RE Engine is one of the best engines right now on the market, my laptop is showing its age but it was able to run the demo without hiccups. I seriously hope Capcom would consider to let other devs use their engine in the same way Unity or Unreal does.
I agree. Phenomenal engine, and if they don't license it out I'd like them to oversee other devs reworking titles Capcom may not do, such as the Outbreak series.
Also imagine a Parasite Eve remake on the RE engine... One can dream.

RE4 has been released an infinite amount of times on everything but a toaster, but wouldn’t it be interesting if RE4 was remade with the new RE Engine? After a remake of RE3 and Code Veronica, of course. I’m seeing Leon in this game now and can’t help but see him in a leather wool jacket fighting ganados and chainsaw maniacs...

This is not far off from RE4. The camera system still shifts dramatically when you get grabbed and the game takes 100% control away from you until the movie animation ends.

Summary
Damned good with a few issues here and there(finicky HDR) lots of new content but a couple removed enemies. As for time it took me. Its going to be all over the place for how long it takes people I think but overall. An excellent remake.

I want a dino crisis remake it would look amazing if it was remade at this level. I'm drooling a bit just thinking about it. Dino crisis was deffo my fav capcom game.
Haunting Grounds and Shadow of Rome are pretty good too.
@@lowerclassbrats77 I havnt played them. The only capcom games I have played are resident evil 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, zero, operation raccoon city, code veronica, revelations 1, 2, dino crisis 1, 2 and unfortunately dino crisis 3 but I pretend it didn't happen.

ACG replaced Totalbiscuit for me when he became unable to continue his work. Its great having someone who cares about PC and performance, plus I gotta admit i'm also biased and somewhat audio focused, so its a nice happy accident that interests align here.

@@ACGreviews IGN reviewed this game for only scenario A. The reviewer only played half the game. He finished Leon/Claire - A and then instead of doing scenario B, he went for Claire/Leon - A and then gave a negative for the game because it was repetitive and for locking content behind different playthroughs, when it was just him who fucked up.
Unfortunately more people will check out IGN's half-assed review than yours. I hope you get more recognition for the high quality work.
For any budget PC gamers like me, the game runs between 50-60fps even on a 1050. The optimization and extensive feature control is fantastic so to be honest, I'm sure you could runs this on even older hardware.
I have AMD Phenom II X6 1090T @ 3.6GHZ, 8GB Ram and a 1060GTX 3gb, plays like a fucking dream.
Haven't been excited for a game in fucking YEARS !

Remake = entirely new mesh assets and programmed from the ground up with an in house or 3rd party engine.
Remastered = same application, just with higher resolution textures, high polygon mesh etc.

It's not always that way anymore, there's really more then just remakes and remasters now, more like 4. Like a Remake that stays true to the old game, or a Remake that's completly different but keeps a few of the same things as the original.

So after sinking about 6hrs into the full game last night... I can say without a shadow of a doubt this game is fucking amazing... I don't really care for single player games and would have generally avoided this. However I mistakenly thought it was coop bought it and WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED.. except the fact is wasn't coop of course lol

The original came out when I was in middle school and was the first game that ever really scared me. So much so I used to play with the sound and music muted and would play the radio just cause the sound design was so unnerving for me then. Bought the remake last night and not gonna lie, the manliest of tears came manly rolling down my face. This was almost 20 yrs in the making for me. Thank you Capcom for showing the original respect with this game.

The damn nostalgia alone pumps my blood. The remake being actually well produced makes it even more exciting...
The most soothing sound in video game history was the piano music when you found a safe room after being on edge....

Silent Hill redone in this engine would be amazing. More so than Dino Crisis IMO
I played the original about 100 times. Can't wait to get my hands on this once I get paid after the government shutdown. Edit: This wasn't meant to start a whole thing about who is to blame. It is what it is and I'm still doing my job. Pay is delayed, but will come.

Picked this up for $15 last week at a retail chain. I would say by the end of the opening cutscenes and the first area you control Leon I got my $15 worth. Impressive

This, MK11, Judgement, and DOOM: Eternal are currently my most anticipated games of the year. So glad to see 2019 is off to a great start with RE2 looking like it's living up to the hype. This is one of the best remakes I've had the pleasure of playing honestly.
@Sweedish I did. A lot. It is a great remake that I've been asking for for like 17 years. Sure there is no fixed cameras or pre rendered backgrounds - but it's pretty faithful.
Resident Evil 2 is a prime example of what a remake should be. The game was rebuilt from the ground up and it clearly shows in the final product. Visually, this is easily the best looking Resident Evil title to date. Character models, enemies and the various environments are nicely detailed. Texture work is exceptional for the most. The game's audio is pretty good. Voice acting is actually impressive, which is rare for a Resident Evil game. I absolutely love the atmosphere, setting and level design. Movement, aiming and combat are very smooth. I'll definitely be picking Resident Evil 2 as soon as I can. Thanks Karak once again for another high quality review. You are the best reviewer on TH-cam. Keep up the great work!
Eh, the Resident Evil 1 remake is what I'd consider to be a better remake.

Also with the sound (I haven't played this), but from what was shown in this and mentioned, the zombies get up even if you shoot at their heads etc, doesn't it make little more sense to have the weapons sounding little more on the weak side then big BOOM/BAM sound if it's not having much impact on the enemy?

10:51 u're right but personally i think that it sounds more like the og gunshots in ps1 resident evil, that sound makes me feel that my gun is weak so it kinda adds to the tension, i loved it in the demo
I'd argue that the tinny sound of the smaller weapons is intentional, considering that you can headshot a zombie multiple times and they might get back up, while the heavy weapons are more of an absolute problem solver, hence the increased gravity.
Enjoyed this so much I went straight out and bought Resident Evil 7
