S R I mean they could’ve gotten with Steam to sell. Now they’re going to be missing out on revenue from the first year because no one wants to buy something off a shitty company.
I read about this game a couple of times never really into lovecraft. But after seeing multiple videos around this game and twitch streams. I'm really into this clunky atmospheric game with a big and beautiful open world were everything looks handcrafted! I'm definitely buying this when it's on sale.
When I first saw the title, I didn't think you can make a lovecraftian world with a detective as it's main character, since the whole cuthulu/eldergod mythos heavily relies on mystery. I saw the first hour of gameplay, and I honestly think they might have done it. Well, at least I hope they did, we will see :D
I've played this game non-stop on my day off. There's strategic planning to most of the game but there's a consistent way of farming loot by going into marked buildings which kinda sucks a bit but its not game breaking. I haven't felt uncomfortable from playing a horror game in quite a while since most only have cheap scares. There were many moments in the storyline that had me hesitating from progressing further because of what you see throughout the game.
About 10 hours in . Love it . Great detective system , creppy , crazy , distusting and teryfing world as it should be . Some yank and tech issues which was partialy fixed with the patch today .
I’ve been waiting for this game for a year now, and as both an avid gamer and a proper Lovecraftian, I will admit this game has certain issues, most of which were addressed in the video. One major problem I have with Lovecraft games, is that many of the games follow variants of three different stories; mainly Shadows over Innsmouth. I haven’t beat the game but I am pretty sure I know where this game is going and how it is going to end. This happens too often. This game while I am enjoying it greatly, feels like another rehash of Shadows, and an alternate telling of the Call of Cthulhu game recently released; good game by the way.
If anyone likes HP Lovecraft, watch the movie AM1200. Quick short movie around 45 minutes that hits upon HP Lovecraft greatly. Also, I want to buy this game, but if it's an Epic Exclusive, hard pass.
That scene when you investigate the crimes of the past with the handprints completely covering the walls actually forced me to look away. It’s the fish eye effect from the Witcher 3 dialed up to fifty, and makes me feel like my eyes are gonna explode.
This looks like a Lovecraftian version of LA Noire. That game also had shooting mechanics that were just adequate. Which is fine as long the star of the show the crime solving mechanics are as good as they should be, looks like a solid game.
rforrestg On the other hand, I’m glad Steam is seeing competition and even hurting. Valve hasn’t given us a game in way too long. Half-Life 2 is why I’m on Steam. But why be loyal when it seems they only care about cold business at this point. I’m exclusively GOG these days, but look forward to when Valve excites the industry again.
I think this game worth to check out. I really enjoyed this game. Yes the fight glitches and more variety or npc and sound mutch better but still one of the best lovecraft game out there. I bought for around 10€ in ps store it was really worth that price.
Love the idea of pinning objects you find to a map! And live there’s an option that doesn’t hold your hand like you are basically watching a movie play out! We need a GREAT investigation game set in a real open world.
despite knowing nothing about Cthulhu and the game apparently having issues, I really like the look of it and i wanna give it a play on ps4 after a price drop and some patches.. awesome review as always, Karak
3:31 "Where sprinting through the city results in you meeting a bunch of characters that look like they all got dunked on in the genetics ball game" Christ that's a good line.
Thanks for the review, I am waiting on my code to turn up, but I still love the look of this game and even though they reached for the heart of Cuthulu world I think they got pretty close and time will most likely fix the issues, theses guys were pretty quick to fix all their Sherlock games when something went belly up in them. Can't wait to play it
Karak you got hands down the best reviews! I have been wanting to play this game for the more "hardcore" investigation mechanics and today I picked the game up for 15 bucks and I love it! Thanks for the amazing work you put into your content!
