CGB's epic quest to sequence questing druid correctly
I liked when he said he was going to play it at the beginning of a sequence, then completely ignored it and confused himself during combat.
difficulty: impossible
Hahaha this comment made me laugh hard 😃 I was like "You forgot the druid, play the druid!" the entire time😅
@@deadneck131:20
was anyone counting how many counters he missed during this quest? :D
That one counter in the final game was pure genius, well played
when you cast questing druid during your end step you can play them until your NEXT end step.
That game against control was awesome. Great to see a deck able to grind it out against multiple boardwipes.
@covertgoblue for the future, there is a line of text that says, "This card was exiled this turn." to know what cards were exiled this turn or last.
19:09 Casting Seek the Beast in the Endstep, before it expires will grant you 2 extra cards for your next turn, cause its worded "until your next endstep" ... i think
as a Light up the night enjoyer i love this deck. thanks man - i love these kind of decks that make you think
Deck
2 Forest (M20) 280
3 Plains (VOW) 398
1 Island (KHM) 395
2 Swamp (NEO) 288
1 Mountain (MID) 383
1 Llanowar Wastes (BRO) 264
1 Karplusan Forest (DMU) 250
1 Haunted Ridge (MID) 263
1 Shipwreck Marsh (MID) 267
2 Cemetery Desecrator (VOW) 100
1 Restless Fortress (WOE) 259
2 Jetmir's Garden (SNC) 250
2 Raffine's Tower (SNC) 254
2 Spara's Headquarters (SNC) 257
2 Xander's Lounge (SNC) 260
2 Ziatora's Proving Ground (SNC) 261
4 Leyline Binding (DMU) 24
4 Herd Migration (DMU) 165
3 Phyrexian Fleshgorger (BRO) 121
2 Atraxa, Grand Unifier (ONE) 196
1 Lukka, Bound to Ruin (ONE) 207
2 Etali, Primal Conqueror (MOM) 137
4 Invasion of Alara (MOM) 230
2 Virtue of Persistence (WOE) 115
4 Bramble Familiar (WOE) 164
1 Up the Beanstalk (WOE) 195
2 The Kami War (NEO) 227
1 Galvanic Giant (WOE) 52
1 Sunfall (MOM) 40
4 Greater Tanuki (NEO) 189
1 Sunblade Samurai (NEO) 39
1 Restless Cottage (WOE) 258
Wrap your brain around this one 😂 if the deck in this video was a pile then this thing is a junk car 😂😂 but it works so well. One thing i changed was the luka is now drag to the bottom since you can justify being able to boardwipe off invasion of alara. Make sure you cast the adventure side of bramble familiar or galvanic giant when you hit them with invasion
Questing Druid says that the cards go away at the beginning of your next end step so I think you can cast it in your endstep and still have your next turn to play them.
I conclusion - Yes I think you're right. And it's relevant for dodging counterspells and "chaining" with older "impulse draw" cards - which go to until end of (next) turn = until your next turns cleanup step. If it was until your next cleanup step instead - you still could not "chain" two seek the beasts as the ending of both the original and one cast from exile from the original happens at some times. I suppose the difference is intentional - but maks it annoying to track the expiration timings of different impulse draws on paper.. You need separate piles for impulse and beastseeked exiles even if they're about to expire in same turns end phase - one expires in end step and another in the cleanup step.
I agree with your take on board wipes against this deck. I got hit with 4 sun falls and 4 farewells against UW, still pulled out a W. This deck is dummy resilient.
I know it's only 1 green card but the mana base clearly shows it's Naya...
This deck is extremely fun to play too, I really love all of the options and different ways of playing within one deck. You can really have fun with each match by switching gears. Having all of that card advantage and cards that synergies with getting that advantage is insane.
This deck is porb going to be the next deck I'm going to save up to craft, does so much I love to do in magic. Wide boards that grow big and "draw" tons to keep in the game. Reminds me of the green white enchantment deck if you build around that 4 mana when you cast an enchantment make a spirt that as big as the amount of spirts eventually gives them flying but does dies to farewell.
