Dion sounds good, plus back in the sixties Dion sang the “Wanderer “...appropriate for the Simpson desert !!
I've just built the baddest drz400sm ever built for a dessert run. From tusk panniers, safari tank, tires upgrade, pegs, headlight, rear rack, concepts seat, engine skid plate, case savers, different gearing 15/39 for some hwy too, 3x3, carb jetting, upgraded fender, rear fender eliminator, Yoshimura full exhaust, upgraded head light, rotopax fuel pack, lithium ion battery, usb charging ports, windscreen, heavy duty chain, performance clutch and man the list goes on. Im starting a youtube channel for the trip doing a 4k mile trip down in Mexico from Arizona, wish I could've gotten some discounts from sponsors or something lmao it gets quite expensive especially for a normal income mechanic 🤣 anyway it's been a dream of mine to do this trip and I hope the beast holds up,
Dion gets my vote. Looking good guys. Just a small point, when tightening the sprocket bolts you should go in a star pattern, not 1,2,3..... That way you ensure its sitting dead flat.
Hey Presto! Is a pretty common phrase in the U.K. Lovin the video, keep em coming.
Dude in Queensland got that tank on with standard Suzuki radiator guards on by himself.. bit of a head fuck but can be done.. going to try myself in 3 weeks... fingers crossed..
Can’t wait to see the B&B factory. Australian institution! I don’t know about social media but a small view into how they operate will be awesome guys. It is the best stuff and awesome to help promote that globally
Love to watch your "fiddly" videos Mark!.....it feels like I'm sitting right there watchin' you fellas...bloody brilliant!!...cheers from Canada, eh?!
Bike looks fantastic in yellow!
A line from the Wander song is..".I''m the type of guy that likes to roam around.".. so I reckon Dion sounds good . Really cool to see you two working together on a great looking bike .
The tank should fit no problem with the new guards and without the straps, just fidly to get the bolts in and don’t forget to buy a long socket to carry with you to get the tank off
" Presto " we say it in the USA. I knew what you meant. Great video thank for your hard work!
New subscriber, just purchased a new DRZ400E
I like the full floater stickers.
Daughter has a DRZ and she named it Kevin after the minions!
Stormin normin.... ready for the desert storm.
A look into BNB's manufacturing is a really good video idea , keen on seeing it in the future .
Thanks Mark & Chappie.
That's a beaut looking machine.
I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product on the tracks.
Regards from S Africa
Clive
Firstly good on you B&B Offroad for jumping on board. Your guys stuff is great.
D10N sounds great to me but I too am a machine operator. Should get some stickers made that match the cat D10N but scaled down for the bike.
What ever the name keep up the great work guys loving this build.
Glad we have a happy Chappy!😂 Good looking DRZ.
D10N sounds good to me , awesome upgrades good work Chappy & Mark keep on keeping on cheers Mick 😎👍👍
I'd like to see how your garage is set up so i can start cleaning my garage up and start getting it sorted out. Thanks for all the inspiration!
On my DRZ400E I used to run 14T/50T on the dirt and 15T/39T for all the Highway work... BUT I needed 2 Chains. I also cut all the down tubes from the carby, and I put T pieces in and run extra hoses along the top part of the frame and the rest stay in their original position to allow for over flow, it becomes a river crossing beast. Think I might build another DRZ after watching you guys build this one... If you haven’t already done it take the stand switch off and bridge the wires otherwise it will put you over the handle bars on rough stuff...👍👍👍👍
Yeah already done (the kickstand)
That’s great B&B off road are supporting the channel, good on them! I’ll definitely be buying some stuff off them in the future 👍🏼
Great video Mark and Chappy! The DRZ is looking great! "Bumble?" Chappy, are you upgrading your front and rear suspension for extra weight? Great mention to Pete - "Bones!" Winner! 👍🤣
He might down the track! :-)
b&b radiator guards are the ones that need modification to fit. the ratchet strap is only necessary if you do it by yourself and don't have someone to push down on top off the tank to compress the new foam. my safari tank went on easily with the suzuki guards as i'd already fitted them with the stock tank and everything was aligned already. and after the safari tank has been on for a little while and the foam compressed it goes straight on no hassle.
Thanks good to know! :-)
@@BikerBits i use a 1/4 drive wobble extension with 8mm single hex socket and i keep it in my tool kit on the bike. it's easiest to get the left side started first it's the hardest side because of the radiator hose. once you get the left side done you an pull down on the tank to line the right side up.
