    • @geraldperry7779

      Yes but 2 things that mazda fail on, I have the 2018 Mazda 3 hatchback grand touring, also purchsed 2021 Mazda 3 hatchback with turbo and AWD. My 2018 on dry pavement handles better with independent rear suspension, also 6 speed manual transmission, mazda lost rear end feeling to torsion bar/beam and not available the manual transmission. Also they should have option of shutting off the AWD, cause eats more fuel and if you blow the differential rear or front your screwed. At least if can be shut off when car getting worn say 300 kilometers, you can just drive it till dieds. That's around $5K parts and labour. Both are great cars, my 2018 used for delivery has almost 190,000 kilometers of city driving only, only 1 issue sometimes I'll get double screen in reverse,that from slamming shut the hatch up to 20+ daily. Can't ask any better, just hope the new one is as reliable in long run, I rarely use it though.

    • @user-gi4uz5rc6u
      @user-gi4uz5rc6u 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@geraldperry7779 unfortunately we don't get the turbo in Europe. 260 ps with four wheel drive would be great,and if we would, it would be very expensive in comparison with USA.

    • @sic22l

      Sadly those naturally aspirated engines are pretty boring to drive. Once you try turbo you don't want to go back.

    • @jdmguy44
      @jdmguy44 3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @@sic22l Don't agree, if you actually enjoy driving there is a lot of pleasure/fun to be had from driving a sweet free revving non turbo engine with more linear power delivery and wider powerband than a boosted unit. Especially when you throw in an excellent manual gearbox - which is what you get on any Mazda.

    • @sic22l
      @sic22l 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jdmguy44 Actually turbocharged engines have much wider powerband. With Skyactiv-X you have power between 4900 and 6000 rpm. The engine also doesn't rev more freely than turbocharged competition, it's pretty anemic. To get similar performance as 1,5TSI at 2000-3000 revs you need at least 2000 revs more in the Mazda. That's noisy ans aggressive.

    The internal layout of Mazdas are one of the best in automotive business nowadays. I think that Mercedes should pay a lot of attention and use some of the esthetic ideas from its Japanese rival...as far as interiors are concerned:)

    If I want to fold the rear seats without interference, I just remove the rear headrests; both these vehicles still allow that, unlike some competitors. I do wish that they still used the lower-profile headrests like the CX-3 or the previous Mazda3, or fold-down ones like the Ford Fiesta or Escape (I presume the Kuga is the same).

    I was eyeing to get a Mazda CX-30 for months before I finally decided to go for the Mazda3 instead. Heres why I was opting for small car that is equipped with AT transmission that my wife could use (she is new to driving)
    I shortlisted CX-30 because it is a crossover and i believe its a perfect combination of an SUV and a car. Due to tight budget I am only looking the CX-30 entry level 2.0 NA FWD only. It is priced closely to the M3 Hatch entry level, but there are things about CX-30 base model that turned me off and I think If i buy it i would have been shortchanged by Mazda
    Heres why
    1. No leather upholstery (M3 base model has)
    2. No rear aircon vents (M3 base has)
    3. No paddle shifters (M3 base has)
    4. No sunroof (M3 base has)
    5. No heads up display (M3 base has)
    6. Larger than life body claddings (looks awful paired with soul red crystal body, which is the body color i prefer)
    7. The difference in ground clearance is not even that big (2 inches i believe?)
    8. You really have to buy the top trim in order to get those bells and whistles which is super expensive
    So i decided to just get the M3 hatch

    I owned the 2020 Mazda 3 sedan for a year and recently traded it on the CX30. The 3 was definitely more fun to drive but my wife was having difficulty entering & exiting the vehicle due to an injury. She has no issues with the 30. All things being equal, I would have kept the 3 but I'm pleasantly surprised at how much I like the 30. My 59cm frame bicycle fits in the 30 better and my kayak fits on the roof just fine on both vehicles. You can't go wrong either way. I'm 6'2" (188cm) and find the driving position very comfortable. I don't carry anyone my size in the back seat so the cramped space isn't an issue. We don't have the active X as an option so both vehicles were equipped with the 2.5L non turbo. Good review.

If it has better performance, then I'd go for it and the fuel-saving would be a bonus. We also have a Mazda 6 wagon we use for family holidays for extra luggage space. We're considering the Volvo XC90 T8 Recharge to replace the wagon, but the price is considerably higher. I believe with Mazdas you get a lot of features for your money and they are all really cheap to buy regardless of which you go for. It would be nice to have less road noise, but just turn the stereo up or open the sunroof and it isn't an issue.

