Great video, man. There are some details that i never knew about TVC. I used to play this game in childhood, when i was discovering fighting games, and i loved this one. Good to see this game have a comunity, i also really enjoy his theme song.
One of my favourites in the cross over fighter games. as you mentioned in the video, has TVC not been made, MVC3 would have been a very different game. Thanks for covering the most underrated game in capcoms history. You earned a sub
That’s the legend himself right there, he was best known as the voice of Link from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and one of the Dragon Quest Heroes in Super Smash Bros Ultimate
Excellent video, you nailed all the mechanics and problems right on the head! ALso loved the editing, the fact Roll was the one rolling during the "rolls" part was very smart haha
Alex powerbombing the giant characters is what immediately sold me on this game. That and all the awesome characters i dont know anything about. Would absolutely love to see a tvc3. Also, awesome video, dude. I always see videos of people playing this, and it fascinates me. Really appreciate you doing each character bc there's some you never see anyone play. Instant sub.
Bro that’s so accurate for what you said for zero at 32:47. I never played TVC,but he one of my mains in UMVC3 and you ain’t wrong with that statement.
UMVC3 Zero was better in a lot of ways but his lvl 3 was so much lamer than in TvC, you see it in this video, he stops time and stabs you with a huge energy blade, no lame extra large fireball.
There are very few Tatsunoko characters I care about, but because of this game, at least I got introduced to them and those I did enjoy I watched a bit of with a friend that imported the franchises on Blu-Ray and DVD. I have said for so many years that Tatsunoko vs. Capcom is one of the most underrated fighting games ever. Glad to see others think so as well.
I have heard of this game after more recently getting into fighters and researching past games. But this is the first time I'm realising how good it looks! I mean both visually and how it looks to play. This looks great!!
EDIT: Ah ya mentioned that at the end MvC 3 would not exist as it is without this game. It was pretty much the Beta for MvC as many of the characters and game designs came straight from this one like 3 attack buttons, zero, frank and morrigan. And man I LOVED TEKKAMAN BLADE-O! My brothers hated it because he was broken as hell
Great video! A lot of Tatsunoko shows aired in Latin America back in the day so I was around friends and family who were excited for this game's release, and to this day it's one of my favorite fighting games. It's kinda sad to think I'll never get to run my Tekkaman Blade-Roll team in any other game tho... 💔
29:28 Now I’ll be looking forward to another in-depth video breaking down all the references in the game. Fantastic video - you can really feel the love and attention poured into the game through the way you showcase it
Problem was the game only released stateside on the Wii and the online was unplayable. I kept holding out for a ps3 release that would never come. Hurts especially because i grew up watching Tekkaman blade or "Teknoman" on TV and would later go on to play hundreds of hours of project justice with friends as a Batsu main, so my team is already set lol. Hopefully these upcoming capcom fighting collections will see enough success to warrant them to release this as well. It's now or never guys, make sure to get your copies, if you have any interest in seeing this re-released.
I played this casually in college and one of the first ever fighting game tournaments I attended was for this game. I played Soki and I think one of the hypest moments of the entire tournament was my opposing Alex timing out my install super with his own command grab super to get past all my super armor
I actually love this game! Had Batsu in it on the Capcom side, so the Rival Schools fan in me was like yeah! Then I saw that Casshern, Tekkaman and Karas was in. And I was like ‘no one in the room but me knows’. And that felt cool. I even unlocked all the hidden characters.
I recognize a decent chunk of these characters despite only ever briefly watching Casshern. Wonder why Tatsunoko isn't big in the west considering a few of their characters are pretty iconic.