Loved the review as always, and cannot wait to pick it up! Been waiting a long time for this one. Thanks for all of the effort, time and hard work that you put into your reviews. They're always a treat. However, funny aside, in Bethesda's and Ubisofts earlier days, they put out a game called Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth. And if you let your character go insane, or didn't really pay attention to it, he would literally put the gun up to his temple, shoot himself, and then you'd have to start from your last save. So not the first game to do it, but SO glad they included it.
Dude you mentioned Eternal Darkness. Don't make me undust my GameCube. I'll have all my chores undone if I do that. Dangerous console. The best library of all time! Back when games were released thoroughly tested, bug-free day one! Cool review. May I suggest you speak just a little slower? It might give your listeners more time to absorb what's being said.
@@radarphaser Not really, it all depends on how they licensed Unreal 4, Epic may not get a cut of sales but got an upfront payment. So buying it on PS4 doesn't support epic specifically. They definitely get a cut of sales on the Epic Store. If there are no sales for the PC port it'll still give a clear message to the publishers about the exclusivity practice. Buying it on console is a way to still support the developers and these types of games. No sales at all won't be blamed on Epic, it will be blamed on the game itself

this was a day one buy for me in till they sold out to Epic, now ill likely forget it exist by the time its on steam
S R I mean they could’ve gotten with Steam to sell. Now they’re going to be missing out on revenue from the first year because no one wants to buy something off a shitty company.
Support the Monopoly that doesn't give a shit about you.
the player movements are weird
I mean, it's not just like today standard
just compare it with yakuza Kiwami 2 and Witcher 3 movements
Frank Ricard Alexander Witcher 3 player movements are terrible, tf?
@@Thrillkilled He meant the movements look outdated compared to Kiwami 2 and Witcher 3.
The movements also remind me of Vampyr, but despite the weird looking run, I really enjoyed it.
Really does look (visually) like Vampyr but obviously in a pretty different setting + there’s daylight.
Playing this on Switch. The perfect game to experience in bed late at night. The city is so visually appealing and interesting to explore.
How has it been? I just got it for like 18 dollars
Thanks for the review. I get all my Epic exclusives from TPB, so the low quality isn't really an issue.
Bruh ACG blurs out objective notifications to avoid spoilers, smh thats amazing !
Really want this to be a good experience so I'll wait for a few patches and a drop in price
The different voice actors reminds me of Fallout New Vegas's "Lateer"
*memories of oliver swanick*
I read about this game a couple of times never really into lovecraft. But after seeing multiple videos around this game and twitch streams. I'm really into this clunky atmospheric game with a big and beautiful open world were everything looks handcrafted! I'm definitely buying this when it's on sale.
best reviewer on youtube hands down
When I first saw the title, I didn't think you can make a lovecraftian world with a detective as it's main character, since the whole cuthulu/eldergod mythos heavily relies on mystery. I saw the first hour of gameplay, and I honestly think they might have done it. Well, at least I hope they did, we will see :D
What a positive surprise. Beyond what I expected
Waiting for my Amazon copy to arrive today! Thanks Karak for the review :)
Dark Symphony I’m assuming you’ve played....is there a decent amount of action? Story good? And do you have to play chithulu?
Hearing these intros, it really makes me wish this is how I started my book reports back in school....
Frogwares fan. Will definitely pick this up.
If anyone likes HP Lovecraft, watch the movie AM1200. Quick short movie around 45 minutes that hits upon HP Lovecraft greatly. Also, I want to buy this game, but if it's an Epic Exclusive, hard pass.
When it releases in steam it’ll drop in price. $19.99, Called it.
That scene when you investigate the crimes of the past with the handprints completely covering the walls actually forced me to look away. It’s the fish eye effect from the Witcher 3 dialed up to fifty, and makes me feel like my eyes are gonna explode.
You already know my mans is out here supplying the people with the reviews they need. Proud of you.
This looks like a Lovecraftian version of LA Noire. That game also had shooting mechanics that were just adequate. Which is fine as long the star of the show the crime solving mechanics are as good as they should be, looks like a solid game.
