Her son was actually quite smart and could’ve been much more had she raised him properly. In the end, she brought him down with her, which could’ve been avoided so many times. Great acting. 🙌🏻
Everyone’s talking about Jia guifei-but what about Yongcheng? He may be a cocky spoiled brat, but he was also just a victim in his mother’s schemes. Him and his brothers are pitiful for having a mother like that.
I agree, poor thing. He was just a pawn from the moment he was conceived. The children are the ones who suffer and pay for the malicious actions for greed and power that parents crave.

I’ve recently watched up to episode 6 or 7 (I forget) after watching clips like these. I’m amazed at how much of a doormat she was in those early episodes! I'm looking forward to watching this character develop into what we saw in this clip (and some other clips)!

But that shows you, just because someone chooses not to do harm doesn't mean, they aren't capable..or should I say even more deviant than you....never push the "weak"...because they will come back 10 times harder on you!
It's scenes like these that I wish the Cold Palace still existed. That would've been satisfying to see her thrown in there as a commoner. And props to her acting, one of my favorite actresses.
Jia fei is very good actor, her hand gets stuck in the door 😲😲😲
Behind the scenes for that one was brutal. It was an accident but the actress carried on anyway and made the scene so visceral and awesome.

The actress, Xin Zhilei, who played Jia is my favorite actress in the show. Jia is a complicated character with great depth Miss Xin has amazing range and chops. I bet she had a great time in this show!
Plus she is gorgeous man❤

You get to do all the things you can never bring yourself to do in real life, say the sort of stupid things you'd never truly say to the people around you, and there are no real consequences because it's all make believe! Also it's much easier to surpass people's expectations because you're better than the character you portrayed by default, hahaha

@@user-ix1rp9ff3p To be fair though, a lot of his children were killed by the other harem women anyway. Literally just Consort Ling did QUITE a bit of killing and that's just one of her cause first Empress, Huixian, etc. did so as well. With less women comes less children but also less chaos.

you see, that idea couldn’t stay in the long run because the king needs to have multiple women in order to keep peace between nations but also in case his only kids die off. He’ll have a higher chance of a surviving successor if he were to have multiple kids with multiple women. But there has been stories where the king didn’t want more women, but they are forced to by the government officials in order to continue the “royal” bloodline

There is an earlier clip, where she gets maudlin and talks about before she was sent to the Forbidden City, and she had a serious crush on the prince of her people, whom she always refers to as 'the lord'. She still believes that they were going to be married but he chose instead to give her as tribute to the Emperor (the current Emperor's father), thereby breaking her heart. Being a self-serving b*stard he convinced her that she can show her love for him by gaining Imperial favor and then using it to benefit the Yu clan.
Basically, she has spent her entire adult life clawing her way into power, to benefit the cruel swine who sold her like a whore. Which makes it really interesting that "whore" is the insult Jia flings around the most. All the harem women were expected to promote their families but Jia's being pimped out by the man she loved was particularly heinous.
