  • People always ask me what do you do during a floating hull endorsement. Well, join me and Trent Robinson as we show what a typical flight lesson entails during to become a seaplane pilot!
Follow along as we conduct normal water operations, a glassy water takeoff and landing, beaching operations, step taxi including a 360 degree step turn on the water and lake operations including anchoring!
When I'm not flying the Grumman Mallard on my day job, I conduct floating hull endorsement training up in Darwin Australia, using the popular Lake Buccaneer. Endorsement training generally takes a couple of days with about 7-10 hours of flight training, plus briefings. For more information, check out the link below:

The camera angles and editing of this flight lesson make it super easy to understand and follow what is going on. Thank you for this! I am currently considering getting a seaplane for myself (Aero Adventure Aventura II, to be precise), so this lesson is very valuable!

So it's looking like you can stand and both the wings and the nose of this particular plane, so many great fishing spots on it!

Have you heard anything on the progress of the Turboprop Albatross Production in Australia? That’s going to be an absolute beast! Curious how much it will cost. Great video and thanks for uploading it!

Gee a lot to learn, know and practice for amphibians! I was nervous just watching, and in long, wide waterways in perfect conditions..... Great instructions, obviously a great instructor is so important. Tennessee, USA

    Excellent training video!
Interesting how rougher water ie: hitting wave crests can easily begin to induce porpoise… instructor saying to catch it with a little forward pressure on the yoke…
Interesting aileron position during step taxiing…looks like you re creating drag against the direction of turn in order not to plant the inner sponson or prevent unwelcome roll during the step taxi turn? I wonder how it handles in rougher conditions….
What about sloshing water in the airframe? Automatic bilge pump takes care of this? Hmmm
    Cheers

Top video! Genuine question, how do you deal with cross when flying floating hull in the top end?
