The rod only moved a fraction and was basically locked up 1/2 way across inside box.
Just left it where it was, plugged in the actuator without installing.
Then turned truck on and could hear the actuator move.
Turned the dial to 4hi and heard the actuator move and immediately turned the truck off, freezing the actuator in what ever position the 4hi was.
Unplugged the actuator, flipped it right side up and installed.
Started my truck and it immediately went into 4hi.
Switched it back and forth from 4hi to 2hi and everything seemed working fine.
Went on drive and did same to make sure all was good.
This vid helped but just couldn’t get the timing set.
Spent hours messing with the actuator gears and re-installing probably 8-9 times.
Was about to give up until I tried Putting it into 4hi instead of 2 hi to get the actuator gears timed right.
    Worked immediately

You literally saved my life with your timing trick. Thank you so much. If you don’t get the timing right your truck won’t be able to drive.

Great video! Do one for your horn setup- that looks pretty slick.

This exact method didnt work for me, but led me in the direction that did.
I tried for several hours to get the timing set correct on the new actuator and was about to give up.
I noticed that the rod was out just over 1/2 way and would only jiggle a little.
I certainly couldn’t move it back or forward but according to everywhere I looked, the rod pushed all the way back is 2W and forward is 4hi.
My truck runs fine in 2W but wont engage 4hi.
So I did what you did in this video by plugging the actuator in but not installing it.
Turned the key to aux and flipped the lever to 4hi.
The actuator moved into place and I immediately turned the car off keeping the actuator from moving anymore.
Went underneath, carefully unplugged it, flipped it around and installed it very carefully to keep everything as it is.
Plugged it back in and then turned truck to aux.
The 4hi came on immediately and stayed on.
Turned it to 2W and the 4hi light went out.
Could hear the actuator motor engage each time.
Then started the truck and repeated everything.
Then drove down the road and repeated everything.
Engaged and disengaged perfectly with no hiccups.
So if the steel crankshaft rod is 1/2 way out and basically wont move much either direction, try this method and maybe get lucky like me.
I did try putting the truck in neutral to see if the rod would move but no luck on that.
    Good luck !!!

Can you clarify the steps. Did you pull the rod out to put it into 4wd and then also clocked the actuator to 4wd? Then you reassembled, turned on the truck (in 4hi) and then switched to 2wd allowing the actuator to reset into the position with pushing in the rod to do so.

Awesome vid man. 1 question. To set the actuated back to 2hi you turn the key to accessory. But my truck is stuck in 4 hi so would I do the accessory with the switch in 4hi??

@@carlosaircraftmechxnic2819 still haven't gotten to it...found a coolant leak, traced it to the water pump so been tackling that job. The actuator for 4wd is hopefully next!

Take those train horns out of there. Don’t be one of those tools.
