    The i9 is running up to 1.45V (9:51). Limit it to 1.25V, the power draw will decrease around 60%. I've measured it with my i9 under same load and same ratios, and changed only the voltage with Intel XTU. Here are the results:
    1.45V = 162W
    1.40V = 142W
    1.35V = 132W
    1.30V = 115W
    1.25V = 104W
    Maybe you can it do with your unlocked MSI-laptop, and undervolt it, so the max voltage is 1.25V, and compare it again.

    To me I am amazed amd was able to gain on Intel's huge lead in laptop and keep it going giving a good choice between each - Intel and AMD 4000 series was the begining of AMD being competitive in laptops yet the 4000 series is slow in comparison to the new zen4 7000 series. The gains for both Intel and AMD is amazing

    Aww, direct comparison and test! Though there're many aspects to compare 2 laptop, my most concern is just about raw CPU single thread perform. Maybe you're the 1st one made compare between these 2 new CPU. I rewatch your video, to make sure I get better opt suite for my request. I think this first comparison made the Intel i9 looks pretty strong to me, especially considering it is avaible on many laptops and configuration. I'm kinda ""let down"" by the performance of the
    Ryzen considering the advantage it has in process node. I always ask myself how good an Intel chip would be with their hybrid architecture developed with a more advanced node like 5nm o 4nm from TSMC. Let's hope for a strong comback with 14th gen and Intel 4 node, especially efficiency wise, because the 13th gen will be destroyed by Phoenix 4nm soon enough 🙈

    • @kodakblack531
      @kodakblack531 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is phoenix next ryzen cpu? Does ryzen release new gen cpu every year or 2 years bc I bought 12th gen when 5950x was out then 7000 came out which is weird I thought it’d be 6000 and I had 12th gen for a year already then 13th gen came out

    • @matthewsykes2646
      @matthewsykes2646 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kodakblack531 this year Amd presented 2 families of laptop processors, Dragon Range for the high end gaming and creators laptops, that is the one tested in this review, based on tsmc 5nm node, a maximum of 16 core and rdna 2 integrated graphic (it's basically their desktop architecture), and then the other one, Phoenix, that will come out in the next month or two acvording to Amd, with a maximum of 8 core based on tsmc 4nm node, rdna 3 integrated graphic and a dedicated AI accelerator. This architecture has been designed specifically for thin and light laptop with great performance and excellent battery life. Unfortunally Intel will not have a response to Amd at least until the 14th gen that, according to Intel, shoud be out in Q4 of 2023. The Ryzen 6000 series on the other hand has been a refresh of the 5000 series with a little more advanced node (7 vs 6nm) that improved a bit performance and battery life. I hope i've been clear enough :)

      You are disappointed that the 16 core 7945HX was beating the 24 core i9-13980HX at 50% less power?

    • @matthewsykes2646
      @matthewsykes2646 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DeepteshLovesTECH i have never said that, and, by the way, i'm much more disappointed by the lack of power efficiency in Intel chips that from the ""lower"" performance of Amd. First of all, the Intel has 8P core and 16E core so, even if they're 24 they're less powerful then 16 performance core of the Ryzen, and that show how GOOD Amd is at power efficiency, but, the Ryzen do not consume 50% less power. In the Cinebench R23 test the difference was 30-35W on average if i remember correctly, but it's still A LOT less power, especially on a laptop. I am kinda "let down" by the singole core performance because programs like photoshop, lightroom ecc runs faster on Intel chips. So, even with their big advantage in architecture efficiency and advanced 5nm node they're still not able to beat Intel in that regard. But even looking at the handbrake test, when using Intel optimization you got better performance, yes at the cost of efficiency, but if you use those laptops as a desktop replacement power efficiency is not a real problem. I'm not an Intel fan, infact as my next computer i'm looking to a Rog G14 with AMD processor, but i'm just curious to see what Intel can do with a more efficient node because right now we are looking at ≈7nm (the old 10nm enanched superfin) vs 5nm in this case and 4nm with Phoenix, so an advantage in power efficiency is to be expected. But still, an amazing job from AMD considering that this is basically a desktop chip in a laptop and, as i said before, Phoenix will enanche even more their efficiency leadership over 13th gen. :)

    Dude, the ryzen is not an undervolt, its a V/F shift.. you are not reducing the voltage but increasing the clock speed for the same voltages points, also the number is not mV, its step and each of them its 3 mV

    • @GizmoSlipTech
      @GizmoSlipTech  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the explanation. I am always trying to learn more, though this effectively behaves the same way as undervolting on Intel, undervolting is higher clockspeed at the same wattage-the performance is improved because efficiency is improved at the same wattage level. Is that not exactly what is happening here too? I think it is fair to still call it undervolting, as both methods are simply increasing efficiency at the same power level.