Not buying because epic, but still watching the whole video because ACG
rforrestg On the other hand, I’m glad Steam is seeing competition and even hurting. Valve hasn’t given us a game in way too long. Half-Life 2 is why I’m on Steam. But why be loyal when it seems they only care about cold business at this point.
I’m exclusively GOG these days, but look forward to when Valve excites the industry again.
@@jon4715 This isn't competition, at all.
That's nice, thanks for keeping us informed.
@@ThriceAsLong And as a consumer, I prefer to spend my cash on DRM-free products.
And it is competition. It's how the economy works.
I like that ya blur the mission details as to not spoil for us. Noice touch.
Ohhh im glad you got a review out. Gonna take your advice and wait.
despite knowing nothing about Cthulhu and the game apparently having issues, I really like the look of it and i wanna give it a play on ps4 after a price drop and some patches.. awesome review as always, Karak
I'm enjoying the gameplay enough but the performance (Xbox X) is horrendous. Patches needed but the game is pretty solid throughout
3:31 "Where sprinting through the city results in you meeting a bunch of characters that look like they all got dunked on in the genetics ball game" Christ that's a good line.
Thanks bro I was going to give this a miss because I am getting judgement.
it sounds like it'll be worth a buy if they can patch out some of the nagging technical issues.
Thanks for the review, I am waiting on my code to turn up, but I still love the look of this game and even though they reached for the heart of Cuthulu world I think they got pretty close and time will most likely fix the issues, theses guys were pretty quick to fix all their Sherlock games when something went belly up in them. Can't wait to play it
I'm interested in any walking the walk. It's my favorite series of yours.
I second that request.
What?
It would be great if he could interview the devs.
Karak you got hands down the best reviews! I have been wanting to play this game for the more "hardcore" investigation mechanics and today I picked the game up for 15 bucks and I love it! Thanks for the amazing work you put into your content!
"Derr da derr." -ACG LMAO! I love it, as always.
0:34 Me standing to attention when seeing ACG review notification.
So this game takes inspiration from Murdered: Soul Suspect. That game was short but beautiful too.
10:59 one of the rare times when Karak laughs during a review
Dude you mentioned Eternal Darkness. Don't make me undust my GameCube. I'll have all my chores undone if I do that. Dangerous console. The best library of all time! Back when games were released thoroughly tested, bug-free day one!
Cool review. May I suggest you speak just a little slower? It might give your listeners more time to absorb what's being said.
>Epic
Never touch then..
Guess it'll just get it on console
why is that?
It's coming to steam just not until next year so we will get the post patches and fixes version
@@light819 fuck the studio regardless, I ain't supporting that exclusivity bullshit.
That's what I felt like this one was a wait for a sale. Thanks for confirming that! 👍
Wanted to get this for PC but I won't support Epic exclusives, so I guess I'll get this for PS4
You’re still supporting Epic buy giving these shills money
I won’t be buying it period, I won’t support companies that tell the gamer to go fuck himself.
Gwynbleidd Roach Epic told you that? I’m so sorry
I'm definitely picking this on the ps4 as well. This game is right up my alley.
That's a hell yeah for an in-depth look at The Sinking City from me!
I guess it's a good thing Amazon sold it to me for like $50ish instead of the full $64.
Instant gaming has it for $36 if you really want this game. Even at that price this is a pass for me. Looks awful.
@@grundged to each their own, but i like to keep the number of websites i put my credit card on to a minimum.
You are thorough AF. Thanks!
I just snagged this game for £26. Presuming that's a decent price to buy the game at? Considering it isn't out yet.
PsychixBeats how'd you get it that cheap
Man you give some very detailed review and I really like your voice too
Never find this good a review elsewhere
7:11 Why does the main character sound like a bad impersonation of Raycevick?
Deioth
He’s Jack Walters.
Oh shit
Sounds all too familiar
It's almost mandatory now for Lovecraft games to be janky. If the story and gameplay are as great as you say though I'm keen as for it.
