I studied in the UK and I can confirm that crime rate is one the things that always made me anxious. Even by walking on the streets you can get hackled for doing nothing by some thugs wearing track suits. Don't get me started on name calling and verbal abuse. The funny thing is they always call me "you damn Chinese" or even Japanese although I am a slightly darker skin person. I eventually realized that if you live near the council housing areas you are most likely going to face all those abuses. There is a lot of broken family and family with single mothers, so it makes sense.
Felt so relieved when I return to Malaysia. Way way more peaceful.

@@255gmoneyAlmost everything in UK is behind compared to other European countries, housing, airports, healthcare, roads, Law Enforcement, right down to the water pressure in the house.
Germany's law enforcement took down a coup, Belgium's healthcare ranks 3rd in the world, France has arguably the best water supply in the world, Italy has on average some of the longest living people in the world with a blue zone in their country. Norway's prison system is great too, meanwhile England still hires surgeons and GP's from Europe even though they left the EU. Their own government doesn't play by its own rules, Boris Johnson and Matt Hancock during the pandemic are prime examples. Their healthcare service is collapsing, their teachers and ambulance workers are striking too.

    3. Weather rainy
    4. High taxes

    • @dcoughla681

Agreed, Saira. Taxes will increase under this new government. There are no police so conviction rates for criminals are low because prisons are full. There’s nowhere really to socialise. Cinemas are closing, dining out and the theatre’s expensive. Salaries have not kept up with house price inflation due to globalisation and tech. Let’s not get started on the education system. London is the same as New York.

    • @potato1084
      @potato1084 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

The taxes are very average for a developed nation honestly. Bad behaviour and crimes are usually limited to bad areas (of which there are many but you can absolutely avoid them). Gov regulations…there’s not enough? But it’s a democracy. Stressful lifestyle is everywhere if your mindset allows for it.

Being a lifelong Californian, I can attest to the reality of these issues....especially the cost of living. My retirement is just 4 to 5 years away, SE Asia is where I'm headed. Until then, I've adopted more minimalist habits and investing every extra dollar to fund the next chapter in life.

The government of UK has systematically degraded the family ethics and social norms in society probably since 1980's. I have been living in London since 1960 and had experienced the golden years, when one bread winner managed the family without stress.
Now the picture is nothing but super stress day and night. Yes, stealth taxes, fines , limited parking space in London ( unable to visit family and friends ), food prices on the rise weekly. Car insurances , road tax, mot's and residential parking permits. Public transport so expensive. Even if you drop someone off outside the airport there is a fee. Pay for parking outside hospitals and doctors because you become ill from stress. Your children raised in schools that have gone mad with gender politics . Unaffordable housing, now you really need four bread winners to smile .
    So so Sad.

Now that I have fulfilled my bond obligation, I am considering looking for a job there in the UK.
The points you emphasised like crime rates, alcohols, stress, weather really made me think again. Now that I have a family with 4 kids, these things really weighs down the options. Things are not the same when I was a young student back then, and now as a father.

It may help to know that you could half your KL's cost if you lived outside , say Seremban , Melaka and you can stay home by tumpang makan , cater your food month long 5days a week. It's a Chinese thing culturally (but , I know two Malay shops(restaurant frontage) in Sri Damansara that does this , too. ie. halal.)(2 sets of tiffin each meal(minimum pax 2)so lunch and dinner requires 4sets tiffin , on you. Washing the tiffin is also on you.)(You leave the tiffin next to your front door , washed. He'll come around in his time to swap the set.) It's not advertised , ask around. To further avoid going out , the local , local grocer (the one who'll clean your fish? Not the modern grocers.) will also deliver on call , his time , what 30 , 45 mins radius for some RM2 or 4 per trip on given days of the week.(Indian sundry shops will also deliver milk , bread , stove gas , padi(rice) , lime fruit , banana , mutton , toilet paper , Milo , mosquito coils , chempedak(because this fruit keeps))? Outside of KL the van making a lot of noise is either a "recycler" , the gasman or a grocer. Or the ice cream vender !(This is "antropological " Malaysia , somewhat still is. ) Hope you make it to Malaysia ..