D10N sounds perfect, love the bike chappy with the safari tank
OK.. So what you need to do is bend the Suzuki radiator guards on the small backside bend where the triangle brackets bolt on outwards on a vice so they match up with the tank holes before anything... They will line up without doing this with a offset forward by 10 mm... bend them out so the hole lines up first and leave the front two bolts also loose but in the thread... Do this instead of fighting the guards outwards the get the holes to line up when the tank is in place... put the tank on and guarantee all the holes will line up.. also if you put a piece of plastic or two over your socket when you put you bolt into it ,, it will hold the bolt in the socket..
Nice one Mark, That's 1 nice looking bike now. I'd say someone is a 'Happy Chappie'!! Ha.
I knew what you meant with 'Hey Presto'. Dion wins for me, Reminds me of the mustard, which is Yellow as well!! Or 'Dijon'.
Look forward to the next video.
Awrabesht guys. 😉👍
safari tanks fit fine with the suzuki/force radiator guards with the braces and all.
Good honest shed mechanics, luv the real world stuff, great job.
Great bike the DRZ, I had one, absolute bullet proof, I called mine The Doctor.
Dion will need those guards Mark Should be a fairly quick job unless you got large hands like me. Got my Bro to do mine and with his smaller hands it was done in about 15 mins. Fiddley job just persevere fella.
Dion's a beauty mate.
D10N is a great name, although when I first saw Chappies bike in yellow, I thought Tweety Pie lol, great work you guys.
If you put a lower seat on, such as Seat Concepts, the David Knight lower foot pegs are a nice touch to ease the knee bend. That’s what I did.
HAPPY CHAPPY
Well done Chappy and Mark, what an efforts, however the best part is to know its all going to work as it should. Safe travels....Thanks for sharing this video as its a learning thing....good to know how and why.... cheers....
😳Star pattern boys! Cmon!
And I always loosen and tighten those by holding the hex and putting the torque on the nuts. I never put that much force on those hex bolts.
@@mmaaddict78 yep lucky they were new, undo the nuts the socket head is only to stop them spinning when loose.
Great series. Keep em coming. Hopefully we will see the bike out in action and follow its development. Thanks guys .
Priscilla - Queen of the desert
good video chappies bike still got the original factory tyres.
Yep!
Dion sounds good, Scorpion could work too, considering it's a desert weapon!
Top stuff i reckon Dion is rather original hay, I also had dramas fitting my 15l safari tank on my WR450, wouldn't go on with the Rad guards and brace, made to fit with the stock Rad louvers, B&B are a bloody awesome Australian company Australian made for Australian conditions=Bloody tough stuff. :)
Good name Dion!! Going to be great out there in the Simpson! The Gravel Badger (my bike/me) will be undergoing some surgery soon too! (Might as well, can’t ride anywhere anyway) Just moved house so will be setting up my man cave/workshop in a bit..
Great to hear mate! :-)
Mark one side of the tank will rub . You know the sticky round felt stiff you stick under furniture legs? Yeah that stuff stick it under the tank where it rubs
Great video Mark and Chappie! I think D10N is a winner, The only thing I hate about these videos is it reminds me of the big pile of parts awaiting DR650 mods that I yet to do, and I end up ordering more stuff! Love the world of dual sports, now if you could get someone to buy a TT700 and do a build series on that bike.
Hey presto, slam dunk, done deal, in like Flinn all spoken here in the US for my 73 years. Always tighten and loosen a bolt nut combination using the nut, you will strip a bolt allen or torx fitting by tightening by twisting the bolt. It cost me shipping but I have B&B on all my scooters, their stuff is that good. Dion the wanderer or digger for the Aussie WW1 troops either one great.
nice lookin dr almost new by looks + the fun off motorcycle manipulations faunications DBTF ...
Nice to work on new bikes
Enjoying the build great work fellows.
I am in the US and I use the word presto. Dion sounds good to me also.
I'd like to see a update video on your CT90. Mad Max, i think ya called it. Explaining all the modifications done. I've a '73 Mars Orange Honda CT90 with 3306 miles on it back in May. I've been riding all summer and replacing parts. Stored new parts for this winter project.
Nice Suzuki drz 400! Thats Saweet!!👍👀
Still havent seen my Facebook message :( would be great to bring the DR out for a ride with use.
Good stuff Chappy & Mark, making quick work of this build and keen to see it smashing through the tracks.
Keep up the vids!
Digger- after the Anzacs ...
I got the same flasher relay off wish for 7 bucks for my bandit 1250. Much to my suprise its still working after 3 years.
In Canada, I have heard Presto Change-o but makes sense either way.
Love these vids Mark, when you working on bikes. More please!!
We enjoyed the D10N build would like to see more!
didnt suzuki say those rad guards would still fit with a safari tank?. bike looks good with the tank on.
Great video, enjoyed that, Dion is the one for me.
