Very tight back seat though, not too ideal for child seats especially rear facing infant seats.
It does not auto up shift unless you are on the kick down switch. You’ll notice if you floor it and keep pressing harder the pedal clicks down one more notch. I have a 2020 Mazda CX30 premium and I love it. I’ve owned mini coopers, Lexus Nx, and Mercedes S550 so I’m used to comfy fun cars and Mazda nailed it. For all you cx30 owners..they have a fix for the AC..it will no longer blow warm air when you accelerate 🥶
@@oasisofficial2696 sure thing, at least this vehicle for my mom the first week it came out almost 2 years ago and she stole my brand new Mercedes convertible that at least for myself so I took the Mazda we got for her instead and I actually loved it, I’ve kept telling myself how this is a Mazda because my father and I have been in the automotive repair industry for a very long time. About 2 marchs ago I noticed every time I would accelerate with the air conditioning turned on it would blow warm air and then when I would let go of the gas pedal the cold air would come back. Older vehicles like Audis, vw and Volvos would do this. Most cars do not have this technology because there’s been really no need for them however no idea a Mazda programmed the CX 30 like this. After months of complaining to the Mazda dealership my technician who is an awesome guy informed me they finally created a software upgrade they perform the upgrade it took care of the problem I was extremely happy and then the warmer summer temperatures in California roll by when my issues really began. I have never felt cold in my car and neither have my passengers I complained to Mazda and the dealer along with corporate even confirmed they did not use the strongest air-conditioning system available to Mazda in the CX 30. My passengers have never said to me that they were ever called and they agree it doesn’t have ice cold air conditioning like a typical brand new Japanese vehicle. I got my digital and manual thermometer out and stuck them into the vents to find out it blows 60° coming out of the vents while driving, my 20-year-old in Mitsubishi Montero blows 34° while driving out of the AC vents.. my brand new Mercedes convertible blows 30° while driving out of the AC vents, I tested multiple brand new other Japanese manufacturers and they were also in the low 30°. The funny thing is my sister has a 2019 Mazda CX five and her air-conditioning is awesome it also blows 36° while driving. The dealer has given me a Mazda three which has the same engine so I would assume it has the same air-conditioning system and the Mazda3 air-conditioning is ice cold as well. I’ve test driven every brand new Mazda product they have besides Amira since I’ve gone to service many times and have received the different types mazda loaners from them. This was our second summer with the CX 30 and we’ve had many uncomfortable days inside it. Are usually have the fan speed on four or five and luckily I am young and have a great vision and I can hear the fan speed on its own sometimes become weaker without me changing the fan speed level. Mazda corporate approved a change of the air conditioning computer system one month ago and last week I noticed my thermometer on my dashboard that’s built into my car tell me that it was 22° outside when in fact it was 85° so I got hot turn the air-conditioning system on to find out it was blowing 90° hot air out of the vents, I called my service rep because he gave me a cell phone number and explained to him I am on the way and when I was five minutes away from the dealership the cold air conditioning air came back on however the digital thermometer of the exterior temperature on the cluster showed it was 40° when it was actually 85 outside. My car has been at the dealership since last Tuesday and they loaned me a 2021 Mazda CX five signature turbo all wheel drive and I am in love with it but I still wouldn’t get to CX five yet because there are many quirks that I would like for them to fix like the driver side is closer to the center armrest then the front passenger is so every time we make a left or right turn or I am moving my seat the driver seat touches the center armrest causing leather to scrape against each other making a very annoying noise I don’t know why every single Mazda CX five on the road right now is built the same way. Getting back to my CX 30, corporate approved them to change the entire PCM computer of the car without replacing the exterior temperature sensor for some reason so let’s see what happens when I get it back this week. Funny thing, the software upgrade is available for us Mazda CX 30 owners and I test drove a 2021 CX 30 turbo all wheel drive to only find out every time I would accelerate it would also blow warm air out of the air conditioning vents every time Cold air will come back when they let go of the gas pedal, I brought this up to the service e and he was shocked the upgrade was not installed, I notify the salesman but you know most of them don’t really know what product they are selling these days and he could give two shits about it. Don’t get me wrong I love the Mazda CX30 so much I’m considering trading it in and getting the turbo all-wheel-drive CX 30 however they need to really upgrade this air conditioning system in the car and I know they are able to do so because their other products have amazing AC systems. Sorry for the typos I used auto voice to text.
