As a percussionist, I am fascinated by this book. It does precisely what it is supposed to do. Fits the theme perfectly, supports the melodies, tasteful, comes out strong when necessary, and backs up when drums aren't the main focus. Incredible.
Ladies and Gentleman: the perfect balance between emotion and passion and clean beats. You take a look at their faces and the way they move, but you look at their hands and how they're playing, and they have hands like surgeons (very precise and just.... AHHHH!) LOVE YOU CROWN
Well as someone who's fan favorite corps is The Cadets, it makes me sad to see them dropping some meaty books in the last few years and still receiving low scores.
Hear lots of percussionists don't like their book, but as a non percussionist, I can say I love their book (especially intro) and the visual with it too! :)
dog de la frog they're mostly talking about recent books. Many people believe that crowns percussion section has cost them championships. From last year and this year it is very clear that they're trying to fix it, and they're doing a good job.
NovaInc. It may be easier but that means it's cleaner. But there are some parts that are impossibly difficult to clean up and these guys executed it 111%.
While I agree with you, SCV is piss-clean, from past shows, This is clean for Crown. I personally loved Crown's percussion this year, but I am also very wise that SCV was off the charts, this is still clean compared to Crown's past years. ;p (do note I'm not trying to be mean I'm just trying to 1.] state my opinion and 2.] put in some reasons. have a nice day :) )
Yeah it isn’t like they just show up and do only this. Playing show music in the lot has been a thing forever and adding any form of the visual they actually do is just smart and helps clean said music. I just don’t understand your logic here
Pff... in 1993 my corps beat the snot out of Carolina Crown in the Division II/III softball championship. It'll take a miracle for this corp to earn my respect.
Lol... it's usually the talented who have a sense of humor. Is that you on the end (left on screen)? Y'all were carrying some neato-looing drums this year. The drum feature is very groovy - I geek out easily when presented with things such as those alternating sweeps or whatever they're called. I have to ask you, do you know who arranged this year for CC? The snare feature (immediately following the aforementioned tenor feature) is nearly the spitting image of 1992 Crossmen. Congrats on your drum corps accomplishment, Zach. Remember, God hates cigarettes and the manufacturers of those cancer sticks. North Carolina...lol... South Carolina... Hiltonhead... NO SMOKING. You'll become a hack like your predecessors if you distribute or profit in any way from tobacco.
Great job, Zach! Thanks for the information. Lol... Thom Hannum was leading the rudimental charge with Cadets back in my day. The greatest :) (Btw, I now know that C.C. are based in South Carolina. This is good.) Peace, my friend:)

Thom Hannum’s writing for ya
I have never seen a more handsome battery line
Bruh have you heard of bluecoats 🤣 always the handsomest buncha dudes

LOVE YOU CROWN
Noah amen
These guys are getting real clean
This is actually dripping in testosterone. These guys have the biggest pairs in all of the east coast. Period.
* feminist in the background gets triggered * XD this is why you don't see many girls in drumline
Nah fam cadets are dropping the real east coast beats and still getting under appreciated for it
What are you 10?
Well as someone who's fan favorite corps is The Cadets, it makes me sad to see them dropping some meaty books in the last few years and still receiving low scores.
Home Wild this comment was epic dude
There is a reason why Carolina Crown has been my favorite Corp for the past 3 years
Hear lots of percussionists don't like their book, but as a non percussionist, I can say I love their book (especially intro) and the visual with it too! :)
dog de la frog I think it's extra af...too much visual, surprised it's clean
This is by far my favorite book. I’m a percussionist and everything about this book is just incredibly awesome.
dog de la frog they're mostly talking about recent books. Many people believe that crowns percussion section has cost them championships. From last year and this year it is very clear that they're trying to fix it, and they're doing a good job.
Last season was good just sounded watered.
Steve Buscemi No one mentions their guard tho...
Crown has the most musical book of 2018 while simultaneously creating clarity from 50+ yards away, with exceptionally difficult body. Amazing.
Miss this writing
Crown Battery in "BEAST MODE"!
7:16 oooo that bass tho!!
6:30 sounds like a cadence for a parade
Those shots can kill people
Is that the center snare of Cavaliers 2011 directing in the front? He's clearly having a blast working with this line.
Yes it is.
I just got back from the DCI event at the Navy stadium and WOW, all i can say
I love this book
That gock shot timbre is heavenly.
My favorite line this year, possibly ever. I know I’m a young fan, only been watching for 3-4 years, but DAMN is this a great line. Love the body
finally. a line that's actually making an effort to match the intensity and cleanliness of their spectacular horns.
This might not be the most loved crown show but damn it if it doesn’t look like a blast to play
Underrated show! the replay value is up there with Kinetic Noise for me 🙌🏻
My man Ozzy putting in the works. Congrats on making center Tenor this upcoming season!
8:47 I hated this part. Absolutely terrible.
bruh
I've made these jokes. . . you got me.
I was about to flame you
OH DEAR CHRIST SOME OF THE HARDEST BOOK I'VE SEEN IN MY LIFE!!!!!!!!
40ish years ago....Bass drum....tripples...quads ....roto toms....competition marching band.........in my day...that was called Tight chops...nice
This book is so musical
SEE YOU THIS WEEKEND!!!
At 6:16 was their drum tech yelling at them?
These guys are so clean.
I just now realized phil taps off with the left. Lmao
Yea, he just said on his Instagram it’s because he wanted better left hand downstrokes
@@zach.a.fields interesting that he has that freedom
2:50
Is it bad that I could pick out my favorite part of the show they were playing?
Lol I walk in at 1:08 in the bottom left
I see a rhythm x 2018 snare in there.
I see some skins are peeled off from tenor drums lol
At 7:26 are the top two basses doing hand to hands?
Great book, very cleanly executed. It sounds like it might be a little too easy for these players lol
NovaInc. It may be easier but that means it's cleaner. But there are some parts that are impossibly difficult to clean up and these guys executed it 111%.
Those rimshots sound like gunshots
so good
I love there’s battery this year
Scary 😳
I have always wanted to be part of DCI but I don’t want that to be the only thing I do in live
If you think this is clean, y'all didn't listen to SCV. Seriously improved over prior years when drumline cost them Championships.
While I agree with you, SCV is piss-clean, from past shows, This is clean for Crown. Funny to watch 2 times the normal speed
my brothers old apartment is in the background haha
Is anyone elae creeped out by the fact they all have the EXACT same body type? Lol
holy hell
Weren’t there 5 quads?
i see 4 here, maybe one is injured or out of view?
Shade Miller One got sent home early cuz of attitude issues apparently
One was sent home very early season maybe even before the season started
Xoner really, cause I thought it was an injury
Unfff yum
Great book, solid execution. I'm just not a fan of the needless body movements and visuals. This is good stuff nonetheless.
Nah body just makes it fun
Visuals are an important part of modern drum corps and the marching arts as a whole.
i think that their visuals are pretty badass
Part of their show, "Beast," so I would say not "needless." Fits very well with what the rest of the corps is doing on the field.
I was there and personally I thought it was kind of intimidating and it fits the theme well
I remember when warming up for the show, was about warming up for the show...
Shawn Naumann how does them running the entire show with drill/body damn near identical to the actual field show not qualify as warming up?
Yeah it isn’t like they just show up and do only this. Playing show music in the lot has been a thing forever and adding any form of the visual they actually do is just smart and helps clean said music. I just don’t understand your logic here
Schack looking like Tyler the Creator over here.
