Looks like a really cool monitor. Must admit, the specs are pretty similar to the Dell I've had for a while but the USB C port is killer - could use it with a work laptop if you have one that charges by USB C
I've got one of LG's ultrawide 1440p monitors with a USB-C port and a hub in it. It's great with my macbook for work, one cable and I get power, keyboard, mouse, and ethernet (I have a gigabit USB3 dongle plugged in). My only gripe is there's no way to get the hub connected to anything other than the device on the USB-C port so it doesn't work as a usb switcher.
Dell has got more expensive options with USB-C as well, and the higher end models have a KVM switch as well. But this is a 165 Hz gaming monitor which also has a matte screen it seems. So I think it would perfectly double as an office monitor too. You really don't need portrait mode for that, especially if you have another screen that could do that trick.
Honestly, maybe a hot take, but I would prefer the three screws. Yes, it might not need them, but I like the peace of mind that the monitor is actually well supported. Realistically you are only going to assemble this thing a few times, so that extra hassle isn't a huge deal.
and for me, i just dont care because how many times are you going to screw it together :D 1 -2 times and that is it. so yea i dont care at all. But it looks nice, something i would buy if i did not have the LG 144hz 1440p monitor that i got on sale for 350
I mean, toolless doesn't necessarily mean less secure. In this particular case what he's probably talking about are the monitor stands that have screws but the screws themselves have a little flip out piece of metal that you can use to move the screw with your fingers (and they're tight enough that they stay in place when not flipped up) and they still have the Phillips head so if you don't want to use the little handle or it's broken you're not screwed (ba-dum-tish) Considering that Pixio is trying everything they can to send out a quality product at a very competitive cost, those kinds of screws were probably considered extraneous and unnecessary, so they cut them to cut costs a little. So yes, while they're unnecessary, they're definitely not less secure.
@@CreativityNull Yeah I feel it was better to use the three screws and make it more secure than cheap out on a cheaper center screw and risk it not being secure enough.

@@hugh_janus121 I have the new 1440p version of that monitor (GP850-B) and it’s been great so far. Good color and brightness right out of the box and is better once you mess around with the settings and even fully calibrate it. I just got this monitor in myself a few days ago and it was because of this review. This is my very first HDR, 1440p or high refresh rate monitor and so far I am very happy with it.
Pixio actually puts out decent monitors. I got the PXC279 - 1080p 27inch 240Hz 1500r curved monitor for my build back in Dec of 2020 that I am absolutely glad I went for. Couldn’t be happier
pixio has been around fro some years now. Their price to performance has always been super amazing. I just never had the funds to be able to afford one unfortunately. Glad they finally made their way to LTT!
Just so you know, if you play and stream on the same card, for Nvidia with NVENC it means it has no impact on gaming performance since NVENC is extra dedicated hardware.
AMD does too actually, you just don't hear much about it because it typically doesn't work as well. It's the same concept on AMD as their cores dedicated to OpenCL (vs Nvidia'S proprietary CUDA) and they keep the whole thing open source so software that implements it (There are plugins for OBS that do utilize it very well with no noticeable performance impact.) is all community driven. Honestly though, I miss having shadowplay for doing clips. I don't stream, but AMD's answer to shadowplay is lower quality and honestly the interface is so clunky I haven't figured out how to get it to save clips with a keybind like shadowplay does. Granted I do like not having to have an account to use what should be completely offline software lol. I'll figure it out eventually I just haven't sat down and given a lot of focus on it, but I didn't have to for shadowplay IIRC.
Having your streaming program running and rendering your scene with overlays and such along with any other programs you might have open in the background does still take resources away from your game even if your encoding with nvenc or any other dedicated hardware encoder.
I don't know where you heard that but it's not true. Using NVENC reduces the core performance as there's still some processing being done that isn't just the video encoding. If you're livestreaming, most software use your GPU for compositing the scene. Even ShadowPlay reduces your in-game performance a little.
