      @@bananaman6324 Hi, I am using my Flow also as a student and for this type of work the fans has never started cooling laptop. Laptop use to get bit hotter but it's mainly the bottom whitch gets hot so it's not uncomfortable to use. Only the desk under laptop is bit warmed up. But after all, laptop is very very good at cooling and dealing with hot tempreatures considering how thin it is. Obviously, after connecting charging cable and running games (for example I played Forza Hoziron 5 on it) fans do kick in. But I am playing with noice canceling headphones and I was never able to hear fans at like 30% in game volume. And when fans do kick in, laptop deals with tempreatures amazingly. Also power of fans is customaizable in ROG armoury app and also through function key.

  • @KevinMuldoon

    Great overview of these new laptops.
    There's been a lot of interesting laptops being announced, but I believe ASUS has made the best changes. A lot of other companies are using the same chassis as last year and just adding this year's CPUs and GPUs etc.
    In comparison, ASUS has made more of an effort to do something different. They've added mux switches to all of their gaming laptops, added webcams to the G14 and G15, made a significant improvement to the X13 and caught everyone off guard by doing something unique with the Z13.
    The G14 and G15 are probably the most practical option for me, but I really love what they're doing with the Z13. I've had a Surface Pro laptop for years and love the form factor. Being able to game on a portable device like that would be awesome.
    Keep up the great work.

    G14 looks really great now with the 16:10 and 500nits, fixing a huge complain of mine from 2021 models. Echoing what others have said, 90hz refresh oled would be nice plus.. Maybe a touchscreen so that it'll also double as a nice tablet-esque movie/casual browsing device since it's almost light enough to compete with the lenovo IdeaPads/yogas of the world.
    My only other concern is it would've been nice to have a Nvidia dGpu option for the g14 since really dlss is a really nice feature.

    • @marcin_karwinski
      @marcin_karwinski 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In theory, since it's gong to come with AMD graphics I think it might be even better - their powershift tech seems to work better than AMD-Nvidia coupling and supposed to improve even more in this gen, and in this gen it's also coming with their driver-level image scaler for more generally available DLSS-like alternative such a thin device would appreciate. My only gripe, it might be coming with "up to" 24GB of DDR5, so it might be an 8GB worth soldered on and up to 16GB in the DIMM slot at current SODIMM DDR5 offerings. But I guess I might have misread it as a 24GB limit in Windows PC might become a shot in the foot for the device.

    • @_sunfish
      @_sunfish 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oled burns in, the pixel layout also isn't conventional so the image sharpness is lessened, and you have issues such as black crush that can be really annoying sometimes, so this display is in my opinion much better than oled.

      Would love to see someone with the skills, build a gaming laptop inside the new MacBook Pro 14 chassis, or even a manufacturer creating something similar would be nice, Razer almost got there but after owning the blade 15 and 14 I can't say I'm as impressed. No clue why the fan grill is on the bottom, the thing Is a dust magnet. and ruins the sturdiness of the design, especially as after a while the fan grills detach from the mesh underneath and pop out, ruining the whole thing.

    Hey Tom your 2021 video of upcoming ASUS products was the first time I saw the X13. Thank you for that!
    The imagination of having a High End Gaming PC, Notebook, Tablet all in one was a dream that had come true.
    I own the X13+XGM since its release 21. Almost 1 year later I'm still as blown away, as I was at my first touch experience!
    Because of the price and ASUS's experimental approach, I was worried if it has a future on the market.
    Now learning about the Z13 I'm not just relieved, I'm blown away once again! Never have I thought ASUS would be able to improve so fast on the creative side of it. How wrong I was!
    This slick beast is stylish beyond anything I've ever seen!
    Btw. I run my X13 mostly docked in combo with the Odyssey G9. There's a video of my setup on my channel if you're interested to see it (if I find time, I post an update).

On the other hand, I think they just want pen users to go for their Probook lineup which they might refresh later in the new platform lifecycles. Though the pressure sensitive pen-supporting touchpad in those books is far smaller than this secondary screen...

    The only thing holding the G14 is the dedicated AMD GPU. Will have to wait for independent reviews to see where it stacks against NVIDIA’s RTX 30 series.
    That and lack of money (for me at least) is holding me back.

      Before we get them, there is some light - 6800M reaches similar levels as the full 3080 and at least 3070, DLSS/RT aside, 6800S in this is supposed to be a 105W "thin and light" market chip with "similar" performance, that could in theory put it ahead of 3060 G14 of yesteryear (that was I believe 60W limited so slightly weaker than a regular 130W 3060). And they are promising a universal driver-level DLSS-like functionality to bolster performance lead in the lower-powered S-specs.This might therefore be a better solution for this market segment, especially combined with their powershift tech that could manage power draw and consequently heat of the components. I'm more afraid that the cooling might not be able to properly restrain the temps on those new powerful CPUs and GPUs in this small chassis. And that they might really be released in an up-to 24GB of RAM configuration with 8GB of DDR5 soldered on.

      @@marcin_karwinski Kinda forgot about that. Yeah the TDP limitation of GPU for each laptop varies quite a lot so a 3080 on one can have very different numbers on another. It’s true that AMD seems to provide more universal features compared to NVIDIA but seeing as there aren’t much of AMD’s mobile GPUs around (in comparison to NVIDIA), I am still leaning more towards the green team for now.
      Of course, availability and price may vary between markets. Since I’m in South East Asia, I’m screwed over the pricing no matter what device I choose.

    All comes down to pricing. Early adoption of DDR5 platforms won't be cheap. I expect a 25%+ inflation over last gen. Im actually looking to see what kind of deals last gen will offer once most of these are available.

    No G15 or M16?
    For me the G14 with it's screen update & spec bump is looking like the best option unless they show off a new M16 & it looks tasty.
    I don't know if I like the all AMD thing though with the G14, so maybe the M16 will be the play for me.