    I ordered a Mazda 3 with e-Skyactiv X and automatic after trying the manual in a 3 and automatic in CX-5. I still keep watching videos of them just for fun :)
    What I really liked about the automatic was how smooth it was. I don't mind that it consumes a bit more or goes higher in rpm when accelerating, I prefer the comfortable and smooth drive. I also tow trailers from time to time and using an automatic for slow speeds (walking speeds) is just easier. What I dislike about the CX-30 is those black plastic bumpers all around the car. It may look more robust but it doesn't contribute to the "sex appeal" of the car for me.

    I own the Mazda 3 2019 model year, but rolled out the shop 2020. Very happy with the car for the price, tech features included in the price, compared to many competitors. No fake engine noises, engines sounds cool and a real automatic with paddles are good, but would need an update to be honest. It rides a bit harsh with the 18 inch wheels, From what I know, the later models had their suspension retuned and now it has some more torque and 8 more horse powers. The interior is good, but keep in mind the plastic glass over the instrument cluster scratches extremely easy, same with the piano black stuff around the shifter. Comfortable for long rides and quiet cabin. We live in the city, are just a couple and we very rarely have passengers, if you have passengers in the back often, consider a bigger/different car. For resale reasons in my country, the automatic is good to equip the car with.

    Picked up my Mazda 3 over a week ago....the new 2021 e- Skyactiv G. I’m loving the car and the performance is good for what I need. I came from VW and feel they have gone downhill in quality with cabin fit an cheap plastics, noise insulation is very good around town and cruising. I can’t fault the cabin so far with the Mazda 3, the seating position is very comfortable and you feel part of the car, a very relaxed smooth drive. I’ve only covered 300 miles and MPG in the UK has been fine.....around town I’ve managed 48-52mpg. I’m expecting maybe a slight improvement once the engine has settled and “run in” I think the e-skyactiv G for 2021 has been improved to obtain these figures. The software in the mild hybrid must have been updated, Well worth a look.....and a consideration!!

      My last 2 cars were VW. Hard plastics on the doors and dash my 1st was better than the one I just replaced. The Mazda 3 has soft touch materials and cloth on the doors and the dash has leather effect which feels very nice. A lot of reviews comment the MK8 Golf being not as good as the MK7. Even Audi has fallen this way. Little things like door pocket lining and mats in the cup holders etc. The Mazda 3 is a nice place to be....One thing about sound proofing is driving in the rain......the sound it makes on the body work can tell you a lot how it deals with noise.

    Great comparison, thanks! Surprised that the doors sound better on the CX-30 since the 3 hatchbacks are made in Japan while the CX-30's are made in Mexico (at least the ones we get in North America); I would've thought the ones made in Japan would've been better built!

    • @TrinityWilderness1
      @TrinityWilderness1 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The number one factor in terms of door closing sound isn’t the quality of the door itself, but rather the thickness and quality of the door seals (rubber), as well as how much or how little) sound absorbing material was used INSIDE of the door(s).
      My Toyota Prius was far too loud for my liking so I added some for less than fifty bucks and now it’s Lexus vault-like when I close my doors. Totally worth it, in my opinion. Saved more then $20,000 by not buying a used Lexus instead!

    Pretty similar to be honest, even the CX30 is quite sporty for a SUV with precise and sharp steering. The choice will be driven by mainly SPACE, it is so cramped behind in the 3 and dark, as well as DESIGN. the rear / side of the 3 still bothers me; and the price delta to get the SUV is really marginal and speaks for itself. Now, mazda needed to make some savings to propose a SUV at that price, and when looking at dashboard, doors you realise that the 3 has better materials / plushest.I had not realised it at first glance. I need volume, cargo capacity to load bike etc and went for the cX30, but otherwise would have opted for the 3 for the driver involvement and the red interior. Anyway; clever combo, offer from Mazda.

    My choice was made in september 2019. Mazda 3, manual, FWD, Skyactiv X, Soul red. Yes, the same as the reviewed.
    Since then no regrets. Biggest issue is definitly the unpracticality of the car.
    Beyond that not much to say. Yeah one thing, unlike Thomas, I will criticize the quality of the interior : Yes, they used decent materials, but it's not that well built and after 1 and a half year, it is starting to have some small noises... Nothing dramatic, but it's not that good.
    Also thumb up to mazda france pricing, because mine has no options... EVERYTHING is standard : matrixes, leather seats, 18". The only thing available were AWD, autogearbox and the paint. Considering the quote i did for some german cars with 30% of the price being options, it's nice. Very nice.
    As for the driving experience, Thomas said everything. On my daily commute i manage to go under 5.5L/100 tho (but lots of highway) and on long journeys it is quite a good car.
    Frankly, if practicality isn't your main criteria, consider the Mazda 3.