Got the Pixio PX7P a couple years ago based on Hardware Unboxed recommendation. Great monitor with top tier specs at the time for $200 less than competitors but comes at the cost of a cheap monitor stand. Don’t forget to register online for a two year warranty
If you're in the United States, I think you're covered whether you register or not. I heard there is a law requiring manufacturers to honor warranties regardless of registration. Worth looking into.
I find it astounding how hard it is to find a monitor like this one. You know, a monitor with solid specs, not 240hz that you can't reach and .5ms you won't notice or any super high-end stuff, just 1440p, ~120hz, doesn't look like a toy. Loved it, really looking forward to get one (it will probably take a couple years since I live in Brazil but hey, one can hope...)
I've had a Pixio PXC243 for a couple years and it's been an absolutely lovely monitor for the price. Technically goes for $160, but I fairly regularly have seen it on sale for $140. 144hz, 1080p, and a pretty nice VA panel.
I am honestly quite impressed by this monitor. It's exactly what I'm looking for. 1440 with decent refresh rate and at least 60+ PD USB-C for my macbook. All of that for a very good price. It's only missing the ultrawide aspect but I could deal with it. I'm definitely gonna consider it.
I have three of the PX277 Prime (triple monitor setup) and they are very good. I could see myself buying this model in the future just for the extra ports. Pixio is very under rated.
"... can avoid buying a 300 nit monitor" I mean in SDR world I calibrate my monitors to the 120 nit standard anyway, and even that is usually a bit too bright, so sometimes I drop them down to 90 nits. 300 or 400 nits would cause massive eyestrain and headaches for me unless I was like using these outdoors. =/
Damn. It feels like a monitor with all the gamer bells and whistles at a decent price. There’s a lot of ones with similar specs on the market at this price or cheaper, but this one seems to check every box
I’ve always wondered, when will we see more DisplayPort 2.0 monitors? As for the monitor brand, my little brother actually got another one of their monitors a few years ago. It’s seemingly been serving him well since.
I've had a pixio px248 for a while and I'll say it's very nice for $170. You would like to see a better stand but for that price with no promo applied it's hard to beat. Also any interaction I've had with Pixio has been smooth and pleasant, definitely recommend this brand.
I got 2 Pixio PXC243 and I absolutly love them! They're not super expensive and the quality is superb, the only complain is the PS is on the end of the cord that plugs is so it's difficult to fit in a cable tray or even on a powerbar that doesn't have 2 rows
I have the Pixio New PX277 from a few years back and it's pretty good for the price. I paid $360 for mine. There are better monitors out there but they also cost more. I'm happy with mime.
My system is literally named No Fuss No Muss because it has minimal RGB and I chose components that do not have aggressive "gamer" designs. This monitor is right up my alley.
with the mention of the 4:3 apext ratio I really hoped to see a gamecube with a GCHD or Carby hooked up with this monitor. Right now I'm just really interested in a 1440p monitor at around 27" for my old consoles. And it's the first time for me to see a monitor with USB-C so I also hoped to see more details on that.
Pixio has been doing solid, no BS, monitors for ages. Them and AOC have been the go-to for decent monitors, at decent price, in the Australasian market. Had a few myself, they never disappointed.
I have the older model of this monitor, it's pretty good as well! Pixio is going to get return business from me in the coming years of they keep this up!
The Labels thing is a really good point. It costs like a penny to make a sticker that has the right info, and it'd be super helpful.... I wish they all had good labels in the back.
i recently bought a lg gn27800(B) ultragear monitor, basically same specs(not sure if it has kvm) it does have slightly lower max brightness(i think 350) but so far im very happy with it, it isnt super great at darker scenes but overal pixel response time is great been really happy with it.
Still looking for a monitor with 2 usb c and each support DP, power delivery, and kvm. So I can switch input signal together with keyboard and mouse. And, with 1G ethernet cable!
I went for the Pixio PX277 Prime late 2020 before getting a 5700 XT and building a gaming PC. Still using to this day and incredibly pleased with it, friend bought it too to play with a 3070 Ti. Only complaints are: - first one ordered on Amazon UK just went missing and was marked as delivered. Amazon refunded and sent another one out immediately which was great. - one of the two monitor stand screws arrived knackered but I’ve mounted it on a clamp as the Pixio stand is painfully low and takes up a lot of desk space! Apart from that it’s a fantastic FreeSync QHD display, playing competitive and older games at 165fps!
