When my lil brother and I played marvel 3 and if either of us pulled a x factor 3 comeback, on all 3 characters x. We'd pop off and yell, " you just got wonged bitch"!!!.
Justin is one of the many reasons why I'm so passionate about fighting games. He's had so many comebacks and clutch pulls he's really built on another level. Loving the new content from this channel.
Man I was so lucky to have been there at Evo 2014 to watch Justin win. The energy was something different. I think the craziest thing about marvel 3 is there has never been a repeat Evo champ and it's cool to have seen Justin 's win in person.
14:51 I fucking knew it! I remember vividly Chris repeatedly utterly demolishing Justin during the year in multiple tournaments. I always cheered for Justin, I even asked myself why don't just start with Storm, she's clearly the best match against Morrigan. Imagine my surprise watching the Evo final when I realized all those defeats during the season were part of the plan! 4D Chess at its finest. What a great fucking moment, thanks Justin.
Crazy, Justin Wong started his EVO strategy 6 months in advance lol. Only someone who was already used to winning and not happy with recent 2nd places could decide to do. I wonder if anyone else ever did something like that in marvel before justin.
Thank you for this kind of content. Watching anything related to fighting games has always been and will always be one of my passions in life. This content is amazing.
i love how impactful and important that these moments were to Justin. take a look at how he articulates and accurately describes these exact moments. I mean yes, I’m sure he’s watched the VODs many times and even had broken them down to his stream viewers, but still, to remember and be able to describe in such detail tells a lot. 💪🏾🔥
I'm glad we're doing things like this. Documenting the strategies and the tales of the FGC so they aren't lost to time I can remember these moments vividly, and I'm glad others can see this story too
Me and one of my good friends were really into UMvC3 during this era, really glad got to experience it all. Truly one of the most hype eras in gaming in general
justin, always a fond memory of mine when we teamed up for NEC one year with KOyang. Didn't understand it back then, but your mentality is sage. Keep up the great work bro!
So much respect for Justin's dedication and love for this game. All the countless comebacks and moments when he makes Yipes and other commentators go bonkers! Amazing that he did it his way with his non top tiered team. Clever strategy against Chris G lol... It was really cool to see another dedicated hard working player, KBR win it the very next year. Again with a non meta team.
Growing up being born in 89 (boomer story comin), I’d see MvC huge cabinet at the Lazer Star near my house. We’d go there for sports celebration and I’d find myself back at this arcade cabinet. It was so cool controlling Spider-Man and just absolutely asking these buttons and they wouldn’t break. Every time a super came on the screen I’d would have love to see my face. Come to find out as I got older that this game and ones to come after had a lot of love in a community for it. Great video guys!
Justin: The right decision was press a button X factor press a button then dash in for the combo, but he decided to press a button X factor dash in where im able to block now then press a button. Hit Phoenix, Doctor Doom comes out and i get a Happy Birthday! Me: Phoenix Wright is a silly character 🙃
Watching Justin come back in 2014 to win Evo was one of the best times I ever had cheering for someone. I was so excited for Justin. Still feel so much joy any time I think about him winning that year.
J.Wong the fokin legend son. Mount Rushmore of fighting games. And from my home state?! NYC kid from the DA CITY?! China Town Fair HoF?? Much respek to mah chigga. 🗽🐦❤️🙌
I can't wait for the MvC collection to come out and reset FG history, we'll get to the best timeline possible; a full, high quality catalogue of AAAs, AAs and fantastic retro games with good netcode.
I remember when he won, I was so happy he got that EVO win to cement his status as the Marvel God. We figured that if he played top tier characters he probably would have won more years, but he stuck with his team and won. Like Lebron winning in Cleaveland… but better lol
Man it's emotional to think that we might have new FGC moments now w the comeback of marvel2. JWong the GOAT the legend. No cap I'd 💩 myself if I'd have to ply Jwong 😅🤣
When you have to go against a legend in tournament, you just gotta think of them as another player and another stepping stone towards your goal of winning.
I remember when Justin would show up to Chinatown Fair in NYC and dust dudes. Some would literally come all the way there just to watch him play. Wish i woulda talked to him
Back when yipes was really into the game and a hype commentator..he really changed after Persia cheated on him he has a dull look and he isn't the same but great content j Wong I was happy AF when you won evo in 2014 ..keep the game the memories the blood sweat and tears alive it's marvel baby 🎉
is it Chris G? Wong's EVO rival in those days? the player he lost to in his big EVO 2013 heartbreak? I think that's the name. if not, it doesn't matter "Chris G" here just means "Wong's Big Marvel 3 Rival" who he trained all year to beat for 2014. I wonder if Justin dreamt about Chris G. I wonder if he flat out _hated_ Chris G. feared Chris G. the kind of feelings he experienced losing to him ... then set aside the next entire year to defining his skills to the task of beating him? that's intense. that's a one-on-one sporting rivalry that's rare in sports, because the goal of the game is violence. it's the closest thing to boxing or MMA you can get, probably, without risking severe brain damage. and I just wonder what the mental toll was like - what the name "Chris G." (or whatever it actually was) must have started to sound to him after awhile. that competitive and focused mindset is a trip, man. I know the goal is never to hate your opponent, but with a loss as hard as he said 2013 was ... how can you help it?
Justin lost to Flocker in the EVO 2013 Ultimate Marvel 3 Grand Finals, not Chris G. Although Chris G was the best Ultimate Marvel 3 player by tournament results starting around 2013, he also tended to come up short at EVO and didn't manage to win there until 2016 which is when some other Ultimate Marvel 3 greats were training more for the newly arrived Street Fighter 6.
When I think of comebacks, I think of Justin Wong. Never give up
When my lil brother and I played marvel 3 and if either of us pulled a x factor 3 comeback, on all 3 characters x. We'd pop off and yell, " you just got wonged bitch"!!!.
No retreat, no surrender
Absolutely
Let's go Justinn
I think of DSP. No matter what happens he never gives up.
Justin is one of the many reasons why I'm so passionate about fighting games.
He's had so many comebacks and clutch pulls he's really built on another level.
Loving the new content from this channel.
So much respect for someone whose passion for fighting games has been burning for decades….
FGC is something so great !
Love to see it !!

