We are GM people and since 1999 have driven 2 Suburbans, 1 Yukon XL, and our latest...a 2015 Yukon XL Denali. I am a brand loyalist and did not really expect to move away from GM BUT on a trip to Boston a few years back the rental company gave us a Lincoln Nautilus and it was so much fun to drive. I saw the 2020 Aviator when it rolled out and thought it was striking. We don't get new vehicles often, and honestly with our active lives and 3 children (baseball, softball, and ALL the other activities) needed the full size SUV. On a trip to Colorado this past March I wanted to rent an Aviator but they did not have one available, so I asked for a Range Rover. I enjoyed driving the Range Rover and considered it for our next purchase, but I just kept coming back to the Aviator. Then my brother bought a BMW X5 and I drove it and enjoyed riding around with him in it.....but I kept coming back to the Aviator. I wanted to buy and experience American luxury! Finally, I test drove the only Aviator on the lot at Planet Lincoln in Spring, TX and I was blown away. The acceleration, the handling, the interior, the Revel stereo system....all of it was awesome and I was sold on it. I pre-ordered a 2023 before I left. That was May 26th and a mere 3 months later, my custom-built black 2023 Lincoln Aviator Black Label AWD, chalet interior with all the bells and whistles came! We picked it up Saturday, August 27th and had the best experience. The drive home (about 2 hours) was so much fun!! LOVE the lighting, both interior and exterior and the way the Lincoln bows and greets with the "light show" you when you walk up to it! The 28 speaker Revel speaker system makes you feel like you are in the front row of a concert and the little demonstration that is available in the "Sound" app on the infotainment system blew us away! The kids keep commenting on the huge sunroof and how sporty the car is. They love the big console in the back and how they can control the music. I NEVER thought I would sit inside of a Lexus Crossover and Full-sized SUV and think they felt slightly cheap until I sat inside the Aviator & Navigator. Everything felt sub par after my Lincoln experience. They really left a memorable impression.
@Jahonglass The Lincoln was really good! I meant the Lincoln was so luxurious that when I sat inside of a few lexus vehicles afterward, they ended up feeling cheap. The Lincoln made the Lexus SUV & sedan feel like they were some regular car. This was at an auto show on the same day & side by side. Hands down, the Lincoln felt more premium!
I think you are a little too much overpowered by american patriotism. Given Lexus is superior to any other make on a molecular level, I could argue that any Lexus sedan and SUV would come on top in the built quality and luxury department. True luxury and quality are always slightly understated. But to be fair, did you compare the Aviator to an equally positioned Lexus model, say, LX600? Because if you did and you were honest with yourself, then you'd never say what you said. Also, can the Aviator go where the LX can go? I mean, crossing rivers, climbing rocky mountains and swim in lakes? Or is it just like its "ball room" german counterparts? Having said that, I'm absolutely stunned by the latest Aviator from what I've seen in videos and pictures so far. No real word experience, though.
It isn't, the 2020 Navigator is about the same size as the original Navigator and this is smaller. This is a bit bigger than the original Aviator but that is most likely to make room for the Nautilus and Corsair, both of which are smaller than the Aviator.
Because it’s plastic, it’s cheap and a financially feasible way to make an interior look premium without going overboard. You can see a TON of it on lower end trims on higher end German cars, and even makes its way on the top trims.
Doug thank you so much for providing your positive feedback on this Aviator Black label. After watching your video a dozen or more times I ordered that exact color combination you demonstrated . I ve had the car for 5 weeks and I cannot get over the quality and attention to detail they have put into this car. After having a car that had it and having my battery die... it sucked. I would prefer to not have it again, but most high end cars have gone to it or will here soon.
Strixx I had the same system in my 2011 CTS coupe. It can be a hassle if the battery dies and you are outside the car though, especially in the cold where the window will break if they use the airbag.
@@godzzila I have never had an Issue in my 2006 C6Z, they have always worked like they should and have no had one fail. I have had the battery fail once, but takes maybe 10 seconds to pop the trunk, and pull the cable to open the door from the outside. Inside is even easier.
Strixx True, at the time I didn’t know about the door unlock inside the trunk so I was stuck outside the car in the winter like an idiot haha. I think the best part was the battery was in the trunk so using the internal spare key and jumpers it fixed it right away. So I guess the system works as it was designed.
Exactly, I strongly disagree with Doug on the glowing badges being "stupid", I always thought it looked pretty neat in my opinion, the Lincoln Aviator being no exception to that either.
I drive the Nautilus, can’t be happier with it. The entire vehicle is amazing, one thing I wanted to say is, the sound system is second to none! The sound quality will blow you away.
@MY TRUX BLAZE pretty sure there is no way to disable them built into the car as they are required safety features by law. You can probably do it in some aftermarket way, but that might make your car illegal (not that most cops would have enough attention to detail to notice such a minor feature being silenced).
Well everyone has their own opinion. Imo, it might look ok on a normal car, but it's bit flashy for a luxury car. It kinda gives it a cheap look, like an after thought. They should also give an option to turn this off.
Yeah, I agree it should be on a switch and not always on with the headlights (maybe there's an option in the settings?) I actually think of it as an extra piece of attention to detail. If it were cheap, I would expect something like that to be some easy add on that you would buy at Wal-Mart or something. Just like those fake add on vents. :P
Checked this car out today. Whole time I just kept muttering in disbelief, "this can't be American. There's no way this is American." And I'm American...
It’s a brilliant car. I’d have agreed with you too about American cars until very recently (and I’m not American). A couple of things happened - the car industry like everything else has become global and American consumers started demanding more, and buying European luxury cars. At the same time, the tech and manufacturing methods have become globalised so every car everywhere has components from all around the world. And in the case of Ford, don’t forget they have a very large European development and manufacturing arm based in Germany that is almost independent of Detroit, and started several years ago to bring a lot of the German automotive tech across into their North American cars (lots of Bosch and Siemens systems, the interior is made by French company Faurecia, etc, etc.). Ford also learned a thing or two about how to make contemporary upscale cars from Volvo when they owned it.
if he was a human "adult" it would wear something other than shorts and a T-shirt to review such a vehicle. He doesn't like the lighted badge at the front but he likes the little lock LED on the side of the vehicle - really?
But quality should get atleast 1 point less because of the cheap plastic on the doors, the steering wheel column, the tachometer and the middle console
2 years in, and it is reliable. The only time I have taken it into a dealership was for a few minor recalls which you are updated on the App before they come in the mail. It performs, the steering is great, it looks great, and it would be tough to walk away from Lincoln at this point.
I’ve had good luck with Lincoln. Never had to do anything other than routine maintenance. In a couple months I’ll be looking to get a new vehicle. The Aviator is at the top of the list.