The government and politicians here are very lazy and laidback. There has been ever increasing rents and lack of housing but the govt doesn’t have a plan to build more houses. Taxes are too high, income doesn’t increase with the same pace as inflation, no night life as shops closes at 5 which makes living very stressful and boring. Everything is so expensive

really good share, really appreciate it, i can't agree more on the stress from every corner in the UK. I was working in a warehouse, the targeting was pushing everyone very stressful and to become a machine, and the management only focus on performance not on health and safety (but they did mention health and safety a lot by mouth), so I quit. Now, I'm doing food delivery, the road design and road conditions are so risky, not enough parking space making many people park their cars at risky areas, driving is very stressful in UK, accidents can easily happen. I would blame the incapability of the governments to address the increasing population year by year, it failed to deal with the increasing demand for everything, again making everyone become more and more stressful living in UK now than ever before.

I've just came across your video and feel like someone has a very same perception of living in the UK as me. I though I'm being a bit dramatic feeling this way but now I can see that this is the reality. Many of my British clients moved to Europe in the last year for better life quality. Some of my friends are applying for dual nationalities due to their acenstry to potentially migrate in the future.
The life quality has been steadily decreasing in the UK over 20 years so I'm making plans to move back to Europe myself. For me, the lifestyle in the UK improved as soon as I started running my own business, rather than working in a place where I was told off for going to toilet a couple of times a day. However, the constantly gloomy, cold and damp weather in the country is the straw that broke the camel's back and encouraged me to leave this country.

My father has his Masters Degree at Uni of Sussex in Brighton in 1986-87. I had the chance to further my study there too, of course I was only 12-13 so its just high school for me then.
Back then £1 is equivalent to 8 malaysian ringgit though I believe things were a lot cheaper compare to now.
But UK was a more advanced country compare to Malaysia with many more motorways and, double decker buses (carry more ppl over the same footprint) and also the famous london underground.
It wasn't that easy for us though, a family of 4 because everything would need a serious consideration for purchasing.
If you have 500k pounds coming to malaysia, you would be a multi millionaire here.
If 1 have 500k ringgit to go to the UK, that would hardly pass 2 years.

I am sorry having to say all this but just having an education in the UK especially for those who came from Commonwealth Countries like Malaysia simply does not put you on a better footing to start a life in UK. Coming to UK as a visitor be it as a student or a tourist is a far cry from living in the UK full time. Sad to say but many from Commonwealth due to historical ties tend to have a romantic notion about moving to and living in the UK. It is NOT real- you will always be a foreigner and even if you manage to find work there and make a living, it will be much worse than being in Malaysia. 500K in RM after taxes in the UK will leave you nothing and on top it all you will never be accepted as a local no matter what you do.

My sister lives in a leafy London suburb. Her house was as burgled while she, her husband and two kids were asleep in the house over 25 years ago. The UK still has one of the lowest murder rates in the world and stabbings are generally gang related. You want to move abroad? Go ahead

Actually, anti-social behaviour and petty crime was probably worse in UK during he nineties compared to now. Gangs of teenagers being a nuisance would always be loitering outside shops, joyriding was a huge issue then, etc

Unfortunately, Muslims' countries regimes won't allow migration to these countries.
The only viable ways are employment, investment, marriage or hiding there if possible hoping you get humanitarian residence permit.
I'm stateless Palestinian since birth, luckily resettled to a Muslim majority country after leaving UAE Alhamdulillah after being stuck there for decades. I got humanitarian residence permit, and they made me pay a fine for staying illegally !!. Better than GCC countries and their sponsered visa laws. I can practice my religion here openly and no sponser. Financially, barely survive, but again no sponsers thing, and GCC countries hoax projects.