It's like Greg Maddux intentionally giving up a home run to a hitter in the regular season to set him up for a strike out in the offseason.
Crazy, Justin Wong started his EVO strategy 6 months in advance lol. Only someone who was already used to winning and not happy with recent 2nd places could decide to do.
I wonder if anyone else ever did something like that in marvel before justin.
Incredible story. Legendary status. From villain to icon. Justin Wong has cemented himself as one of the GOATs.
Thank you for this kind of content. Watching anything related to fighting games has always been and will always be one of my passions in life. This content is amazing.
Thank you for what you do for the fighting and gaming community Justin

Justin Wong is the god of fighting games. Wished he still entered lots of tournaments.
It's Justin baby! One of the GODS!!
1:17 Shoutouts to Viscant indeed! He was one of the most approachable and likeable people from the entire FGC!
Especially his one-on-one closing comments to LTG when he beat him in that money match 😂

mvc was the heart of the fgc.. we need this game back man..
MvC2 definitely carried the most of FGC on its back for almost all the Dark Ages, basically decade.

The happy birthday against philipino is just pure chaos and that's what makes marvel 3 so awesome
Define comeback- Justin wong’s akuma

This is great 👍
*a true legend in fighting video game history.*
Talk about having passion .. the goat
I was at the floor when he won. It felt like a country who had just defeated a dictator and was now free
EVO has the same feel as The International of Dota. You may have won the Majors, but winning EVO is like lifting the Aegis on TI.
Justin is def the goat of mvc games n it's not even close. Absolutely the most clutchest player of mvc of all time.
The auto subtitles is transforming Marvel vs Capcom 2 to Marn's Kum 2. Thanks google.
Justin is actually peak

Banned from Chinatown Fair is harsh, but a badge of honor for sure
Justin told us that he was banned, but never told us why.
I think it was to give somebody else the chance to win but I’m not sure
To quote a convicted loser: too much winning.
He was too good
Too good
he mentioned it had something to do with getting more people to show up.

If there’s one person you don’t want to face against in a fighting game, it’s Justin wong
