En fait, ce concerto a été composé par un dénommé Pip Halvorsen ;
il voulait le dédier à son héroïne, sa douce bien-aimée Karine.
Hélas, une balle perdue dans une rue de Bergen, lors du Deuxième Grand Conflit Mondial, mit fin à l'existence de Karine. Et Pip, ayant mis un terme à ses jours dans la même journée, ne pouvant se résoudre à un chagrin aussi immense, ne put de ce fait orchestrer ce concerto !
C'est un de ses descendants qui en a fait l'orchestration.

Amazing discovery ! Halvorsen must have been an incredible violinist. This is so beautiful, beautifully orchestrated and enjoyable, yet succinct and to the point without a lot of unnecessary padding and fluff. As if Mozart had edited Tchaikovsky. Wonderful find!

Something like a Norwegian Max Bruch concerto (in key and allover form), a tremendous discovery! Especially arresting the Adagio and Finale. Let us wish it a bright future!

I was present at the work's resurrection premiere at the Risør Festival last summer (2016), and could not help finding the "Halling" finale just a shade too fast. Here, in the recording, I think it is just right!
