I painted one back in 2004 it was a nightmare and very few of the parts fit the way it should. Hopefully you have a better time than I did.

I think it was on your latest rumour video where you claimed plastic Horus Heresy was coming? Tbh I can't remember where I heard it but if you go to GW website and search for something, for example "space marine", along the top banner will be "Horus Heresy. I've not been clued in to the hobby for while so maybe this doesn't matter but I'm not sure why else they'd have a Horus Heresy section on the GW site if the HH is usually kept on FW.

@@SlatheTheSpaceMarine I know the picture well, it was originally taken from a Games Day display, and was also posted in White Dwarf, which is where I saw it. To be also fair, most 40k nuts from the the 90's wanted a Thunderhawk after seeing those pictures lol
I still hold that you should make it Black Templar, so the Thunderhawk is the shield to the Stormbirds Sword. Or Fist, as it were.
This model is a dream of mine since the full metal Thunderhawk was released years ago

I got a a Manta... I know its a significantly older model, but it was a frigging NIGHTMARE. I needed help to build the thing, and my buddy described it more like assembling furniture then a model.
This purchase was totally necessary. I don't know how you've survived so long without this!

This, is one of my biggest whishes. Reeaaaaly want to buy a Thunderhawk too, but i cannot afford it unfortunately.
BUT NOW I CAN PROUDLY SAY:
I was there when you bought and unboxed the Stormbird and the Thunderhawk.
Forgeworld needs to release more large space marine models, so we can bully Valrak to buy something new!
If you need a few tips painting either Thunderhawk or the Stormbird, I would recommend Plasmo, he does wonders with his scale models.

I think it might be due to the Stormbird being an older mould and the Thunderhawk might have been renewed not too long ago.

Nice addition. I just started my Slaanesh Astartes Warband, so it will be years before I get a Thunderhawk, but you have to admit...it was time for you to get one, congrats and enjoy!

Oh man I’ve always, always wanted a thunder hawk. Even when the first METAL kit came out in the mid 90’s but I’ve never been able to afford it. Please do it justice Valrak and make it look amazing either as a Fist or Templar

It's rather understandable - it will be easier to field a Thunderhawk rather than Stormbird in games, so yeah... Still the Sokkar-Stoembird looks so cool :)

You think the Stormbird instructions are bad? You should see the Proteus Land Raider instructions... They're the FW equivalent of paint a circle, now paint an owl - complete with grainy monochromatic photos.

Have you seen the last church movie? Some guy named Tyber Portoghese just out of the blue released a feature length animation adaptation of the last church, highly recommend you check it out, the voice acting and storytelling is insane!
I really like the newer thunderhawk but the iconic wings on the back tail has me shopping for the older one. Almost everything on the newer i like more but that back tail is a deal breaker

I got the Falchion a while back and it almost made me give up on Forge World. It was awful. Lots of flash, super thin molds and warped. I got an astraeus and a war hound and they were amazing.

I would genuinely pay another 5-10% on top of FW prices if they offered a service to clear all the flash and everything off and do a full wash of your purchases, its such a headache to do!

Wow, that's cool. But it looks like it is going to be so, so complicated to assemble.
The thunderhawks are fairly straight forward actually.
The biggest obstacles lie in washing off release agent from all the corners, straightening any warped pieces while repeatedly dry fitting, then gentle trimming and sanding/filing and using greenstuff to seal gaps and bubble indents.
And not smudging the acrylic window panes with glue...
So you say you were bullied into this? What would you say if you got a warlord Titan so I could watch that unboxing video. Based on miniwargamings experience. That could be fun :)
I heard that all the sold out units on forge world site is because they are getting updated to plastic. I do want to say i was able to get a used gene one thunderhawk pretty cheap. But if this thing goes plastic wonder what the $$$$ ill be.

I got a titan from FW years ago, the quality wasn't great and the instructions were terrible. Put me off FW models for a long time. Nice to see how the quality of molding and the instructions has changed.
What type of Titan did you get? My friend wants to start a Titan Legion, should he rethink it?
@@DBSG1976 Looking at FW's store they are not selling the Lucius Pattern body that I had.
I got a pair of turbolasers for it and they were really distorted and needed a lot of work.
I can't honestly say if the quality has improved for their titans, I hope so!
@@asimplekraken1318 Thanks! He has the cash, but I will probably advise him to start small because he wants to start with an Imperial Titan right away. He has a huge Mechanicus Army and wants to expand it...thanks for the heads up!

Newer kit. Newer molds. Loss of detail can come over time with worn molds or a few other reasons. Same with lego tbh.
