    I was just having this problem last week. I'm so glad I came across this video! I was working with a thin, slightly stiff leather and was getting marks on the top and bottom. I did loosen the top pressure, but not as much as you did, so I will loosen it some more. For the underside, my husband suggested that maybe I should buy another set of feed dogs just for leather, and he could grind them down a little bit to see if that helped. I've never had these problems before, I think some leathers are just more easily marked than others.

    Wow, this was a great video. I am having the exact issue on my DNU 1541S, Can you do a video on adjusting the pressure on it?

    You should check and demo this using a shiny vinyl and a thick vinyl with the flannel type backing.... as used for handbags.

    Some people use a layer of parchment paper under their workpiece if the bottom is being damaged by the bottom feed dogs. It would probably work on the top as well, although it might be hard to see what you're doing. It supposedly pulls away quite easily.

    Thanks for the info, would you leave the pressure at where you have set it, or is there a way of returning it to the original setting

    I don't know if my problem is presser foot. I am sewing webbing nylon strapping onto a lightweight indoor outdoor fabric. The fabric puckers underneath the strap. How to make it smooth? Thank you for your knowledge.

    Right now I’m looking around to see how to solve my problem. Mine just marks and eats out the vinyl I’m using.

    Hi There, I have a Juki 1541 S and i looked at the back of the maschine for a nut to see if the outer foot can be adjusted.. I think i found it , and am testing it out. Can you do a video on the settings of this on the Juki 1541? Many thanks for your helpful videos.

    Steve, am trying this, however, the outside foor ( black adjustment) won’t budge. How can I loosen it? Also, can the feed dogs be adjusted as well? If so, how?

    I have been this problem with marks but my leather is thicker. I was looking for a Teflon foot for this machine to solve my problem but I may try to reduce mine.

      Unfortunately I have never seen a Teflon foot for this type of walking foot machine.

      Perhaps a leather foot which has a smooth bottom would solve the problem

    Would you do a video for the 1541? It looks like there is only one piece to loosen for both feet unless I’m missing something. My zipper foot is real tight for the ridges drag. Thanks!!

    Hi Steve, Could you please show how to fix if the feed dogs are making the markings on the backside/bottom of the leather. Thank you.

    • @Sewinggold
      @Sewinggold  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is tough and depends on the leather too. Feed dog marks are very difficult to eliminate completely. Sorry. That does not answer your question.
