This was a really informative video and this monitor looks totally sweet! Oh, and thanks for including Amazon Canada links for your fellow hosers!

    I wanted to let you know that I bought this monitor based on your video, and I am loving it. I am a wierd use case. I needed a mobile computing divice for work, so I bought a Samsung S9 tablet I could use in DEX mode over USB-C. I now daily drive that way for MS word, email and web browsing. Then when I want to PC play games, I just unplug it and jack in my Steam Deck.
    I also have my XBOX series and PS5 hooked up via the HDMI and DP slots for my AAA stuff. (PS5 is using an omni HDMI to DP cable). While I know this isn't a true HDR display, I was impressed that it worked without hassle, and that games from both consoles look fantastic.
    My only complaint was also the stand which did not sit on the sheld built into my desk so I had to buy a 3rd party one. Overall, I would recomend this unit to any gamer looking to manage multiple devices.

    TD, I hope you do more videos like this. Gaming is a specific category, but retro gaming is even more specific. I always feel that you see things the way the rest of us retro gamers see things. Also, monitor review especially need good narration because you can't "show" a good video when someone is looking at it through what is almost certainly an inferior video capability (or else they probably wouldn't care). Your comments on BFI were especially useful. It drives me crazy that I bought a new monitor just before I got back into gaming and while it's a great general purpose monitor (32" LG UN880 4K), it's completely the wrong monitor for gaming. I should never have gone for a 4K low refresh rate monitor. This Pixio (and a number of others like it) would have been far, far better than what I picked and still would have given me a great option for productivity anyway. Argghhh. Great video as usual from TD and I really do appreciate the specific focus a channel like this provides

Brilliant review all very useful relevant gaming points, excellent piece of hardware that really did a fine job pulling together all the hardware that you typically demo and review; extremely well presented as usual. Sound piece of tech fairly priced and configured, smart KVM features all very relevant!

    I've been needing a new monitor for the past couple of years, but I haven't yet been able to find something in my price range that meets my needs. This looks like the perfect fit for what I want to use it for/with, and honestly I'd love to buy one of these based on the review. The problem is, I cannot find anywhere I can buy this model! Even on their official website this model isn't listed. What is the point of sending out review copies of a product that are not available to buy (and presumably won't be again based on the scant information I've managed to dig up online)? Not knocking your work here TD (this is a solid review of a product as always), however maybe in future check to see if the product you're reviewing is something available to your audience first?

    I love my Viewsonic Elite XG270Q which has very similar features and spec, but the built in KVM is REALLY compelling - I've found myself wanting it for this, and for plugging in my work laptop. May have to consider a side-grade to this!

    • @srfeger
      @srfeger 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, Gigabyte has some really good KVM monitors. Admittedly less of an issue in *some* respects when I look at my Logitech keyboard and mouse which allows me to change devices with one button. But for wired devices, be they game controllers, keyboard and mouse, yeah, it's a big deal. Heck, just being able to change the monitor input easily is a pain on a lot of these monitors. I'm current typing this on my wife's 32" Acer EB321HQU and switching displays is so frustrating. You can't pick a specific input, it cycles through them. I hate the idea of replacing a perfect adequate monitor, but that's all this one is, adequate.

    REALLY awesome video. Making me seriously consider a second monitor just for docking my handhelds. I think my only worry with a monitor like this would be the native resolution and size for when I want to connect something like my Steam Deck to it. I’m not really going to be able to output more than 1080p from the Steam Deck anyway, so downscaling the native resolution of the monitor to 1080p won’t look as good. For me, I think I would prefer a 24 inch natice 1080p monitor for docking my Steam Deck. Smaller overall, yes, but probably better for a 1080p experience IMHO.

    • @srfeger
      @srfeger 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think this is a really good point and while it might not warrant a separate video, it would be really helpful to know the benefits/negatives of doing this. Would really like to know TDs opinion. What's the best way to accommodate something like that. He touches on the topic when he mentions that he can change the aspect ratio in the monitor settings and while I get it, is there a better or worse difference in setting in the device hardware settings, or the software settings of an emulator (like PPSSPP)?

    • @smidlee7747
      @smidlee7747 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Didn't some of the reviewers who praised the OLED PC monitors at first then a year later caution people of getting an OLED monitor? They claim the OLED were bad at "burn-out" (instead of burn in) at heavy use even with the latest methods of cleaning the screen it leaves the center slightly a red tint. Windows and browsers are terrible for OLED monitors. You surely wouldn't want to use an OLED monitor when playing retro games at 4:3. The center will no doubt "burn-out" faster than the left and right sides.
      Normally on a OLED TV you are not just playing games but likely watching TV and movies so the screen will "burn-out" more evenly than a PC monitor.
      The advantage of LED monitors is the back LED are always on so they "burn-out" evenly.

    • @5ecretcode
      @5ecretcode 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@smidlee7747 That is good to know for me specifically I would just use it for gaming, I usually just use the tv for movies/anime. I just feel like if you got the OLED steam deck you'd want the same results on a monitor maybe I'm weird tho lol

      A good KVM switch is going to outlast your monitor IMO.
      If you really use/need KVM it's better to get a Switch. If you really want it to work regardless of the devices you use, there are features that I wouldn't trust on a Monitor's KVM such as EDI. A good KVM switch will also let you have a dedicated button or even a remote controller. When you are dealing with KVM setups, the cable management becomes really important so these external buttons really matter.
