The 'last' line was from the Galactica 1980 episode, "The Return of Starbuck"! The 'line' was 'preceded' by the words, "We were taking a vote..." something 'else' that was 'unknown' about your basic Cylon centurions.
Yes , and the second season two years later was terrible it lasted 8 episodes, with most of the brilliant actors from the first season gone . Larson was a genius , in the 70s and ,80s with wonderful shows , knight rider, alias smith and Jones, fall guys, buck Rogers.
When Athena said those lines 'Commander we're picking up attacking signals from Purple and Orange Squadrons we don't have Purple and Orange Squadrons' and Adama saying 'Purple and Orange' as I mentioned in a previous comment they knew they didn't have Purple and Orange squadrons but the Cylons didn't know that and seeing the look on Adama's face when he realized it was Apollo and Starbuck I can certainly understand his concern when he said 'Lord Help Them Both'.
Great scene. Apollo and Starbuck showing early on their friendship and bravery. Though I like Apollo reigning Starbuck in: "..let's not get carried away..."
Such a great idea it was for Apollo & Starbuck to trick the Cylon Imperious Leader to land on Carillon and get it destroyed with the planet. Odd it take long for the Imperious Leader to get replaced after he was destroyed with the Base Star.
The "shield" in question is basically the front window cover. Also notice that despite being closer to the planet and way more fragile than a Battlestar both Vipers remained undamaged as well.
I was sixteen when I saw this episode and it brings back fond memories. I still love the special effects still good by today's standards. Being more savvy in physics and science today, i think that if that planet was made of enough explosives it enough to blow itself up it would have blown much earlier and not conveniently for the destruction of the base star. Science fiction can get away with a lot with the general public.

When I heard Apollo's reaction to what StarBuck said about there being a Purple and Orange squadrons as he said 'Purple and Orange' it was like he was thinking 'Where did Starbuck get that idea'.
3:57 crew reaction to basestar / Carillon explosion seems to be taken from the crew reaction to the destruction of the Atlantia in "Saga of a Star World". The circle is now complete.
I believe IL stood for Imperious Leader. They were the line that produced replacements when necessary. Luci mentions in one episode that he is an IL series model and was hoping to become the next Leader but another IL got the promotion.
@@Poizenne You know that makes sense. The Cylons would produce numerous models capable of performing the duties of Imperious Leader. Lucifer also said, "Why they chose him (New Imperious Leader) over me I will never understand." The Imperious Leader seemed quite convinced that 30 to 50 Vipers posed a serious untenable threat to a Basestar deprived of Raiders..... Fighters are the real power projection in the OG Galactica universe. Battlestars and Basestars aren't meant to slug it out (Even though they do). The President of the Council of 12 whose Battlestar was the Atlantia would've liked seeing a Cylon Base Star going down on Carillon and causing it and the planet explode. The crew of the other Battlestars would've been glad to see that as well.
Carillon was full of tylium mines, a substance extremely combustible in its raw form. During their escape, Starbuck and Apollo ended up igniting a vein of tylium. Between the battle and the evacuation of Colonial civilians, enough time had gone by (since the Cylons in the mines did not, or were not able to, stop the fires), the inferno had spread across major portions of Carillon. The Imperious Leader was so concerned about being destroyed by six squadrons of Vipers that he passed over the raised concern about the planet's condition and ordered the baseship moved closer to hide. At that point, large enough pockets of compressed tylium had ignited to blow up the planet, taking the baseship with it.
Apollo and Starbuck set the tylium desposites of the planet on fire, that's why the Centurion said about reports of fires. Tylium is the primary fuel source in the BSG Universe.
It's not obvious from the short clip, but earlier, they set fire to the fuel that planet was full of after getting away with as much as they could at first.