This thing looks awesome. I like the kvm option since I work from home sometimes I can plug it into my gaming pc and switch to my work laptop via usb-c when I need to without switching cables all the time.
I've got the Pixio PX7 Prime. Very Similar 1440 @165hz but no type C or USB Hub. Very good monitors but the firmware isn't awesome. I wish the HDR function worked better but that's more of a windows fault. But Pixio seems to be a good brand, I'm happy with it and it'll run at full 10 bit color without DSC
The PX7 Prime is in no way capable of HDR despite the branding, like pretty much every other monitor in this price class. It's not just a Windows thing, low color volume + low brightness + no local dimming means not capable of HDR. Look at any professional review of that monitor or any similarly priced one, HDR it ain't
@@kendokaaa Not true HDR but can process the signaling for it which helps in some situations. The issue I have is the washed out windows 10 nonsense from lack on color pallet switching. Works fine on everything else (such as an xbox or 4K HDR player) though. More then 450nits isn't necessary anyways. I know its not a really HDR display though. I also have a bright room its in so true black level isn't really a thing anyways but thanks for pointing it out.
It's not yet out and they do seem to sell their other monitors over here. As they deliver from factory, I don't see why they would not sell it here. Write to them if you want it!
As a best buy employee, please don't trust us. We are so used to just giving the simple information that the majority of our customer base wants that whenever someone who actually knows what they are talking about asks us a question, we genuinely forget everything. Today some lady asked me what the peak brightness of a laptop was, and I genuinely forgot how to find that out.
I got myself an LG 32GP850 during the Xmas-sale and the specs of the Pixio aren't too far off the 27inch model, from what it looks like. I'm impressed what Pixio offers for the price.
I gave up on monitors a while ago and got a 55" C1 instead. For the price, this might be a nice addition for stuff like designing my 3d prints and web browsing when I can't use my phone
I would absolutely looove a monitor with a built-in KVM! This definitely looks interesting. Would prefer 16:10 to make it better for work, but I have barely seen any ~28-inch 2560x1600 monitors for some reason.
Honestly what I care about most in a monitor is how color accurate it is which unfortunately many gaming monitors are not the best at. If it's right refresh rate gaming monitor vs color accurate studio monitor with 60 hz...
If colour accuracy is really important, then it’s worth getting a SpyderX or something similar and calibrating one of these wide gamut high refresh monitors yourself. It’s what I did - my own ICC profile, User mode which is calibrated for my work and content viewing, and then chuck it in FPS mode for when I’m playing Valorant and I don’t *want* accurate colours but instead overly vibrant ones so I can notice enemies quicker. This is with an Asus XG27UQ (4K 144hz)
The Asus monitor I'm using right now is 1440p and can run at 120hz with 10-bit colour. After calibration it has a deltaE average of 0.8 and a maximum of less than 2.
5:34 Or QD-OLED monitors, when those come later this year. 9:04 "User" or "sRGB" provides the best colours. If it was on a TV, yes, movie/cinema would be best. 9:15 You just select the resolution in a retro game, then it will change to that aspect ratio anyway. Even if you can't change it and it only has one set resolution, the GPU will nearly always switch to 4:3 anyway.
Got a 1440p 155hz vfr Dell monitor in 2019 for $320, would have expected these to be like $250 by now, stupid supply shortages. Glad I pulled the trigger when I did.
The color on Nicholas's face and neck looks real saturated, making me think the colors were boosted for this video. Were there changes to how this video was edited?
I have 2 Gigabyte M27Q monitors. they have the built in KVM. If you're working form home, it's pretty damn neat so you can just use one KB+M for both PC's.

The USB C is really useful for laptops, sounds nice, would love to have it on more monitors
No, we don't make monitors. Yes, it's spelled the same way.
