The wind thing is so smart .. I remember when I played witcher 3, the majority of the game I was looking at the minimap in the top right and not focussing enough on the world itself ..
Same with me. Its my default in most games to look at the mini map in the corner than the world. Ghost of tsushima is going to take me out of that comfort zone and I'm both excited and a little tentative because of it 😂
When i realised how much i stared at the map in the witcher three i hated myself. Its still in my top five games of all time with dlc included .

I remember I wtached a youtube video of a guy suggesting to go to skellige, turn off the hud completely from the settings and go around exploring .. was a great experience, cause I actually was IN the game and exploring..

Many people praised spider-man game, I played it and unfortunately it wasn’t my cup of tea. That doesn’t mean the game sucks at all, so you see it is all down to your taste of whether the game is good or not.
August Ster oh no, this game is perfect for me. I just wanted to know where this other guy is coming from. A rich open world that pays homage to classic samurai cinema paired with robust game mechanics and a compelling narrative, oh yeah it’s gonna be a good one.
The back to back “bug” isn’t a bug it’s their way of defending each other when your legend grows and you are known as the ghost it’s to stop you sneaking up on them

This world is no more 'alive, fun to traverse' or filled with 'fun activities and quests' than Ubisoft's games. Actually it's worse in most of those areas. People like the combat, the setting, the story and graphics. Not how 'alive' this game is.

I miss the days when games were created as rich art instead of just cash cows. Definately getting this for the sake of my dying sanity.

I hope more developers pay attention to this game, it proves that you dont need the best of the best graphics to have the best looking game. The game has average textures and character models but the game is beautiful because of how much attention the developers gave to the map.

personally i think it looks too much like an indie game. its extremely picturesque and its very hard on my eyes it hard to focus.

@@etmon. I noticed that too. My eyes were killing me in some spots. I had to swap from 4K TV to my monitor and somehow that made it a bit softer on my eyes
@@troymoseley7205 It's times like that when motion blur done correctly can really really help. If you are moving it would help soften edges but when you stand still the image can remain sharp. Pretty much how your eyes work. I think though it has more to do with the amount of particles on screen. My monitor produces a much nicer image than the 4k TV I also played on. It's to be expected though. A 66 inch screen compared to a 27 inch which has significantly higher pixel density. Games just look better. This whole upscaled 4k bullshit just doesn't do it for me. I'd prefer 1080p and 60fps with well done filters over some fake 4k, over sharpened image.
This game is amazing nonetheless though.
The best music transition in game is when you exit the forest on your horse for the first time alone. That build up, the intensity pitched just right, you could feel it and I absolutely love that. Especially with headphone settings.

my favorite part about it so far is that everything just feels intuitive. I find myself getting to things and places that I need to get to without even need to look at the map or search around too much. The world just kind of leads me everywhere I need and want to go

I love that this guy takes his time in the review. 20 minutes to review a large game seems right, not FOUR minutes.
Yep. And it's not just fluff, either. Most reviews gloss over the sound and music, and they'll maybe talk a bit about graphical fidelity. Karak goes in on all of it, and I absolutely love it. He'll talk about minor gripes that some may or may not notice, but he makes sure to keep the review as objective as possible.

Ah you mentioned Second Son and it brings back memories. I was pretty depressed with work and study at that moment. I remember picking up that game on a Friday evening and just spent the whole night playing and finished the game around 3AM. Thankfully I'm in a much better place now and I'm looking forward to playing this game.
I was playing AC: Odyssey just before playing this game.
Ghost loads fast! Odyssey was a ton of loading, yet Ghost is faster and amazing to look at as well!

With the patch for Ghost, they actually increased load times on purpose to give you time to read the tips on the loading screen
Love both games honestly.
Different games, different devs. Different game engines too, obviously. Its probably the reason behind the unskipable cutscenes. Its how they hid load times in Infamous: Second Son. Not to mention as well that the game was developed for one console, and released at the end of the current gen. They've definitely put considerable time into making the load times quick.

I feel origins was great. If they moved it away from the assassins creed series and made it it’s own game, along with odyssey it would make way more sense. Valhalla looks completely different from both of them, I don’t really think this can be compared to it
So far this is better than a lot of the past Assassin's Creed games. I'll be surprised if Valhalla is even decent honestly.
Most of the "negative feedback" on this game so far sounds like things they can patch. Remember "Days Gone" on day 1 lol it was a huge mess but they (eventually) patched the majority of the issues.
But the first impression is the first thing that matters when buying something
I'm excited for this game and am eventually gonna get it, but one thing I wish looked a little better are the animations. Walking and running looks a little stiff and static to me.

