I'm deep into this game right now and Im absolutely loving it. There are bugs and glitches but not enough to ruin the experience. Most underrated game I've ever played in my life. 9/10
To be honest. I give this game an 8/10 so far. There are some things I dont like and few things i love. But the things i love are AMAZING. Hoards are TERRIFYING. Rushing towards your bike on foot in the moonlight with a fuel tank because your tank is too low to get the hell outta dodge and you only have 2 motives, 30 bullets, and about 50 flesh eating zombies swarming right at you with no other chance of escape, It's AMAZING!
It's 6/10 at best. The game is so boring, the writing too, and the character isn't interesting. Weirdly enough, the driving felt like Watchdogs, the first one which isn't good. The only reason I gave it 5 is because of the music and the fact it's the first zombie open world game I played even though it's boring as hell.
Love the game. It solves the minor issue I had with The last of us. Amazing game but heavily built around stealth (especially higher difficulties). While this game has more focus on killing zombies and having the gear to do so. Story is also decent but I like it. 8/10

Well of course today less and less games use that trick, but yeah it's no Red Dead 2. But I don't mind that much, personally. But yeah it cannot be unseen now. But it's like in some titles where the discussions are always happening in wide shots. Lot of hold games did that back in the days. GTA surely did that in San Andreas or something. Plus, it's much less work if you lack time or money. Animate just a couple of words or sentences and then change to a reaction shot. When it's used too much it's obvious but these days you don't see much of it. Maybe in horizon zero dawn they used it since the mouth animations aren't the bests.

Umar Ali days gone isn’t repetitive I’ve been playing it for about 8 hours and it’s been pretty interesting while exploring. There’s been a lot of different confrontations and whatnot

Not sure if anybody's mentioned this game, unlike other games, has a feel good factor about it. Other games was like 'yeah I'm gonna kill these things/people for points/upgrades', but in this game with every kill & side mission, I felt as though I was making the world a better place.

@Cypher The writing is as cliche as you can possibly get. The voice acting isn't anything special either. Gameplay? Nah, shooting mechanics terrible, audio awful. The bike aspect of the game is a joke, constantly on and off fixing or fueling and god help you if the wind so much as blows your way while trying to get on you're flopping all over the place if anyone touches you. At most I gave this game a 6. Been covering it since e3 2017. Easily the weakest of sonys exclusives.

Just so you know guys as of 16/5 most 95% of the issues are fixed ( actually since like week 1 of the game. ) and there are hardly any performance issues. As for me I never had the game broken . Once you start playing lote and investing skill points your gameplay , especially the driving and gunplay feel much more polished as they are essentially a skill . The game is honestly fantastic . A rough diamond. Props on the devs

Saving someone and directing them to a camp is great. But see games have to go the extra mile now like Witcher and RDR2. I want to see that guy back at that specific camp or maybe even deceased part way back as he didn't make it or anything like that. Its the extra mile that really make open world games for me. Like NPC activities for example, imagine if the camps in days gone had some of their crew leave or return on bikes occasionally and spoke to one another about a successful or unsuccessful loot run that maybe turned into some decent intel for us, the protagonist. NPCs in camps need to do more than be idle or have one patrol route, I know its rough to implement and this game already seems like it needed another month or two but its the little things that really make the world feel living and lived in that make me lose myself in it. Surprising how empty a populated area can feel like even when its full of NPCs, they have to cast that illusion over us. Also the audio in this game is awesome, if you are not already I highly recommend headphones. At night the eerie atmosphere and close/distant freaker cries still sends shivers up my spine, I can literally tell which direction they are, what gender they are and how far away they are even though I cant see them on screen or on the radar. Hordes as well you hear before you see a lot of the time and its really good. Game makes me feel tense and vulnerable at all times but especially when off the bike or at night, zombies or equivalent scare the shit out of me so that's probably why but credit to the devs for making me not feel overpowered and increasing my BPM. Also credit to ACG here, only found him 2 hours ago and I find myself going through his reviews now. Really comprehensive reviews and informative from a non biased opinion. Was using gameranx but they seem to review from a personal enjoyment perspective which means style of games they like (looter shooters for example) get a head start in the review department. ACG uses enjoyment from a neutral stance and reviews games as a full product and it makes for a much more detailed and rounded review, really good stuff man thanks for the videos.
I get everything you are saying. I do. But your comment just goes to show just how ignorant consumers are. This game was made by a studio that is much smaller than a studio like rockstar. And what they put out is pretty damn impressive all things considered. When good games like this go unnoticed, dogshit like current EA titles get shat out.

Easily one of the best games of 2019 for me... the first few hours left me unsure, but the story suprised me and the gameplay loop was moorish - visuals on 4k tv ps4 pro blew my mind! Cant believe how far games have come along graphically!
The tech issues could be addressed to some extent with patches. The complaint about the gunplay not being great could be intentional. He's not supposed to be an elite military commando. I was eagerly anticipating this game for the reasons that he listed as strengths of the game, so I'm probably going to be satisfied with it.