-Pixio Limited, the mobile game company
Nice little plug there
So a Pixio X Pixio collab is out of the question? 👀💧#WeLoveKevin
@@Pixiogaming but I would be cool
Got the Pixio PX7P a couple years ago based on Hardware Unboxed recommendation. Great monitor with top tier specs at the time for $200 less than competitors but comes at the cost of a cheap monitor stand. Don’t forget to register online for a two year warranty
If you're in the United States, I think you're covered whether you register or not. I heard there is a law requiring manufacturers to honor warranties regardless of registration. Worth looking into.
A $25 monitor arm will be better than any stand that comes with a monitor anyways
My first 144hz monitor was a Pixio. Got a refurbished from eBay for $160. It was a steal, and it had G-Sync which wasn’t listed on the site.
I've had a Pixio PXC243 for a couple years and it's been an absolutely lovely monitor for the price. Technically goes for $160, but I fairly regularly have seen it on sale for $140. 144hz, 1080p, and a pretty nice VA panel.
The last gen model of this monitor was on sale for $269 USD on amazon at the end of 2021 and I have been very happy with it especially for the price
I'm really liking this! I've been hunting a monitor like this that comes without horrid "gamer" design.
Edit - Can't get in the EU.. ._,
I am honestly quite impressed by this monitor. It's exactly what I'm looking for. 1440 with decent refresh rate and at least 60+ PD USB-C for my macbook. All of that for a very good price. It's only missing the ultrawide aspect but I could deal with it. I'm definitely gonna consider it.
I have the PXC277. It has been great so far. No dead pixels and excellent color. I paid 299.99 for a 1440p monitor.
Its 239.99 on amazon right now... cus i just bought it LOL i was hiping to find some reviews over the pxc277
It’s seemingly been serving him well since.
not until late '22 or '23 or when ever AMD and nvidia decide they can't milk current gen cards anymore and announce the next gen cards.
When the display resolutions and refresh rates require it.
@@sirmonkey1985 So basically whenever the RTX 4000 series drops.
@@sirmonkey1985 Maybe a little earlier as I think Intel confirmed DP 2.0 on their upcoming GPUs.
@@AusSkiller So DP 2.0 is happening this year, cool.
I've noticed on a lot of monitors where the "chin" is up against the pixels (no bezel) then you get a lot of reflection off that chin.
I've had a pixio px248 for a while and I'll say it's very nice for $170. You would like to see a better stand but for that price with no promo applied it's hard to beat. Also any interaction I've had with Pixio has been smooth and pleasant, definitely recommend this brand.
I HAVE THE 24" VERSION AND SAW THIS ON THEIR PAGE AND YOUS POST THIS LITERALLY THE NEXT DAY
I got 2 Pixio PXC243 and I absolutly love them! They're not super expensive and the quality is superb, the only complain is the PS is on the end of the cord that plugs is so it's difficult to fit in a cable tray or even on a powerbar that doesn't have 2 rows
I have a Pixio portable monitor. It's a really good monitor. I run emulated games on it with my Raspberry Pi 400. Glad to see them expanding.
I have the Pixio New PX277 from a few years back and it's pretty good for the price. I paid $360 for mine. There are better monitors out there but they also cost more. I'm happy with mime.
6:06 kind of amazing how he was of by 1 digit in the color specs
My system is literally named No Fuss No Muss because it has minimal RGB and I chose components that do not have aggressive "gamer" designs. This monitor is right up my alley.
I have a Pixio at home! A 1440p display with a weird 95Hz refresh rate. I got it cheap and I am really happy with it!!
with the mention of the 4:3 apext ratio I really hoped to see a gamecube with a GCHD or Carby hooked up with this monitor.
Right now I'm just really interested in a 1440p monitor at around 27" for my old consoles.
And it's the first time for me to see a monitor with USB-C so I also hoped to see more details on that.
David walking into best buy like Ron Swanson telling the employees you know more than them.
Worst case of screen tearing I've ever seen was Portal 1 with the vsync off holy crap
I have the PX329, and I love it to bits
Still looking for a monitor with 2 usb c and each support DP, power delivery, and kvm. So I can switch input signal together with keyboard and mouse. And, with 1G ethernet cable!
