I had the pleasure of using The End on an opponent's animated forest and whoa boy 10/10 recommend watching it dawn on the opponent that they probably won't draw any more lands for the rest of the game.
@@kaemonbonet4931 Tablet of Compleation is the closest card for providing copies 5-8 of mazemind tome. It's much, *much* worse at drawing cards, but it does provide ramp in the early game at least. Phyrexian Arena is a significantly better card that also provides a slow draw engine, but the forced life loss can be a major issue in a deck that aims to go long like this one does. Burst draw effects might be the way to go here. The tutor on Insatiable Avarice is quite appealing imo, and would let you run some 1-of narrow answers. Rowan's Grim Search and Dire Sight are pretty good Quick Study/Divination variants, and Outrageous Robbery is a twist on Fact or Fiction. @bdub884 an aggro player playing conservatively and playing around removal is just good play, period. It was MAYBE a 50/50 game. To imply that player only won because of luck is salty.
since he didn't explain the "already targeted" thing, here it is: losing nowhere to run after targeting would have prevented ward from working, since it's an ability that triggers when you target, hexproof is different because the target needs to be valid as the spell or ability resolves, otherwise it won't work on that target and will fizzle altogether if it was the only target and having a target is not optional.
god that final play... I was screaming internally "Ok, now The End the Zur in response." "... The End the Zur. You just talked about this." "... Control players really do try and wait until they've suffered all of the consequences before they finally spend their mana to stop holding priority 😂 The best time to use the second The End would've been before they even drew the card from Up the Beanstalk. That way they can't draw into an answer.
@@Gizmonster94 I suppose that's true too. Arena just auto-passes if it's your spell/ability on the stack. So he would've needed to be in full control or add a stop.
As somebody who came from playing yugioh, Hexproof preventing you from targeting creatures that you've 'already targeted' was one of the hardest concepts for me to wrap my head around.
Hexproof doesn't prevent you from targeting. Hexproof prevents something from being the target. Even after you target something with a spell or ability it is still the target of that spell or ability.
You know for a guy that understands the "card advantage wins everytime" line. You sure did let those zombifies that could hit Atraxa linger for far too long. It was the dagger!
Just a tip with the sylex. depending on the matchup it can be good to not just counter it up as when running it with blast zone you actually can use it as an instant way to clear tokens where as blast zone starts with 1 cost this starts with 0 cost (targeting)
I’ve been working on black/blue skeletons and it works well against board wipe decks quite well. The new skeleton crab is an all star in it. It makes both crimes and decend on enchantment etb.
reminds me of an old casual mono-B deck I played. It used to put Nightmare Incursion under a Panoptic Mirror and systematically dismantle their entire deck. Or if I was under pressure it could put a Mutilate under the mirror instead to buy me time to search up another copy with Inventor's Fair or similar. First remove wincons, then remove anything that could answer the mirror, then everything else, then lands XD

The Rakdos Reanimator game - much more important to remove their reanimation spells (i.e. zombify) than to remove their creatures. You can always kill their creatures, but you only have 4 cards in your deck that can remove Zombify

Don't worry, everybody has a silly mistake from time to time, but yes, it works, it's something along the lines of when the spell checks the creature, it sees the hexproof so it's like it knows that it shouldn't be targeting it, so the spell implodes for it's convoluted existence.

Mine was the game not ending in turn 2 and also my opponent not drawing their entire deck in turn 1.
I played against this deck earlier today. Blast Zones, Filagree Silex, Deadly Coverup. It was tricky, but I won. No fun was had.

And they had around 12 cards exiled from their deck, it was so thin that it was inevitable.
