for their woes.
May the Lord bless you for your comment.
Say what you know about
From what he has said, the band is divided into 2 because some were having cars, living well and other category not well treated. Walahi has become part of Yoruba word though it’s pure Arabic.
I believe Ebenezer obey is not different from Wasiu Ayinde, who has been maltreating their band boys for decades.
Baba Ebenezer Obey is a human being, and everybody has his/ hers one or two things. No one is perfect except God. I believed Commander, is not exceptional because every party, ceremony will not be the same. Thank you for being truthful and honest. Chair 💺 😆
The industry is exploitative
Maybe Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey was diabolical.
HAA ! Emphatic NO !!!!!!!