Looks good. 215 tires seem narrow for a 250 hp/320 lb-ft, 3,505 lb car. I would like to see OEM of at least 225, maybe 235. The CX-50 (fully loaded) with the same engine, and having a curb weight of 3,907 lbs, has 245s as OEM.
I want to buy one of these as my primary vehicle. 2021 turbo. How long will it last before repairs start adding up? Is it worth the money to buy a 2022 instead in terms of maintenance over time? I don't like buying new cars. I like to stick with what I have, once I get it . . . I will be paying cash, no finance.
Zoom Zoom Mazda, please give us this Turbo Motor and you can have from us ( Germany ) the very disappointing Skyaktiv X Motor with 180 HP but on the Street feels like max. 150 HP and if you drive a little bit sporty the motor needs a lot of petrol, only if you drive very slowly the engine is economy.
Trying to choose between the Premium or the Turbo -- the wheels look too small in all-black!! They should offer an option to add 19" or even 20" wheels as the Audi Q3 or even Tiguan does.
I am a long time Toyota hybrid line owner (10 years) and it's hard to change/settle for other things but...options are limited now and leasing allows for temporary ownerships. I am tied between Subaru Crosstrek Limited and this one. Neither being hybrid (Sub Crosstrek hybrid is extremely limited in USA)-- it seems this one is pretty bad w/ gas. Sacrifice or suffering (hmmm)?
That head up display seems counterproductive to its goal of improving safety. It’s way too high on the windshield. Even on the most dim setting at night would feel pretty distracting I’d imagine.
It’s in the bottom of your peripheral. This means you never actually take your eyes off the road to check your speed. Most cars will probably have this feature and many luxury brands are headed towards it. I love this feature, really something amazing.
You can lower it in the settings and put it rt at the lower edge of the windhield--it took me 10 minutes and i was able to set the CX-30 up perfectly--including the fantastic bose stereo.I just picked up mine today and its a great vehicle.
"Features & technology" aren't the first two things that pop to mind when buying a vehicle. They're nice but there's a lot more that goes into buying a vehicle.
Thanks for the great review! do you think that the front visibility is limited with this car? I'm planning on getting a new car, really like the cx 30 turbo, however I test drove last week and feel like the front windows are a lot smaller than typical SUVs, even sedans. even though the dealer told me how mazda is dealing with this issue with bigger side mirrors, it almost gave me kind of this claustrophobic feel when seating at the driver's seat. How do you feel about that? I'm a new driver, do you think it's going to interfere with normal driving?
Topher - I drive upwards of 50k miles a year. Also a driving enthusiast, and I own a new MX-5. I’m cross shopping between the CX-30 Turbo Premium vs the Mazda3 Hatch Premium Plus for a daily driver. Which would you recommend?
Oh man, I’d go drive both and see what you prefer. One advantage to the Mazda3 is you can disable stability control for some fun in the dirt/snow. The cx-30 has a great traction control system for daily and offroad. Both won’t have amazing fuel range for 50k miles a year. Wouldn’t dismiss the CX-5 either..
@@TheTopher I hear you on the CX-5. I test drove it, and it’s nice for sure. It just felt huge. Especially for me who drives solo 99% of the time. The tank range is a major downer.
WHY CAN'T MAZDA PUT PANORAMIC MOONROOFS IN THEIR VEHICLES?! :( I love this car so much but torn between this and the Ford Escape 2.0t. Looking to upgrade to a small fun driving SUV from my current Scion TC and coming from a vehicle that gets so much light in the interior from a pano roof, I may feel cramped in the Mazda...
Mazda is a very small car manufacturer, they don't have the R&D budget to spend on uneccesary things like a panoramic moonroof. Instead of small niggles like that, mazda spends their money on making solid drivetains and good interiors.
@@jakekiedaisch2279 It's not that expensive to develop, especially since it's been in past Mazdas and the current Cx-5 among others. I love my panoramic sunroof in my car. And they do have the budget, they're not broke lmao.
