Excellent work ZRock! Learned somethings even with 1.5k hours with slime :) Some little notes I'd add for new users to help with things I ran into --- Tracker Rotation --- Before running body proportion calibration (And every time I put slimes on) I recommend checking your trackers are aligned. With slime it's very important for the trackers to be rotated correctly, or for example when you lift your leg it'll lift to the side rather then straight. My calibration method: For chest / hip eyeball them and set straight, for thighs while standing lift knee to 90 degrees (as straight up as you can to avoid ankle rotation throwing off your thigh rotation) and touch with your controller. If it's off to the side of your controller, rotate it a little, I-Pose and do a full reset, repeat until accurate. For ankles I usually stand on one leg and point the other straight at about a 45 degree ankle from my hip and lay my controller on my thigh and check that my leg is straight. Not the most accurate way for ankle, a better way is probably to grab your foot behind your back or to the side and check it lines up with your controller, or put your foot on a chair and tilt your knee to the side with your controller touching your foot. Ankle affects your lower leg so you want a movement that angles your knee to check it's rotated correctly. Once you are used to it and understand it you can get that rotation calibration down to under the time it takes to boot up VRChat. --- Other little things --- When I go to do FBT calibration in VRChat I click calibrate, and while T-Posing I do a full tracker reset just before clicking in my triggers so I know every time I do a full reset in slime my avatar perfectly lines up with that reset and that there is no drift throwing off VRChat's calibration. If when you sit your legs cross it's likely your trackers are too high on your thighs. As you sit down the upper part of your thigh rotates inwards pulling the tracker with it, this results in your legs crossing. To avoid this slide your tracker further down, above the knee is the best spot. For me I can't stand the tracker there, it's most comfy wayyy up on my thighs for me so I just do a quick reset with my legs pointing out in front of me when I sit down. You could also try mounting your thigh trackers on the outside of your thighs to minimize it but I haven't tried that yet and probably won't since I lay on my side alot. Sometimes tracking funkiness isn't actually slime, it's your avatar or VRChat's IK! Alot of times I thoguht my tracking was wonky it was actually the IK of my avatar / VRChat or Chillout or whatever platform I was on. A quick check is to click your steam menu button so you can visually see your actual trackers. If they line up with your body but your avatar is doing something funky it's a problem with your avatar or VRChat's IK. Either due to differences in your avatar's body length proportions, or the way it's IK was set up. --- Welcome to slime! --- I've been in the slime community on and off for a few years, I started with 6 cell phones as my tackers for a few hundred hours before building a DIY beginner 6050 set, and now almost done building a BNO set of trackers. The community is fantastic and will help with any issues you run into, the software is always getting better, and it's just so fun to have full body, enjoy your trackers!
I'm so glad someone wrote this so I didn't have to since, for the longest time, I thought the problem was slimeVR until I finally learned that it was problems with the avatar. also, for the knee thigh trackers, I find there are some very slight benefits when it's closer to the knee, as you said, as well as having the slightest amount of movement toward the inner thigh instead of being straight on forward. One more thing I would like to add is if you do have feet trackers, getting that mounting position spot on is hard, and if you do get it wrong, sitting and lying down can be very bad.
ZRock you well.... rock, I have had my custom built slimes for a few months now and they never seemed to work right and I THOUGHT everything looked good in the software. my tracking in game was meh at best. I've done mounting resets over and over, even redid proportions a couple times(automatically; the documentation on manual is kind of vague in what each setting means), and it still feels very off. Looking in steam vr, the trackers don't actually line up to my body well at all, and even the best result I've gotten so far pretzels when sitting and has my chest sticking way out at all times, and still doesn't align correctly with my feet and hips(feet bend inward too much even with extensions flat on top as level as they can be, hip is too forward and will occasionally glitch left and right at an angle). If you have only 5 trackers (no hip) that is commonly what happens - I'd also recommend using default proportions to test things, since automatic proportions (the dance) can be tough to get right at first without practice!