For those wanting to get the game now, you'll be happy to know that the only technical issues I ever found so far (thanks to the latest patch and QoL changes) are the enemies (and fewer crows) that sometimes struggle to move around walls.
For anyone worried about technical problems. Patch 1.4 seems to have fixed alot of the reported problems. I'm around 10 hours in and not seen a single "glitch" yet. Loving the game
The way the story flows is unlike any other open world game I have ever played. I was never bored which I have never played an open world that didn’t eventually bore me in some way.
As a huge fan of Sons of Anarchy and Walking Dead, this is a must buy. Bugs don't bother me that much, I think there is definitely enough content to be worth 60 bucks.
Well the thing with any games nowadays is that it has to get reviewed before the day 1 patch. Not saying the game will suddenly become bug free, BUT as it's usually the case with any game, the day 1 patch does fix a decent amount of stuff. Remains to be seen how many things will be fixed this time around, but I doubt the bugs will be as numerous as reviewers had it.
I had SOA in my tv series backlog for several years now, but I started watching it recently to coincide with this game's release and I have to say it's the main reason I'm so hyped for it. I'm on episode 3 of the 6th season, and it's such a great show that I'm going to be very sad when it ends. But at least I'll have Days Gone to keep the biker theme going for a while longer hahaha I got the special edition, and knowing Sony the game will be patched into a solid state in a couple of months so I'm not worried in the least.
I found it interesting that this was created by the same studio that gave us the Syphon Filter series. Those games were my favorites back in the early PS days.
Ha, I didn't realized that. The Syphon Filter games were awesome. The action and those animations were amazing back in the day. I don't know why the series didn't do as good as Metal Gear. I do hope they bring it back

Bought the game with release, left it almost a week after to not play it till a mont back. One of the best games ive played. Great storytelling and its greatly patched since the beginning. Solid 9/10. Hope for part 2 !

This game recalls me Mad Max that came out too. Same kind of vehicle to take care of. Bland game design but good graphics and still pretty good above average

I just finished this game yesterday, and sweet Jesus. I haven't properly cried in a video game since The Last of Us. By the 3/4 the game hits you with feels after feels, I must have nearly cried at least 7 times throughout, no joke. Narratively this is right up there. I forgave the frame drops, the minor bugs and wonky shooting because the story alone was so moving, I'm very happy I played this. Fuck what the critics say they're biased anyway.

I don’t get why people think The Last Of Us’ gameplay isn’t that great. Everyone must have been playing it on the easiest difficulty. Because on Grounded difficultly, it’s the most intense and rewarding combat I have ever seen in a game.

I've played it last year on PC and man is this a good game. Even story wise I'm really into it. Sadly I've read that there is no sequel planed as the sales didn't meet expectations.

I had no intention on buying this game when it came out because I was very skeptical of hype train this time and watching acg only solidifies my decision. I'll pick it up in six or seven months I'm sure. Acg is the best reviewer of games and I trust his judgment implicitly.

As a huge Fan of Stealth action I always use stealth if it’s an option. Love it. Guns blazing isn’t a realistic way to survive. Stealth is.

Not sure if anybody's mentioned this game, unlike other games, has a feel good factor about it. Other games was like 'yeah I'm gonna kill these things/people for points/upgrades', but in this game with every kill & side mission, I felt as though I was making the world a better place.

@Cypher The writing is as cliche as you can possibly get. The voice acting isn't anything special either. Gameplay? Nah, shooting mechanics terrible, audio awful. The bike aspect of the game is a joke, constantly on and off fixing or fueling and god help you if the wind so much as blows your way while trying to get on you're flopping all over the place if anyone touches you. At most I gave this game a 6. Been covering it since e3 2017. Easily the weakest of sonys exclusives.

Just so you know guys as of 16/5 most 95% of the issues are fixed ( actually since like week 1 of the game. ) and there are hardly any performance issues. As for me I never had the game broken .
Once you start playing lote and investing skill points your gameplay , especially the driving and gunplay feel much more polished as they are essentially a skill . The game is honestly fantastic . A rough diamond. Props on the devs