Oh you shouldn't have mentioned that. I have suggestions on what should have been done. The headlights should be a little lower and a little narrower. There should have also been sharper creases to the grille to give it a slightly sharper less rounded look. The grille should have slightly straighter lines between the curved corners and it needs the Corsair taillights. Narrower headlights would have let the top of the front fender to extend over the top of them so the fender wouldn't be cut off where it meets the top of the headlights. It's beautiful anyway.

Well, at least he dressed up nice for this video instead of just wearing something like he rolled out of a college dorm after a night of binge drinking.
It's based on 0-60 times, though their hybrid version, dubbed Grand Touring, I'd imagine is probably closer to 4.5-4.7 thanks to the instant torque from the electric motor. Albeit that costs just a couple hundred less than his tested black label 🙈🙈
Doug Demuro I watch all your videos I love them, I have noticed something recently you never showcase the sunroof of cars, even they have the sunroof, maybe you forget about it or they are not so exciting for you but I like some cars has the biggest and widest sunroof
Overall a pretty informative overview. Just a few points and questions: - How did you determine the buttons up front are aluminum and not just the usual chrome plating on ABS? -Border Crossing mode switches between imperial and metric units when crossing the US & Canadian Border -The rear seats are ventilated, not cooled. Ventilated just uses a fan while cooled require a peltier pad which many GM and JLR vehicles use in the front seats
Faax Taher Same with acceleration, it compares it to the fastest-accelerating car on the market, which is really dumb as well. Mixing reliability and interior quality is also a dumb move in my opinion :/
@@xienty9300 I am referring to the new GLE 450 4matic. It starts at $61k as base and tops out around ~$80k with options. It has a twin turbo 6 cylinder with EQ Boost that makes comparable HP to the Aviator. It is all wheel drive, the trim inside is amazing and it has many unique features. Although the GLE might go a bit above $80k with ALL options, the P1 or P2 middle-of-the-road option packages make the GLE comparable to this Aviator.....and that only brings the vehicle up to about $68-$75k. You should see the new CLA! It used to kind of suck. But now it comes with ridiculous standard features and options for its class. Mercedes has upped their value in the last few years. The Corvette has been using electronic door latches since 2005 with very good success.
Strixx I had the same system in my 2011 CTS coupe. It can be a hassle if the battery dies and you are outside the car though, especially in the cold where the window will break if they use the airbag.

Golden age begun

However, I agree that the aviator is amazing. I do not consider the AMG models to be the highest trim levels. That would be like counting M series models as the highest trim with BMW or "S" models with Audi. They are different models entirely and are marketed as such.
Ooh! Sweet ride. I'll see if I can pick one up used in a couple of years.
I dont suggest u get one tht doesnt have warranty
I would hope it depreciates enough to where I can buy that thing in... 6 or 7 years.
It'll be junk by then
I’ve seen 2019 Escalades. Impressive but not enough. Then I saw this.
i think the lincoln badge at night looks good when lit. the Mercedes badge looks a bit tacky.
Brian Speckert couldn’t agree more
Benz badge is too large
in Europa you have lots of borders with no control and signs. so it could be nice if the car tells you when you crossing one.
Ron Bokje I wonder if it also suggests changing between km/h and mph?
But Lincolns aren't sold in Europe.
It does tell you
Ben Huang how about importing one?
Truly a beautiful SUV, especially that interior.
Not as luxurious as the Cullian though
Bob The dude no shit that car is fucking $400,000
Bob The the cullian starts at $325,000... this fully loaded aviator sticker price is a bit over $80,000
That pasted on screen look is very 2010.
@@BobThe9534 no, but that's a little more expensive bro. That's apples to oranges. Why even compare?
I personally like the emblem to light up, you can see the reflection when you pull behind another vehicle, just a cool feature to have.
As a European i have to admit this is the first American car i’ve ever wanted. Good job USA!
BTW: Doug, make a video on an old Citroën like the DS, SM or CX. Easily the quirkiest cars ever made!
I wish lincoln is also sold in europe instead of terrible vignale
video is up for 1 minute and u already know, damn.
Not even a GT350?
c8 corvette?
Brands should EARN your respect and while im not European im team USA but yea this is finally just as good if not better full stop.