Hi, it's good to find some blokes doing exactly what I was planning to do with a DRZ 👍
Will it comfortably cruise on 100-110kph now?
Also did this sacrifice much off-road performance/power wheelie potential?
Yes and no problem off-road! :-)
@@BikerBits Wicked. I had a Drz years ago. It didn't miss a beat! I sense the previous owner changed the gearing, as I used to ride to the any bush on road without issue.
Now leaning towards the odd getaway to somewhere different and selling the 200 2 stroke.
Great video guys, well done, bike looks good!
Happy Chappy!!
So you did have to change to b&b radiator covers to make it fit..?
I used the b and b had to cut off the side fins and didn't use the rear braces. Hey presto Safari tank and radiator guards.
That’s a ripper of a flanny if I’ve ever get seen one. Looks like it’s from Aldi how good
How was the speed adjustment at highway speeds. Did it lower thr revs when doing 100km?
hope he is planning on adding the kit starter kit too it, so he has both electric and kickstart option!
Nice one fellas....
Nice video. I had the 28L translucent tank on my DRZ400. With the stock tank I could never time my fuel ups with the cheaper petrol days. With the big tank I could wait till the next week. The big tank guarded the radiators from the side. I don't know how many times, at a stop light, people would ask, "Mate, Is that your petrol?" What else would it be.
yep
B&B radiator guards fit with the Safari tanks
Are you able to see the fuel level through the outside of the yellow tank at all?
No!
Great series of vids, much appreciated. I’m about to fit a 17 litre Safari tank to my 2018 DRZ. Did you end up fitting it with the Suzuki radiator guards?
Chain? With the smaller rear sprocket I see there isn’t much adjustment left?
Does it need a link taken out of the chain so when everything wears there is plenty of adjustment to tighten the chain.
No need yet! :-)
Mr. D10N Dozer sounds great and Chappy needs to please stop talking so much and trying to get all the camera time. Damn does that guy ever stop. All kidding aside, Dion Dozer is turning into a fantastic trail bike, I love it, and B&B Off-Road, your parts are legend all the way to the Mohave Desert where I ride and it shows a lot of class that you would help out your countryman. Thanks again Mark!!! Long Live Australia Stuff the lockdown. that's enuff Cheers from Tim in Arizona
Be good to re-route the breather hose while you have the tank off like you mentioned in 1st episode.
Looks good but would the light “reheat” the polycarbonate and it goes back to flat?
No not enough heat generated to do that! :-)
Give you tip You should put foam pads the shape of your tools in your toolbox so it’s organise
Digga, Dune, Sim-o, D10N, Basil 2, Dusty, Tracker, Suzie, Blade, Scoop.
Nice! :-)
Maybe think about installing the fan.
Dion the Wanderer 🤙🏽
What anti seize do you use.
Digger sounds good👌
If you want to get rid of them radiator covers I have for my DRZ400E
I use the word presto. Buck from Idaho, USA.
Digger mate!!! Lol, love my ozy mc brothers.
Caught me by surprise a posting on a Sunday.
Especially this late. I’m up for at least another hour now lol.
Andrew Hodges I’m watching the Moto GP.
Top job as usual...👍
I just looked at ordering that same gas tank. Wow, they want $1050 CAD shipped to my door. For some perspective, I paid $3400 for my gently used DRZ400S.
Hey mate, the 15/44 combo, did you use the original chain , also looking great, im going for pretty much identical set up but translucent tank and seat concept xl seat, can't wait for the next vid, keep up the good work 👍🍻
Yep still the original chain! :-)
Do you need the guards when the wings of the tank are already protecting it? ....Just saying that unless you are going into a hail of gun fire i think you'll be right.
Pooks could see that you were going to have trouble with the radiator guards ,thus the worried look on her face.
It’s big & yellow, how about Big Bird? Or if it’s a big yellow tractor, well that’s a Chamberlin, and you are heading out into the desert, Azaria?
Simpson weapon?...Bart works for me😊
Clive Parsons excellent choice
can you trim the top of radiator guards up to fit
Not sure... Possible! :-)
use a 1mm cutting disc on your grinder from your favorite hardware store .
my usb and sat nav mount have no switchs, and it still starts after 3 months ..
Hi from french part of Canada .I think CELINE DION would sound great.....
Nooooooooooooo!
What indicators are you running?
Ballard's off-road indicators
Brighter than Cat yellow but I like D10N. I'm trying to come up with a good one for my DR in the USA (california). Miss Piggy?, When Pigs Fly (with a flying pig)? Bush Piggy? BBQ piggy?
Where did Chappy get the ignition relocation plate from?
It just the original one! :-)
