I really hope the writer and staff stick and stay at Crown. Funky beats. Very unique and interesting to listen to. Crown is doing something special here. Reminds me of old VK and Bridgemen having smokin lines no matter how the corps was doing as a whole
Dan Hurd Thom Hannum’s been writing for Crown since 2012, and Travis Peterman has been in charge of the battery since 2015. Some of the tech staff has changed but for the most part there’s been a lot of consistency in the last few years. They’ve built something unique, and it’s only gonna get better.
@@tim.noonan somehow I feel like I knew that. Part of this doesn't feel like a Hannum book. Then I remember the Cadets and Star lines he produced in the latter 80's, early 90's and it kinda makes sense. His range of writing styles is pretty spectacular.
Dan Hurd the only thing he takes into account when writing each book, is that particular show concept, and the brass/wind arrangement. There’s very little repetition from year to year, because he writes what he thinks that particular show needs to support the brass book, and basically nothing else. Other writers often seem to stick to certain rudimental vocabulary and come back to those ideas year in and year out. Thom really doesn’t do that much at all. This is why his writing seems to be so diverse. There are definitely ways in which he uses his writing to supplement the brass book that consistently employs, but that doesn’t mean what he writes will sound like anything he’s previously written. In fact quite the opposite.
Trust me, I don’t mind giving it up for groups that are throwing down in the lot. But when it gets to the point that I have to edit out F-bombs (which you can hear at 5:25) then that’s getting out of hand.

@@samshoemaker7865 Thanks man! I was actually bass 4 last summer! And Joseph Noah is the name of one of our snare drummers, this years center snare! Hes a rapper and a music producer, and is a live vocalist performer in this years George Mason University Indoor Drumline Show!
The drumming is bad ass as it ever was. The activity's costuming approach is off the rails. The class is all gone, ceded to WGI Outdoor. I miss seeing Vanguard looking like Vanguard... this is so off-putting...