Hi! Great tutorial! I've been trying for a while to get perfect tracking with slimevr and have a couple questions if you can help me out. 1. Where exactly do you put your hip tracker? On your belly button in front so flat, or in line with the top of your hip bone in front (slightly pitched if I've eaten). I'm worried that I will have issues because it is slightly pitched and if I breathe, it moves slightly. Is that an issue? 2. Is the chest tracker really supposed to be as high as you have it on your avatar? Like barely below the collar bone? I used to wear mine at the base of my sternum. 3. I do a lot of blender work for avatars. Did you change your avatars proportions to fit your irl proportions to get it to match so well? Thanks! ❤
Hello! I generally recommend putting the hip tracker as low as possible, within reason. You can also try it behind your back, and see if that works better for you. As for chest tracker being high, I found that that works better for accurate movement, and when it is placed too low (mid torso) it can act strangely when sitting down (belly will jut out more) I didn't change the proportions of the Deira at all, it just works super well for me - lucky, since I really found this to be my favorite!
Hey very cute avatar i wish i had it but i think u had it commissioned 😞 (Btw great vid😁) I just recently ordered slimevr trackers im new to them i got 5 trackers btw i got a question where should i put the fifth tracker on my chest or on my waist?
@ZRock35VR oh thanks so much your a great yt thanks so much for the info also got one more question is your avatar like base of a existing model and you edited a little if so can you try to teach me how you did it it's fine if not(Hope you have a fantastic day 😁)
I couldn’t figure out what was going on with my hip and chest tracker 🤦♀️🤦♀️. Yall I had it upside down 😭😂😂. I thought the extension went on my chest and the main one went on my hip 🤦♀️🤦♀️. I’m so heated with myself
Should Slime straps be skin tight? I am a plus-sized person with lots of flab on my arms and thighs and I'm not entirely sure how I can get the balance of "it won't keep spinning around" and "it won't cut off my circulation"
I'd advise looking into silicone backed straps (make sure you don't have a silicone allergy), they can help a lot to keep the straps from sliding around and let you not have to tighten them up too much!
Mine stay straight - the legs bending thing you are talking about happens with certain avatars that have long legs commonly, but the proportions may be off for you as well. Use default proportions to test this stuff at first ("Reset all proportions" button in the Manual Proportions part, stand when pressing it) If you are still having issues, join the SlimeVR discord and ask for more advice in the #calibration channel, hopefully that can be fixed!
i have a question, so i have 7+3 trackers but idk how to enable the steam vr because i play on pc vr im confused by it and i got my trackers yesterday can you help explain how please?
You have to have SteamVR installed, then install the SlimeVR server - when you turn on your headset and connect to SteamVR, the headset and controllers should show up in SlimeVR, and from there you can just follow the guide!
Thanks this helps a lot! Does the automatic mounting calibration save a more accurate position than the 8 postions (front, front-left, left etc) found in the manual calibration?
For VR, you use the headset - for Mocap or VTubing, it's possible to use a Slime tracker as "head" and do mocap mode, which lets you walk around freely in the scenes!
I usually would say Go-Pro chest harness, but for more comfort, there's "Chesty" chest mounts that use softer material but still provide excellent stability! To mount the tracker on it, you can use velcro straps or good tape even. There's also 3D printer designs the community has made for backing plates with the clip built in that are made for official slimes, which are cool.
Try looking up "Chesty" chest mounts, they are like the Amazon Go-Pro chest harness but specially built with softer neoprene instead of a hard plastic backplate!
Do you have to connect with 2.4ghz wifi? Only way my quest pro controllers don't constantly disconnect is by turning off the 2.4ghz radio on my wifi router.
good to know that i’ve been doing the calibration completely wrong. someone needs to animate the calibration screen. (and it would be so easy because mocap???)
I actually have made the animation using a robot avatar, it'll be included in an upcoming Server update! Butterscotch did some fancy compression to it, as well.
Try joining up at an event or pinging me on the discord server, it's a non-random process but it can help to have someone who knows how to do it show you
honey, wake up, another calibration tutorial just dropped

@ZRock35VR oh thanks so much your a great yt thanks so much for the info also got one more question is your avatar like base of a existing model and you edited a little if so can you try to teach me how you did it it's fine if not(Hope you have a fantastic day 😁)
Where can i find the right go pro harness to use for the chest tracker?
