I liked how unique and different Zhou Xun's (Ruyi actress) style looked. Compared to the other women on the show, Ruyi's dresses were tight fitting with rich and vivid colours, and her makeup and headdress as a noble consort were majestic. It certainly helped that Zhou Xun mastered the gracefully dainty and feminine postures and movements that compliment her role as Ruyi in the series.

And the terror of almost drowning, have you experienced that? And from what I have seen, all these characters are pretty horrible, they are imprisoned together and step on each other and the ones beneath them, so I do not think this empress is better ... it is all just making them unpleasant, and bad, and worse.

Mei wanted to destroy the Empress mentally and succeeded. After all, the one weakness these women had in common was their children. The Empress was lucky she was drowning. Consider the punishment she could've endured for affecting the Royal bloodline she got off easy. It was obvious the Emperor was unwilling to punish her at all because of her clan. You're wrong. Some characters like Ruyi and Shu fought against other players and didn't victimise the innocent. Some players were forced to take drastic steps just to survive because they were personally victimised by the Empress. And of course there were others like Jia, Yanwan and Empress Fuca who wanted to consolidate their own power. Nothing wrong with wanting to become the Empress Dowager in future, but they used cruel, inhuman tactics. They hurt the innocent.
The weirdo forced her to do unspeakable things in bed, beat her, humiliated her, even seemed to be using some sort of hot iron or cigarettes on her body. When it was found out the empress blamed Lixin because she wasn't able to control her husband. She wasn't sorry at all, she was angrier that it was found out because she's worried of what the emperor would think while knowing full well she has used Lixin to spy on the emperor. She even spewing hate towards Lixin behind her back.
