Ha, I remember when my friends and I drilled into the bottom of my Thunderhawk - we used 1" acrylic rod, and it was nervewracking drilling THAT big a hole into something this expensive (and already painted, like yours is!). This turned out great, though, and will absolutely make a difference in your ability to fit it on the table. Well done!
Word to the wise - watch the wing span during your games. We've had a few close calls with the wings getting snagged on shirt sleeves, etc. while it's close to the edge (even without the wings hanging over the table's edge, which is of course not allowed). The base (custom made, incorporating a weight off of a dumbell) plus the weight of the Thunderhawk is heavy enough that it only caused the jet to pivot on the rod, but if it tips over... yeah.

I like how this is the "old" design with the front Heavy Bolters like that. The new one, I get why, doesn't look as "Assault" carrier as this one does.