There is something very interesting about how, for TvC they picked the ORIGINAL Space Knight Tekkaman, the slower of the two protagonist Tekkamen of the franchise; pretty interesting choice too, since I imagine a proper Tekkaman Blade should be speedy as fuck. like, the one line he has about Tekkamen in the show is simple: "Never Underestimate The Speed of a Tekkaman!" with special moves and finishers that emphasize going fast as fuck - like the CRASH INTRUDE! Edit: He was infact in there for the second release! Glorious. AS A FUN FACT, His Cinematic Super move isn't just a Voltekka, it's the BLASTEEER VOLTEKKAAAAAAAAAA - I.E the Ultimate Voltekka of an evolved Tekkaman. A Moved whose SCREAM straight up fucking Broke a Microphone in the recording room iirc
Good video! It's so cool how a game that was pushed out of mainstream years ago not only still has it's fans with an active community to this day, but can also inspire many fighting games to come.
Awesome content! You scripted it well, and are so well spoken! Great job dude! I play this on my “hand cough, held” Wii haha! Never seen this game until last year when I got my… cough cough
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORBITAL SPACE STATION BGM MENTIONED! Got this game for christmas for the GCN. Hadn't ever played a fighting game but got immediately drawn to Tekkaman's insane super damage and Polimar's sick mixups and long (I don't know if it's actually long, it was just the longest one I could perform) strings. And holy shit, I jammed the fuck out to OSS' theme. e: huh, it wasn't released for GCN. Must've misremembered since i only used the GCN controller to play
Dude! I preordered this game and picked it up on my way back from College, as soon as I heard the title song it was a wrap. Easily one of my favorite crossover games of all time and absolutely deserving of a re-release or even sequel
- Years later, Dragon Ball Fighterz did to Marvel Infinite what MVC3 did to TVC. - Back in the early 90s, Mexico aired Gatchaman (known as "G-Force") and Samurai Pizza Cats. Man, the Samurai Pizza cats would've been cool. - Of course I have the Orbital Ring song on my morning drive playlist.
TVC is absolutely underrated. Speaking of other underrated FGs, a favorite FG of mine that is super underrated is Gundam Battle Assault 2. It feels clunky if you don’t know how to play, but it speeds up when you know what you’re doing. There are also 4 giant characters. Since it was PS1, it has no online, so not a lot of people played it. TVC had SF4 as its big rival, which is huge, but GBA2 came out during the Capcom dark ages or over saturation of fighting games. It is not a tag fighter, but it is the only Gundam FG that features mobile suits from G-Gundam. It also has the real English voice actors. Definitely check it out if you’re a fan of Gundams, giant characters, or just underrated FGs.
Not gonna lie, I would actually want a crossover game between Tatsunoko, Marvel, and Capcom. The cultural difference between super heroes from both the U.S. and Japan is what makes it interesting and would be awesome if it happened.
The only reason I haven't played this one is that, not being Japanese, I'm not super familiar with Tatsunoko. However, if Capcom paired with a classic American animation company like Hanna-Barbera, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Edit: for everyone saying that I can just "get familiar" with it, what I'm saying is that those shows just weren't in the zeitgeist for me, while in Japan, it's more easily accessible and in the pop culture sphere. For something like Marvel vs. Capcom, I'm a lot more in my element because of how well I know those characters, while for this, I'd have to go out of my way, which isn't a bad thing, it just doesn't click as well, hence why I never gave it a shot.
Speed Racer would have been included but the Hollywood movie came out around the same year and Tatsunoko basically had to surrender the rights temporarily.
A fantastic video on one of my favourite fighting games ever - thank you! I still have my copy and a working Wii U to play it on from time to time. You’ve got a new follower, now I’m off to listen to the BGM for Orbital Ring Systems Cargo Bay again!
The biggest mistake Capcom made with this game was making it Nentendo exclusive. Just think about why it is not in the MVC Collection that just got release. Capcom fails its original fan base.
I think the most interesting aspect of TvC who stands out over the MvC games is the Cool Down mechanic who forces the players to thing when and how to use their partner. MvC tournaments (specially UMvC3) are a battle of assistences, who make the matches not so fun to watch. TvC, in the other hand, priorises the 1v1 battle, and the assistences are just assistences as the name says. Any game who offer assistence could have a Cool Down mechanic, just like Aqua Pazza and Nitroplus Blasters. KoF2000 could be a fairer game if the striker system could offer a Cool Down mechanic.
