Nice review, I bought the Platinum Explorer 2020, you mention several times its not the sportiest in its class. But honestly why would you want a firm riding sporty 3 row luxury SUV anyway.? The rear wear drive platform makes it so much better. I think it's a true luxury vehicle and they did a superb job. Coming from previous Audi, BMW and Porsche owner.
Because people are never satisfied. They want everything. The only way to get all of that in an suv is with a combined magnetic ride and air suspension. I also prefer smooth non bumpy ride in an suv. Hard suspension is a no go, and big rims.
We have a Corsair, and it is an outstanding vehicle. I also drive the 2020 Volvo XC60, which is in the same class as the Corsair. The quietness, performance, luxury and comfort of the Corsair is head and shoulder above the XC60...and the XC60 is no slouch.
Great SUV with an awesome interior.. but the whole thing is marred by that literally a tablet sticking up from that slot in the dash.. looks like someone left their iPad in the gap... it even has tablet dimensions. It would look much better if they incorporated the screen into the dash with a more elongated shape.
I love the exterior design and the general interior design, however, personally I can't get past the television on top of the dash, or the fake exhaust outlets.
Then you will NOT like the German luxury cars, this is actually quite conservative with it's touchscreens. This focuses more on actual luxury than most other modern luxury cars.
Lincoln has improved drastically. They’ve taken a huge step forward, building vehicles that are far superior to the mediocre cars they were building just a few years ago. Everything Lincoln has put their new face on has proven to be far, FAR superior to the “Letter” badged cars they were building. It’s about time too, because it was beginning to look like the last great Lincoln’s we’re built in the 70’s and 80’s. But Lincoln has a new competitor that’s blowing every other brand out of the water. It’s called GENESIS. That’s Hyundai’s new luxury brand. And Genesis’s two SUV offerings are both a class or two ABOVE anything any other manufacturer builds, as they compare more favorably against the likes of Bentley’s SUV at less than half the price. The Genesis SUV’s don’t look like any other manufacturers’ offerings except the Bentley, but they were designed by the same person. And that’s a great thing too, because the new GENESIS brand SUV’s are both absolutely gorgeous, both inside and out. So when you go shopping for your next new SUV, you’d be an absolute fool if you don’t include the Genesis GV70 or GV80 on the top of your list. Those two SUV’s have set an entirely new standard that’s nearly impossible to beat unless you’re willing to spend more than twice the price for your next new SUV. The fully loaded top trim Genesis GV80 (Prestige trim level) is a couple of thousand dollars LESS than your Lincoln’s mid level (Reserve trim) in this video, yet it has far more features and frankly, is a far more luxurious vehicle for the money. Genesis has brought us a serious contender that frankly, has set an entirely new standard that’s others currently don’t meet. As nice as this Lincoln is, my next new vehicle, which will also be my first SUV, will be the new Genesis GV70 or GV80. They’re simply a step above. All the switch gear’s are made from aluminum. Touch points are all either metal, wood, or leather. Genesis left all those plastic touch points for their competitors to use.
The GV80 is priced and sized more like the Nautilus, of which it blows it away in just about every department except for price. The GV90 will be the Aviator competitor and will likely improve on the GV80...
I love the grill with the exception of the two little chrome pieces that extend lower than the bottom part of the grill. They look goofey.. if they just made that a straight piece across the bottom it'd look much better. Other than that it's beautiful.
Not sure why you say early on American SUV’s when they are competing against any of the premium products in the market? Great review and yes they need a new key FOB!
Now this was a Great Review as always. I'm a Lexus Brand girl, not the SUV the sedans. So this would be my favorite 😍. Not just need to hit a 1Million dollar scratcher so I could afford it
So when you reviewed the explorer which has the same engine and transmission you seemed super excited with how fast the vehicle was...did the aviator seem a lot slower or something?
I'm liking it. What they did with the Aviator. If it can parallel park itself it should also be able to perpendicular bark. If you could have demonstrated that.... And they kept the rear window not too far sloped forward which many companies do making their SUV's act like hatchbacks. But some companies ARE gjoing back to the boxy shape ...Jeep's 2021 Grand Cherokee L line...try to get your hands on one of them to review. Test the Park Assist.
While I am sold on the design of the car, Consumer Reports reader reviews have savaged this car as owners have had a myriad of problems. In fact, in searching for used versions of this car I have come across a number of lemon law buybacks. The lack of a well executed quality is keeping me on the side lines. It's a shame that American manufacturer still cannot execute a quality product.