    • @HyrrokkinX
      @HyrrokkinX ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GizmoSlipTech you welcome ! no, offsetting is undervolting, lowering voltages per given clock speed on its stock curve, curve optimizer is actually overclocking, you are increasing clock speeds beyond its stock curve.. you cant say.. i am undervolting because i overclocked. despite this detail, reviews are good ! i am slowly watching them all.. keep it up !

    • @GizmoSlipTech
      @GizmoSlipTech  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HyrrokkinX I agree and disagree. We doing going about it differently on intel and amd cpus, but the effective outcome is exactly the same-higher effective clock speed because of power efficiency increase allowing higher frequencies at the same voltage. Neither intel or AMD are actually fully hitting their max performance all-core turbo frequencies, so they both have room to grow within the existing power limits on these laptops. To me, undervolting means increasing power efficiency to boost clock speed at the same power limit, which is exactly the end result in both intel/amd laptops. I get what you’re saying by saying it is not being done in the same way for intel/amd. But to me, it is still fair to call both methods undervolting since that is what users are familiar with for increasing power efficiency. But I agree I should describe it differently in how it is being implemented onto the ryzen cpu. It isnt a voltage offset, but a shifting target frequencies at the same voltage-still provides the same benefit to the user though.

    • @HyrrokkinX
      @HyrrokkinX ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GizmoSlipTechthey are cousins for sure! but on intel with offset you lower the voltage for the same clock speed, on amd with CO you increase clockspeed for.. the same voltage wich is also why CO is part of the Amd overclocking set utilities like Pbo and void warranty.. voltage offset wich is also present in amd is the same as on intel and that purely undervolt. when you undervolt intel you may get better sustained boost speed cause off setting will improve thermals on heavy loads, on Amd you literally ordering the cpu to go faster despite what Pbo will decide, temperatures etc and till tjmax, different from intel thermal velocity boost like i said above :) there are very nice pdf both from intel and amd on internet explaining all these things, i must admit that when curve optimizer came out at the very beginning i was confused as well.. keep it up ! bye

Often the laptop runs hot, just from regular background tasks, and that's why it never hits anywhere near the peak single core frequency. On the other hand my ryzen laptop runs cool, and feels much more snappy as it always has thermal headroom to boost close to the peak single core frequency.

    The duo 16 has a software bug in armour crate causing much higher cpu temps. I wonder if this bug is effecting the 2023 duo. My temps used to be 79-82 in warzone 2.0 but after the update I was hitting 95 or more. After deleting the service that caused it the temps went down.

      @Ekami67 my duo was unfortunately bugged. Had to replace mobo. Still waiting for it to come back. Temps always above 98 no matter LM reapplied also tried a 0,1mm copper shim in case there wasn't a perfect contact. No solution. Only below 50W helped. Anything above while running every game was pushing to 99C

      @@FrancySalva I think that's the norm, mine also runs pretty hot.
      If you went as far as repasting and it didn't work, 2 things to consider:
      - Gizmo used a -30mV, it might be stable for a few days but in my case -30mV works for a few hours and then my laptop crash + reboot. Mine is stable at -17.
      - Maybe his AC is pretty low, given he's wearing a T-shirt it's prob not lower than 24C tho lol (ambiant remperature plays a big role)
      - He got an unit pretty early, the recent BIOS update definitely tweaked the CPU behavior as I noticed it in games after updating my BIOS.

    • @FrancySalva
      @FrancySalva ปีที่แล้ว

      @Ekami67 dunno, tried to undervolt and didn't help, also updated bios and didn't help at all. Mine unit was running quite stable at 99 and sometimes went in thermal throttling, while run great in stress tests like cinebench r32. Also disabling boost behaviour via bios didn't help. I tried everything but nothing help and also in quite older games like doom I got that temps

    Can you please compare 8P vs 8P cores of Intel vs AMD in Cinebench r23/24 multi-core performance. Without any E cores at all. Case I chose CPU for VIVADO/MATLAB with can utilize only 8 of CPU cores.

    Any plans for a detailed overclocking under volting guide for the ASUS scar 17 have recently purchased one even with an under volt I'm hitting a thermal throttle awesome laptop, I'm frankly astounded at the performance, I don't have the ability to take a cooling pad with me for most of my travelling reason I bought a laptop in the first place.