The card you are talking about is an enchantment that def exiles with Farewell. But it’s still good against those decks. I play it.
@@patmacrotch5611 Yeah, I meet to say dies to farewell thanks for the catch haha.
Don't
Gotta say- super fun coincidence that both you and MTGGoldfish posted your videos on this deck at the same time, it’s sweet seeing how you play it vs how Seth does
That seems like a fun & resilient deck. It seems to me that it relies heavily on Pia Nalaar... if opponent plays "The End" on Pia, this deck will lose much of its power. Great content! I loved it how you used the bivouac to activate the other bivouac to get the +1+1 counter... great play
could pack some protection spells maybe instead of the all-out design. the pressure is working though so yea.
Invasion of gobakhan is in the deck you just gotta flip it and then you're covered with lightshield array
@@loremaster6828light shield is the answer to the end.
Maybe some Skrevls to protect Pia?
Awesome matches, specially the last one, and it was really nice see the evolution of CGB getting to know better the deck and get to adapt his sequencing.
19:09 Correct me if im wrong but I think if you set a stop at end step you could cast the druid during the endstep before the cleanup and keep the cards until the "next endstep" like druid's adventure describes.
I built an adventure exile deck white/red/blue modeled after your deck and it carried me all the way to mythic this season. Thank you for your videos I've never watched something so informative
This deck is such a nice change from the meta. Fun and different!
I never wanted you to win a game more than that one against #8 ranked mono red. Now he can sit there and mindlessly play whatever he happens to draw for the next hour just to get back to where he was.
Everytime I get back into MTGArena I immediately search for your youtube channel and binge out on your videos. You're so fun to watch and incredibly knowledgeable, thank you for your time and effort in putting these videos together for us!
Old time boomer that started his magic games at a pizza joint with revised and arabian nights. I have been watching all your content for years and it is my chill zone after hard work days. I am a passionate blue player but this list looks really juicy. Hope to fulfill my dream one day to get to a magic con and meet you there. Well probably once my son gets old enough to play magic and it is 2:1 against my wife :D
... huh. Boomer (* 1946-1964) with a son not old enought to play M:tG?
Wow!
Damn, those last two matches against the control decks were absolutely delicious. Love to see it.
this deck was one of the most entertaining ive seen in years, no joke. would love to see a 2nd video of this at anytime haha
This deck ran me over yesterday. Its really REALLY good when it pops
Been messing with this deck concept a lil bit, and threw a Jetmir in place of the Chandran. That proved to be way more fun than it had any business being.
The Control player definitely played each boardwipe as if they expected you to concede after each one.
just went 0-8 with this in top 300 mythic, was so screwed by all the tap-lands and inconsistancys of the deck, seems very weak against some metadecks in the format, wont be screwing up my rank more today, so on the the next deck :D
Yah I'm having the same experience. Either I'm just too dumb for this deck, or CGB got incredibly lucky in his matchups. I'll keep trying because I like the concept of the deck, but it's very disappointing so far :(
@@antwon87 i think he had some great games, its not uncommon though, ive crafted meme decks before that sucked but went like 9-0 on luck :p
I was having the same issue. If I get pia out and she sticks for a turn or two, this deck is great. But standard has SOOO much cheap removal she never sticks.
And in a control matchup, they just nuke the board over and over if they don’t just counter her.
The disrespect of getting beat by a land... just beautiful, bivouac for the win!
Tried coming back to this deck and I'm confidently 0-15 or so.
Deck is fun as hell, but feels rough on the bo1 ladder. Deck just doesn't function without Pia
I was blown away when I saw an Aftermath card on the ladder. Now I know why, the dojo was representing
Outstanding deck that I wish that I’d thought of. Kudos to the clever mind that did and to the content guru that showcased it. I’ll be rocking this on the ladder for a hot minute.
not even once was questing druid // seek the best played correctly, a testament that some cards // interactions go beyond anyone's radar
19:23 you can cast seek the beast at the end step and play cards exiled with it until your next turn's end step
Glad i pulled 4 pias amongst the like dozen or so packs i opened from Aftermath. Lol.