Well I have two comments. One is you already reviewed this same vehicle 8 months ago. No difference between either of these vehicles. Just surprised you review the exact same vehicle. My second comment actually has to do with how well built this vehicle really and honestly is...or should I say lack of quality. I know several of the new Aviator owners who say the vehicle is more in the shop than on the road. I know this to be true. In fact, a gentleman told me today he got rid of his 2020 Aviator because it was poorly built and constantly in for service. He traded in for a Lincoln Expedition. So as much as you review these vehicles, which everyone you do extremely well at, I must say that owner satisfaction falls well short for the 2020 model.
Your Genesis GV80 video has been out for nearly 2 weeks now. What decides the order of video releases, if there isn't an embargo on them? Or some videos take you longer to cut? Also - when you film these videos when you start with a close up towards you, the camera doesn't re-focus/focus on the car (maybe do it manually)? I keep checking if my glasses are on as the car is out of focus
I suspect the Genesis GV80 will spank the Aviator. But a more interesting comparison is the Aviator vs the Explorer. According to the "build and price" websites a moderately well optioned AWD Reserve trim Aviator has an MSRP between $64K and $65K while the top trim fully loaded Explorer (ST or Platinum trim) tops $60K. For that relatively small premium the Aviator is a far better value. A significantly more upscale interior on multiple counts, a superior tow rating (6700 vs 5600 lbs), a better dealer experience and a higher resale value. Of course, MSRPs often differ from real world transaction prices but even if the difference is closer to $8K or even $10K, the Aviator is arguably a superior value.
All else aside, I think the Aviator is a much more distinctive and elegant vehicle with a stronger road presence than the F Pace S, which blends in with the rest of the sporty SUV crowd, style wise.
GV80 just like its sibling Hyundai Palaside has so much wind noise by the driver and passenger side. Palaside has the same issue and the TSB’s didn’t fix it. I say wait for couple of years before going for the Genesis.
Nice CUV. All the Ford and Chevy investment in CUV, SUV and trucks is starting to arrive. It's going to be interesting to see how the market handles being able to buy these premium vehicles with the big plused up pricing. Will the buyers be using cash, will they be using a 7 year loan, or will they be ok with a $800 per month lease for 3 years w/ $5000 capital cost? We shall see!
I have the Reserve with the seating option and mine has the bench seat with the foldable middle section. Has great power, a little bit noisy in my opinion inside the cabin, should sound more subdued for a luxury model but sounds more like a ST Explorer. The ride is comfortable for 20' rims but roads around America suck and do no justice to the Lincoln's great suspension geometry and rwd platform but Lincoln is moving in the right direction as like a true sports car a true luxury SUV should have a rwd biased platform. Let's hope the reliability will last the test of time and abuse.
I haven’t seen a Lincoln in the DC area for a long time. Nothing but Germans and lots of new G80’s. Looks like they finally are breathing a breathe of fresh air.
Nobody really buys any American brands in the DMV area. When I drove to Baltimore last year somebody asked me what my car was at a gas station (it's just a 2017 Chevy Impala lol).
Have a 2020 aviator reserve with all options. The transmission lurches when put in reverse and the back up camera goes to full blue screen and also loses the reverse sensors.
At 5:30 did the vehicle start? The tach was showing it running but I didn’t hear it turn over. If it started then that is the quietest darn SUV I’ve ever heard.
They all are new definition of (american) luxuries. Corsair = Compact; Nautilus = Midsize; Aviator = 3 row/family full size; Navigator = Pinnacle/the new "Conti"
In 2024, Cadillac will launch an Electric Midsize Third Row SUV called the Cadillac Symboliq, it will definitely be a better competitor to the Lincoln Aviator.
I love your reviews the BEST. Thanks for the helpful information about a $7500 federal tax credit and review of the 2021 RAV4 Prime Hybrid. I showed my older sister your review and she is now going to buy the 2021RAV4 Prime Hybrid. Where is Virginia are you from?
I've tested the Revel in the Navigator and I do not think it was as good as Volvo's Bowers and Wilkins. On top the Navigator I was in had a rattle in the door tweeter.
Volvo’s have very high wind and road noise, doesn’t matter what stereo you have. Try an Audi Q7 with the Bang Olufsen stereo. Most quietest suv and the sound quality is amazing.
The most amazing piece of design technology Lincoln has brought to the table are those comfort seats. I have never sat in seats such as these before. You could drive a thousand miles in those seats and never get sore. The Escalade exterior and interior accoutrements are beautiful, but the Lincoln designed comfort seating available in all their models makes it all moot. I know, I'm weird.
You have to wonder (well, not really) why the press vehicle given by Ford doesn't even having working features like the chime. Guess they are holding to that Fix Or Repair Daily mantra.
