Not quite as surprising as you're implying at 6:20 (though still unexpected) - Shawn the Sheep is apparently big in Japan, and Aardman have collaborated with Nintendo previously, doing 3d Shawn the Sheep shorts for the 3ds, alongside allowing Nintendo to use Shawn the Sheep as a Mystery Mushroom costume for the original Mario Maker. ...This isn't the Nintendo (or adjacent)/Aardman collaboration I dream about (That's Pikmin), but... It theoretically makes it more likely.
i also hope it is a movie instead of a series because since ash is retired itd be the first movie in a while...if ever where the protagonist is someone else possibly completly disjointed from the current anime