Sadly i think chandra is pretty bad here. I think more Gobakhans make a lot of sense as well honestly. The protection can be huge for your pia, attacking their hand is great, and building your board is amazing.
Jaya could be amazing in this deck though. You have wide boards so her -2 hits often. Her -1 lets you play something from exile. And her +1 gives you a prowess creature which is awesome considering how many non-creatures are in the deck. I might have to mess with that some myself.
Oddly, the deck feels like it could really use some mana generation. Maybe Meria from DMU. Wait. She doesnt work with tokens. Hmmm. You might still be able to make her work, but that definitely makes it wayyyy trickier. Probably best for a different deck.
Maybe the card in question should be professional face breaker. It can quickly generate treasure for you and then you can use that treasure to either play put more things or draw into more things.
good afternoon. A wonderful overview of a wonderful deck. The game has been in the same colors for several months now. Red, green, white. I combine them depending on the release. The deck shows itself very actively and effectively-monthly reaching the rank of mythics. I suggest you get acquainted with my favorite. A worm. And if you have a desire to cross the splits at the table!

1 White Sun's Twilight (ONE) 38
1 Song of Totentanz (WOE) 150
I got rid of the Chandra, the Thrillseeker, and the Light up the Night and added 3 Pollen-Shield Hare. It's very good for the deck. Give it a try.
Polin hare seems spicy af! Deff going to swap those in for the chandra and nahiri spell
This is mono-red.
This is mono-white.
Boros value them until they’re dead.
Nice video, and I don't even play Standard. It was nice to meet ya at Dragon Con.
Blue White Boardwipe control is such an eye roll. Zero win-con.
In my version of this deck I added 1 rocco and have been enjoying that addition thoroughly. It allows casting from exile which synergizes with Pia, it creates food that can be used to sustain me or gives me stuff to bargain with. and rocco's not too easy to remove. maybe something worth considering...
I did Jeskai Thopter Legends with Pia and Urza Prince of Kroog
Oh god this looks so fun! Definitely gonna try it out. Thanks CGB!
Last win was fantastic!
CGB, I love you. I love you even more for saying with Pia in hand “you can’t go wrong”. Figuring out how to make this my ringtone. ❤️ Pia (not nalaar) 😎
Wow ... untapped has the Pia deck at 38.9% win rate!
Pollen-Shield Hare triples thopter damage for 3 mana.
I cut the green for BO1 and it's been performing better for sure. The mana base is just unnecessarily finicky for what you're actually trying to do.
And not play the Druid as a creature?
Can you share?
I just stopped playing the druid entirely, it was the worst of the exile 2 spells and without green, no upside. Decklist below. @@mandurang4881 👍
One thing that strikes me about Pia's moment in the sun is that this might mean there are some decks where March of Reckless Joy is actually good.
I had to watch this twice. I tried using the deck after the first, and I was getting killed. Hoping to get better after getting schooled during the second watch.
I really like playing a lot of toxic decks my favorite video of yours was invoked despair black red blue
Chandra with the impulse draws is suspect imo
I always dred the day you post a rw stardard deck almost as much as i dred the days you post wu decks
I've never spent that many wildcards for a new deck and still don't know why...never lost that many games in a row, too.
CGB continues his quest to try to get people to play decks that Esper Control beats
Naya tokens? Winning in mythic??
cool to get news on booths for M&G --- do you have your own booth, or would it be too crazy? lmao, anyway, I'll keep my ear to the ground in the covertgowhere channel to see if I can meet you otherwise too. Can't wait for vegas! I dont feel ready, theres so much going on
BTW this pia deck is sweet. been seeing it all over the place in tourney lists. Masterclass by yourself in matchups against control, I guess the matchmaker wanted CGB to play against himself XD
Wicked last game, this is a solid deck 👌🏼
since guilds of ravnica i watch your clips and it feels like you are getting better and better at what you're doing, it's a pleasure to watch you, you're really entertaining and it's a big help that you share your thoughts about what you play and why you sequence it the way you do, thank you. i have just one complaint, please stop to call me kid, i'm 53. .🤔😜
Lol that intro is just great
Some of the mana festered while Chandra was sequestered
Classic CGB deck. So muuuuuuch value!