First, assists in MvC2 and [U]MvC3] do have cool downs. They might be shorter than TvC, but they still exist. They also have numerous restrictions (e.g. each assist can only be called once per combo, can't be called during specials/supers, can't be called during super jumps, etc), though veterans know when and when not to use them. PLayers unfamiliar with the game might think it's spamming, but at high level, it's anything but. Second, MvC2/[U]MvC3 are team-based games, and the assists are _the_ major contributors to that (though not the only ones). TvC is closer in style to MvC1 or MSHvSF, where it was more 1 on 1 on 1 on 1, with off-screen characters not playing as important a role and team mechanics being less prominent. You might have a preference, but many people prefer the team-based nature of MvC2/[U]MvC3 to the older extended 1 on 1.
If I remember correctly, Tatsunoko sorted out all of their licensing woes few years back for their 55th anniversary, so a theoretical TvC 2 should be possible if Capcom is willing. And I don't get why Speed Racer wasn't playable, the guy did plenty of hand-to-hand combat as well as gunplay during his show's run. They could easily give him a fun moveset without even using the Mach 5. Also, Speedy Cerviche from Samurai Pizza Cats should be added as well!
at the first fighting game meetup i went to our TO brought this out and i told him to let the intro rock so everyone could hear i only started playing tvc in 2020 but that intro makes me nostalgic for other people's childhoods
Tatsunoko has been around a very long time. If youve watched Samurai Pizza Cats, Battle of the Planets (G-Force / Gatchaman) or even Speed Racer then you know Tatsunoko to some degree
Saki was actually a Marvel Vs. Capcom Support character in the first game, like the others she was selected at random, but it was nice to see her in this game, and also having her old support move in her move set
I love this game man,i played the crap out of it,and even im not even that into figthers, but this one just got my attention since im a huge anime fan,and i actually knew some of the Tatsunoko characters,i even got to meet Katsuji Mori the voice of Ken the eagle and Tekkaman and he signed my copy of the game!
i can't say it's the most underrelated because it's part of a major series and even made it to an evo main title position. This isn't to say it isn't the most underrated marvel game, but when you look at all the other fighting games out there with interesting mechanics and strong player counters, tvc is too well loved and received to be truly underrated. that's also ignoring the fact everyone who talks about TvC (including myself) tend to sing it with praise, including non fgc friends of mine. That said despite the click bait title i enjoyed the video. thanks for making it.
@16:50 I've had ENDLESS arguments with my brothers that this theme was the best one on the game. Loved it so much, I was blasting it on my IPod back in grade school 💜! Ah... the good ol days 😌
This game is so unique and look so fun and addicting I wanna go back to 8 year old me to experience what it feels like to play game like this in the time there’s no much cool games yet this is a hidden gem
TvC is the one fighting game I've ever been able to truly get invested in and have fun with. I loved seeing all the obscure (especially for the US) anime characters having such incredible movesets taken from their source material, and all the characters feeling very good to sit down with as a casual player. Spent a lot of hours over at a friends house as we both just smashed buttons at one another, gradually learning combos and understanding movesets. My fondest memory of the game is going on a winning streak as I learned a Roll string that ended with her healing Super, allowing me to win extended 1v1 despite being the worse player, only to see my streak shattered once my friend discovered the healing pellet could just be destroyed in mid-air.
I love everything about that game. The combos the characters the over the top damage numbers. Really hits the pleasure centers of my brain. My team is tekkaman blade and Ryu
Amazing game that's seriously underrated and easily one of the best VS fighters ever. It's really sad it didn't get more exposure. Would love to see a re-release with some added QOL features. Also, speed racer would've been such a cool addition, such a bummer he wasn't able to make it. Another thing, you missed my favorite stage, it's actually a transition stage where you can break the ground and end up on a wooden raft on a river before... I think it's called something like uncharted China.
I will NEVER get tired of TvC, and I’m always happy to see someone make content on it. Great video. Don’t know how big of an ask this is but do you think you’d be interested in sharing the game assets you ripped? Trying to find these assets online is hard and figuring out how to rip them myself is a pain.