I find that hip tilt is my most common enemy. Any tips on how to correct it?
thanks man big help
Just made my gf a set and were having issues with the leg not going where it should hope it's a mounting calibration issue hope this fixes it
I couldn’t figure out what was going on with my hip and chest tracker 🤦♀️🤦♀️. Yall I had it upside down 😭😂😂. I thought the extension went on my chest and the main one went on my hip 🤦♀️🤦♀️. I’m so heated with myself
i was wondering, what harness do you use for the chest tracker, cause i dont wanna accidentally buy one and then not be able to attach it
Should Slime straps be skin tight? I am a plus-sized person with lots of flab on my arms and thighs and I'm not entirely sure how I can get the balance of "it won't keep spinning around" and "it won't cut off my circulation"
I'd advise looking into silicone backed straps (make sure you don't have a silicone allergy), they can help a lot to keep the straps from sliding around and let you not have to tighten them up too much!
When u bend over and keep the legs straight do your legs bend? is there a way to fix that?
Mine stay straight - the legs bending thing you are talking about happens with certain avatars that have long legs commonly, but the proportions may be off for you as well. Use default proportions to test this stuff at first ("Reset all proportions" button in the Manual Proportions part, stand when pressing it)
If you are still having issues, join the SlimeVR discord and ask for more advice in the #calibration channel, hopefully that can be fixed!
@ ok i'll try this next thanks for responding!!
Hey ZRock where did you get that chest Tracker harness from?
Amazon basics go-pro chest harness - it's like 10 USD, well worth it (get stickyback velcro tape to fasten it on)
absolutely mind boggling how bad the documentation is, thank you for the video
so how do you install Slime vr in the quest 2?
I have a Standalone video guide, in the Tutorials playlist for that!
i have a question, so i have 7+3 trackers but idk how to enable the steam vr because i play on pc vr im confused by it and i got my trackers yesterday can you help explain how please?
You have to have SteamVR installed, then install the SlimeVR server - when you turn on your headset and connect to SteamVR, the headset and controllers should show up in SlimeVR, and from there you can just follow the guide!
Thanks this helps a lot! Does the automatic mounting calibration save a more accurate position than the 8 postions (front, front-left, left etc) found in the manual calibration?
Yep, in fact you can see that automatic mounting calibration will "override" the defaults, if you do it and then click on and look at the tracker!
Wait… what’s the head tracker-? The headset? Mine isnt in the slime vr thing…
For VR, you use the headset - for Mocap or VTubing, it's possible to use a Slime tracker as "head" and do mocap mode, which lets you walk around freely in the scenes!
Love it
What harness do you recommend to stabilize the chest tracker more?
I usually would say Go-Pro chest harness, but for more comfort, there's "Chesty" chest mounts that use softer material but still provide excellent stability! To mount the tracker on it, you can use velcro straps or good tape even. There's also 3D printer designs the community has made for backing plates with the clip built in that are made for official slimes, which are cool.
@@ZRock35VR can ya send me a link to those “chesty” ones?
where is that chest strap from, i need a link D: the single strap is so uncomfy if youre a woman
Try looking up "Chesty" chest mounts, they are like the Amazon Go-Pro chest harness but specially built with softer neoprene instead of a hard plastic backplate!
Do you have to connect with 2.4ghz wifi? Only way my quest pro controllers don't constantly disconnect is by turning off the 2.4ghz radio on my wifi router.
yeah im pretty sure they can only do 2.4ghz
Gah Tracking with added elbows look so good !! ... Fine i get my spare parts out and finish it finally so i have 8 slimey's ^^
good to know that i’ve been doing the calibration completely wrong. someone needs to animate the calibration screen. (and it would be so easy because mocap???)
I actually have made the animation using a robot avatar, it'll be included in an upcoming Server update! Butterscotch did some fancy compression to it, as well.
I have a problem where my right leg kicks to the left instead of forward can anyone help me? My left leg kicks forward just fine but the right is off
it never connects through USB.
turn them on?
very good
where did you get the chest tracking harness?
Amazon had the one I bought, "Amazon Basics Go-Pro Chest Harness" for about $10 USD
Now, you just need to package this for streaming somewhere that will generate sponsors and ad revenue without the TH-cam requirements.
Real
still hasn't worked for me
Try joining up at an event or pinging me on the discord server, it's a non-random process but it can help to have someone who knows how to do it show you
@@ZRock35VR need guidance, not a crowd gawking, so i'll more than likely do the latter
how to do it on quest 3
👍👋👏
cant belive i been doing it wrong XDDD
Yee
Just annoying music.
I often recommend playing your own when watching!
@@ZRock35VR I listen to videos on my headphones while working. Every once in a while, I end up on one that's just music, unfortunately.
