Take the turret off and add a wheel at the back and it's Mark I tank from WW1. This Lemon Russ is longer so it doesn't look as bad. Oh Also the turret is more centralized unlike the LR which looked very forward heavy so it's centre of gravity would make it a very unstable platform.

That looks like an absolute blunt brute of a tank - a brawler with guns for days and the 'angry armoured box' aesthetic of the Guard maintained very nicely. All in all, I love it.

Not like ww2 when new tanks were developed every year or so and making previous ones obsolete. However finding a fragment of a STC with a new or lost design makes sense.
I love this tank! The Leman Russ is an iconic 40k unit, but it always had one foot still in that old 40k era where things were cartoonish and toy-like. The Rogal Dorn looks a lot more plausible, while still being every bit as over the top as you'd expect from a 40k unit.
I play this game more ore les since 3rd edition. Wanted to start at 2nd but missed it. So yep I guess I have too much nostalgia for tanks that looked more to actual tank. Not the actual gunfest that GW create this days...

Makes sense that Dorn would need a special kind of tank to come even close to rivalling Perturabo’s superior siege skills, in fact Perturabo’s superiority in all things.
All it takes to get valrak playing your faction is to name a unit after the Praetorian himself ;) The tank is really cool. I’m still not sure how I feel about such a standard tank being part of the range, because that’s what the bane blade is for, but it’s got those distinctive treads that save it for me.
Its unfortunate they didn't do a side by side with a leman russ. To be honest the tank really looks like a new concept to the guard line which is a bummer. Maybe the tank will grow on me but I really love the leman russ line.
I’m just pleased that this one of the few Imperial Guard tanks that have actual suspension. The Leman Russ and Chimeras and their variants with the skirts that come all the way to the ground would have real difficulty crossing rough terrain. It is nice to have a turret large enough to have more than a single man fit in it and also not castrate the commander when the main gun fires. I also wish that the track sponsons were a little shorter just so the bow gun would have a greater arc of fire but that’s just nit picking. Overall I really like the look, it’s like it’s midway between a Russ and a Macharius/Baneblade.

It looks like they crossed a bit of a Sherman, MK4 and Tiger into one big tank which looks amazing. Wish the tracks were a bit more covered and also hoping it comes with a big bulldozer blade so it can at least nod to the bulwark of a Primarch that Rogal Dorn is. Would love to see this painted up in Imperial Fists colour scheme
I love that we’re getting all these new weapons vehicles and figures from the heresy and modern day. Always wanted to see what they referenced in lore, what it looked like. Plus, if u wanted to, u could say that both the lemun russ tank and this one suite the characters of the primarchs they’re named after

Other than the odd placement of the crew served heavy stubber on the turret and bizarre platform the gunner is standing on, it’s a real good looking model.
The Imperial Guard has a Sherman now. Beloved Emperor, I cannot wait when the best primarch of all, Lion El'Jonson comes back and they make a Imperial guard Leopard.
I love the machine gunner on the back of the turret, a really nice nod to the Sherman tanks shown in the band of brothers tv series.. Orks cant wait to loot this dakka wagon.
I remember when they updated the Leman Russ --- and you used to get a full set of roadwheels in it and the original 2nd-edition rules in the box. They were so good for conversions. I always assumed they gave an incredibly hard ride to the crews.
Sanguinius tank: Has wings. The Khan tank: Moves faster than sound. Alpharius and Omegon tanks: Are Alpharius or Omegon plus stealth. Corvus Tank: Raven with knifes plus invisible. Konrad Tank: Made of Flesh with a scary face.
I really like the Rogal Dorn, but I think the Baneblade, Kratos, and Sicarian are still my favorite tanks at the moment. I like how their hulls slope back towards the gun, giving a vaguely scorpion-esque profile. That said, I also really, really like the double gun loadout, and I especially like all of the detailing bits like wrenches and crew minis on the Dorn. They make it look like a tank people have actually been working with on their missions. It would be great if those all came on a separate sprue that could be sold as a new add-on pack for other tanks.
As someone who's been a self-confessed Tank nerd, I have mixed feelings. I think the designers had the British Matilda II tank in mind when they designed it, then made it huge, sci-fi'd it and added loads of guns. It's cool but the turret is probably too small for the weapons that it has (i.e. room for the crew to load effectively with rounds close to hand etc) you can see this by side view alone. This isn't new for 40k Tanks so, in the end, it doesn't matter, the rule of cool will prevail.
Reminds me of the British Centurion tank that was introduced immediately after World War II in 1946. Size wise I'm guessing it's bigger than a Leman Russ but smaller than a Baneblade. Either way it looks absolutely incredible.
The model is great, I'm going to recreate it in Inventor and Meshmixer, then 3d print it. That way I get the model and GW does not get the money, so it's the only right option. Until they lift the ban on fan content , they will not get a SINGLE Eurocent from me.

The guy on the turret? That's actually fairly realistic for a tank running more guns on the roof than their is space in the turret. If you have a general idea where the enemy is & you can't have the mg gunner standing in the turret on the main gunners head than behind the turrets probably the safest

Now the imperial guard have 3 different tanks to choose from if they want something heavier than the Leman Russ but can't afford a Baneblade. The Malcador, The Macharius and now this.

This is great, guard have needed a heavy tank for ages, something between the 'medium' Leman Russ and the super heavy Baneblade Wish it had been a plastic macharius though... But this fills the role nicely
Not a fan of the nipple guns on the upper hull. But bar that it looks good, if they update the turret of the russ to have it look like you could get a actual crew into it instead of a one man and 2 children turret (cmdr, gunr, loadr)
The design change is similar to the Land Raider/Repulsor switch. Going from old to "modern" is definitely something I can get behind. Big tank = Good tank

There is also a slight KV-1 vibe with M6 elements - a nice model in deed :)

This is actually pretty big considering how wide use the Leman Russ is, the Rogal Dorn MBT will probably be just as layered in in the next decade