I went for the Pixio PX277 Prime late 2020 before getting a 5700 XT and building a gaming PC. Still using to this day and incredibly pleased with it, friend bought it too to play with a 3070 Ti. Only complaints are:
- first one ordered on Amazon UK just went missing and was marked as delivered.
This looks like the perfect upgrade for me. I've got the MSI G27 curved monitor at 1080p and 165hz, and I want to move up to 1440.
This thing looks awesome. I like the kvm option since I work from home sometimes I can plug it into my gaming pc and switch to my work laptop via usb-c when I need to without switching cables all the time.
Love how when he finds something wrong, he always says that's its fine.
Pixio pretty much known for its value at this point, one of those that get the under $300 well
I was disappointed to find out they don't sell this in Europe -.-
It's not yet out and they do seem to sell their other monitors over here. As they deliver from factory, I don't see why they would not sell it here. Write to them if you want it!
@@owlstead Ah I'll try find it in EU once this model is out then.
I wish more monitors have type c charging for my laptops :]
True
I've had the px277 prime for a year and it's been great for the money. I went to a 240hz for fps games tho
When the "short"circuit channel put out longer duration content than the main channel
The duration may be longer but the preparation time is clearly much shorter
I gave up on monitors a while ago and got a 55" C1 instead. For the price, this might be a nice addition for stuff like designing my 3d prints and web browsing when I can't use my phone
Really enjoying seeing Plouffe, I think hes becoming a better host all around.
This video is somewhat calming lol.
I think pixio is doing a great job of getting good panel and fine functions.
In the market for replacement monitors. These are on my list now.
This has literally solved my problem, I needed a gaming and work monitor, most gaming monitors only have PD up to 10w.
8:39 Plouffe: "Hey I've got N I P P L E S, can you milk me?"
David: "Don't tempt me!"
Whoa, that escalated quick 😂😂
It seems like the cast on shortcircuit have so much fun
Got a 1440p 155hz vfr Dell monitor in 2019 for $320, would have expected these to be like $250 by now, stupid supply shortages. Glad I pulled the trigger when I did.
Very good video, well done.
Does anyone know the light in the background at 10:08 ?
The color on Nicholas's face and neck looks real saturated, making me think the colors were boosted for this video. Were there changes to how this video was edited?
0:00 how is that even possible pixio is in every TH-cam vid about cheap monitors
I've had a pixio for a couple years and I really like it. Definitely recommend them
Gonna wait for mini LED 1080p ones for better HDR in Windows.
I bought the p248 prime s and couldn’t be happier
The 'boy' got me 😂😂
I like how they presume a sticker is a magical thing that can fully enforce that policy of "not for resale"
The price tag is reasonable. The prize tag 😯
This monitor is amazing
u guys have 1.69m subs *NICE* I LOVE YOU GUYS
I have 2 Gigabyte M27Q monitors. they have the built in KVM. If you're working form home, it's pretty damn neat so you can just use one KB+M for both PC's.
Great review. Just bought one after watching your video. Question though - did you experience any coil whine when you turn the KVM switch on?
Just got This monitor and besides the stand who i dont care because i got a arm for monitor , this is the best money can buy .
Baby Yono was adorable!
I've been using pixio since about 2019 when I built my pc
Had my pixio monitor for a while now. Imo best bang for buck monitors out there.
"You probably never heard of Pixio" I'm watching this on my PX7 Prime, which was excellent value.
I have a pixio monitor i love it
That is pretty impressive
Love the way the website promotes "bezel-less" and shows monitor screens without the black borders. Yet, this review piece shows otherwise. Photoshop pics: when will companies learn?
I've got a Pixio PX248 for $170 US a year ago. No complaints.
I wonder who makes the panel
Paused the video to go check out Virtual Japan and I'm back 2 hours later. So beautiful.
Why didn't you mention the fact that there's no height adjustment??
Pixio makes amazingly price monitors
i recommended this monitor a while ago for someone and it was good what what i heard.