... it's just crazy how different card draw is from a few years ago.
For every colour ...
Deck is absolute gas, thanks for sharing!
That was an amazing deck to watch!
YEESSSSSSSS PIA!!!!!!!!! Been waiting for this one. Pia decks are all about finding the right removal for the format meta.
POLLEN-SHIELD HARE!!! This card is really busted in thid deck
I have been running bw tokens and went from gold to mythic with it undefeated
I lost to this deck recently! I was so impressed
I 100% would have surrendered to that white suns
Wow had been trying to make a tokens deck work (using the x rats and devilish valet) but it was only 50/50 on ladder, I was considering other cards but had no Pias and no Virtue of Loyalties in my collection; after watching this I would say they are worth crafting!
This deck is screaming for Rocco the street chef
I used ever single wild card I had for gulgori this rotation...dang shoulda waited
CGB, man as much as I love your channel... there is no best deck because as well all know MTG is just rock, paper, scissors. Sometimes we win and sometimes we don't. We cannot control the draw. I love this deck. I played it in 4 games, but ended up 2/2. I got hammered twice; once by mono red and once blue control deck. That being said, this deck will definitely stay in my stable of decks.
Hey cgb I really enjoy content you didn't play any smeagol helpful guide a little black and green Mill, I usually play him in saltie decks
That deck is just great to watch
Maybe I'm wrong but I thought I heard someone say you can play questing druid on your end step if you make a stop and then have it act as a wrenn's resolve? I'm skeptical and havent tried it but who knows lol.
Was wondering when you'd cover that pile - after some games of getting used to it, I had loads of fun with that deck in BO3! And the opponent of match 2 put in some serious hours, played them in plat not so many days ago.
Hey I love your content and I was wondering if you could do the Peregin Took combo with the Experimental Confectioner! You can draw you deck on turn 4
Unless you know they’re not black because both of those cards are in cut down range 🫠
FYI you need a food token on the field for the combo to work!
Would be good to add 2 of that white creature that makes the 1/1 prowess creatures or just not worth?
ninjas could be good with those thopters
This is like card-advantage aggro
So I've been trying this deck on arena before building it in paper. I used all my wildcards to do so. I have done 25 games and have lost 19 of them. I watched the games you did and have a bit of a better understanding, but do you have a primer for the deck I can read through?
Love the intro
Usually I play a Koth/Chandra Deck with 3x Triple damage, (city on fire or fiery emancipation) could you maybe work something like that? cannons?
This deck looks so fun im testing it soon
CGB, have you seen John Avon's secret lair drop? You could be the model for Brainstorm! Sorry if you've already addressed this 😂
For me the shuffler has been completely busted. Plus the match maker gives me nothing but mini red match ups making raking a fucking nightmare
I can't keep pia alive for my life
Someone was playing this in Platinum this morning.
damn that depop was brutal.
love long intros
18:45 I think we found a very necessary upgrade to what is displayed with "end of turn" to prevent this. Are you still there MTGA Developers?
Thanks CGB
This deck looks so sweet and you make it seem very fun to play... and it's so Rare heavy. ugh
It's so funny that he went up against his own deck
Thy should make more Sunfall spells, that was fkin genius!
Wow eldrain le really shaking shit up
This deck still worth it ? Waiting to open more packs so I don’t have to use wildcards on it. Been loving the different variations of Pia decks thoufh
I built a banger of a deck that can blink my entire board even battles! Fastest rank up to mythic I’ve ever done lol if anyone wants the deck list let me know
Hmmmm sounds intriguing
What is it