@@alh06 Yes they aren't broke, but the business case isn't there. Mazda sells a fraction of the cars (at least in the us market) compared to its domestic competitors. I have a 2018 Mazda 3. I had a 3 turbo as a loaner for about a week and i spent so much on gas. Fun to drive though. Much more power.
Did you ever try Traffic Jam Assist?
Basically auto-steer below 40 mph and auto-accelerate from a stop (which I understand ACC won't do without some input)
For my second car, I'm looking for a really nice cheaper car. I'm honestly stuck between this, the Mazda 3 sedan, and the 2021 Hyundai Elantra. My watch later is filled with videos like this for those cars 😅
Did you notice the signals Blink and Fade? SICK
How would you compare this to something like an Alltrack? Which is a more engaging experience? I know this has more power but the Alltrack is very tunable and the DSG is really great to use. However, I really like what Mazda is doing right now and this has some appeal to it for sure.
Best pov drives!
C-30 is nice, but I can’t get its rear design. Mazda 3 and CX5 are much better.
Can you explain that AC thing??
Check the new update for the Sky-Activ X, it looks like its a big improvement over the initial version.
@@Muggs666 hopefully it´s better as the first try.
My mazda rep told me that only after 4000 km skyactiv x gives it's full power
@@emiliodijan2194 and is it true ??
@@alengreen589 I don't know,i'm still on 2000 km:-)
Trying to choose between the Premium or the Turbo -- the wheels look too small in all-black!! They should offer an option to add 19" or even 20" wheels as the Audi Q3 or even Tiguan does.
Does it have idle start stop which turns off the engine? :)
The paint scheme reminds me of the 86 from Initial D
Exactly!
I sure hope I think it's as fun as you do, I pick up my 2022 CX30 Premium tomorrow am at 9a est. 🙂 #ICantWait
How is faster not more fun? Other than that, great review and I’m getting one!
The Mazda CX-30 turbos are having an excessive oil consumption issue that Mazda is aware of but has no known fix even as of May 2022.
You should only be whipping your car around if you’re on a track. So really the slip protection thing is a perk because it’s meant for safety.
wonder how it would feel as a supercharged
...now Mazda north America needs the Mazda6 wagon to complete the trifecta. But the 6 wagon needs to be fast and fun.
Those plastic panels just scream "I need to be wrapped."
Order Chrome around it, Really helps!
Is that wireless carplay???
so no rust issues? No turbo issues... worried about the engine wear bcz of the turbo
I love how Mazda is putting a larger turbo 4 cylinder engine in this smaller suv…
That gloss plastic is softer than candlewax.
Compare the features and technology you get on a 2022 Tuscon compared to this Mazda for $33K... its like night and day.
Did you buy it? Small windows are also my issue with this car from the looks, but most people don't bring it up. Side mirrors do at least seem large.
White and dark blue, i think are the best color for cx-30
Definitely the blue mica. That's why it's sitting in my driveway. :-)
Mazda is a hidden gem , it has been for years and it's lower sales numbers do not compliment average american car buyer...
How is seat comfort on longer drives?
Anyone else think you have to turn the steering wheel quite a bit to get the vehicle to start actually turning?
One of these reviews needs to feature you bringing me some takeout from Karl's. I just live at the end of Gotfredson.
Mazda is the nicest basic car brand by far. I can see The newer Mazdas competing with some Acura models.
Also no boost meter?
Something about mazda interiors... makes me feel like im in an actual cabin.
No fog lights? 😔
Lighting is awesome.. no need for them
Does it have pumped in engine noise?
I also own a 07 c6 corvette. This car is damn near as fast 0-30
If you want it longer than 3 years, get the Mazda as it is much more reliable.
Panoramic roofs leak over time. Not good if you plan to own the car for a long time
Mazda is a very small car manufacturer, they don't have the R&D budget to spend on uneccesary things like a panoramic moonroof.
They are much better served focusing the R&D money on things that will have more effect selling cars, over smaller things like a pano sunroof.
Does the Mazda 2.5 turbo trim have the speed limit thing
What did you mean by this question?