Oh hell yeah, TvC was great! I had never heard of Tatsunoko when I stumbled across this game back in the day, but absolutely fell in love with it. Hope this game eventually gets another shot at a decent official online infrastructure, it absolutely would deserve it. Probably quite unlikely, given that Anime licensing tends to be an absolute goddamn nightmare, but still. TvC really has its own, unique game feel. Oh shit, I never knew there were more in-depth endings we missed out on! I gotta look those up at some point.
Bro I was there in full time when TVC dropped. You had guys just swallowing their own tongues about buying a Wii when they realized how good and fast it was catching on. It was great. I myself already had a Wii since I actually had a life outside of traditional fighting games and liked playing Smash/Party/Kart with my friends. TVC was such a great time, admittedly it got eclipsed over time when MVC3 came out but if you were there in the beginning, you had a nice appreciation for where the basis of MVC3 came from. Also it was the first time we got to really see Morrigan in a new model since the meme about her was that Capcom just ported her DS/VS sprite into anything they could.
Here's a fact for us ppl who love Tatsunoko vs capcom. Tatsunoko actually out sold MVC3 and had a higher score from gaming platforms. I like to argue this with MVC ppl who try to bring this gem down. We need a rerelease becuase T.V.C. holds a special place in my heart next to Doronjo❤😂
I knew Jun the Swan and Eagle from G Force! This game is fantastic! Capcom needs to re release! Tbh I had more fun with this than Marvel Vs Capcom 3. Side note. Why was Speed Racer not put in this game? He would have been so incredible!
TVC was one of my top 5 fighting game ever. It was the main reason I bought the Wii. I didn't know there was a real actual arcade for this game, but only in Japan. This game was underrated, but I would say it's better than MVCI.

Man this channel has some exceptional editing and quality content! ❤
Keep being awesome, can't wait for the next video
Great video, man. There are some details that i never knew about TVC. I used to play this game in childhood, when i was discovering fighting games, and i loved this one. Good to see this game have a comunity, i also really enjoy his theme song.
One of my favourites in the cross over fighter games. as you mentioned in the video, has TVC not been made, MVC3 would have been a very different game. Thanks for covering the most underrated game in capcoms history. You earned a sub
Awesome video, TVC brings back so many great memories. I really hope it can be re-released, just like the Mvc arcade collection. 🤞🏽
4:06 to be fair, that voice actor gives it his all everytime. He broke his throat and three mics for the goldion crusher in gaogaigar
Loved the Chad warden meme inserts, I was cracking up.
BALLIN'!
This looks great!!
tatsunoko anime was on the tv in sicily in the early 90's and street fighter 2 was in the arcades. this my childhood in one.
This was a really good video for TVC and the edits were hilarious 😂😂😂 Relaxed voice too, makes it easier to watch
EDIT: Ah ya mentioned that at the end
MvC 3 would not exist as it is without this game. It was pretty much the Beta for MvC as many of the characters and game designs came straight from this one like 3 attack buttons, zero, frank and morrigan. And man I LOVED TEKKAMAN BLADE-O!
My brothers hated it because he was broken as hell
You did a truly spectacular service for this game, thanks man
Great video!
Apparently they were planning on having Speed Racer in the game, but they eventually scrapped him because of copyright issues.
This game was the reason i even try a fighting game
I actually love this game! Had Batsu in it on the Capcom side, so the Rival Schools fan in me was like yeah! Then I saw that Casshern, Tekkaman and Karas was in. And I was like ‘no one in the room but me knows’. And that felt cool.
I even unlocked all the hidden characters.
I recognize a decent chunk of these characters despite only ever briefly watching Casshern. Wonder why Tatsunoko isn't big in the west considering a few of their characters are pretty iconic.
Sees Tatsunoko Vs Capcom video - instantly clicks “like” video. Tekkeman Blade favorite character comment - just earned you a new subscriber.