They have the "Kurosawa" filter. His movies are almost certainly their primary influence. I believe one filmmaker described Kurosawa as "a man of extreme weather" which he agreed to. Because of this he seemed to have a particular affinity for the wind, presumably because it was dynamic, and has the potential to kick up in almost any exterior scene. So like with bullet time, Max Payne, and John Woo movies, it's just a natural extensions of style transfer to find a way to incorporate that aesthetic into gameplay.

Okay so i didn't really see any comments on this or really here you bring this up so i'm only here to give some history.
Ghost of Tsushima if you are-unaware or uneducated on Japanese History-is based on the First of Two Mongolian Invasions of the Northern Kyushu Archipelago by the Kublai Khan of the Yuan Dynasty from 1274 and 1281. The Khan's plan was to Conquer Northern Kyushu in order to secure a direct route to mainland Japan, that just so happened to be right after the Korean kingdom of Goryeo to Vassaldom's submission to the Kublai Khan.
So for those of you who didn't know that part about this game now you do, and please no take this the wrong way i'm only trying to spread a wider message because this is a major event that has gone unrecognized for FAR too long

As always it feels 100% honest and I like the fact that a game although it has some flaws can be a game that you recommend buying, it says tons of the positive aspects of the game. It went from a "I don't know if this is for me" to a "I really wanna play this" within 21 minutes of video. I'll see if I have the time and money to get into this one on friday but consider my interest peaked, and as always keep o doing what you are doing, it helps us all a ton!
The slient nature of the charactor is due to the reserve of the japanese themselves. They are an island people, and that goes in hand with the island status. A lot of americans do not like this or understand it. For example the British are reserved as well, so when they do not react, the american think he is or she is being arrogant, not so.

Great video as always. I do have some minor complains about this game when I played it and I want to share them. First is the control schemes. I was so used to be able to rebind the keys or at least be able to choose from multiple options. It took me a bit to get used to the parry button being L1. And I do wish they add in some pre-armor/charms set or build-set options. It took Ubisoft about a year to add the function to save an armor in odyssey and it works beautifully. I was getting really tired to have to swap my charms every time I swap to a different armor, cause why equips a melee charm when you were doing stealth missions. But overall, one of the best game I have ever played.

Man, I still haven't played Doom Eternal. And I played the first Doom this year and absolutely LOVED it. I was thinking of doing a whole Id Software marathon but Ghost of Tsushima's launch was going to inevitably cut that off.

I loved TLOU2. I loved Ghost of Tsushima. One was one of the most emotional games I’ve ever played and was an absolute technical powerhouse, and one was one of the most fun and satisfying games I’ve ever played. I’ve never seen any TLOU2 fan hating on Ghost of Tsushima. This is a strawman.

I'm always surprised to hear people so critical of Infamous: Second Son. I loved the Infamous games, and Second Son was amazing.

Same! it was so fun. It was one of my first PS4 games and still one of my favorites. I love the movement & abilities in it.
No matter what the try-hard anti-diversity militia would say about this: it was cool to see an indigenous protagonist. Seattle, inaccurate though it was, is a similarly under-utilized setting, as are most American cities, (hell most cities period) and complimentary to the Delsin's background. The graphics are still some of the best that I've ever seen, altogether anyway. It was a lot of fun to play, the power set was unique for a superhero game, and it even has a pretty awesome cover of a Nirvana track, for what that's worth. - _Eeeeven_ still, if someone asked me, "Hey what was the story about?" I'd just say "Um... uh..." for two minutes, and then forget what I was supposed to be thinking about and go make a snack. It doesn't help that the binary morality system fad was alway extremely silly.

I gotta admit, I was also a lot less interested in the powers I acquired later on in Second Son, than I was in the ones I got first. But his wannabe Banksy routine was also... _pretty_ cool... Yeah, that's pretty much every thought I had on it.

But I like to wait for your reviews so it looks like you influenced my decision(I have no doubts the pre-orders go up when you review a good game before it's launch). Which, you do influence my choices, by the way. You're one of few reviewers I actually trust. I just already knew I wanted this as soon as it was announced. Great review!
Based on this review, bought the game and now finished it and I’ve got the platinum trophy too. Excellent title but one MEGA thing you didn’t discuss and warrants a whole video about.....LOAD TIMES!!!!! Like wtf insane fast load times!!! How!?!?!?!
