When you guys have kids they will be blessed to have you as a father! You’ll definitely be a great dad that’s fur sure, I could only imagine the toys they would get
In my opinion, the 400EX was the best trail quad Honda ever made. I have a 2007. They need to bring it back. New rear tiers would make it easier to wheelie. Some hand guards would probably be a good idea too. Great Quad. Thanks for sharing.
I love my 400ex... such fun machines. The shocks look like 250r OEM shocks, which ironically are the ones that came on my, but I picked up the 450 shocks.
If you’re going to ride in the woods dump those stupid nerf bars ! I never did like those hazards. Besides you don’t need the bars if you know how to ride. Even if you race it. I used to race hare scrambles. You learn quick that those nerfs will get you hurt.
Honda used to put factory tool boxes in that location on their ATC's back in the day. They came with tools in them and everything. I had one on my 350X
I love my 2001 400EX that I’ve had since brand new. Only changes I’ve made are a swing arm skid plate due to the rocky terrain I used to ride on, 1” bigger tires on the rear to make up the skid plate clearance and a 1 tooth smaller drive gear to make up for the tires. Still rip that thing all over the place and now so do my kids.
I got to say thanks for the thoroughness of this video. I’m in the market for a 400ex and knew I would have to look over some things. This video is extremely helpful for what to do and precisely how to do it.
My cousin had one of these when I was a teen. He owns a motorcycle dealership so he always had used quads and bikes at his house that he would prep to sell. And he had the 400ex for a summer and I ripped that thing every weekend! I loved it and it was so much fun! Great quad
That’s about the right amount of board kit you would want because I’ve seen people putting them 440 board kits in there and then things they overheat quick and they usually blow up pretty quick because them sleeves get very thin
You’ll be surprised when you find your first bees nest back in the bushes. I found a few getting rid of the fallen trees on the trails so be aware of the critters !
Joe, I strongly recommend 1. Ditching that K&N dirt sucker and throwing a UNI foam filter on it. 2. I recommend stage 1,2 hotcam or webb. 3. New back tires. The more power u make the more of a need for traction u have. And I would definitely suggest porting
@@Antiquefarmequipment i think as they are high flowing filters, they probably are better suited for street riding and not dirt riding. More flow means less filtration usually. Anyway I'm not an expert, this is just my assumption,
There has been a test done that I saw using a particle meter & flow tester. k&n are very free flowing almost the same as no filter at all while they still catch a lot of the debris. Some filters were worse, most were better at filtering, but the bigger more important debris didn't make it through the k&n. The k&n flowed the best out of all filters tested. The k&n was also tested without an outerwear pre filter.
Try some gritty Vim oven cleaner on the seat cover...rub gently and most of the staining will come off. After the seat will appear dull which you can restore by rubbing in some baseball glove oil in small amounts to restore the gloss of the cover.
dollar store oven cleaner will take that blue stuff off really well. IMO THE 400EX AND THE WARRIOR ARE THE 2 BEST QUADS EVER MADE. POWERFUL,ABLE TO GO ON LONG WEEKEND TRIPS,AND STILL HAVE A BLAST AT A TRACK WITH THEM.
You get ahold of some nice machines and this one is a hell of a score. You made an excellent trade IMO and this quad is bad ass. It’s in damn good shape for a 22 year old bike. This one is really worth keeping.
I had one with a 440 kit and stage 2 hot cam. Hmf exhaust. It was so fun. Roasted clutches though. You could sit as far forward as you could and nail it and it would wheelie through all the gears
i had a 2000 400 ex, yellow with cams and some other engine work done. it was a great toy. i like bicycling them. (riding on two wheels). Bees also love them as i came outside to move mine after it'd been in the sun all day and it had about 5 thousand bees on it. I think they thought i was their momma.
Awesome! You look at home on the 400ex…I have a Stage 2 HotCam if your interested? It will really wake up that 416. I have a 99 & ended up going with a Stage 1. Also…open up that air box…2” hole saw works perfect. Nice progress on moving, organizing & still makin vids 👍🏻
It actually looks like it may have been changed... The wrong way. If you see when he wipes out the filter housing, some of the oil on the paper towel is a golden color, most of it is greyish black color. I think they changed it but left the old filter in which stained the majority of the oil from mixing with old oil.
I love your channel I've been following for a long time I'm hoping one of these days to get my warrior back on the road I've been diagnosed with cancer and it's been sitting. Before I had to start going through treatment at least I have a smart enough to drain the fuel honestly I believe all it needs is the battery charged and one of the leads on the battery terminal broke loose from being bent too many times. I'm 52 years old love riding I hope I can get back out there by next summer anyway I haven't been able to ride since February 21. Keep up the good work I wish I was a little closer I would have bought some of your old four wheelers
Great video and a cool swap 😎 !! Riding the tree 🌳 line had me leaning towards the right LOL 😆 thanks for sharing, stay safe and as always "Howdy from Texas "!!

