Beautiful gun. I was just watching one of your older videos of the S&W 629 3inch Talo. I’ve decided I’m going to buy one here in the next week or so. It was definitely one of my favorite videos you’d done. Can’t go wrong with a revolver
Thanks for sharing! Deer Hollow definitely makes the best reproduction Colt grips, period! I bought a pair of his service style grips for my new 3” Python because they look exactly like the grips that came on the vintage Pythons. Sorry, I lied! They actually look much, much better than the factory original ones. The wood he uses is fantastic, grain is amazing, not like the plain pallet wood the factory used in many of their grips!
They are out of stock when I go to their website. I've added myself to the email notification list but haven't heard anything since. I know they are a small (perhaps even one-man) operation so I'll continue to wait. I'm sure there are a lot of people like me with C-Notes set aside for the day the notification hits.
Depending on what generation he is working on at the time. He is a one man shop and just the clear coat process takes days to do. The grips are done in small batches and sellout fast. Took some time for these to come in stock and well worth the wait.
I'm a one man operation, so it can take some time for grips to come back in stock. Depending on when you put yourself on the notification list, it can probably take up to a month or two before I get to the variation you're looking for. I try to concentrate on the factory style reproduction grips, so special variations (like presentation grips, exotics etc) will take longer.
@@oloffornehed5585 Thank you for the reply. I understand and appreciate the nature of your work so I will continue to wait patiently. I did get a notice that the "Weirdwood" grips were back in stock but when I went to the website, the page no longer existed. I'd rather obtain the factory reproduction grips, especially Gen 2, so wasn't too worried about it. Thanks again. You do amazing work.
@@ObscureImages I only had two "weirdwood" sets this time, and they were sold about 45 minutes after I listed them. I don't have any of that wood left, so I don't think I'll be able to offer them again. There will be more gen 2 though.
I must have either been lucky or Colt fixed that issue because I have not had the loose sight issue and I currently have 2 pythons and had a total of 3.
Excellent example of craftsmanship in wood. The man takes pride in what he does. Thanks for showing us. 👍
You're welcome, it's stuff like this that needs to be shown so more collectors and new python owners can see.
Awsome looking grips J.W.
And my compliments to Deer Hollow.
Best Wishes from Montana! M.H.
Thanks 👍
These grip are better than the original ! I’ve got one pair for my 1987 python.. absolutely amazing
I thought the same myself.

Beautiful work! 👍🏽😊❤️🇺🇸
Yes it is real custom work and candy for us collectors.

No doubt!

Very nice!!
Thanks!
Very nice
His work is the best out there.
Olaf's Python grips are better than the originals. He apparently uses a higher grade of walnut and his workmanship is second to none.
100%

Addendum: For clarification, I added myself a few weeks ago, not today.

Ive always wondered about deer hollow. Ive seen alot of ppl showing new Colts with some obvious finish issues.
His grips are flawless and made to the highest quality and far surpasses even the original Python grips.
Will these grips fit 2020 Pythons?
Yes they do!
Yes they do, and gives your 2020 python that last touch it needs.
Deer Hollow grips are the absolute best you can get.
Have you had any issues with the rear sight on any of your 2020 Pythons? I'm on the fence about replacing it on mine with the Wilson combat sight.
I must have either been lucky or Colt fixed that issue because I have not had the loose sight issue and I currently have 2 pythons and had a total of 3.
Is there a big difference between these grips over the new 2020 grips? Do you have more traction while firing with these?
These are exact reproductions of the original python grips. I do think they feel better in the hand and look better.
The checkering on the Deer Hollow grips grips is raised, so it's definitely more aggressive than the recessed checkering on the new Python grips.
