I’ve recently watched up to episode 6 or 7 (I forget) after watching clips like these. I’m amazed at how much of a doormat she was in those early episodes! I'm looking forward to watching this character develop into what we saw in this clip (and some other clips)!

It's scenes like these that I wish the Cold Palace still existed. That would've been satisfying to see her thrown in there as a commoner. And props to her acting, one of my favorite actresses.

The actress, Xin Zhilei, who played Jia is my favorite actress in the show. Jia is a complicated character with great depth Miss Xin has amazing range and chops. I bet she had a great time in this show!

You get to do all the things you can never bring yourself to do in real life, say the sort of stupid things you'd never truly say to the people around you, and there are no real consequences because it's all make believe! Also it's much easier to surpass people's expectations because you're better than the character you portrayed by default, hahaha

you see, that idea couldn’t stay in the long run because the king needs to have multiple women in order to keep peace between nations but also in case his only kids die off. He’ll have a higher chance of a surviving successor if he were to have multiple kids with multiple women. But there has been stories where the king didn’t want more women, but they are forced to by the government officials in order to continue the “royal” bloodline
My heart broke for Yongcheng. All of those times that he told her (Jia) to chill out, every time she was plotting, just shows that he never really was in the same mind as his mother. He seemed to have a good relationship with his brothers as well and truly didn't care that much about attaining the emperor position. She really sabotaged her children. Btw I LOVE the actress who plays Jia. She's extremely talented and gorgeous. I also enjoy the shade she throws haha and the sarcastic tones in her voice. Too funny!!

Basically, she has spent her entire adult life clawing her way into power, to benefit the cruel swine who sold her like a whore. Which makes it really interesting that "whore" is the insult Jia flings around the most. All the harem women were expected to promote their families but Jia's being pimped out by the man she loved was particularly heinous.