There is something very interesting about how, for TvC they picked the ORIGINAL Space Knight Tekkaman, the slower of the two protagonist Tekkamen of the franchise; pretty interesting choice too, since I imagine a proper Tekkaman Blade should be speedy as fuck. like, the one line he has about Tekkamen in the show is simple: "Never Underestimate The Speed of a Tekkaman!"
with special moves and finishers that emphasize going fast as fuck - like the CRASH INTRUDE!
I used to love the hell out of this game. Broooo your bringing back Memories.
Keep up the good content.
Capcom _wanted_ to put in Samurai Pizza Cats but the licensing with Tatsunoko fell through. :(
Played TvC with just a Wiimote (no nunchuck). Basically Modern mode control in SF6.
Way more fun than i thought.
Hollowshy, This video is fantastic! I liked it a lot!
These edits are so good, leaving this comment to hopefully help out the algorithm because people need to see this
I finnaly got to sit down with this one at the end of last year & I fell in love with it. Thank you for making this video!
One of my favorite fighting games!!! The combos and the cast were all so cool.
Possible alternate title for this video "Most Underrated Video Editing Ever" Great video!
I loved Tatsunoko vs Capcom, I just never really saw anyone else talk about it
Man, I love your editing style. Glad I found this channel.
This was an amazing video of a fighting game I've never played and may purchase for my Wii in the future.
YA BA DA BADOKEN!
It's very worth it either way. Even just for the Capcom half of the roster it's a phenomenal game.
Idk any of them either but I also dont know who tf some of the capcom characters are, I just plat the game of it plays well
Speed Racer would have been included but the Hollywood movie came out around the same year and Tatsunoko basically had to surrender the rights temporarily.
I hope this is sarcasm
A fantastic video on one of my favourite fighting games ever - thank you! I still have my copy and a working Wii U to play it on from time to time. You’ve got a new follower, now I’m off to listen to the BGM for Orbital Ring Systems Cargo Bay again!
My best friend in elementary had this game on his Wii. Sleepovers there were the best
wow the effort put into this video is crazy keep up the good work
Jump Magna Vs Capcom would be crazy , DBZ , JJBA, One Piece, etc, dang , Capcom just why haven't they done it yet , their already cool with Namco
I remember watching Battle of the Planets, when I was a kid. I recognized some characters.
Excellent video, what a joy to watch. Thank you
Awesome video. And a timeless art style in this game! Still looks good!
at the first fighting game meetup i went to our TO brought this out and i told him to let the intro rock so everyone could hear
i only started playing tvc in 2020 but that intro makes me nostalgic for other people's childhoods
Tatsunoko has been around a very long time. If youve watched Samurai Pizza Cats, Battle of the Planets (G-Force / Gatchaman) or even Speed Racer then you know Tatsunoko to some degree
glad your back, great video, love tatsunoko vs capcom
Saki was actually a Marvel Vs. Capcom Support character in the first game, like the others she was selected at random, but it was nice to see her in this game, and also having her old support move in her move set
I was not expecting this game to have super jumps, air dashes, AND A BURST mechaninc
The fucking theme is one of the best fighting game intro of all time
quite an intresting game, two of my fav anime characters are in this game: Cassharn and Tekkaman
i can't say it's the most underrelated because it's part of a major series and even made it to an evo main title position.
@16:50
I've had ENDLESS arguments with my brothers that this theme was the best one on the game. Loved it so much, I was blasting it on my IPod back in grade school 💜!
Ah... the good ol days 😌
This was such a great video thus far (I'm about a good third thru) that I subscribed. 💪🏿 Keep up the great work.
Wish this game was on the switch
I will NEVER get tired of TvC, and I’m always happy to see someone make content on it. Great video.
Don’t know how big of an ask this is but do you think you’d be interested in sharing the game assets you ripped? Trying to find these assets online is hard and figuring out how to rip them myself is a pain.
13:36 Don’t say that about the Fridge megazord 😂
This game single handledly put me on Tekkaman, I love big goofy corny characters like him. SPACE LANCE
No Triple Voltekka? You disappoint D-Boy.