Apparently my explosive comment about buying an Aviator caused WWIII to break out. The difference between Lincoln and Genesis is not exactly like Mercedes and Trabant. Test as many as you want, and buy what you like best. Thankfully, we live in the USA where we have choices. My choice does not have to be yours. I know Armistice Day was two days ago, but maybe we can call a tardy ceasefire and not denigrate each other.
Does anyone know how long the massage lasts on the seats in the Aviator - or for that matter, any other vehicle? I've read some reviews that the massage lasts anywhere from 15 minutes to 30 minutes - but on a long trip that wouldn't work. And needing to keep turning it back on would be a waste. My massage chair here at home only allows me to have a 30 minute massage and then it goes back to an upright position and I need to start it all over again. I've asked the rep for Dr. Fuji Massage Chairs if it would be programmed to go longer - was told "No - it could burn out the motors". Would that be true for a car?

Interesting how you keep emphasizing “American” as if it has no chance against foreign brands, and frankly very little domestic competition.
This isn’t only reserved to the Lincoln Aviator. The Ford Explorer, which shares the same platform, also has the same exact issues as the Aviator.
What a wad. I’m sure if he needs your advice he will give it to you. Expert.....turd.
Looks like someone got a haircut mid video! Great looking car!
Great informative video, bravo.
Great review. I am thinking about the Reserve II or the Jaguar F Pace S. Which one would you pick?
All else aside, I think the Aviator is a much more distinctive and elegant vehicle with a stronger road presence than the F Pace S, which blends in with the rest of the sporty SUV crowd, style wise.
The best American mid-sized SUV. But I'll give my money to the GV80.
GV80 isnt the size of an Aviator, the Aviator is way larger
@@joecool9739 Not way larger. But certainly more room in that 3rd row.
GV80 just like its sibling Hyundai Palaside has so much wind noise by the driver and passenger side. Palaside has the same issue and the TSB’s didn’t fix it. I say wait for couple of years before going for the Genesis.
@@al151 I've never heard any review say that. Maybe you work for Toyota? :)
@@johnholst It’s true, i have the palisade.
Let's hope the reliability will last the test of time and abuse.
what kind of suction mount do you use for the Sony action cam?
I haven’t seen a Lincoln in the DC area for a long time. Nothing but Germans and lots of new G80’s. Looks like they finally are breathing a breathe of fresh air.
Nobody really buys any American brands in the DMV area. When I drove to Baltimore last year somebody asked me what my car was at a gas station (it's just a 2017 Chevy Impala lol).
I like it. Nice review!
So beautiful
Wonderful vehicle!👍 I’m shocked though that in 2021 they don’t have wireless Apple CarPlay.🤷♂️
I noticed this too, same as big brother Navigator. The baby brother, Nautilus, has wireless care-play this year.
Have a 2020 aviator reserve with all options. The transmission lurches when put in reverse and the back up camera goes to full blue screen and also loses the reverse sensors.
I haven't experienced the same issues but I was notified of a recall on a reverse camera issue. You should look into that if you haven't already.
That recall was done along with 3 door poppers, exhaust manifold and the transmission had to be reflashed ( wouldn’t shift out of fifth gear)
At 5:30 did the vehicle start? The tach was showing it running but I didn’t hear it turn over. If it started then that is the quietest darn SUV I’ve ever heard.
They all are new definition of (american) luxuries.
Corsair = Compact;
Nautilus = Midsize;
Aviator = 3 row/family full size;
Navigator = Pinnacle/the new "Conti"
Better than the Lincoln Navigator? In my opinion, the Navigator is the #1 SUV on the market.
How does this compare to the Yukon Denali?
Cadillac is missing out, they need a new xt6
In 2024, Cadillac will launch an Electric Midsize Third Row SUV called the Cadillac Symboliq, it will definitely be a better competitor to the Lincoln Aviator.
@@justinsmith2598 I am glad to hear that
@@mikedavis2083 Me too, I agree that the XT6 is a disappointment but at least there’s going to be a replacement!
@@justinsmith2598 oof that name tho...
Jacob B Walters Yeah but it’s better than the name XT6, at least Cadillac is going back to real names!
Great review.
7:26 what you came for
Ikr So yummy!!
They play the chime when door is still open
What cameras are being used to record this... is that sony?
Gorgeous SUV!
Test the Escalade man
Love the looks but I still hate the rear end.
This video was so long that his hair grew so long between edits
Beautiful car!
I would challenge Lincoln to have sync four in all 2021 vehicles the nautilus has it so they have the tech
Make a video of the Rivian Truck
Perhaps once that goes on sale he'll make a video about it.
I'm waiting for the new sync. Sync 3 is so dated
