  • I check out Aburi in the Eastern Region of Ghana as it was on my hit list of places to check out land to build my dream house on. I absolutely LOVED Aburi and its defiantly solidly on my list for potential places to build a house in Ghana.

Ghanaian authorities should protect this area of Ghana before they lose all our forest and greenery.
Soon there will be no rains in Ghana, with the continuous deforestation in the name of development.
Government and chiefs in Aburi should protect this beautiful mountains and land.

There’s something called living in harmony with the environment. Blanket rules and laws that prevent people from building their homes is the wrong approach and stifles development. The government and chiefs could come up with protected areas but allow people to build their homes in other approved areas as well.

@@dadoboye1536 Totally, but is that being done, African governments are rarely proactive but more so reactionary or absent, they wait until a problem is out of control instead of applying foresight in the midst of development. Are they even involved? The real estate agent says it is the responsibility of the buyers to pitch in to build roads as if that should not be integrated in the developers plan with the approbation of the local government. Are only house owners driving on these roads?

The fact is land in Ghana is owned by Chiefs and Families. The government can however acquire land anywhere it chooses for national development, but has to pay compensation to the land owners.

Please kindly do a Documentary on Deforestation and Climate Change due to massive developments without environment concerns being addressed. Do a Comprehensive Interview with the District Assembly Building Permits, the Minister of Roads, Interior and Forestry to find out what their policies and enforcement is to address the Climate Change, deforestation, loss of many Birds Species, Rockfalls and lost of trees and potential flooding due to development of concrete walls around houses causing erosion and flooding downstream.
Is the Building Permit enforcing the submission of Hydrogeologic Survey, Geotechnical, Geophysical Analytical Sampling and Reports for Building Permits? Are Trees Planting Being Request as condition for any development? And finally prohibition of walls around houses?
The Mountains and Agricultural lands are being destroyed massively. Stop this before it is too late.

@Vanessa Kanbi, thank you for the videos. As you may have noticed in the comments, there is a lot of concern for the environment amidst all these developments. There doesn't seem to be much planning or direction in the land transactions. Please gather some information on these issues, and highlight them for your viewers and also to allow informed decision-making by prospective residents of the lands. As it happens often, local or regional governments would only move to enact environmental protection after being put on the spot. Although this may be out of your domain, I would advise nudging the sellers of these lands to foster environmental sustainability in their business and push the leaders in the area to be constructively involved. We've all witnessed the rapid and irreversible degradation that happens all over the continent when unplanned developments take root. The plots you showed have a great potential to sustain a beautiful community, but this dream risks becoming another painful reminder of how we are racing to construct unlivable communities.

Please start a massive youth group to plant trees and fight to protect the forest and exotic birds, animals and the agricultural farming lands. Any building must have 30% for open fields and trees/forest. All building permits must require geotechnical sampling reports and no walls around houses and plant 10 trees for any shrub or tree cut. Get the secondary school students and youth to stand up and fight for Aburi. The chiefs are selling lands just for money and do not care about the youth and the future. @apa papabi spa, Ghana is a small country and it cannot absorb the massive foreigners coming in. There are not enough green areas to support the biodiversity and agriculture. We are going to run out of natural ground water very soon. There are poor native farmers who are been dislocated and have lost their livelihood to foreigners. The climate is changing and it will cause massive water shortages and affect electricity production. Massive community health issues with sanitation problems increasing. Dust and human suffering of the poor will increase and no future land and agriculture land for the next generation. Please we need to control immigration of foreigners and STOP the destruction of the forest in Aburi now. This is serious matter and Nation Security Issue for the Government. Minister for Roads should construct the Kitase Berekuso Road and Bulldoze down all the illegal houses on the hillside as he promised 3 years ago.

I have been living back and forth in Accra for 6 years now. Aburi is very beautiful and breezy, the botanical garden is the best.
My rent is less than $1000 every 2 years in dzorwulu, which is good because I’m only there 2/3 months out of 24. Remember. Ghana laws are not enforced like American laws. Building a house there takes commitment. You can’t leave it unattended for long periods of time. You have to hire security or have someone you trust live on the property while you travel. And if you buy land and let it sit....someone will try to build on it.
So before you build that house, make sure you are prepared to make it your primary home.

...Do you also know that Africans are deported in boat loads as well?

When you buy a land here in Ghana especially Aburi, Tutu, Adukrom Hills, Oyibi, Akwepem mountains, Dodowa, Shai Hills and Apollonia etc. say 2 plots, 3 or an acre , don't leave the land idle, fence it and fix a gate at the front then you have it forever secured and that everybody knows this land has a owner, then later you when you're ready for the go,you can now build your house/home
2.When we sell a land to you,you will be given an indenture and a side plan of your plot(s) signed by family heads,or a chief with your signature and 3 referees/witness from you.Te same way the family heads also have 3 referees who also signed the indenture.
Point 3. We will go to the town or traditional council, district assembly and lands commission to register your land(s).

Who's in charge of selling the land in the rainforest because you would think that they would want to conserve some of this land. I believe that they should make it like a RV park where you can come and go camping but not build any structures all over it you know and then you have little land plots where people could park their RV and glamp if you will. That would be nice but I don't think they should build a bunch of homes if it's a rainforest it looks beautiful and peaceful and clean