Saving someone and directing them to a camp is great. But see games have to go the extra mile now like Witcher and RDR2. I want to see that guy back at that specific camp or maybe even deceased part way back as he didn't make it or anything like that. Its the extra mile that really make open world games for me. Like NPC activities for example, imagine if the camps in days gone had some of their crew leave or return on bikes occasionally and spoke to one another about a successful or unsuccessful loot run that maybe turned into some decent intel for us, the protagonist.
NPCs in camps need to do more than be idle or have one patrol route, I know its rough to implement and this game already seems like it needed another month or two but its the little things that really make the world feel living and lived in that make me lose myself in it. Surprising how empty a populated area can feel like even when its full of NPCs, they have to cast that illusion over us.
Also the audio in this game is awesome, if you are not already I highly recommend headphones. At night the eerie atmosphere and close/distant freaker cries still sends shivers up my spine, I can literally tell which direction they are, what gender they are and how far away they are even though I cant see them on screen or on the radar. Hordes as well you hear before you see a lot of the time and its really good. Game makes me feel tense and vulnerable at all times but especially when off the bike or at night, zombies or equivalent scare the shit out of me so that's probably why but credit to the devs for making me not feel overpowered and increasing my BPM.
Also credit to ACG here, only found him 2 hours ago and I find myself going through his reviews now. Really comprehensive reviews and informative from a non biased opinion. Was using gameranx but they seem to review from a personal enjoyment perspective which means style of games they like (looter shooters for example) get a head start in the review department. ACG uses enjoyment from a neutral stance and reviews games as a full product and it makes for a much more detailed and rounded review, really good stuff man thanks for the videos.
I get everything you are saying. I do. But your comment just goes to show just how ignorant consumers are. This game was made by a studio that is much smaller than a studio like rockstar. And what they put out is pretty damn impressive all things considered. When good games like this go unnoticed, dogshit like current EA titles get shat out.

Easily one of the best games of 2019 for me... the first few hours left me unsure, but the story suprised me and the gameplay loop was moorish - visuals on 4k tv ps4 pro blew my mind! Cant believe how far games have come along graphically!

The tech issues could be addressed to some extent with patches. The complaint about the gunplay not being great could be intentional. He's not supposed to be an elite military commando. I was eagerly anticipating this game for the reasons that he listed as strengths of the game, so I'm probably going to be satisfied with it.

The gunplay and ai issues are NOT minor but yeah it's still a good game.
For those wanting to get the game now, you'll be happy to know that the only technical issues I ever found so far (thanks to the latest patch and QoL changes) are the enemies (and fewer crows) that sometimes struggle to move around walls.
For anyone worried about technical problems. Patch 1.4 seems to have fixed alot of the reported problems. I'm around 10 hours in and not seen a single "glitch" yet. Loving the game
The way the story flows is unlike any other open world game I have ever played. I was never bored which I have never played an open world that didn’t eventually bore me in some way.
As a huge fan of Sons of Anarchy and Walking Dead, this is a must buy. Bugs don't bother me that much, I think there is definitely enough content to be worth 60 bucks.
Well the thing with any games nowadays is that it has to get reviewed before the day 1 patch. Not saying the game will suddenly become bug free, BUT as it's usually the case with any game, the day 1 patch does fix a decent amount of stuff. Remains to be seen how many things will be fixed this time around, but I doubt the bugs will be as numerous as reviewers had it.
I had SOA in my tv series backlog for several years now, but I started watching it recently to coincide with this game's release and I have to say it's the main reason I'm so hyped for it.
I'm on episode 3 of the 6th season, and it's such a great show that I'm going to be very sad when it ends. But at least I'll have Days Gone to keep the biker theme going for a while longer hahaha
I got the special edition, and knowing Sony the game will be patched into a solid state in a couple of months so I'm not worried in the least.

I just finished this game yesterday, and sweet Jesus. I haven't properly cried in a video game since The Last of Us. By the 3/4 the game hits you with feels after feels, I must have nearly cried at least 7 times throughout, no joke. Narratively this is right up there. I forgave the frame drops, the minor bugs and wonky shooting because the story alone was so moving, I'm very happy I played this. Fuck what the critics say they're biased anyway.
Unfortunately, I'm a sucker for zombies. If it has zombies, it's a buy for me.

Dee Jones it’s alright. 4 man co-op. Difficulty is fairly high but is mainly dependent on your level. Definitely requires teamwork. The 5v5 is meh.

I don’t get why people think The Last Of Us’ gameplay isn’t that great. Everyone must have been playing it on the easiest difficulty. Because on Grounded difficultly, it’s the most intense and rewarding combat I have ever seen in a game.

Syphon Filter was a solid series. I am hoping for either a remaster or a new game as well to close out the series.

I recently played this game. I loved it. An easy 9/10. Most technical issues have been solved including pop-in and fps. Hopefully we get a sequel. If you don't have it, GET IT!
I've played it last year on PC and man is this a good game. Even story wise I'm really into it. Sadly I've read that there is no sequel planed as the sales didn't meet expectations.
Wait for sale? I really really enjoyed this game, so much so it is now my favourite open world game. Just got the plat after 80+ of gameplay.
That's why reviews are subjective. It's an individuals take on it. It's brilliant if you enjoy it - but when someone can back up why they don't, it's valid perspective!

Never heard of this channel. Honest review, doesn’t waste time with stupid jokes/edits, actually buys the game so he’s not able to be called out for any kind of bias. Really great, I intend to come back for my game recs.
I had no intention on buying this game when it came out because I was very skeptical of hype train this time and watching acg only solidifies my decision. I'll pick it up in six or seven months I'm sure.
Acg is the best reviewer of games and I trust his judgment implicitly.