Looks really nice only thing that really needs replacing is back tyres and them front brakets taken off I wouldn't trust them either a quick oil change you definitely got a nice deal mate should be fun 👍
You need to buy yourself a harbour fright hydraulic press it makes it easy to press bearings in and save you a lot of time and trouble I've got one and it makes jobs a lot easy 😉
ATV’s are street legal in my state and was just looking a 400ex with a 416 kit installed for $2800. Looks to be in real good shape and well taken care of. Not sure it will be enough power to roam around. I might just keep looking for a Raptor in the winter when prices hopefully pull back some.
Bro you need to get a magic eraser wet and spray some degreaser on the seat and it should come out brand new, idk how you stay on those seats all lubed up in wd-40
Nice bike but I hear a rattle sounds like a wrist pin it's at mid throttle I'm in the process of a yellow 05 TRX rebuild myself traded some wheels and tires for it got the Darkside Terminator graphics the nose piece I'm drilled holes for the eyes putting red LEDs in them good looking undercarriage on your quad also by the way
My guess would be it feels so much faster because of the bigger front sprocket plus If it actually has a good big bore kit on it like Athena them cheap kits don't even compare to it some people think 440 is 440 or whatever the case but so not true
It could be the rjngs are worn a little bit which would turn the oil black quickly...if it does not smoke at start up then rjngs are decent.. I would suspect...UNI filter 2 to 1...
It looked like some of the chain links were seized up but maybe they are good now? New rears for sure. You were having to work way too hard to wheelie cuz bald tires.. you could probly trade for uncut fenders
its none of my bussiness but been watching along time i always wonder if people that do youtube have a real job or they just do youtube i thought you went to school to be a engineer did ya graduate yet n are ya working as a engineer

I have never rode one but hopefully I will one day. Maybe I lack quad experience and quad chains are supposed to be tighter? Because from what I saw that chain seemed way to tight.
A 10 min test ride could turn into a 3 hour one. That's how fun that thing looks
I drove that quad! I helped put the motor in it too. Is a fast machine. And I can confirm that motor was indeed rebuilt.

We put a 416, stage 2 cam, and 2 teeth down in the front on my wife's ex. It ain't the fastest but it will climb a tree
Nice trade. Hand guards might be a nice addition.
Those aluminum boxes below the fenders is a good idea because it funnels more air to the engine
Basically an XR 400 engine shoved into a quad. Super reliable and will run forever if you take care of it.

That's a wicked awesome ATV. Also, I'm really loving the new garage
You got the better end of that trade deal. Sweet quad. Very impressed minus front shock engineering. Great vid.
Haha I literally had this saved on my Facebook market place. Hilarious to see that you got it! Clean quad for sure!
The best case saver I can recommend is DRW, it looks like a big chunk of plastic, but it protects like a champ
At least someone knows!!
Yes the best there is! Nobody compares.
@@bradyfarms9250 glann innovations would be the only one that compares but Drw has a better design for sure

Wow that front shock setup was something else , whoever did that really has manure for brains
It worked for 3 months. Took it over jumps

Time to get chuck back out for another shoot out on the new property 🤟🏻🔥🤟🏻 great trade Joe

Why put a hole in airbox ? just drive around without a lid. once theres a hole its always there even driving in mud or water puddles
